- Il est connu des tubes souples comprenant une tête de tube munie d’un orifice de distribution, un bouchon monté sur la tête de tube et fermant de manière réversible l’orifice de distribution et une jupe flexible fixée sur la tête de tube. Un premier aspect de l’invention concerne la capacité du tube à utiliser le moins de matière plastique possible de sorte notamment à réduire l’empreinte carbone du tube. En effet, de nos jours la production mondiale de plastique représente l'une des plus grandes sources de déchets. La consommation et le recyclage de ces produits en plastique est une préoccupation majeure des organisations nationales et régionales. Les matières plastiques non recyclées sont actuellement éliminées par divers procédés allant de la mise en décharge à la récupération d'énergie en passant par des traitements thermiques et chimiques. Pour diminuer la consommation de plastique, il a été proposé des tubes dont la tête de tube comporte un couvercle afin de fermer de manière réversible l’orifice de distribution. Ainsi, la tête de tube et le bouchon ne forment plus qu’un seul et même composant, diminuant ainsi la quantité de plastique utilisé pour fournir les mêmes fonctionnalités. Par ailleurs, il a également déjà été envisagé de remplacer une certaine proportion de plastiques par du papier. L’utilisation de papier / carton permet de réduire l’impact environnemental, mesuré notamment par une analyse de cycle de vie, et découpler l’emballage de matériaux d’origine fossile donc non renouvelable.
