Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the technical sector concerning a ski mountaineering binding, with particular reference to a rear portion of the ski mountaineering binding provided with a brake for skis.
  • the brake comprises an activating lever which is arranged so that it can be pressed by the heel of a ski boot when the heel of the ski boot hooks the turret in the first position of the turret, for downhill skiing.
  • the brake is also designed so that the pressure of the activating lever by the heel of the ski boot brings the brake to assume the non-active configuration, against the action of the first elastic means.
  • the aim of the invention consists in simplifying the operations that the user has to perform in order to ski downhill or uphill.
  • the user In order to predispose the rear portion of the ski binding for ascent, after having skied downhill, the user only has to rotate the turret to bring it into the second position of the turret.
  • reference numeral (1) denotes in its entirety a rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding according to the present invention, comprising:
  • the recovery and release means (8) are preferably borne by the turret (3).
  • the turret (3) is preferably rotatably coupled to the base (2).
  • the turret (3) is coupled in a revolute pair to the base (2).
  • the rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding (1) can comprise a fixing disc (9) which is fixed to the bottom of the turret (3), and the base (2) can inferiorly comprise a base abutment (11) for peripherally abutting the fixing disc (9) and to enable rotation thereof together with the turret (3).
  • the fixing disc (9) is fixed to the turret (3) by three screws (12), see figure 11 for example.
  • the turret (3) preferably rises from the base (2) according to an axis which is perpendicular to the axis of the ski (10) when the base (2) is fixed to the ski (10).
  • the first position of the turret (3A) and the second position of the turret (3B) are preferably angularly distanced by 180 degrees.
  • the rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding (1) can comprise two pins (13).
  • the pins (13) can be borne by the turret (3) to hook the turret (3) to the heel (4) of a ski boot for downhill skiing, see for example figures 9-10 .
  • the pins (13) are preferably facing towards the front part of the ski (10). Further, the pins (13) can be orientated parallel to the axis of the ski (10).
  • the pins (13) are preferably facing towards the rear part of the ski (10). Further, the pins (13) can be orientated parallel to the axis of the ski (10).
  • the rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding (1) can comprise one or more heel lifters (14) (the figures illustrate two heel lifters (14)), so as to offer to each one a support for the heel (4) of a ski boot for walking uphill ( figures 15-16 for example). At least one of the heel lifters (14) (the higher in the view of figure 16 ) can be rotatable.
  • the rear portion of the ski mountaineering binding (1) can comprise regulating means (15), of known type, for stabilising the first position of the turret (3A) and the second position of the turret (3B), so that passing from the first position of the turret (3A) to the second position of the turret (3B), or vice versa, requires the application of at least a predetermined rotation torque on the turret (3).
  • the first elastic means can be incorporated in the brake (5) and for example not be visible, as in the case illustrated in the figures (indeed no numerical reference is associated thereto).
  • the first elastic means can also comprise one or more torque springs anchored to the base (2) (solution not shown in the figures).
  • the brake (5) When the brake (5) is in the non-active configuration (5B) it preferably does not brake the ski (10).
  • the transmission means (6) can comprise profiled elements (not illustrated) solidly constrained to the base (2) and/or to the turret (3). Additionally, or alternatively, the transmission means (6) can comprise one or more pulleys (16, 17, 18), borne by the base (2) ( figures 5, 6 , 23, 24 , for example) and/or by the turret (3) (solution not illustrated).
  • the connecting element (7) is preferably a wire.
  • the connecting element (7) can have other shapes.
  • the connecting element (7) can be a strap, a tape, a chain, a plurality of wires intertwined with one another (these variants are not illustrated).
  • the recovery and release means (8) are preferably arranged at or in proximity of the bottom of the turret (3).
  • the recovery and release means (8) are arranged in proximity of the bottom of the turret (3): in fact, they are fixed to the fixing disc (9), which in turn is fixed, as mentioned, to the bottom of the turret (3), and is thus borne by the turret (3).
  • the recovery and release means (8) can be made on the lateral wall of the turret (3): they can comprise for example a winding/unwinding groove which is located at an area that projects from the base (2) or which is at the height of the base (2), so as to receive the connecting element (7) (solution not illustrated).
  • the brake (5) preferably comprises an activating lever (19) which is arranged so as to be pressed, in use, by the heel (4) of the ski boot; the first elastic means are dimensioned so that the pressure of the activating lever (19), by the heel (4) of the ski boot, when the turret (3) is in the first position of the turret (3A), causes the passage of the brake (5) into the non-active configuration (5B), enabling skiing downhill.
  • the brake (5) preferably comprises a first brake arm (21) which is movable to project beneath the rest surface of the ski (10) to drag on the layer of snow covering the terrain and thus brake the ski (10), when the base (2) is fixed to the ski (10) and the brake (5) is in the braked configuration (5A), and to be above the rest surface of the ski (10) when the base (2) is fixed to the ski (10) and the brake (5) is in the non-active configuration (5B); the activating lever (19) is connected to the first brake arm (21) for activating the first brake arm (21).
  • the brake (5) preferably comprises a wire element.
  • the brake (5) is preferably borne by the base (2) (as illustrated in the drawings).
  • the brake (5) is fixed directly to the ski (10).

  • the wire element can be a metal spindle, appropriately profiled.
  • the brake (5) can comprise a fork (20) which in turn comprises the first brake arm (21) and a second brake arm (22).
  • the first brake arm (21) and the second brake arm (22) are located away from each other by a distance that is greater than the width of the ski (10), so that in the braked configuration (5A) they can intercept the snow on both sides of the ski (10) and so that in the non-active configuration (5B) they are lifted, as already mentioned in the foregoing.
  • the central part of the fork (20) can be coupled, preferably rotatably, to the rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding (1), preferably to the base (2), or to the ski (10) (according to a variant not illustrated).
  • the brake (5) can further comprise a first prong (31) and a second prong (32) ( figures 11 , 17 , for example) which, on one side, are connected to the central part of the fork (20), and which extend while staying parallel to and moved away from one another.
  • the first prong (31) and the second prong (32) can be part of the activating lever (19) of the brake (5).
  • the distance between the first prong (31) and the second prong (32) is preferably less than the distance between the first brake arm (21) and the second brake arm (22), measured perpendicularly to the axis of the ski (10).
  • the brake (5) can be made in a single body, and in this case the first prong (31) and the second prong (32) are connected to one another.
  • the brake (5) preferably comprises a plate (23) for abutting ( figures 9 , 10 ) the sole of the heel (4) of a ski boot.
  • the plate (23) can be connected to an end of the activating lever (19), for example rotatably.

  • An end of the connecting element (7) is preferably connected to the plate (23) (see figure 6 for example).
  • the base (2) preferably bears a first abutment (41); the connecting element (7) bears a second abutment (42) ( figures 5, 6 for example) which is interposed between the first abutment (41) and the recovery and release means (8);
  • the rear portion of a ski mountaineering binding (1) comprises second elastic means (52) which are interposed between the first abutment (41) and the second abutment (42); the first abutment (41), the second abutment (42) and the second elastic means (52) are arranged and configured so that when the turret (3) is in the first position of the turret (3A) and the activating lever (19) is pressed by the heel (4) of the ski boot, the brake (5) reaches the non-active configuration (5B) ( figures11, 12 ), then the action of the second elastic means (52) causes the tensioning of the portion of connecting element (7) comprised between the activating lever (19) and the first abutment (41) of the base (2).
  • the base (2) preferably comprises a channel (24) which is in communication with the recovery and release means (8); the second elastic means (52) and the connecting element (7) occupy the channel (24).
  • the channel (24) is preferably made on the bottom of the base (2).
  • the second elastic means (52) preferably comprise a compression spring.
  • the first elastic means are dimensioned in such a way as to overcome the second elastic means (52) when the turret (3) is brought from the second position of the turret (3B) into the first position of the turret (3A).
  • the first abutment (41) can be a broadening: the figures illustrate in particular a small disc orientated perpendicularly with respect to the axis of the connecting element (7) ( figures 11 and 12 , for example).
  • the second abutment (42) can be made in the base (2), at the position of the channel (24).
  • the second abutment (42) can be a narrowing of the channel (24).
  • the transmission means (6) can comprise a first pulley (16), preferably idle, which is borne by the base (2) and which has a rotation axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the ski (10) and perpendicular to the axis of the turret (3). Further, the first pulley (16) can be arranged at the opening of the channel (24), on the opposite side with respect to the recovery and release means (8).
  • the transmission means (6) can comprise a second pulley (17) and a third pulley (18) which are facing one another, which are preferably idle, which are borne by the base (2), which both have a rotation axis that is substantially parallel to the axis of the turret (3) and between which the connecting element (7) can slide. Further, the second pulley (17) and the third pulley (18) can be arranged at the opening of the channel (24), on the opposite side with respect to the first pulley (16) and in proximity of the recovery and release means (8).
  • the recovery and release means (8) preferably comprise a winding element (25): which is solidly constrained to the turret (3); to which the connecting element (7) is constrained; on which the connecting element (7) winds when the turret (3) is brought into the second position of the turret (3B); and from which the connecting element (7) unwinds when the turret (3) is brought into the first position of the turret (3A).
  • An end of the connecting element (7) is preferably constrained to the winding element (25), so that the end of the connecting element (7) is preferably solidly constrained to the winding element (25).
  • the end of the connecting element (7) can be broadened ( figure 5 ) to facilitate the coupling with the winding element (25).
  • the winding element (25) can have a discoid shape ( figure 5 ). In this case, it is preferable for it to be arranged on the bottom of the turret (3) or on the bottom of the fixing disc (9), if included.
  • the winding element (25) can have an annular peripheral groove (not visible, but it can be intuited by observing figure 17 ) for receiving the connecting element (7).
  • the base (2) preferably comprises a first endrun stop (61) and a second endrun stop (62) which are angularly moved away from one another, and an abutment (63) which is solidly constrained to the turret (3) and which is positioned in order to be able to abut the first endrun stop (61) and the second endrun stop (62) so as to ensure that the turret (3) can rotate between the first position of the turret (3A) and the second position of the turret (3B) only along a same angular pathway.
  • the abutment (63) can be fixed to the fixing disc (9), if included.
  • the abutment (63) can otherwise be arranged and dimensioned to aid the constraining of the end of the connecting element (7) to the winding element (25), see for example figure 17 .
  • Figures 1-6 show the rear portion of the ski mountaineering binding (1) in a configuration in which the turret (3) is in the first position of the turret (3A) for downhill skiing and the brake (5) is in a braked configuration (5A).
  • the turret (3) must be rotated into the second position of the turret (3B), figures 13-18 .
  • the connecting element (7) winds about the winding element (25), figure 17 , and the brake (5) is consequently brought into the non-active configuration (5B), against the action of the first elastic means. It is thus possible to walk uphill, resting the heel (4) of the ski boot on one of the heel lifters (14).
  • the first elastic means facilitate the unwinding of the connecting element (7) from the winding element (25) and bring the brake (5) into the braked configuration (5A), overcoming the action of the second elastic means (52).
  • the recovery and release means (8) preferably comprise a connecting rod (26) which is rotatably borne by the turret (3) and a carriage (27) which is rotatably coupled to the connecting rod (26) and to which the connecting element (7) is constrained;
  • the base (2) comprises a channel (24) which is in communication with the recovery and release means (8) and which functions as a sliding guide for the carriage (27);
  • the rotation axis of the connecting rod (26) with respect to the turret (3) is eccentric with respect to the rotation axis of the turret (3) with respect to the base (2). In this way, the turret (3) identifies a crank.
  • An end of the connecting rod (26) is preferably coupled in a revolute pair to the turret (3) directly (solution not illustrated) or indirectly (for example by means of the fixing disc (9), if present) and the other end of the connecting rod (26) is coupled in a revolute pair to the carriage (27); the carriage (27) is dimensioned so as to slide along the channel (24); an end of the connecting element (7) is constrained to the carriage (27).
  • the ends of the connecting element (7) can be broadened to facilitate the coupling with the carriage (27).
  • the carriage (27) can comprise a seat (28) having an elongate shape, so as to slidingly receive the end of the connecting element (7).
  • the base (2) can comprise an accumulation chamber (29) which is adjacent to the relative channel (24), for accumulating the connecting element (7).
  • the channel (24) and the accumulation chamber (29), if included, are preferably made on the bottom of the base (2).
  • the transmission means (6) can comprise a first pulley (16), preferably idle, which is borne by the base (2) and which has a rotation axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the ski (10) and perpendicular to the axis of the turret (3). Further, the first pulley (16) can be adjacent to the accumulation chamber (29).
  • Figures 19-24 show the rear portion of the ski mountaineering binding (1) in the configuration in which the turret (3) is in the first position of the turret (3A) for downhill skiing and the brake (5) is in a braked configuration (5A).
  • the turret (3) must be rotated into the second position of the turret (3B), figures 31-36 .
  • the connecting rod (26) takes the carriage (27) in advancement along the channel (24) (and for example in partial exit from the channel (24)), so that the brake (5) reaches, via the connecting element (7), the non-active configuration (5B) against the action of the first elastic means. It is thus possible to walk uphill, resting the heel (4) of the ski boot on one of the heel lifters (14).
  • the present invention also relates to a ski mountaineering binding (not illustrated) comprising the above-mentioned rear portion of the ski mountaineering binding (1) and a toe-piece of a ski mountaineering binding, which has not been described nor illustrated, being of a generally known type.
