  • thermoplastic material refers to resins or binders that, after curing, become pliable or moldable when heated above a certain temperature.
  • Suitable thermoplastic resins for use according to the general inventive concepts include those having a glass transition temperature of -30 °C to 40 °C. Examples of suitable resins include: Acronal NX 4569, Acronal NX 4787, Acronal NX4612, Acronal NX 3587 and Acronal 4250 from BASF; Rhoplex NW-1845K from Dow Chemical; DUR-O-SET ELITE 22 and DUR-O-SET E-646 Emulsion from Celanese.
  • the thermoplastic material provides the softness needed for flexible mats.
  • Gurley stiffness values decrease along with Tg of the impregnation resins. This is an important feature. By adjusting the impregnation formulation by varying the Tg of resins, the stiffness of impregnated non-woven veils can be tuned (from 810 to 1625 mgf). Tensile strengths for sample 6 to sample 9 are all higher than sample 5 (precursor non-woven mat with Dow 2 - TS ACR) due to impregnation resins. This suggests that impregnated non-woven veils can be adjusted to designed range of Gurley stiffness and tensile strength by changing types and add-on weights of thermoplastic resins.

Claims (13)

  1. Mat non tissé lié, comprenant :
    une bande de fibres non tissée ; et
    une formulation de liant comprenant une composition de liant précurseur comprenant un matériau thermodurcissable et une composition de liant de revêtement comprenant un matériau thermoplastique,
    dans lequel la composition de liant précurseur est appliquée sur la bande de fibres non tissée pour former une bande précurseur, et la composition de liant de revêtement est appliquée sur la bande précurseur, le mat non tissé étant durci pour former un mat non tissé lié,
    dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable est présent en une quantité de 5 % à 49 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant et le matériau thermoplastique est présent en une quantité de 51 % à 95 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant, et dans lequel le mat non tissé lié présente une rigidité Gurley de 500 mg à 2 000 mg.
  2. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le mat non tissé lié présente une rigidité Gurley de 1 000 mg à 2 000 mg.
  3. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le mat non tissé lié présente une résistance à la traction (MD+CD) d'au moins 105 N/ 50 mm.
  4. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable comprend une partie d'un liant précurseur et la composition de liant précurseur est présente dans le mat fibreux lié en une quantité de 2 g/m2 à 6 g/m2.
  5. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 4, dans lequel la composition de liant précurseur est présente dans le mat fibreux lié en une quantité de 2,5 g/m2 à 4,5 g/m2.
  6. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau thermoplastique comprend un liant de revêtement et le liant de revêtement est présent dans le mat fibreux lié en une quantité de 2 g/m2 à 8 g/m2.
  7. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 6, dans lequel le liant de revêtement est présent dans le mat fibreux lié en une quantité de 3,5 g/m2 à 5,5 g/m2.
  8. Mat non tissé lié selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable est présent en une quantité de 30 % à 49 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant et le matériau thermoplastique est présent en une quantité de 51 % à 70 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant, facultativement dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable est présent en une quantité de 40 % à 49 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant et le matériau thermoplastique est présent en une quantité de 51 % à 60 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant.
  9. Procédé de formation d'un mat non tissé lié, comprenant :
    la fourniture d'une bande fibreuse ;
    l'application d'une composition de liant précurseur comprenant un matériau thermodurcissable sur la bande fibreuse pour former une bande précurseur ;
    l'application d'une composition de liant de revêtement comprenant un matériau thermoplastique sur la bande précurseur ; et
    le fait de laisser le mat non tissé durcir pour former un mat non tissé lié ;
    dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable est présent en une quantité de 5 % à 49 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant et le matériau thermoplastique est présent en une quantité de 51 % à 95 % en poids de la formulation totale de liant ;
    dans lequel le mat non tissé lié présente une rigidité Gurley de 500 mg à 2 000 mg.
  10. Procédé selon la revendication 9, dans lequel le mat non tissé lié présente une résistance à la traction (MD+CD) d'au moins 105 N/50 mm après durcissement.
  11. Procédé selon la revendication 9, dans lequel le matériau thermodurcissable est présent dans le mat non tissé lié en une quantité de 2 g/m2 à 6 g/m2.
  12. Procédé selon la revendication 9, dans lequel le matériau thermoplastique est présent dans le mat non tissé lié en une quantité de 2 g/m2 à 8 g/m2.
  13. Procédé selon la revendication 9, dans lequel la bande fibreuse comprend de la fibre de verre et le poids total de fibre de verre dans le mat non tissé lié est compris entre 40 g/m2 et 60 g/m2.
