Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a protective contact socket, comprising a base with electrical plug contacts, a grounding bracket attached to the base, which has a base and at least one grounding contact connected to the base, and a cover provided with a socket pot with at least one slot through which the grounding contact protrudes into the socket pot.
  • Protective contact sockets of the above type are known in many embodiments from the prior art.
  • the sockets are designed in such a way that when a plug is inserted, a connection is established with the ground contact before the contact pins of the plug establish an electrical connection with the electrical plug contacts that are connected to the supply network.
  • the grounding contact of the protective contact socket must assume a predetermined position with a very small tolerance. In known sockets, this should be achieved by the grounding contact pressing against a part of the grounding bracket with the outer wall of the socket pot when the cover is installed, so that the grounding contact assumes a predetermined position when the cover is installed.
  • the socket pot may be deformed during assembly of the socket if a fastening screw passed through the center of the bottom of the socket pot is tightened.
  • a fastening screw passed through the center of the bottom of the socket pot is tightened.
  • not only the floor but also the wall of the socket pot is deformed - even if only slightly - so that the desired target position of the grounding contact also changes.
  • this also changes the normatively prescribed distance between the grounding contacts.
  • sockets are increasingly equipped with electronic components that require space.
  • sockets in which, due to other components of the socket, there is very little space available outside the socket pot, so that the grounding contact can only be supported to a very limited extent on the outer jacket of the socket pot.
  • a socket according to the preamble of claim 1 is known.
  • the DE 10 08 805 B describes a protective contact socket with protective contact brackets that are attached to a cover on the socket.
  • An outer end of the grounding contact is arranged outside the socket pot, which makes it possible to support the grounding contact on the outer wall of the socket pot or on another component connected to the base, but away from the bottom of the socket pot. At the same time, this can prevent the grounding contact from being partially pulled out of the slot due to improper handling.
  • the ground contact has a crossbar at its outer end.
  • the outer end or the free end of the grounding contact can be fixed either to the cover or to the base or a component connected to the base against undesirable displacement, so that the above-mentioned effect does not occur.
  • this point - in contrast to the prior art - is not in the area of the bottom of the socket pot, but rather near the front visible surface of the socket, i.e. in an area that is tightened when tightened
  • the fastening screw for the cover is at most slightly deformed. In this way, a desired target position of the ground contact protruding through the slot into the socket pot and, if two ground contacts are present, compliance with a prescribed distance is easily ensured.
  • the base or a component firmly connected to the base forms at least one stop for the crossbar.
  • the base can have a wall or a web that is designed as a stop for the crossbar.
  • the stop blocks the crossbar in the direction of the plug-in direction of the socket. This prevents the grounding contact from being undesirably deformed if forces are exerted on it from above in the insertion direction, for example by improperly inserting a plug or during transport.
  • the crossbar and an area of the grounding contact adjacent to the crossbar can be T-shaped in plan view Form the end section, which is particularly flat. This creates a symmetrical arrangement that provides additional protection against the ground contact being bent out of the slot.
  • the stop can also be provided on a support ring which is firmly connected to the base and which is used in a known manner to mount the socket.
  • the stop can block the crossbar in a direction transverse to the insertion direction of the socket. In this way, it can be prevented that the grounding contact moves undesirably transversely to the insertion direction in the area of its front end, i.e. directed towards the front of the socket. If there are two grounding contacts, the stop limits movement of the two grounding contacts towards each other, so that a desired target distance can be maintained.
  • the grounding contact can be bent in the area of its front or outer end to form a loop, which enters the socket pot through the slot and exits it again through the slot. This also contributes to protection against bending of the ground contact.
  • this relates to a grounding bracket, in particular for a protective contact socket of the type described above, the grounding bracket having a base and at least one grounding contact connected to the base, which has a crossbar at its outer (free) end.
  • the grounding bracket can be designed as described above. It can be advantageous here if the ground contact is bent into a loop whose curvature has a turning point. This allows the crossbar to be oriented, for example, parallel to the bottom of the socket pot, so that a corresponding stop surface ensures that the crossbar rests with the lowest tolerances.
  • the grounding bracket can be a one-piece stamped and bent part with a strip-shaped base, which has a grounding contact at both ends, the outer end of which has a crossbar, and a fastening opening can be provided in particular in the middle of the base .
  • a grounding bracket can be produced inexpensively, which is particularly advantageous for a mass-produced item such as sockets.
  • Fig. 1 and 2 show a protective contact socket 10, which has a base 12 with two electrical contacts 14 (in Fig. 2 only one can be seen), which are connected to electrical connection terminals in a manner known per se.
  • a centrally arranged grounding bracket 15 is connected to the base 12 and has a base 16, at each of whose two outer ends a grounding contact 18 is provided in one piece. The grounding bracket is connected to a grounding terminal, not shown.
  • a viewing frame 20 is placed on the base 12 and is held by a cover 22 which is screwed to the base 12.
  • the cover 22 is provided in one piece in a manner known per se with a socket pot 24 into which a suitable protective contact plug can be inserted.
  • Two diametrically opposite slots 26 are provided in the peripheral wall of the socket pot 24 (in Fig. 1 only one is recognizable), a grounding contact 18 protruding into the socket pot 24 through each slot 26.
  • a support ring 28 is attached to the base 12, with which the base can be screwed into a hollow wall box, for example.
  • fastening claws 30 are provided with which the base can be clamped in a wall or box.
  • Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of a grounding bracket 15, as used in the embodiment of Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 can find application.
  • the base 16 of the grounding bracket 15 is strip-shaped and has a fastening opening 32 in its center, through which, for example, a rivet can be passed to fasten the grounding bracket to the base.
  • a grounding contact 18 is integrally formed on each of the two outer ends of the base 16 and is bent into a loop. However, the curvature of the loop has a turning point W and beyond the turning point W a crossbar 34 is formed at the outer end of each ground contact 18.
  • the crossbar 34 and an area adjacent thereto in the direction of the loop form a top view T-shaped end section 36, which is essentially planar and runs in a plane parallel to the base 16.
  • Fig. 5 to Fig. 7 show enlarged partial representations that illustrate how the grounding bracket 15 or the grounding contact 18 is arranged relative to the base 12.
  • the base 12 is provided with a wall section 38 which has an upwardly open U-shaped recess 40 through which the grounding contact 18 is passed.
  • the outside of the wall section 38 forms a stop for the crossbar 34, so that it is cannot move in a direction transverse to the insertion direction of the socket and in the direction of the opposite ground contact 18.
  • the crossbar 34 can be moved slightly in the insertion direction if a force K is exerted on the ground contact 18 in the insertion direction.
  • a web 42 is provided on the base 12, which serves as a stop for the cross web 34 when it is acted upon by a force K in the insertion direction.
  • FIG. 4 a slightly modified embodiment of a grounding bracket 15, in which a loop-shaped grounding contact 18 is formed at the two ends of the base 16.
  • a crossbar 34 is again provided at the outer or free end of the grounding contact 18. However, this does not extend parallel to the base 16, but perpendicular to it.
  • two curved tongues 46 are provided on the crossbar 34, which facilitate insertion of the grounding contact 18 into the slot 26 when the cover 22 is put on, which is in the peripheral wall of the socket pot 24 is provided.
  • the crossbar 34 forms a stop for the grounding contact 18, which is not located in the area of the bottom 25 of the socket pot 24. Rather, the crossbar 34 fixes the position of the grounding contact 18 in an area of the peripheral wall of the socket pot 24, which is close to the area of the entrance to the socket pot 24. This area deforms at most slightly when the base 25 is deformed by tightening a fastening screw.
  • Fig. 8 and Fig. 9 show a further embodiment of a protective contact socket, with the same reference numbers being used for the same components.
  • This shows Fig. 9 the ground contact 18 in a position in which it is when the plug is inserted, although the plug itself is not shown.
  • Fig. 9 clarified, when the plug is inserted, the ground contact 18 is not only pressed radially outwards through the slot, but also pressed downwards in the insertion direction until the crossbar 34 abuts the support frame 28. However, there is no part of the ground contact 18 below the support frame 28, so that this area can be used for stiffening components, electronic components or the like.
  • the cover 22 is designed in such a way that the area outside the socket pot is kept very small up to the edge of the cover.
  • the cover 22 - as in all embodiments - has a circular edge that extends parallel to the wall of the socket pot and extends into the interior of the socket. In this embodiment, there is only very little free space in the area between the peripheral edge without a socket pot.
  • the grounding contact 18 is led into the socket pot in the area of the bottom of the socket pot and is led out again in the area of the upper slot end of the socket pot, the grounding contact can also be used when the plug is inserted ( Fig. 11 ) find space and are supported at its free outer end by the crossbar 34 on the support frame 28.
