Definitions
- the invention relates to a plug connector arrangement, comprising a plug connector with a contact carrier and a mating plug connector with a contact carrier that can be plugged together with the plug connector, the mating plug connector having a bevel in the plug-in area which corresponds to the geometry of the plug connector in such a way that during the mating process the plug connector is in a predetermined position Position is inserted into the mating connector, the connector having two opposite springs running axially in the plugging direction and the mating connector having two opposite grooves or vice versa, with one spring corresponding to its associated groove, according to the features of the preamble of patent claim 1.
- Such connector arrangements with a connector and a mating connector, which can be plugged together and which are located, for example, at the end of a cable or at a device input, are generally known.
- the connector has at least one contact partner, which is brought together with the associated contact partner of the mating connector during the mating process in order to establish an electrical connection.
- the cable outlet i.e. the area where the cable is led out of the plug connector or the mating plug connector (which is opposite the mating face of the plug connector or the mating face of the mating plug connector), can often be arbitrary. In such cases, it is not important how the geometry of the connector in its mating face and the geometry of the mating face of the corresponding mating connector are designed.
- a generic connector arrangement is from the EP 2 822 106 A1 known.
- the invention is based on the object of providing a connector arrangement, comprising a connector and a mating connector that can be plugged together, with which the disadvantages described above are avoided.
- the two springs are of different lengths. It is basically the plug-in principle, which comes from the EP 2 822 106 A1 is known and is based on the tongue-and-groove design described there, retained in order to maintain the resulting advantageous functions, especially in the case of an oblique mating process.
- One end of a spring is thus arranged in a first plane and the end of the second spring in a plane deviating from the first plane, with the end of the plug connector (more precisely the end of its contact carrier), which also forms the plug face, lying in one plane.
- the first plane of one spring (the longer spring) can lie in the same plane in which the end of the contact carrier lies, with the end of the other (the shorter) spring then lying in a recessed plane.
- the end of the contact carrier lies in a first plane
- the end of one spring lies in a deviating, recessed second plane
- the end of the second spring lies in a third plane, deviating from and opposite the second plane recessed third level.
- the Figures 1 to 4 show, as far as shown in detail, a connector arrangement 1 in different views.
- the plug connector arrangement 1 comprises a plug connector 2 and a mating plug connector 3 that can be plugged together therewith.
- the plug connector 2 is arranged via a cable outlet 4 on a cable, not shown.
- the mating connector 3 is arranged with a cable outlet 5 on another cable, also not shown.
- These two cable outlets 4, 5 are only examples. It is also conceivable that the connector 2 is connected to the associated cable via its cable outlet 4, while the mating connector 3 does not have a cable outlet, but protrudes, for example, from a housing of a control device or the like.
- the plug connector 2 and the mating plug connector 3 each have a housing (without reference number), with a contact carrier 6 or 7 being arranged in the respective housing.
- the housing or the respective contact carrier 6, 7 of the plug connector 2 and the mating plug connector 3 each accommodates at least one contact partner (not shown), preferably several contact partners.
- These respective contact partners can be arranged anywhere in the contact carrier 6, 7.
- the plug connector 2 has two oppositely arranged springs 8 (elongated projections in the axial direction in the form of guide webs) and the mating plug connector 3 has two oppositely arranged grooves 9.
- springs 8 elongated projections in the axial direction in the form of guide webs
- mating plug connector 3 has two oppositely arranged grooves 9.
- the mating connector 3 has an already known bevel 10, which interacts with the front area of the contact carrier 6 and in particular with the two springs 8 of the mating connector 3.
- a latching hook 11 preferably two latching hooks 11 arranged opposite one another, is present at least as a latching means.
- the mating connector 3 in turn has at least one recess 12, preferably two oppositely arranged recesses 12, which cooperate with the at least one latching hook 11 on the connector 2 when these have been plugged together to form the connector arrangement 1.
- the connector 2 has an undercut 13 in its contact carrier 6, preferably two undercuts 13 arranged opposite one another.
- the mating connector 3 has at least preferably in the area of the bevel 10 at least one latching hook 14, preferably two latching hooks 14 arranged opposite one another.
- the at least one latching hook 14 of the mating connector 3 interacts with the associated at least one undercut 13 of the connector 2 when these two have been plugged together to form the connector arrangement 1.
- the Figures 5 to 12 show the connector arrangement 1 during the plugging process.
- the plug-in process is shown from the approach of the connector 2 to the mating connector 3 up to the point at which the connector 2 is forced into the mating connector 3 in the correct position and as intended, due to the interaction of the tongue-and-groove system in connection with the bevel 10 is plugged in.
- Figure 5 shows the beginning of the mating process after connector 2 and mating connector 3 have been brought closer to one another and the mating face (front area, facing away from cable outlet 4) of connector 2 has been brought into the mating area (facing away from cable outlet 5) of mating connector 3.
- the bevel 10 is located in the plug-in area of the mating connector 3.
- This bevel 10 is approximately V-shaped.
- the V-shaped course can be formed by straight edges of the bevel 10.
- the course of the bevel 10 from the start of the assembly process and further is approximately arcuate.
- This approximately arcuate course of the side edges of the bevel 10 initially provides the largest possible receiving area of the plug-in face of the connector 2 (i.e. in the area of the tips of the bevel 10 directed in the direction of the mating connector 3), with the approximately arcuate course the receiving area of the bevel 10 increases because the area increases, and thus the targeted (forced) guidance increases during the further axial displacement of the connector 2 in the direction of the mating connector 3 within the area of the bevel 10.
- the start of the mating process of the connector 2 is thus shown in the area of the bevel 10 of the mating connector 3. In this position, the contact partners not shown are still at a distance.
- the plug connector 2 can initially be brought into any position in the direction of the mating plug connector 3. Any position is to be understood as meaning that the contact partners of the plug connector 2 in the axial direction are not congruent with the corresponding contact partners of the mating plug connector 3. This also means that during the beginning and the further plugging process, the plug connector 2 and the mating plug connector 3 are not in position an axial line (aligned), but are aligned obliquely to each other. This is very good, for example Figures 5 , 6 and 7 recognizable. It is shown there that the plug connector 2 is aligned obliquely to the mating plug connector 3 before the plugging process begins.
- the two contact carriers 6, 7 of the plug connector 2 and the mating plug connector 3 are twisted relative to one another, so that not only are the contact partners to be connected to one another (not shown) not yet aligned with one another, but also the locking hook 11 of the plug connector 2 is not yet aligned with the Recess 12 in the contact carrier 7 of the mating connector 3 is aligned and the spring 8 cannot yet be inserted into the associated groove 9. This is only possible when the connector 2 is aligned and rotated with the mating connector 3.
- contact partners 17, 18, which are arranged in corresponding numbers in their respective contact chambers in the associated contact carriers 6, 7 of the plug connector 2 or the mating plug connector 3.
- the at least one contact partner 17 (or several contact partners) in the contact carrier 7 is designed as a contact pin.
- the mating connector 3 is also referred to as a pin housing.
- the at least one corresponding contact partner 18 in the plug connector 2 is then a contact socket, so that the plug connector 2 can also be referred to as a coupling in such a case.
- an outer housing 15 which is arranged on the mating connector 3, in particular in a positionally variable manner on the contact carrier 7 of the mating connector 3, for example by axial displacement.
- An outer sleeve 16 is arranged on the connector 2 and surrounds the contact carrier 6 of the connector 2. The outer housing 15 and the outer sleeve 16 interact with one another when the plug connector 2 is plugged together with the mating plug connector 3.
- the outer sleeve 16 is fixed with latching means on the connector 2, more precisely its contact carrier 6, and the outer housing 15 is also fixed with latching means on the mating connector 3, more precisely on its contact carrier 7.
- the outer sleeve 16 on the plug connector 2 has a tab 19, with a projection corresponding to the tab 19 being present on the contact carrier 6 of the plug connector 2.
- the outer sleeve 16 can thus be viewed from the direction of the mating face of the contact carrier 6 (when looking at the Figure 9 the left end of the contact carrier 6) can be pushed on so that the tab 19 is guided over the projection 20 and the outer sleeve 16 thus rests in a latching manner on the contact carrier 6 at the end of the movement.
- the outer sleeve 16 has an elongated recess 21 and the contact carrier 6 has a corresponding elongated web 22.
- the recess 21 is slightly beveled in order to enable the web 22 to be inserted in a targeted manner.
- the initial area of the web 22 is also slightly beveled.
- Tab 19 projection 20 and recess 21 and web 22 are preferably present twice and opposite one another.
- the plug connector 2 is designed as an angled plug connector, although a straight exit of the cable is also conceivable.
- the contact carrier 6 is in one piece or is composed of two or more than two parts. If the contact carrier 6 is assembled from two parts, for example, when looking at the Figure 9 the left part from the outer sleeve 16 out, just as the second part protrudes out of the outer sleeve 16 on the right and merges into the cable outlet 4. In such a case, the connection level is then arranged within the coverage area of the outer sleeve 16.
- locking means with which the outer housing 15 can be fixed on the associated contact carrier 7 of the mating connector 3 after the outer housing 15 has been pushed onto the contact carrier 7.
- FIGs 13 to 17 finally show the connector arrangement 1 in the assembled state after the contact carrier 6 of the connector 2 has been inserted in the correct position into the contact carrier 7 of the mating connector 3.
- the plug connector 2 is first secured in its mating plug connector 3 by the interaction of the locking hook 11 with the recess 12.
- the outer sleeve 16 has internal teeth 23 and the outer housing 15 has external teeth 24 corresponding to the internal teeth 23.
- the internal toothing 23 of the outer sleeve 16 is, for example, in Figure 13 shown. This internal toothing 23 is preferably designed as a 12-edge geometry. This then acts as an anti-twist device for the connector 2 in its mating connector 3 External teeth 24 of the outer sleeve 15 together, the external teeth 24 preferably being designed as a 6-edge geometry. This is in Figure 16 shown.
- the outer sleeve 16 shown does not have to be present for this. However, if it is present, the outer housing 15 of the mating connector 3 must also be present. In the Figures 15 and 16 this is shown. There, however, the outer housing 15 is arranged in a first position on the contact carrier 7 and is not yet fixed, that is, it can still be moved axially. This can be seen from the fact that in the Figures 15 and 16 the end face of the outer housing 15, which points in the direction of the outer sleeve 16 and can (but does not have to) have the external teeth 24 there, is not yet immersed in the outer sleeve 16.
- the invention is preferably used in the automotive sector.
- the connector arrangement according to the invention and the manner of the mating process offer the advantage that the plug connector and the mating connector can be brought together as desired, even in confined spaces, and then the actual mating process takes place in a targeted manner.

Description
The invention relates to a plug connector arrangement, comprising a plug connector with a contact carrier and a mating plug connector with a contact carrier that can be plugged together with the plug connector, the mating plug connector having a bevel in the plug-in area which corresponds to the geometry of the plug connector in such a way that during the mating process the plug connector is in a predetermined position Position is inserted into the mating connector, the connector having two opposite springs running axially in the plugging direction and the mating connector having two opposite grooves or vice versa, with one spring corresponding to its associated groove, according to the features of the preamble of
Such connector arrangements with a connector and a mating connector, which can be plugged together and which are located, for example, at the end of a cable or at a device input, are generally known. The connector has at least one contact partner, which is brought together with the associated contact partner of the mating connector during the mating process in order to establish an electrical connection. When using such connector arrangements, it often does not matter whether the connector can be easily and simply inserted into the mating connector. Furthermore, it often doesn't matter what position the connector and mating connector are after mating. The cable outlet, i.e. the area where the cable is led out of the plug connector or the mating plug connector (which is opposite the mating face of the plug connector or the mating face of the mating plug connector), can often be arbitrary. In such cases, it is not important how the geometry of the connector in its mating face and the geometry of the mating face of the corresponding mating connector are designed.
However, there is often a requirement for such connector arrangements that they can be plugged together easily, quickly and easily, which is often the case with multi-pole connector arrangements. If no measures are taken during the mating process, it can happen that the connector is not inserted into the mating connector in the correct position, which can lead to reverse polarity, for example. In addition, it can happen that due to the position of the contact partners in the plug connector and the position of the associated contact partners in the mating plug connector, the correct alignment of the plug connector with respect to the mating plug connector is not directly achieved in order to be able to plug them together in the correct position. In such a case, if the correct position has been found by turning the connector with respect to the mating connector, the mating process can take place axially. However, this twisting, which requires several attempts, is often undesirable. To avoid these problems, jack connector arrangements, for example, have become known in practice. With these, a simple and correctly positioned mating process is achieved due to the geometry of the connector and the geometry of the mating connector. However, this design is undesirable for certain applications, since in such jack connector arrangements there are only two contact partners and these are arranged one behind the other when viewed axially in the plugging direction. If there are more than two contact partners or if the contact partners are arranged in one plane (and not axially one behind the other) in the plug connector or the mating plug connector, the pawl principle described no longer works. This should therefore be left out of the following considerations.
The invention is based on the object of providing a connector arrangement, comprising a connector and a mating connector that can be plugged together, with which the disadvantages described above are avoided. In particular, it should be possible to bring the plug connector into a desired position in the correct position relative to the mating plug connector during the mating process and to facilitate the mating process.

The invention is preferably used in the automotive sector. In vehicles, due to the limited installation space available, there are often problems not only with accommodating the connector arrangements themselves, but also with ensuring that the cables are laid correctly and that they follow the specified route. At the same time, the assembly of cables with connectors, possibly even complex cable harnesses with a large number of cables with connectors, should be carried out easily, quickly and in the correct position. Therefore, the connector arrangement according to the invention and the manner of the mating process offer the advantage that the plug connector and the mating connector can be brought together as desired, even in confined spaces, and then the actual mating process takes place in a targeted manner.
