Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The invention relates to a harness comprising a connector configured to facilitate the simultaneous attachment and use of several rope progression and/or safety accessories.

During a climbing session, a climber may be required to use a descender, a lanyard or a rope ascender, using one or the other device successively. This can happen, for example, if the climber has to climb back up a rope and then belay someone or abseil. A rope access technician or acrobatic worker may also be required to use these rope progression accessories as part of their professional activity.

To be able to quickly switch from one progression accessory to another, the latter are therefore placed either on the harness bridge, or on a connector playing the same role as the bridge, the connector being attached to the ventral part of the belt via a strap connecting the pair of thigh loops to the belt.

The multiplication of devices mounted in the connector can, however, be annoying for the user, for example if the rope lock hinders the proper functioning of the descender, or vice versa. Rope movements may be difficult because they are hindered by rope progression accessories that are not in use, and/or by carabiners or quick links that are used to attach these progression accessories.

It is known from the document EP3466493 to form a harness with a connector that connects the belt with a thigh loop. The connector is openable with a removable rod which is fixed by a screw.

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

An object of the invention consists of remedying these drawbacks, and providing a harness comprising a connector which allows easier use of rope progression accessories such as ascenders or descenders.

We tend to achieve this result by means of a harness according to the appended claims. The harness comprising a belt and a pair of thigh loops connected by a connector forming a ventral suspension point. The harness is notable in that
  • the connector defines a first ring and a second ring distinct from each other, the first ring being an openable ring and connecting the belt to the pair of thigh loops,
  • the first ring and the second ring are fixedly mounted on top of each other,
  • the first ring and the second ring respectively have a first median longitudinal plane and a second median longitudinal plane, the first median longitudinal plane being perpendicular to the second median longitudinal plane, the connector comprising a body and a closure element mounted removable relative to the body to open and close the first ring, at least one fixing screw fixing the closing element to the body.

In one development, the closure element forms the entirety of the second ring so that the second ring is removable relative to the first ring.

Préférentiellement, le deuxième anneau est non-ouvrable.Preferably, the second ring is non-openable.

In a particular configuration, the closure element and the second ring are formed by a single piece.

Advantageously, the closure element represents at least 120° and the second ring is formed at one end of the closure element and extends on less than a third of the angle formed by the closing element. In another alternative embodiment, the closure element represents less than 90° and the second ring is formed in the center of the closure element.

Advantageously, the body is in the form of a hook with first and second opposite ends, the body connecting the pair of thigh loops and the belt, the closure element is installed between first and second ends of the body to close the hook. The body defines at least a first through-hole and the closure member defines at least a second through-hole, the at least one fixing screw penetrating through the at least one first through-hole and the at least one second through-hole for securing the closing element with the body and close the first openable ring.

In a preferred configuration, the body and the closing element form anti-rotation means configured to prevent the rotation of the closing element relative to the body around the at least one fixing screw. Advantageously, the closure element and the first end and/or the second end of the body form a tongue/groove assembly forming the anti-rotation means.

In another development, the at least one fixing screw is supported on the first and second opposite ends of the body to press the first and second opposite ends of the body onto the closure element.

In an advantageous configuration, the closing element comprises a first shoulder coming into contact with an internal wall of the first part at the first end, the first shoulder being separated from the second ring by the fixing screw.

In a particular embodiment, the body defines a hook having an opening whose separation distance varies to define a stop and in which the closing element comprises a first shoulder coming into contact of the stop so that the first shoulder and the stop oppose extraction of the closing element towards the outside of the first ring.

In another preferred embodiment, the harness comprises a harness intended for the seat of a user, the harness being fixed to the closing element by two fixing points arranged equidistant from the fixing screw.

Advantageously, the first ring is larger than the second ring.

In a preferred configuration, a rope blocker and/or a lanyard are directly attached to the first ring.

The invention also relates to a method of mounting a connector on a harness which makes it possible to install a connector as close as possible to the center of gravity of a user to install a safety or belay device closer to the center severity of a user.

The process of mounting a connector on a harness involves the following steps:
  • the supply of a harness according to one of the previous configurations,
  • open the first ring, the body connecting the belt with the pair of thigh loops,
  • connect a rope blocker or a lanyard in the first ring,
  • close the first ring.

Description détailléedetailed description

A harness 1 according to the invention comprises a belt 2 and a pair of thigh loops 3 connected together by means of a connector 4 forming a ventral suspension point. Harness 1 is a rope harness for mountaineering, mountain activities or work at height. Such an embodiment is illustrated in figure 1 . When the user is suspended in the harness 1, the ventral suspension point makes it possible to make the mechanical connection between a mooring point on the one hand and the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 of the harness 1 on the other hand. A ventral suspension point connected directly to the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 allows for better distribution of forces when the user is suspended in their harness. The ventral suspension point is intended to be facing the user's abdomen and to comply with all regulations relating to a ventral suspension point.

The harness may optionally include shoulder straps, but it may also be without shoulder straps. It can be combined with removable straps or it can be combined with non-removable straps. In some embodiments, the straps are attached directly to the belt 2 and in other embodiments, the straps are attached indirectly to the belt 2, that is to say the mechanical connection between the straps and the belt 2 is made by means of an intermediate element.

If the harness includes means for opening/closing the belt 2, for example with metal buckles or snap-fit systems , the ventral suspension point is preferably distinct from the opening/closing means of the belt 2.

Advantageously, in the embodiment of the figure 1 , the harness has a belt buckle and a leg loop buckle which are both non-openable.

The harness 1 comprises a connector 4 which defines a first ring 20 and a second ring 30 distinct from the first ring 20. The two rings define two holes separated by material. The first ring 20 is mounted fixed relative to the second ring 30, to avoid the configuration of two links of a chain. The first ring 20 and the second ring 30 each define a closed contour.

The first ring 20 is mounted perpendicular to the second ring 30. In other words, the first ring 20 and the second ring 30 respectively have a first median longitudinal plane and a second median longitudinal plane, the first median longitudinal plane being perpendicular to the second median longitudinal plane.

When the user is suspended, the first ring 20 connects the belt 2 with the thigh loops which allows it to pivot along an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the belt 2 in order to be able to adapt the position of the second ring 30 compared to belt 2 and therefore better follow the user's position. The progression or safety device mounted in the second ring 6 can move relative to the median sagittal plane of the user according to his position in space without being hindered by the position of the first ring 20. The two rings being fixedly mounted relative to each other, the efforts are better transmitted between the progression or safety device and the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3.

Preferably, the first ring 20 defines a first hole which has a circular or substantially circular section. The distance from the circular section is preferentially located in the extension of the second ring 30 because this configuration less hinders the rotation of the first ring 20 against the belt 2 and the point of connection to the thigh loops 3. It is also preferable that the second ring 30 defines a second hole having a circular or substantially circular section to facilitate the movement of the progression or safety device under load.

The connector 4 has a body 5 also called the first part which cooperates at least with a closing element 6 also called spacer to form the first ring 20. The first ring 20 is an openable ring formed by at least two movable or removable mounted parts l 'one in relation to the other.

The first ring is formed at least in part by the body 5 and the closing element 6. It is preferable that the second ring 30 is formed solely by the closing element and preferably without participation of the body 5.

The first part 5 is an openable part with first and second opposite ends 5a. The first part 5 connects the pair of thigh loops 3 and the belt 2. The first part 5 is advantageously a monolithic part, that is to say unique. Preferably, the first part 5 defines a first ring 20 whose internal zone has a circular section to facilitate its rotation relative to the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 when the user is suspended by the ventral suspension point.

L'entretoise 6 et la première pièce 5 définissent ensemble le premier anneau 20.The spacer 6 is installed between the first and second ends 5a of the first part 5 to close the ring 20. The spacer 6 and the first part 5 together define the first ring 20.

In the configuration illustrated in figures 2 to 9 , the first part 5 defines a hook which is closed by the closing element 6 to delimit the main hole in the first ring 20. The first and second ends 5a of the first part 5 delimit the opening of the hook which authorizes the insertion or extraction of an anchoring element in the first ring 1, for example a lanyard or a rope blocker or any other non-openable element. The opening of the hook also allows the installation of the first ring 20 in the loops of the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3. In this way, the securing element is arranged as close as possible to the belt 2 and the pair of thigh loops 3 and in particular close to the user's center of gravity.

Lorsque le premier anneau 20 est ouvert, il est possible d'introduire un élément d'assurage dans le premier anneau 20 ou de retirer ce dernier hors du premier anneau 20.The first ring 20 provides the mechanical connection between the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 to facilitate a transfer of weight between the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 when the user is suspended. The spacer 6 is formed to be removable relative to the first part 5 so as to open or close the first ring 20. When the first ring 20 is open, it is possible to introduce an anchoring element into the first ring 20 or to remove the latter from the first ring 20.

The closing element 6 is mounted removable relative to the body 5 so as to open or close the first ring 20. When the first ring 20 is open, it is possible to introduce a securing element into the first ring or to remove the latter from the first ring 20. These operations are impossible when the first ring 20 is closed.

The spacer 6 has a body which is shaped to define a second ring 30. The spacer 6 is held fixedly to the first part 5 by means of a fixing screw 7. The body of the spacer 6 defines a through hole 8 and the fixing screw 7 passes through the through hole 8 to maintain the mechanical connection between the spacer 6 and the first part 5. Depending on the configurations, the spacer 6 can be fixed to the body 5 by means of one or two fixing screws 7.

When a single fixing screw 7 is used, it is advantageous that the fixing screw 7 inserts into a first through hole of the body 5, passes through the through hole of the closing element 6 to cooperate with another first hole of the body 5 passing through or not. It is advantageous that at least one of the through holes of the body 5 is threaded to cooperate with the thread of the fixing screw 7. It is also preferable that the through hole of the fastener is not threaded.

The fixing screw 7 rests on the two opposite ends 5a of the hook to maintain the mechanical connection between the body 5 and the closing element 6. Preferably, the fixing screw 7 connects the two ends 5a of the hook and applies under compressive stress on the closing element 6 to prevent the screw 7 from being stressed in bending when the user is suspended in his harness. The fixing screw 7 holds the two ends 5a of the body 5 in position relative to each other so that, under tension, the body 5 does not deform.

The second ring 30 defined in the spacer 6 is distinct from the first ring 20 defined in the first part 5. The figures illustrate an embodiment which uses a fixing screw 7, but the latter can be replaced by a fixing rod making the same function, for example a rod cooperating with a clip or a pin to ensure that the spacer 6 remains fixed to the first part 5 during its use.

This configuration is advantageous because it makes it possible to produce a first ring 5 which better resists the forces applied and in particular the shocks which may appear during a fall compared to a carabiner type configuration. The best mechanical strength of a carabiner is generally obtained along its long axis, which requires it to work in this particular direction. The user must therefore be vigilant to ensure that the carabiner does not tip into an unsuitable position. It is also important that the finger of the carabiner does not open unexpectedly, which requires the use of a finger with a locking system, for example a screw. It appears that the carabiner is bulky and that the finger locking system complicates rotation under load.

The proposed configuration makes it possible to produce a compact and resistant connector 4 which makes it possible to have a pivot axis of the second ring 6 close to the user's center of gravity, that is to say close to the abdomen. The first ring 5 can be opened to position the pivot axis as close as possible to the user's center of gravity.

The fixing screw 7 passes through at least part of the first part 5 and through the through hole 8 to fix the spacer 6 with the first part 5 and close the first openable ring 20. The first part 5 defines an orifice 9 in one of the ends 5a to facilitate the fixing of the spacer 6 with the first part 5. Preferably, the fixing screw 7 connects the two ends of the hook to better distribute the forces during suspension of the user.

The fixing screw 7 holds the two ends 5a of the first part 5 in position relative to each other so that, under tension, the first part 5 does not deform.

De manière avantageuse, le trou défini par le premier anneau 20 est séparé du trou défini par le second anneau 30 par la vis de fixation 7.Advantageously, the hole defined by the first ring 20 is separated from the hole defined by the second ring 30 by the fixing screw 7.

The connector 4 defines a first ring 20 and a second ring 30 which is distinct from the first ring 20. The first ring 20 and the second ring 30 each define a closed contour. Preferably, the two rings are mounted stationary relative to each other, preferably when the spacer 6 is mounted between the two ends of the hook. A force applied to one of the rings is better transmitted to the other ring, which facilitates the handling of the connector 4 compared to a first ring associated with a type “8” descender. It is also advantageous that the two rings are mounted removable in relation to each other only by means of the fixing screw(s) 7.

It is advantageous for the connector 4 to have means for anti-rotation of the first ring 20 relative to the second ring 30 and, more generally, means for anti-rotation of the first part 5 relative to the spacer. 6. It is interesting to provide that the connector 4 includes anti-rotation means which prevent the rotation of the spacer 6 around the fixing screw 7. It is also advantageous that the two rings 20 and 30 are mounted in one piece one in relation to the other once connector 4 is mounted.

In a particular configuration, the first end 5a and/or the second end 5a of the hook cooperate with the spacer 6 in the form of a tongue/groove assembly. The tongue/groove assembly prevents rotation of the spacer 6 relative to the first part 5. Two different tongue/groove configurations are illustrated in figures 3 And 8 , but other configurations are possible.

In one embodiment, the first end 5a of the hook forms a projecting tongue and the spacer 6 defines one or two grooves cooperating with the tongue of the first end 5a to define a direction of insertion or extraction of the spacer 6 between the first and second ends 5a. In the embodiment of the Figure 3 , one face of the upper end 5a forms a flat surface which rests on a flat edge of the groove defined in the spacer.

It is advantageous for the first end 5a and the second end 5a and/or the two opposite faces of the spacer 6 to have different shapes in order to allow the insertion of the spacer 6 between the two ends 5a of the hook in a single configuration or only a few configurations and prohibit other types of assembly. The insertion of the spacer 6 into the opening of the hook is done by translation and once installed, rotation relative to the first part 5 is impossible, except for assembly clearance.

It is particularly advantageous for the fixing screw 7 to bear simultaneously on the first and second opposite ends 5a of the first part 5 to press the first and second opposite ends 5a of the first part 5 onto the spacer 6. The fixing screw 7 brings the two opposite ends 5a of the first part 5 together and applies a force to the spacer 6. In this configuration, the forces applied to the spacer 6 are better transferred to the first part 5 so that the fixing screw 7 works less in shear or does not work in shear.

Cela permet de réduire la section de la vis de fixation 7 et donc l'encombrement du connecteur 4.It is also advantageous to provide that the spacer 6 comprises a first shoulder 10 which comes into contact with the side walls of the hook and in particular at the level of the first end 5a. In this way, when a force is applied to the spacer 6 to extract it from the opening of the hook, the first shoulder 10 moves slightly to come into contact with the side wall of the hook. Alternatively, there is default contact between the shoulder 10 and the internal wall of the hook which prevents the spacer 6 from moving relative to the first part 5 beyond a threshold position. This arrangement makes it possible to limit the shear stresses applied to the fixing screw 7. It is particularly advantageous to produce a shoulder 10 which comes into contact with the internal wall of the ring 20 and not in contact with the external wall of the ring 20. In this way, when the user is suspended by means of the spacer 6, the force is transmitted to the first part 5 without the fixing screw 7 being overly stressed in shear. This makes it possible to reduce the section of the fixing screw 7 and therefore the size of the connector 4.

Les deux épaulements 10 permettent de mieux gérer la transmission d'effort entre l'entretoise 4 et la première pièce 5.Preferably, the spacer 6 comprises a second shoulder 10 coming into contact with an internal wall of the first part 5 at the level of the second end 5a. The first and second shoulders 10 project from two opposite faces of the spacer 6. The two shoulders 10 make it possible to better manage the transmission of force between the spacer 4 and the first part 5.

It is also advantageous to provide a fixing screw 7 or any other fixing means which allows the application of a force aimed at bringing the two ends 5a of the hook together. By bringing the two ends 5a of the hook together, the spacer 6 is placed under stress and the fixing screw 7 works along its longitudinal axis which has the effect of reducing the value of the shear forces applied during suspension. For example, the fixing screw 7 is supported on the first and second opposite ends 5a of the first part 5 to press the first and second opposite ends 5a of the first part 5 onto the spacer 6.

It is advantageous for the first ring 20 to be larger than the second ring 30. In a preferred configuration, the largest dimension perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fixing screw 7 is less than the dimension of the first ring 20 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fixing screw 7 which allows, if necessary, the rotation of the spacer 6 around the fixing screw 7 while passing through the first ring 20.

Preferably, the body 5 is formed from steel or an aluminum alloy. It is also advantageous for the closure element 6 to be formed from steel or an aluminum alloy. The body 5 is preferably fixed to the harness 1 on textile elements.

En considérant que le premier anneau 20 est un cercle, l'élément de fermeture 6 représente un arc de cercle plus d'un quart de l'anneau à 120°.In an advantageous mode of configuration, the closure element 6 represents more than 90° and preferably more than 120° and the second ring 30 is formed at one end of the closure element 6 and it extends over less than a third of the angle formed by the closing element 6. Considering that the first ring 20 is a circle, the closing element 6 represents an arc of a circle more than a quarter of the ring at 120° .

Dans un autre mode de réalisation, l'élément de fermeture 6 représente moins de 90° et le deuxième anneau 30 est formé au centre de l'élément de fermeture 6.In another embodiment, the closing element 6 represents less than 90° and the second ring 30 is formed in the center of the closing element 6.

The spacer 6 and the first part 5 form two rings arranged perpendicular to each other. This configuration makes it possible to dissociate the movements of connector 4 according to the forces applied.

THE figures 8 And 9 illustrate another embodiment of a connector 4 in which the insertion of the spacer 6 in the first part 5 is carried out in a direction different from the direction of insertion illustrated in Figure 3 . In the embodiment of the Figure 3 , the spacer 6 is introduced in a direction which corresponds or corresponds substantially to a radius of the ring which passes through the opening. The shoulder 10 can be arranged so that insertion is carried out only from the inside of the ring towards the opening of the hook. On the contrary, in the embodiment illustrated in figure 8 , the insertion of the spacer 6 into the opening is carried out perpendicular to the transverse median plane of the hook.

La reprise d'effort peut être obtenue par un assemblage languette-rainure s'étendant perpendiculairement au plan médian transverse et définissant la direction d'insertion de l'entretoise 6.As for the previous embodiment, it is advantageous to use anti-rotation means of the spacer 6 relative to the first part 5 around the fixing screw 7. The anti-rotation assembly can be formed by a tongue-groove association and/or by flats arranged on the side walls of the spacer 6 and the first part 5. It is also advantageous to form a repeating assembly in which the first part 5 takes up the forces applied to the spacer 6 to separate it from the first part in the direction corresponding to a radius passing through the opening. The force recovery can be obtained by a tongue-groove assembly extending perpendicular to the transverse median plane and defining the direction of insertion of the spacer 6.

In the embodiment of the Figure 10 , the opening of the hook defined by the first part 5 is much larger than in the previous embodiments so that two fixing screws are necessary or an anchor point and a fixing screw. In this case, the spacer 6 completely defines the second ring and it delimits a larger part of the first ring. In the illustrated embodiment, two fixing screws are introduced in a direction included in the transverse median plane, but it is also possible to provide that the first part and the spacer 6 partially overlap so as to authorize the fixing of these two parts by a fixing screw perpendicular to the transverse median plane. In the illustrated embodiment, the body 5 and the closing element 6 represent substantially half of the first ring 20. The first interface between the body 5 and the closing element 6 is defined by the mark 5b. The other interface corresponds to contact with the second diametrically opposite ring. The two arrows represent the two directions of insertion of the two fixing screws.

It is also possible to provide that the first part 5 is not in one piece and is formed by two elements fixed to one another by a fixing screw to define the hook shape closed by the spacer 6. The fixing screw fixing 7 passing through the inside of the hook to fix the spacer 6 to the first part 5. The first part can be formed by more than two elements.

It is still possible to provide an embodiment in which the spacer 6 closes the first ring by means of two screws which are inserted on either side of the second ring.

These embodiments are less advantageous than those illustrated because they require more handling and for example more screws to fix to close the first ring.

In a particular embodiment illustrated in figure 1 , the harness 1 comprises a harness 11 as well as attachment elements 12 allowing the harness 11 to be attached to the spacer 6. The spacer 6 comprises two fixing points 13 advantageously arranged equidistant from the first ring and preferably equidistant of the fixing screw 7. When the user is suspended by means of the spacer 6, the first ring 5 rotates to adapt its position to the user's suspension efforts.

When the user decides to sit on the harness 11, the movement of the weight always applies to the spacer and causes the rotation of the first ring 5 relative to the belt 2 and the two thigh loops 3. The movement weight is better managed by the user.

In the illustrated embodiment, the two attachment points of the spacer 6 with the saddle 11 or the attachment elements 12 of the saddle 11 are separated from the main through hole. Two through holes 13 are formed in the spacer 6 between the two main holes of the first part 5 and the spacer 6. Two opposite ends of the saddle are fixed to the two through holes 13. Advantageously, the two elements d The hooks 12 are carabiners which allow easy installation and disassembly of the harness in relation to the connector. It is also advantageous for the saddle 11 to be fixed to the spacer 6 by two intermediate connectors 14 which are distinct from the first part 5 and which are mounted movable relative to the first part 5. The two intermediate connectors 14 are for example shackles. The two intermediate connectors are movable independently of each other and they are movable relative to the spacer 6 and relative to the first part 5. The two intermediate connectors can pass through two through holes 6a of the spacer arranged equidistant from the first ring, for example from the fixing screw 7.

In the embodiment illustrated in figure 1 , the user is suspended by means of a rope 15 fixed higher up. The rope 15 passes through the second ring 30. When the user moves relative to the rope 15, the first ring 20 moves to the right or to the left and/or it pivots to the right side or to the left side to follow the user position. The first ring can also pivot to point towards the user's head or feet. By using two rings mounted fixed relative to each other, the user's weight can be moved more easily relative to the suspension point. Mounting two rings perpendicularly as close as possible to the belt and thigh loops makes it easier to use the harness.

Advantageously illustrated in figures 11 and 12 , the belt 2 and the pair of thigh loops 3 are also connected by a ring 16 made of textile element. There are two mechanical connections that connect the belt 2 and the pair of towers of thigh 3. The ring 16 made of textile element ensures the mechanical connection when the connector 4 is dismantled.

It is also preferable that the harness 1 comprises a lanyard 17 and/or a rope blocker 18 and/or are directly fixed to the first ring 20. These embodiments are illustrated in figures 11 and 12 . The rope blocker 18 has a first end fixed to the first ring 20. The other end of the rope blocker 18 is fixed to the user's shoulders, for example by shoulder straps or a strap 19. The rope blocker 18 comprises a means of blocking a rope, for example a cam which allows the rope to move in only one direction. The cam can be unlocked by means of a trigger 21.

The installation of the connector 4 on the harness 1 is carried out by opening the first ring 20 and introducing the belt 2 and the thigh loops 3 into the first ring 20. The first ring 20 is closed. The first ring can be opened again to insert a lanyard or rope blocker.

A rope is mounted in the second ring, preferably directly, to allow the user to suspend himself in his harness by means of the rope. The user is then kept in suspension by means of the rope attached to the spacer.
