Definitions
- the invention relates to an identification document with biometric image information.
- the invention relates to an identification document with a carrier on which image information of a person is reproduced in a personalization area.
- a multi-layer data carrier is known from EP1044826 A1, on which image information is formed.
- the data carrier can in particular be an identification card, the image information in particular a portrait photo of an authorized owner of the identification card.
- the image information consists, on the one hand, of a color image which is applied to the surface of a substrate, which in turn is arranged on a conference carrier layer.
- the image information consists of pixels formed in the substrate layer or on the carrier layer.
- the pixels consist of features of the original image that are relevant to recognition.
- the pixels with the characteristics relevant to the detection are written into the substrate by means of laser radiation.
- a security document is known from WO 2018/093251 A1 which bears a main picture of a holder and also an authentication picture of the holder.
- the authentication image is placed under a lens arrangement and consists of the superposition of a negative and a positive of the main image.
- the authentication picture is a flip picture that changes between two states. Depending on the viewing angle, it shows the positive or the negative. Positive and negative are generated with a laser through the lens arrangement.
- reference points can be used for orientation be provided, for example on the eyes or mouth. The arrangement makes it easy to recognize changes in the images after they have been changed. Added dark elements stand out against the negative.
- a security element for flexible security documents with a multi-channel printed flip image which changes between a plurality of states.
- the flip image has several sub-regions that generate different optically variable images depending on the viewing angle, in particular complementary images.
- the image elements of the sub-regions are each assigned to a lens element. Taking the lens parameters into account, they are arranged offset from one another, so that different states of the images are visible from different viewing angles. The result is a complex positive-negative state change effect that cannot be easily imitated in terms of printing technology.
- the picture elements are pixels of a photo and are dimensioned in relation to the lens parameters in such a way that when viewed, a quasi-continuous transition from one final state of the picture to the other takes place.
- EP 1044826 A1 discloses a data carrier which can be used as an identification card and to which a portrait photo as an original image and additionally features relevant to recognition obtained from the original image are applied.
- the features relevant to recognition are characteristic facial features. They can also take the form of a line drawing.
- the detection-relevant features are applied separately from the original image using a laser system. They overlay the original image with a precise fit or are placed separately in a special effect area of the data carrier.
- the special effects area can be an area prepared for tilt image effects.
- the object of the invention is to further increase the security against forgery and to improve the longevity of an identification document. This task is solved by an identification document with the
- the identification document according to the invention has the advantage that a clear plastic overall impression of the biometric image information is created for a viewer in the perception of the combined image information from the base image and the derivative image.
- the great plasticity improves the recognizability of the geometric connections and shapes in an image compared to a mere highlighting of light and dark in positive-negative effects.
- the recognition of image information itself is based precisely on the recognizability of the geometric relationships and shapes in an image. By supporting this by highlighting elements that are essential for recognition, the invention permits particularly rapid and reliable visual recognition of image information or manipulation thereof .
- the targeted emphasis on individual biometric features in the derivative image also complicates the so-called morphing, i.e. the computer-aided determination of an image, in particular a photo, that is sufficiently similar to two different people so that both people can use the same image to prove their identity.
- the identification document according to the invention has the further advantage that the biometric image information is very long-term stable. Since two pictures that are different per se have to be created, the identification documents are difficult imitate and the counterfeit security increases. Because the image information lies within the identification document, it has a great longevity.
- the biometric image information consists of the basic information and additional information which is coordinated with it and which is formed on or above the lens arrangement.
- the basic information advantageously includes a black and white photo, the additional information a corresponding color photo.
- a practical advantage of the invention is that no complex new systems and no special materials are required to implement it.
- the implementation is therefore inexpensive.
- the invention complicates, among other things, such manipulations of identification documents which are aimed at only certain parts essential to recognition, e.g. To overlay eyes, nose and mouth with a photo, a biometric image information with manipulated new image information, in the expectation that the image information, which is otherwise left unchanged, can pretend to be complete.
- the method according to the invention makes it possible to record a brilliant, high-resolution color or black-and-white image on a data carrier and, in the process, to produce a high level of security against forgery in that, in addition to the base image, specifically recognition-relevant image elements, for example in the form of a line drawing, one which is particularly accentuated or filtered in parts of the image
- the frame of the base image or a specific image contour follow the corresponding negative image as further components are introduced into the inner structure of the data carrier.
- Fig. 1 a cross section through an identification document
- Fig.5 a variant of the structure of an identification document.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic, not to scale representation of an inventive identification document 1 in cross section.
- the identification document 1 is typically an identification card, for example an identity card in credit card format, or a data page in a passport book. However, it can also be in other design forms, for example in the form of a key fob.
- the identification document 1 has a carrier 10 on which a recording layer 11 is arranged, over which an intermediate layer 19 lies.
- a lens arrangement 20 is formed over the intermediate layer 19.
- a cover layer 40 can optionally be formed over the lens arrangement 20.
- the layers 10, 11, 19, 20 are typically joined together by lamination.

- the lens arrangement 20 is at least partially arranged in the biometric personalization area 3.
- the lens arrangement 20 preferably completely covers the biometric personalization area 3.
- the lens arrangement 20 has the effect that different images can be seen under the lens arrangement 20 depending on the viewing angle a1, a2. When changing the viewing angle, one image changes into the other. Depending on the viewing angle, the various images overlap for a viewer, with a first image dominating the overall impression at a first defined viewing angle al and a second image at a second defined viewing angle a2.
- the carrier 10 typically consists of a single-layer or multi-layer plastic layer in a card format. Instead of plastic, other materials can also be used, for example paper.

- the recording layer 11 is expediently laserable. For this purpose it is doped with soot, for example.
- the basic information 12 can then be introduced into the recording layer 11 using a suitable laser with high spatial precision.
- the information is generated, for example, by blackening to produce pixels 18.
- the pixels 18 can be round, but can also have the shape of lines or lines or on others Basic forms are based.
- the basic information 12 is typically generated on the underside 17 of the recording layer 11 facing the carrier 10.
- the individual pixels 18 have, as indicated in FIG. 5, a spatial dimension and typically extend into the recording layer 11.
- the three-dimensional shape of the individual pixels 18 is similar to a cone tip when produced by laser. Pixels 18 can, as indicated in FIG. 1, also partially submit into the carrier 10.
- the intermediate layer 19 is also made of plastic and is transparent. It is expediently not laser-sensitive, but it can also be laser-sensitive. It is optional and can also be omitted. If it is present, its thickness is advantageously 100 to 200 gm.
- the lens arrangement 20 consists of a transparent plastic layer, in the surface of which a lens grid 21 is formed.
- the plastic layer expediently extends over the entire carrier 10.
- the lens grid 21 expediently covers only a part of the plastic layer. It is placed in such a way that it lies above the basic information 12 in the finished identification document 1 and is visible through the lens arrangement 20.

- Base image 15 and / or derivative image 16 can contain additional security information in addition to the biometric image content.
- additional security information can consist, for example, of a guilloche pattern or text that forms the background of the image.
- the additional security information can also be an individual personal date, for example the date of birth.
- Both parts of basic information 12, basic Image 15 and derivative image 16 are expediently formed by juxtaposition of the individual pixels 18 in the same plane on the underside 17 of the recording layer 11 and in the recording layer 11, respectively.
- both parts of the basic biometric information 12, i.e. Base picture 15 and derivative picture 16 visible at the same time.
- the overall impression is dominated by the basic image 15, if it is viewed from a second defined viewing angle a2, the overall impression is dominated by the derivative image 16.
- the base image 15 and the derivative image 16 overlap for an observer in such a way that the viewer perceives the combined image information from the base image and the derivative image as a clear, plastic overall impression of the bio metric image information.
- the identification document 1 By slightly tilting the identification document 1 back and forth, the overall impression of high plasticity is enhanced. This supports and facilitates the identification of a person depicted on the basic picture with a living person.
- a carrier 1 is expediently provided, which already has personalization areas 3, 4 and a lens arrangement 20. In other words, an identification document 1 that is ready for personalization is provided.
- a base image 15 is also provided, i.e. a photo of the holder of the identification document.
- a derivative image 16 is derived from the base image 15, expediently arithmetically using suitable filters or transformation functions, from the base image 15, which shows or accentuates a recognition-essential component of the base image 15.

- the generation is preferably carried out by means of a laser.
- the position of the portions of the basic biometric information 12 can be calculated on the basis of the geometry of the lens arrangement 20.
- the information which is expediently present in the form of pixels 18 can then be lasered or applied by printing technology. Such a printing application can expediently take place on the underside 17 of the recording layer 17 before it is connected to the carrier 10.
- the basic image 15 is introduced in such a way that it is recognizable when viewed from a first defined viewing angle al or dominates the overall impression, the derivative image 16 in such a way that it is recognizable from a second defined viewing angle ct2 or dominates the overall impression.
- the complementary image 33 is expediently applied directly to the surface 22 of the lens arrangement 20 by printing technology.
- the printing inks used are preferably not laser-sensitive.
- the ink is applied in such a way that pixels 18 of the complementary image 33 also arise in particular on the flanks of the lens arrangement 20 and in the valleys between the lens tips.
- the application of the complementary image 33 can take place before the formation of the biometric image information 12 of the recording layer 11.
- the implementation of the training of the basic biometric information 12 can then be based on the already existing complementary image 33.
- the basic biometric information 12 can also be created first and the complementary image 33 then matched to the position of the base image 15 and / or derivative image 16.
- FIG. 5 schematically shows a variant of a construction of an identification element 1.
- an image carrier layer 30 is formed over the lens arrangement 20 in the variant according to FIG. 5 and the additional information 23 is not on the lens arrangement 20 ge printed, but on the image carrier layer 30.
