Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a mouth and nose protector with a mask for covering a person's mouth and nose at the same time, the mask consisting of a blank of a flat filter medium.
  • a mask is a face covering that covers part or all of a person's face.
  • face half masks are used, particularly in the medical and nursing sector, which consist of one or more paper or fleece layers that can be attached to the back of the head or behind the ears with ribbons or rubber bands. Since the mask covers the mouth and nose at the same time, these half masks are also referred to as mouth-nose protection.
  • the mask of a typical mouth and nose protection consists of a cut of a flat filter medium, whereby the filter medium can consist of one or more layers of paper or plastic fleece.
  • Additional devices are usually provided on the mask of a mouth and nose protector, which are intended in particular for holding and positioning the mask on the head.
  • a flexible metal bracket is often provided in the middle at the upper edge of the filter material blank of the mask. With this, the mouth and nose protection can be pressed against the bridge of the nose and shaped so that the mouth and nose protection is flush with the face.
  • On the side edges of the mouth and nose protection mask there are typically straps or elastics with which the mouth and nose protection is attached to the back of the head or behind the ears when worn.
  • Mouth and nose protectors are divided into different type classes depending on the filter performance, and the higher the filter performance, the greater the breathing resistance typically becomes. Particularly high demands are placed on those embodiments that are intended to meet the standards for respiratory protection masks (FFP-1, FFP-2, FFP-3 or BFE 98).
  • FFP-1, FFP-2, FFP-3 or BFE 98 the standards for respiratory protection masks
  • a mouth and nose protector with a mask for covering the mouth and nose of a person at the same time consisting of a blank of a flat filter medium, which is characterized in that the blank between the upper edge of the mask and the bottom edge of the mask is horizontally zig-zag folded and forms at least 5 folds, each of which has a fold back lying on the outside of the mask and two fold flanks extending from the fold back, with the height of the fold flanks rising both from the upper edge of the mask and decreases from the bottom edge of the mask towards the center of the mask.
  • the mask has at least five folds with a fold back lying on the outside of the mask, there are at least four fold backs on the inner side of the mask, which results in a total of at least nine fold backs, between which the filter material extends over the fold flanks .
  • the mouth and nose protector according to the invention adapts optimally to the respective anatomy of the face when worn and ensures that the mouth and nose protector can fit flush on all sides.
  • a fold in the sense of the present invention consists of a fold back and two fold flanks starting from the fold back.
  • the back of the fold runs on each horizontal bend in the zigzag-folded filter medium, and the respective fold flanks extend between a fold back on the outside and the two next next fold backs on the inside.
  • the height of these fold flanks is the distance between the two fold backs between which the respective fold flank extends. Because the pleated back over parallel to the cut of the filter medium, the height of a fold flank is constant throughout
  • the zigzag fold of the mask is aligned horizontally. This means that the ridges of the folds extend horizontally between the upper edge and the lower edge of the mouth and nose protector.
  • the terms top and bottom here refer to the situation when wearing the mouth and nose protector, with the top edge running over the nose and the bottom edge running over the chin or under the chin.
  • the mask has an inside and an outside.
  • the inside of the mask is the side that faces the face when wearing the mouth and nose protector.
  • the outside of the mask is the side that faces outwards when wearing the mouth and nose protector. If you count the ridges from the top and bottom edge of the mask to the middle, then - depending on how the zigzag fold is aligned - the odd-numbered ridges point inwards, i.e. towards the face, and all the even-numbered ridges point outwards , or the other way around.
  • the mask is formed from a substantially rectangular blank of filter media.
  • other cut geometries can also be considered, such as a hexagonal or even octagonal cut, as long as it is ensured that the mask provided is large enough to cover the mouth and nose at the same time.
  • the mask has at least 5 folds, each of which has a fold back lying on the outside of the mask. If the number of ridges on the inner mask and the number of ridges on the outer side of the mask are taken together, the sum total is at least 9 ridges per mouth and nose protector according to the invention.
  • the folded blank forms 6 to 12 folds, each of which has a fold back lying on the outside of the mask and two fold flanks emanating from the fold back, with the height of the fold flanks varying both from the upper edge of the mask and from the lower edge of the mask Mask decreases towards the center of the mask.
  • the folded blank forms 6 to 10 such folds.
  • the folded blank forms 7 to 9 such folds.
  • 9 folds are provided with the back of the folds lying on the outside of the mask.
  • 7 folds are provided with the back of the folds lying on the outside of the mask.
  • 5 or 6 folds are provided with the back of the folds lying on the outside of the mask.
  • the number of ridges on the outer side of the mask is 1 greater than the number of ridges on the inner side of the mask.
  • the number of folds counted from the lower edge of the mask to the middle is 1 greater than the number of folds counted from the upper edge of the mask to the middle.
