Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present disclosure relates generally to a holding device for receiving and holding together one or more cards or envelopes, such as a greeting card and its associated envelope. Furthermore, the disclosure relates to a method for folding a banderole.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Greeting cards on the market are often tightly packed together with their envelopes in plastic bags. Since the packaging has to be opened in order for the customer to examine the greeting cards, the convenience of this solution is severely limited. Furthermore, packaging in plastic is detrimental to environmental protection. Other solutions from the prior art for packaging greeting cards and their envelopes together include, among other things, inserting the greeting cards into the envelope when they are sold. With this variant, the greeting cards must be removed from the envelope by the customer before the purchase decision and then reinserted. If there is a high volume of customers, this can lead to a lot of wear and tear on the envelopes, which can lead to a deterioration in aesthetics. There is also the possibility of the envelope being lost.

The GB 2573772 A describes a holding device for holding at least two sheets, which includes a connecting portion with first and second opposite ends. Each of the ends folds into first and second pockets for holding two or more sheets. The pockets may be formed by foldable sections at the ends, each of which has a first segment extending along a first fold pivoting, and optionally includes a second segment foldable along a line. The pockets may be maintained by attaching the second segments to the connecting portion or by securing strips connected to the second sections along further fold lines and interacting side by side with the connecting portion. A method of holding cards using the holding device is also disclosed.

The US 2,326,366 A describes a paper fastener that includes a sheet of foldable material. The sheet includes an elongated center section and a pair of tabs on its side edges which are adapted to be folded overlapping onto the center section. Further, the sheet includes means for attaching the free ends of the tabs together to form a continuous flat band adapted to receive a corner of a stack of paper sheets, a tongue at the top of the center portion, which is co-located with the corner of the paper foldable onto the tongues, and a foldable extension on the tongue that is adapted to fold under the tongue and tongues.

The DE 42 37 452 C1 describes an envelope with an associated greeting card, with slots, corners and/or pockets for receiving the greeting cards being provided on at least one outside, exclusively on the side edges of the envelope.

The US 2006/090303 A1 describes a fastening device for holding a group of documents together. The fastening device comprises a foldable sheet, for example made of paper, which is divided into at least one anchor section and at least one tab section. Fasteners, such as repositionable adhesive, provide attachment of these sections to at least the first and last documents of the group after they have been folded around the edge of the group. To support this, the sheet is provided with at least one fold line marked, which is to be aligned with at least one edge of the group when attaching the anchor part to the first document of the group before the tab part is folded around this edge of the group for attachment to the last document of the group. Preferred embodiments use two mutually orthogonal fold lines that intersect at or outside the perimeter of the mounting sheet.

The solutions from the prior art have complicated folding schemes, which can have a high amount of waste.

DESCRIPTION

It can therefore be considered an object of the invention to provide an environmentally friendly way of securely and releasably connecting and holding together one or more sheets or cards. This task is solved by a band according to independent claim 1.

According to one aspect, a band includes a main section and a first folding section at a first end of the main section. The first folding section has a first section and a second section, the second section being connected to the first section and the first section being connected to the main section. The first folding section is designed so that it can be folded in the direction of the main section so that the first partial section rests on a first side of the main section. This creates a first pocket. Furthermore, the second subsection is designed, when the first subsection abuts the main section, to be folded over the main section and towards a second side of the main section, which is opposite the first side, and attached to the main section. The ratio of a total width of the band in the unfolded state to a width of the main section of the band is less than 1.4.

According to the arrangement described, the first section is located in the unfolded state of the band between the second section and the main section of the band.

The main section has a first edge and a second edge opposite the first edge. The first folding section can be designed so that it can be folded either in the direction of the first edge or in the direction of the second edge when folding in the direction of the main section. The first folding section can therefore connect to the second edge of the band and is folded towards the first edge. The first folding section can also connect to the first edge of the band and be folded towards the second edge.

The fact that two sections rest against each other means that the first of the two sections touches the second of the two sections at least at points and the two sections run essentially parallel to one another. For example, in the folded state of the band, the first section touches the main section at least at points, is essentially parallel to the main section and overlaps it.

The insert pocket formed lies between the first section and one side of the main section of the band, with a pointed corner being located in the insert pocket opposite its opening. A flat object can be inserted or inserted into the pocket, for example a greeting card. In particular, a corner of the greeting card is inserted or pushed into the pocket formed.

After the first folding process, only the first partial area lies against the main section or overlaps it, whereas the second partial section protrudes beyond the main section and thereby enables the second folding process towards the second side of the main section. In the first Folding process, the entire first folding section is folded towards one side (eg the front) of the main section and in the second folding process only the second partial section of the first folding section is folded towards the other side (eg the back) of the main section. After the second folding process, the second partial section runs essentially parallel to the second side of the main section and can be attached to it.

The simple folding scheme with only two folds has the advantage over the prior art that it is very intuitive, easy to understand, can even be easily carried out by machine, and reduces the material requirement.

The band can be made of paper or plastic.

According to one embodiment, the band further has a second folding section at a second end of the main section, which is opposite the first end. The second folding section has a third section and a fourth section, the fourth section being connected to the third section and the third section being connected to the main section. The second folding section is designed so that it can be folded in the direction of the main section so that the third section rests on the first side of the main section. This creates a second pocket. Furthermore, the fourth subsection is designed, when the third subsection rests against the main section, to be folded over the main section and towards the second side of the main section and attached to the main section.

The fourth section is similar to the second section and the third section is similar to the first section. The second folding section can be designed so that it can be folded in the same direction, towards the first edge, as the first folding section. The second However, the folding section can also be designed so that it can be folded in the opposite direction, towards the second edge, which further reduces waste.

The first insert pocket and the second insert pocket of this embodiment are intended to each receive one of two diagonally opposite corners of the one or more sheets/cards/envelopes to be received and thereby hold the sheets/cards/envelopes together. Information regarding the contained or summarized elements can also be printed on the band.

According to a further embodiment, the second section has a first fastening lug.

The first fastening lug is designed to attach the second section to the main section when the first section abuts the first side of the main section and the second section abuts the second side of the main section. In embodiments with two folding sections, the fourth section may similarly include a second attachment tab for securing the fourth section to the main section when the third section abuts the first side of the main section and the fourth section abuts the second side of the main section. The second attachment tab may have the same shape or a different shape as the first attachment tab and may use the same type of attachment or a different type of attachment as the first attachment tab.

According to a further embodiment, the first fastening lug is designed as an adhesive lug.

The adhesive nose can be rounded/circular or any other shape. Furthermore, the adhesive nose can be located completely within the second section or extend the second section in such a way that one end of the second section is shaped differently by the adhesive nose. The adhesive nose can be pre-wetted with adhesives such as liquid glue, double-sided adhesive tape, or other suitable adhesives of any kind on its inside, i.e. on the side of the second section which faces the main section in the fully folded state, around the second section and the main section to stick together upon contact. However, the adhesive nose can also be designed to adhere the second section to the main section using other suitable adhesives, such as single-sided adhesive strips, via its outside, i.e. the side of the second section which faces away from the main section in the fully folded state.

In embodiments with two folding sections, the second folding section on the fourth section can have a second adhesive nose in an analogous manner to the second section of the first folding section in order to glue the fourth section to the main section.

According to a further embodiment, the first fastening lug is designed as an insertion lug and the main section further has a first insertion opening which is configured to receive the first insertion lug.

The first insertion opening can be, for example, a loop or a slot in the main section. The insertion opening is placed so that it can accommodate and hold the first insertion nose when fully folded. In embodiments with two folding sections, the second folding section can have a second insertion nose in a manner analogous to the first folding section, with the main section having a second insertion opening that matches the second folding section.

The first insertion nose and the second insertion nose can have different shapes, such as an at least partially circular shape or a conical shape. However, the first insertion nose and the second insertion nose can also be an integral part of the second section or the fourth section, for example as beveled edges of the second or fourth section. The first insertion nose and the second insertion nose can have the same shape or different shapes in embodiments with two folding sections.

According to a further embodiment, the main section further has a first edge, a second edge opposite the first edge, a first inclined edge, and a first fold line, and the first fold line forms a right angle with the first inclined edge.

The first edge and the second edge are essentially parallel to one another and the first inclined edge adjoins the first edge at an angle α . In embodiments with two folding sections, the main section may also have a second beveled edge. In variants of these embodiments in which the second folding portion is configured to be folded in the same direction, toward the first edge, as the first folding portion, the second beveled edge adjoins the first edge at an angle β. In variants of these embodiments in which the second folding portion is configured to be folded in the opposite direction, toward the second edge, as the first folding portion, the second beveled edge adjoins the second edge at the angle α .

The right angle between the first fold line and the first bias edge allows the first pocket to accommodate a first corner of a rectangular card. The right angle corresponds to an opening angle of the insert pocket and can be adjusted to an angle of a corner of the card to be inserted.

Furthermore, in embodiments with two fold sections, the band can have a third fold line, which forms a right angle with the second slanted edge. In variants of these embodiments in which the first folding portion and the second folding portion are configured to be folded in the same direction, the first bevel and the third fold line, as well as the second bevel and the first fold line, are each parallel to one another. In variants of these embodiments, in which the first folding portion and the second folding portion are configured to fold in opposite directions, i.e., toward different edges from the group consisting of the first edge and the second edge, but toward the first side of the main portion to be, the first fold line and the third fold line, as well as the first slanted edge and the second slanted edge, are each parallel to each other. This enables the second pocket to accommodate a second corner of a rectangular card, which is located diagonally opposite the first corner.

The first fold line and the first slanted edge, as well as the third fold line and the second slanted edge, can also include an angle that is larger or smaller than 90°. In this case, cards that are not rectangular, such as diamond-shaped cards, can also be included. The above-mentioned parallelisms with respect to the first slanted edge, the second slanted edge, the first fold line and the third fold line are then not necessarily fulfilled.

According to a further embodiment, the first edge forms an angle α with the first inclined edge and the second edge forms an angle β different from the angle α with the first fold line .

Since the band spans a diagonal of the card(s) to be picked up, the sizes of the angles α and β are determined by the aspect ratio of the at least one card to be picked up by the band. For all In non-square rectangular maps (aspect ratio not equal to 1:1), the angles α and β differ from each other.

In embodiments with two folding sections and the same folding direction of the two folding sections, the second edge and the third fold line also include the angle α , and the first edge and the second inclined edge also include the angle β .

In embodiments with two folding sections and the opposite folding direction of the two folding sections, the second edge and the second inclined edge also include the angle α and the first edge and the third fold line also include the angle β .

According to the invention, the ratio of a total width of the band in an unfolded state to a width of the main section of the band is less than 1.4, preferably less than 1.35, even more preferably less than 1.3 and most preferably less than 1, 25.

In particular, the total width of the band in the unfolded state can correspond to the width of the main section. In other words, the folded sections of the band then do not protrude beyond the main section. This enables parallel cutting of the banderoles and leads to material savings of approximately 50% compared to the prior art, such as GB 2573772 A .

The total width of the band means the maximum extent of the band in the direction perpendicular to a connecting line between the first end and the second end of the band in the unfolded state. Due to the simple folding scheme, the extent of the first folding section and the second folding section, if present, is greatly reduced in the width direction, ie the left and right folding sections protrude in the width direction at most minimally beyond the first edge and the second edge.

Due to this compact cutting scheme of the unfolded band, or blank, the material requirement is greatly reduced because offcuts are smaller or fewer.

According to a further aspect, a system defined in claim 9 consisting of a card and a previously described band is specified, wherein the distance between a first main section corner and an opposite second main section corner of the band corresponds to a diagonal of the card and one of the corners of the card is in the first pocket.

In this way, the band holds the card or at least partially surrounds the card. In embodiments of the band with two folding sections, one corner of the card is in the first insert pocket formed by the first fold section and the opposite corner of the card is in the second insert pocket formed by the second fold section. The band can also hold more than one card, for example an envelope that goes with the card. The card(s) can simply be removed from the band and reinserted. This makes it possible to look at the card, for example to make a purchase decision by the customer, and then place it back in the banderole. The band can also be used as advertising space, for example for the manufacturer's company logos, or to print additional information.

According to a further aspect, a method for folding a band as defined in claim 10 is specified.

The band to be folded can be constructed according to any of the embodiments described herein, in particular also according to the embodiments which have a second folding section. In this case, the second folding section is folded analogously to the first folding section and attached to the main section to form a second insert pocket opposite the first.

The banderole can be folded without one card or several cards to be taken up, i.e. the cards are inserted into the banderole after folding. The banderole can also be folded with the cards to be picked up, i.e. the banderole is folded around the cards.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Regarding FIG. 1 A band 100 is described according to a first embodiment. The band has a main section 110, a first folding section 120 and a second folding section 130.

The main section has a first edge 115, a second edge 116, a first beveled edge 117, a second beveled edge 118, a first main section corner 111 and a second main section corner 112. The main section is delimited on a first side by a first fold line 123 and on a second side by a third fold line 133. In addition, the main section has a first insertion opening 113 and a second insertion opening 114.

The first fold section is connected to the main section 110 along the first fold line 123 and includes a first section 121 and a second section 122. The second section 122 is connected to the first section 121 along a second fold line 124 and has a first fastening lug 125, where the fastening nose 125 as Insertion nose is designed and has a round or circular/cone-shaped shape.

The second fold section 130 is connected to the main section 110 along the third fold line 133 and includes a third section 131 and a fourth section 132. The first folding section 120 is designed to be folded along the first folding line 123 towards a first side (front) of the main section 110, so that the first folding section 120 runs substantially parallel to the main section 110 and the first subsection 121 at the first Side of the main section 110 rests, i.e. touches it at least at certain points. This embodiment differs from the embodiment FIG. 1 in that the fastening lugs 125, 135 are not designed as insertion lugs, but as adhesive lugs and the insertion openings 113, 114 are accordingly not present in this embodiment. The adhesive lugs 125, 135 are round/circular and partially protrude from the second section 122 and the fourth section 132, respectively. The fastening lugs 125, 135 are designed as trapezoidal fastening lugs and can be used as adhesive lugs in the same way as in the embodiments of FIG. 3 and 4 on the main section 110 can be attached, executed. Regarding FIG. 6 a method 200 for folding a band 100 is described according to one aspect of this disclosure. Claims (10)

1. Banderole (100) comprising:

   a main portion (110); and

   a first folding portion (120) at a first end of the main portion (110);

   wherein:

   the first folding portion (120) comprises a first sub-portion (121) and a second sub-portion (122);

   the first sub-portion (121) is connected to the main portion (110);

   the second sub-portion (122) is connected to the first sub-portion (121);

   the first folding portion (120) is configured to be folded towards the main portion (110) such that the first sub-portion (121) abuts against a first side of the main portion (110) and forms a first insertion pocket;

   the second sub-portion (122) is configured to be folded towards a second side of the main portion (110) when the first sub-portion (121) abuts against the first side of the main portion (110), the second side being opposite to the first side; and

   the second sub-portion (122) is configured to be fixed to the main portion (110); characterized in that

   the ratio of a total width of the banderole (100) in an unfolded state to a width of the main portion (110) of the banderole (100) is less than 1.4.
2. Banderole (100) according to claim 1, further comprising;

   a second folding portion (130) at a second end of the main portion (110);

   wherein:

   the second folding portion (130) comprises a third sub-portion (131) and a fourth sub-portion (132);

   the third sub-portion (131) is connected to the main portion (110);

   the fourth sub-portion (132) is connected to the third sub-portion (131);

   the second folding portion (130) is configured to be folded towards the main portion (110) such that the third sub-portion (131) abuts against the first side of the main portion (110) and forms a second insertion pocket;

   the fourth sub-portion (132) is configured to be folded towards the second side of the main portion (110) when the third sub-portion (131) abuts against the first side of the main portion (110); and

   the fourth sub-portion (132) is configured to be fixed to the main portion (110).
3. Banderole (100) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the second sub-portion (122) comprises a first fastening lug (125).
4. Banderole (100) according to claim 3, wherein the first fastening lug (125) is designed as an adhesive lug.
5. Banderole (100) according to claim 3, wherein the first fastening lug (125) is designed as an insertion lug; and
   wherein the main portion further comprises a first insertion opening (113) configured to receive the first fastening lug (125).

Banderole (100) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the main portion (110) further comprises a first edge (115), a second edge (116) opposite the first edge (115), a first slanted edge (117) and a first fold line (123), wherein the first fold line (123) forms a right angle with the first slanted edge (117).
7. Banderole (100) according to claim 6, wherein the first edge (115) forms an angle α with the first slanted edge (117), and the second edge (116) forms an angle β, different from the angle α, with a first fold line (123).
8. Banderole (100) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the ratio of a total width of the banderole (100) in the unfolded state to a width of the main section (110) of the banderole (100) is less than 1.25.
9. System comprising:

   a card; and

   a banderole (100) according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the distance between a first main portion corner (111) and an opposite second main portion corner (112) of the banderole (100) corresponds to a diagonal of the card; wherein a corner of the card is located in the first insertion pocket.
10. Method (200) for folding a banderole (100), the banderole (100) comprising:

    a main portion (110);

    a first folding portion (120) comprising a first sub-portion (121) and a second sub-portion (122); wherein a ratio of a total width of the banderole (100) in an unfolded state to a width of the main portion (110) of the banderole (100) is smaller than 1.4; the method comprising the following steps:

    folding (201) the first folding portion (120) towards the main portion (110) so that the first sub-portion (121) abuts against a first side of the main portion (110) and forms a first insertion pocket;

    folding (202) the second sub-portion (122) over the main portion (110) onto a second side of the main portion (110) such that the second sub-portion (122) abuts against the second side of the main portion (110), the second side being opposite the first side;

    attaching (203) the second sub-portion (122) to the main portion (110).
