Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for adjusting and tightening a strap and to a tie-in harness comprising such a device for adjusting and tightening a strap.
- the regal device is provided with a buckle and is configured to carry out the adjustment of the strap to the chosen length then the tightening of the strap to said length so that the user can work in the best conditions.
- Adjusters and clamps Different configurations of adjusters and clamps have been tested and used. It is possible to cite the devices presented in the documents US 5,432,984 , US 8,381,366 , EN 2996732 And US 9,433,260 . In general, the adjustment and tightening device is formed by two superimposed rings of rectangular shape. These two rings have different dimensions.
- the lower ring is larger than the upper ring.
- the two rings are arranged so as to define a passage slot for the strap between the two rings.
- the two rings are mounted to move relative to each other so as to be able to modulate the width of the passage slot.
- the strap goes around the top ring. Putting the strap buckle under tension results in the closure of the passage slot which locks the strap in the desired position.
- An object of the invention consists of a device for adjusting and tightening a strap which is more effective than the prior art without degrading the ease of adjustment of the strap.
- a device for adjusting and tightening a strap which comprises a first ring and a second ring superimposed to define a slot of passage of the strap, the second ring coming to rest against an upper surface of the first ring, the slot for passing the strap being delimited by an outer edge of the second ring and a inner edge of the first ring.
- the first ring and the second ring are movable relative to each other so that the strap passage slot is of variable thickness and the first and second rings are in a blocking position when being put under tension of the strap or are in an unlocking position after a relative movement between the first and second rings causing an increase in the thickness of the passage slot.
- the invention relates to an adjusting and clamping device according to claim 1.
- the first ring has a body extending along a first direction.
- the lower surface is non-planar and has at least first and second surface portions which are non-parallel and separated by an inflection zone.
- the textured zone is formed on the first surface portion, the second ring bearing on the first ring facing the second surface portion, the first and second non-parallel surface portions being intersecting when they are extended towards each other.
- the body of the first ring defines a V or U shape in a section plane containing the first direction.
- the inner edge is extended by one of the inclined surfaces forming the V or U shape.
- the first lower surface portion defines a recess facing the upper surface, the textured area being disposed between the inner edge and the recess.
- the textured area has protrusions configured to sink into the strap.
- the protruding elements are arranged at a first distance from the inner edge, the first distance being non-zero and less than twice the thickness of the first ring.
- At least a part of the protruding elements is formed by spikes.
- At least a part of the projecting elements is formed in the mass of the first ring.
- At least a part of the protruding elements is formed by a material overmoulded on the first ring.
- At least a part of the protruding elements is formed on a support attached to the first ring and installed removable with respect to the first ring.
- the support at least partially covers the lower surface of the first ring and forms a hook covering the inner edge and part of the upper surface.
- the invention also relates to a tightening and locking system which is more effective than the prior art without degrading the ease of adjustment of the strap.
- the adjustment and tightening system is remarkable in that it comprises a device for adjusting and tightening a strap according to one of the preceding configurations and a strap.
- the height of the protruding elements is less than or equal to twice the thickness of the strap.
- the invention also relates to a tie-in harness of which at least one of the adjustment straps is better maintained in the locked position than the configurations of the prior art while remaining easy to adjust.
- the tie-in harness is remarkable in that it includes an adjustment and tightening system according to the previous configuration.
- the device for adjusting and tightening a strap is mainly intended to be mounted on a tie-in harness in order to be able to adjust the effective length of the strap and to block this strap at the desired effective length.
- FIG. 1 schematically illustrates a tie-in harness 1 which can receive one or more adjustment and tightening devices 2 of a strap.
- the adjustment and tightening device 2 can be mounted to adjust the length of the right shoulder strap, the left shoulder strap, the belt placed around the waist, the right thigh circumference or the left thigh circumference.
- one or more fastening devices 2 can be used for adjusting the belt.
- the adjustment and clamping device 2 comprises a first ring 3 and a second ring 4 superimposed on one another.
- the two rings 3 and 4 each define a through hole 5.
- Each ring 3 and 4 has a body that goes around the through hole 5 and has inner edges 3a/4a as well as outer edges 3b/4b. It is advantageous to form the first ring 3 and the second ring 4 in a metallic material to ensure the mechanical strength of the adjustment and tightening device 2 during a fall.
- the two rings 3 and 4 are offset from each other to define a slot 6 for the passage of a strap 7 which must be able to be adjusted to the desired length and locked at the required length.
- the two rings 3 and 4 can have any shape, it is possible to have rectangular, square, trapezoidal external shapes. It is even possible to have rings having curved areas.
- the passage slot 6 is delimited on the one hand by the inner edge 3a of the first ring 3 as well as by the outer edge 4b of the second ring 4 and more particularly by the inner edge 3a of the lower face of the first ring 3 as well as by the outer edge 4b of the upper face of the second ring 4.
- the two rings 3 and 4 are mounted to move relative to each other so as to be able to modulate the width of the passage slot 6 of the strap 7 i.e. modulate the distance between the inner edge 3a of the first ring 3 and the outer edge 4b of the second ring 4.
- the shape of the through hole 5 can be arbitrary.
- the lower inner edge 3a and the upper outer edge 4b are straight and for the slot 6 to have a rectangular or substantially rectangular section, which facilitates the locking of the strap 7.
- the section of the slot 6 is observed with two opposite surfaces formed by the inner edge 3a and the outer edge 4b.
- the section is also defined by two other opposite inner edges of the through hole 5 of the first ring 3.
- the first ring 3 can move relative to the second ring 4 so that the width of the slot 6 is less than or equal to the thickness of the strap 7 to block the strap 7 between the two rings.
- the strap 7 extends in a longitudinal direction which corresponds to the largest dimension of the strap 7.
- the width and the thickness of the strap 7 are measured in directions perpendicular to them and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
- the width corresponds to a dimension greater than the thickness.
- the width of slot 6 is measured along the same axis as the thickness of strap 7.
- Each 3/4 ring extends along a direction AA and has opposite first and second ends along said direction.
- the first end of the two rings cooperates with the strap 7 to ensure the adjustment and tightening of the strap 7 to the desired length.
- the second end of the two rings is associated with an attachment point, for example the second end of the strap 7 or an anchor point of the tie-in harness 1.
- the two rings 3 and 4 are held together, for example by means a strap loop or any other securing means at the second end.
- the first ring 3 can move relative to the second ring 4 in translation and in rotation to modulate the thickness of the slot 6.
- the second ring 4 has a lower surface which bears on an upper surface of the first ring 3.
- the strap buckle 7 presses the second ring 4 against the upper face of the first ring 3.
- the strap pulls on the first end of the second ring 4 to close the slot 6.
- the strap 7 goes around the second ring 4 passing once through the through hole 5 of the second ring and twice through the through hole 5 of the first ring 3.
- the strap 7 leaves the second ring 4 on the outer edge 4b of the upper face to join the first ring 3 on the inner edge 3a of the lower face.
- the thickness of the slot 6 can decrease.
- the force applied to the second ring 4 corresponds to a tensile stress between the two ends.
- the force applied to the strap has the effect of closing the slot 6 and blocking the strap 7 between the inner edge 3a and the outer edge 4b.
- the value of the force applied to close the slot 6 makes it all the more difficult to open the slot 7 and therefore to misadjust the device.
- the loop formed by the two rings 3 and 4 defines a blocking position when the tensioning of the strap 7. The tensioning of the strap 7 closes the slot 6 until the strap 7 prevents the approximation of the inner edge 3a with the outer edge 4b.
- the lower surface of the first ring 3 opposite the upper surface of the second ring 4 has a textured zone 8.
- the textured zone 8 has a plurality of projecting elements 9 which come into contact with the strap.
- the projecting elements 9 are mounted fixed on the first ring 3 and more particularly on the lower surface of the first ring 3.
- the lower face of the first ring 3 is intended to bear on the user, on a support zone of a harness or at least on two strands of the strap 7 to be adjusted and blocked.
- the textured zone 8 is formed on the lower face of the first ring 3, that is to say that it is separated from the second ring 4 by means of the slot 6. While the configurations of the prior art use a flat surface, it is particularly advantageous to form the textured zone 8 which ensures that greater friction is obtained between the strap 7 and the first ring 3.
- the textured zone 8 is formed in the extension of the slot 6 in the direction AA to come into contact with the strap.
- the textured zone extends over at least 80% of the width of the through hole 5 in order to be able to cooperate with a large part of the width of the strap 7.
- the textured zone 8 extends over the entire width of the ring facing the through hole in direction AA.
- the textured zone 8 can be formed in different ways to increase the friction between the first ring 3 and the strap 7.
- the textured zone 8 can be formed by wave patterns, bars perpendicular to the direction AA, squares, triangles, rectangles, stars and any shapes that encourage the strap 7 to deform and therefore increase friction.
- the thickness of the texturing is at least equal to 0.5 mm and preferably between 0.5 mm and 2 mm.
- the textured zone 8 advantageously comprises a plurality of studs 9 which are configured to sink into the strap 7.
- the studs 9 have a height which is less than or equal to the thickness of the strap 7.
- spikes 9 whose height is greater than the thickness of the strap 6 and advantageously less than twice the thickness of the strap 6.
- the spikes 9 can have any orientation.
- the projecting elements 9 are arranged at a first distance from the inner edge 3a. The first distance is non-zero and less than twice the thickness of the first ring 3.
- the strap 7 has no through holes which pass through the entire thickness of the strap 7.
- the textured zone 8 is defined in the mass of the first ring 3.
- the spikes 9 are formed projecting from the lower surface of the first ring 3 in the same material as the body of the first ring 3.
- THE pins 9 can be metal pins projecting from the metal body of the first ring 3.
- the figure 6 shows an enlarged view of the picture 2 illustrating the insertion of a barb 9 into the thickness of one strand of strap 7 without reaching the second strand of strap 7.
- the textured zone 8 is formed by overmoulding a plastic material on the body of the first ring 3.
- the textured zone 8 is mounted irremovably from the body of the first ring 3.
- the molded part completely covers the body of the first ring 3.
- the molded part partially covers the body of the first ring 3, for example the portion of the body which is in the extension of the strap 7 from the first edge 3a which defines the slot 6 in the direction AA.
- the textured zone 8 is formed by a removable part 10 mounted on the body of the first ring 3.
- An embodiment according to the invention is illustrated in figure 4 .
- the removable part 10 is advantageously a plastic part. It is then possible to install the plastic part which has the textured zone 8 on a first ring which was initially devoid of it.
- the removable part forms a support which at least partially covers the lower surface of the first ring 3 and forms a hook covering the inner edge and part of the upper surface. This configuration makes it possible to hold the support in position by means of the stress applied by the strap on the support 10.
- a textured zone 8 which is offset from the inner edge 3a.
- the textured zone 8 is formed by spikes 9, it is advantageous to have a flat inner edge 3a and to form rows of spikes 9 arranged at a distance from the inner edge 3a.
- the patterns of the textured zone which are closest to the edge 3a are at least 1 mm from the edge.
- the textured zone 8 has several rows of patterns, for example picots and that preferentially the first row of pins 9 has a lower height than the second row of pins 9.
- the first row of pins 9 separates the inner edge 3a and the second row of pins 9.
- the second row of pins 9 is offset with respect to the first row of barbs 9 in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the strap 7 which corresponds to the direction which connects the inner edge 3a, the first row of barbs 9 and the second row of barbs 9.
- the body of the first ring 3 extends along a first direction A which passes, in order, through the first end, the textured zone 8, the first edge 3a, the through hole 5 and the second end of the body.
- the second end of the body is fixed to the harness 1 and/or the strap 7. The curvature of the first curved end forces the strap to deform, which ensures contact between the strap and the textured zone.
- the strap 7 forms a closed loop which passes through the two through holes 5 in order to allow translational movement of the first ring 3 relative to the second ring 4 as well as a rotational movement of the second ring 4 relative to the first ring 3.
- the closed loop surrounds the second end of the two rings 3 and 4.
- the stress applied to the strap 7 locks the strap 7 against the textured zone 8 and can close the slot 6.
- the buckle is in the locking position.
- the second ring 4 It is particularly advantageous for the second ring 4 to have a smooth upper surface as well as smooth and rounded inner and outer edges of the upper surface to facilitate sliding of the strap on the second ring 4.
- the upper and/or lower interior edge may have a radius of curvature which is at least equal to 1/6 of the thickness of the first ring 3. Such a configuration makes it difficult to block the strap 7 by means of the slot 6 in the absence of a textured zone 8.
- the first ring 3 When the first ring 3 is curved, it has at least one zone of inflection which separates at least a first portion and a second portion of the body.
- the first portion of the ring preferably formed by the body, is intended to receive the textured area 8.
- the first portion has a first lower surface which receives the textured area 8.
- the second portion is fixed to the harness 1 or the other end of the strap 7.
- the second ring 4 presses on the second portion.
- the first ring 3 it is advantageous for the first ring 3 to define a V or U shape and more precisely a V or an inverted U with the zone of inflection which forms the apex of the V or the inverted U.
- the base of the first ring 3 bears against a support zone of the harness 1 or against the user so that the strap 7 separates the first ring 3 and the support zone or the user.
- the first portion defines a recess 12.
- the recess 12 is defined in the lower surface to facilitate the insertion of a finger which makes it possible to rotate the two rings 3/4, for example to rotate the two rings 3 / 4 around an axis of rotation formed by an outer edge 3b of the first ring 3 at the second end.
- the force applied to the strap increases until the contact between the strap 7 and the textured zone is reduced or disappears. Once the rotation threshold value has been reached, the strap can slip relative to the rings.
- first ring 3 is of smaller size than the second ring 4 and preferably for the length of the second portion in direction A to be less than the length of the second ring 4 so that the second ring 4 is only supported on the second portion.
- the strap 7 has no predefined through holes and the pins 9 are mounted immobile on the first ring 3.
- the configuration is different from what is used in a belt buckle where the effective length of the belt is predefined by the holes.
- the configuration according to the invention allows continuous adjustment of the effective length of the strap 7.
