Definitions
- the invention relates to a bolt catch device for handguns that can be adapted for use on both sides, especially for firearms of the rifle type M4 / M16 / AR15, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention also relates to a housing for receiving the bolt catch, as well as means for reducing the penetration of foreign bodies into the case.
- the invention and its variants are not limited to rifles, carbines, etc., but can in principle also be used for pistols. Some embodiments and their effects / advantages are shown below.
- slide catch devices - referred to in the following simply as slide catches - are very widespread.
- a closure is understood, in simplified form, to be a slide or slide which receives at least one closure head.
- the main purpose of the slide catch is to catch the slide in a defined position and hold it open after the last cartridge has been fired.
- the slide catch is controlled via a feeler projection or feeler finger through a defined edge, protrusion or the like on the feeder of the magazine when it protrudes at the top, at least partially, from the magazine after the last cartridge has been fired.
- breech is often used in a simplified manner, the breech in the selected representations and the description primarily describing the arrangement and characteristics of a slide with the breech head accommodated therein, as can be used in a way that is compatible with the M4 / M16 / AR15 rifle type.
- the loading and locking process of such rifles are well known to those skilled in the art, which is why the process is only briefly discussed here.
- the slider is moved forward in a known manner when the breechblock is closed by the recoil spring, the rotatable breechblock head being locked by means of locking lugs in the locking sleeve or directly in the barrel, while the reverse process takes place automatically under tension of the closing spring after the shot is fired, or manually Loading is carried out by pressing the clamping slide.
- the slide After the last shot has been fired, the slide is automatically caught by the interaction of the feeder and the spring-loaded slide catch.
- the actuating element of the slide catch which is usually arranged on the left side of the housing, can be manually operated by the shooter, as a result of which the slide is released again and the locking process can be completed.
- the US 9810493 B2 discloses a slide catch lever which is suitable for two-sided operation and the two actuating levers are integrally formed, so that the entire slide catch lever is in one piece.
- the right and left side actuation can be carried out around a common tilt axis.
- the use of such a slide catch lever requires a slight modification of the housing.
- a number of multi-part slide catch arrangements are thus known to the person skilled in the art, all of which require a more or less difficult adaptation of the lower housing of an AR-type rifle in order to enable operation from both sides. In particular, it is often difficult to convert existing rifles to a double-sided slide catch.
- the person skilled in the art is also familiar with at least one one-piece, bilaterally operable slide catch, which also requires a slight modification of the lower housing in order to equip an existing weapon for two-sided operation of the slide catch.
- a double-sided slide catch must be provided, such as for weapon exercises, training, etc., and must then be adapted again to the needs of the shooter. in the In a specific case, this can also mean that the shooter would like to forego operating the slide catch on the right side after using a slide catch on both sides for exercise purposes.
- a conversion is extremely time-consuming and in some cases, due to the arrangement of the slide catch levers, not even possible without an appropriate tool. This means that it may not be possible to adapt the slide stop lever in the field of application.
- an opening remains at least on one side of the housing when a conventional, one-sided slide catch is used.
- openings are usually undesirable because they allow the penetration of foreign bodies, such as sand, dust and water.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to provide a slide catch device that is easy to manufacture and operate, which enables two-sided operation and, if necessary, can easily be dismantled onto a one-sided slide catch.
- Another object of the invention is that the slide catch device can be implemented in existing AR-15 housings with as little effort as possible. Furthermore, the task in one embodiment is to make the penetration of undesired foreign bodies into the housing more difficult.
- the first slide catch lever has a central part for optionally receiving a second slide catch lever.
- This receptacle is designed to run laterally in the central part, in the transverse direction inwards, that is to say essentially in the direction of the pivot axis.
- the receptacle is designed as an undercut.
- a first slide catch lever designed in this way offers the advantage of temporarily attaching a second, optional slide catch lever, which can easily be inserted into the receptacle of the first slide catch lever. Due to the undercut, the second slide catch lever can be partially received by the first slide catch lever and received in such a way that the connecting section to be inserted does not protrude beyond the original dimensions of the central part of the first slide catch lever when viewed in the direction of travel.
- This makes it possible to simply insert the first slide catch lever according to the invention into an existing housing of an AR-15 type rifle. If the second slide catch lever is to be installed, all that is required is an opening of the slide catch receptacle of an existing housing on the "right-hand" housing wall - viewed from the shooter.
- Such a continuous slide catch holder in the transverse direction is relatively easy to machine, e.g. by milling or broaching, or in extreme cases even by means of a file. In the ideal case, a housing designed according to the invention is provided, as described later.
- slide catch device offers corresponding possibilities of attaching the second, optional slide catch lever in an optimally positioned position for the shooter and / or the possibility of mounting it with as little loss as possible.
- Some further aspects of the invention deal with possible adaptations of the upper and / or lower housing, as well as the use of an optional plug to minimize the slide catch device against the undesired penetration of foreign bodies, in particular sand, dirt and dust, into the housing.
- These aspects relate, among other things, to a housing for receiving the slide catch, a handle, housing or shaft with a recess for temporarily storing the second slide catch lever and / or a stopper that is not required.
- this aspect should be understood as a means of reducing the penetration of foreign bodies.
- a slide catch device which is suitable for arrangement in a firearm, preferably an AR-15 type rifle, is designated by “15”, and is simply referred to as a slide catch in the following.
- a two-part housing 1 is shown in the schematic exploded view, with a magazine (not shown) being able to be accommodated in a magazine slot 13 provided for this purpose in the lower housing 11.
- a magazine holder receptacle 141 is shown in the lower housing 11, in which a magazine holder 14 can be installed in a known manner.
- the slide catch receptacle 151 for the slide catch 15 can be seen, as well as on the side of the lower housing 11 well-designed extensions for receiving a pivot pin 17. This is inserted into the extensions to fix the slide catch 15 in the direction 51 along the pivot axis 21, which can be deflected within limits.
- the first slide catch lever 2 has a receptacle with an undercut in order, if necessary, to receive a second slide catch lever 3 by being pushed along an insertion axis 37.
- Fig. 1 A useful measure according to the invention for protection against unintentional actuation and / or getting caught on the first slide catch lever 2, or its upper and / or lower lever arm 22 or 27, can also be seen in the form of a slide catch border 152.
- This border 152 is designed to protrude with respect to the upper housing 12 and, in the installed state, thus forms a type of lateral delimitation of the upper lever arm 22.
- this locking catch border 152 is designed to protrude at the same height from the upper housing 12 as the upper lever arm 22 in the idle state (cf. Fig. 3a ) protrudes opposite the upper housing 12. In other words, these two elements 152 and 22 are essentially at the same level with respect to the upper housing 12.
- the border 152 essentially has an "H-shape", which means that the border 152 can not only be designed to protect the upper lever arm 22 in the vertical direction 53 downwards, but can also be designed upwards, creating a shadowed area. This area can be used, for example, to attach a number such as a registration code, a weapon number or a logo and is largely protected against mechanical abrasion by the border.
- FIG Fig. 2 The functional principle of the slide catch 15 is shown schematically in FIG Fig. 2 , a section through the weapon center plane, shown, a section with a slider 4 is shown.
- the slide 4 is blocked in a known manner on the bolt head 41 by the bolt catch 15 or its locking projection 28 when it leads.
- a gas key 42 can also be seen on the slide 4, which is only shown for the sake of orientation.
- the closure catch 15 there are a wide variety of possibilities for the formation of the closure catch 15 according to the invention, some of which are mentioned here by way of example and, in particular, a synopsis of the Figs. 4 to 7 referenced.
- the first and second slide catch levers 2, 3 are coordinated with one another in such a way that a form-fitting connection is possible.
- the middle part 23 of the first slide catch lever 2 has a receptacle 24 which is preferably designed to be at least partially open towards the rear. This receptacle 24 is designed in the form of a groove and has an undercut.
- the shape of the undercut is adapted to the shape of the corresponding connecting section 32 and can, for example, be designed as a dovetail profile, L-shaped or also T-shaped.
- the second slide catch lever 3 provided for insertion into the middle part 23 has a correspondingly complementary connection section 32 in order to form a form-fitting connection, at least in the area of the receptacle 24, after insertion into the first slide catch lever 2.
- This connection is preferably designed to be detachable, that is to say can be coupled, as a result of which a simple dismantling of the slide catch 15 that can be operated on both sides is made possible.
- Figs. 4th , 5 and 6 can easily be seen looking together, it is possible to form at least one web 34 protruding laterally on the connecting section 32, which web engages in the undercut of the receptacle 24.
- the formation of the connecting section 32 takes place mutatis mutandis of the previously described formation of the receptacle 24. In this way, a rotation of the second slide catch lever 3 about the vertical direction 53 or also about the insertion axis 37 and a possible jamming of the slide catch 15 in the slide catch holder 151 can be prevented .
- FIGs 5 and 6 are a first and a second, respectively, slide catch lever 2, 3 in oblique views from the front ( Figures 5a, 6a, b ) or rear ( Figure 5b ) shown.
- the common pivot axis 21 is usually designed as a through hole and can be a pivot pin 17, or a dowel pin or the like take up.
- a blocking extension 28 is formed towards the front, i.e. in the installation situation in the running direction 51, which blocks the movement of the slide 4 forwards when the first slide catch lever 2 is tilted upwards (cf. Fig. 2 ).
- a sensing finger 29 is formed on the locking projection 28, which interacts in a known manner with the feeder of the magazine.
- FIGs 5a and b Another preferred embodiment is in Figures 5a and b can be seen, according to which the receptacle 24 has a catch 25, which is used to abut a locking extension 35 of the second slide catch lever 3.
- the connecting section 32 has a somewhat offset end section 33.
- This end section 33 can have a smaller material thickness in at least one spatial direction than in the transition area of the connecting section 32 to the lever arm 31 and also does not have to have a web 34, which enables elastic deformation and / or deflection of the end section 33 relative to the insertion axis 37.
- the end section 33 can have a latching extension 35 which can snap or engage in a latch 25.
- the transition to the end section 33 is fluidly designed in the form of a taper 36, which promotes the mechanical stability of the catch 15.
- first slide catch levers 2 are shown schematically, all of which have a receptacle 24. It can be seen that the three variants have different directions or insertion angles 38 of the insertion axis 37 relative to the lower edge of the middle part 23. In principle, it is possible for the insertion axis 37 to run parallel to the lower edge of the central part 23, which corresponds to an insertion angle 38 of 0 °. It is also possible to provide a very steep insertion angle 38 of up to 60 °, as a result of which the arrangement of the coupling point between notch 25 and notch extension 35 can, under certain circumstances, be better accessible from above.
- the insertion axis 37 of the second slide catch lever 3 at an insertion angle 38 of 5 to 45 °, preferably from 10 to 30 °, relative to the lower edge of the first slide catch lever 2 or its central part 23 is formed.
- the second lever arm 31 is angled in at least one spatial direction relative to the insertion axis 37 of the first slide catch lever 2 (see FIG Figure 4b ) and cranked (see Figure 4a ) shown.
- the angled section of the second lever arm 31 points to the rear in the installation situation, while the section of the second lever arm 31 cranked downward in the vertical direction 53 with respect to the insertion axis is subsequently formed on the connecting section 32, as can be seen very well in the synopsis of the Fig. 6 and Fig. 4 can be seen.
- cranking and / or angling of the second slide catch lever 3 or its second lever arm 31 relative to the insertion axis 37 is provided in order to prevent the second slide catch lever 3 from hitting the upper housing 12 in the active position.
- This connection will look very good Figure 3b in sync with Fig. 8 It is clear where the upper edge of the lower housing 11 coincides with the lower edge of the upper housing 12 in the installation situation and the slide catch 15 can pivot upwards unhindered until the left, lower lever arm 27 strikes the housing 1.
- the receptacle 24 is also continuously open towards the rear on the central part 23 in the direction of the pivot axis 21.
- the position of the notch is derived from the corresponding oblique view 25 clearly.
- This exemplary embodiment is easy to manufacture and the latching extension 35 is easily accessible from the outside for decoupling.
- FIG. 7b and c instead of a recess for forming the catch 25 have a catch opening 26, as is also the case in the example in FIG Figure 5a , b can be seen very well.
- a latching opening 26 at the end of the receptacle 24 closest to the pivot axis 21 is designed to penetrate the middle part 23 in the running direction 51. This offers the advantage that the middle part 23 has a mechanically stable support area despite the inserted receptacle 24 and at the same time the latching element 35 can be released through the latching opening 26 by actuation from the front.
- a further object of the invention is to prevent foreign bodies from entering the housing as much as possible. If a lower housing 11 of an existing rifle is now adapted for the use of a slide catch 15 according to the invention, then only an opening in the transverse direction 52 to the right has to be created for the slide catch receptacle 151. It is easy to imagine that when only the first slide catch lever 2 is used, this opening remains and thus the penetration of foreign bodies is promoted.
- FIG. 8 As shown, it is possible to use an upper housing 12 which has a cover extension 16 on its inside in the area of the slide catch receptacle 151. This cover extension 16 is designed to protrude so far into the interior of the upper housing 12 that it does not hinder the movement of the slide 4 or the first slide catch lever 2. Contact with the cartridges of a filled magazine should also be avoided.
- a stopper 153 is provided which serves to temporarily close the opening on the right-hand side of the closure catch receptacle 151. As the Fig. 9 shows well, it is thus possible to close the slide catch receptacle 151 on the right side if only the first slide catch lever 2 is used.
- the closure catch receptacle 151 is shaped on the right-hand side in the end region to receive the stopper 153 and to prevent it from falling out unintentionally.
- Fig. 9 shown, for example by means of retaining grooves 154, in which the plug 153 can be "inserted” or "inserted”.
- the plug 153 is designed such that it can be inserted from above into the lower housing 11 or into the corresponding holding grooves 154. After the weapon has been assembled with the stopper 153, improved sealing of the housing 1 is thus possible, although a slide catch 15 that can be operated from one side is used.
- Such a stopper 153 can be made of metal or, preferably, of an elastically deformable polymer, which is particularly beneficial for sealing.
- the named components can be "temporarily stored" in a recess provided for this purpose in the housing 1 or in a shaft or handle (not shown).
- the recess of the housing can have the same shape as the lateral opening area of the closure catch receptacle 151 with retaining grooves 154 in order to accommodate the stopper 153, for example. It is also possible to provide that the recess has a shape similar to the receptacle 24 of the first slide catch lever 2 in order to receive the second slide catch lever 3 temporarily. In this way, a conversion from both sides to unilateral bolt catch 15, or vice versa, can be made relatively quickly since the necessary components always remain on the man or the rifle. In addition, such a holder is used to prevent rattling due to loose parts.
- the invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments discussed and illustrated, but can be modified and configured in various ways.
- the adaptation to the weapon envisaged in each case is possible within wide limits with knowledge of the invention; combinations of individual design features can also be provided, as an example only the possibility of the "continuous" design of the receptacle 24 according to the Figure 7a with a locking opening corresponding to the Figure 7c to combine.

Description
The invention relates to a bolt catch device for handguns that can be adapted for use on both sides, especially for firearms of the rifle type M4 / M16 / AR15, according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a housing for receiving the bolt catch, as well as means for reducing the penetration of foreign bodies into the case. The invention and its variants are not limited to rifles, carbines, etc., but can in principle also be used for pistols. Some embodiments and their effects / advantages are shown below.
In multi-shot weapons, above all self-loading weapons, slide catch devices - referred to in the following simply as slide catches - are very widespread. In the context of this invention, a closure is understood, in simplified form, to be a slide or slide which receives at least one closure head. The main purpose of the slide catch is to catch the slide in a defined position and hold it open after the last cartridge has been fired. Usually, the slide catch is controlled via a feeler projection or feeler finger through a defined edge, protrusion or the like on the feeder of the magazine when it protrudes at the top, at least partially, from the magazine after the last cartridge has been fired.
However, it may also be necessary that the shooter would like to manually hinder the advancement of the breech. This can be the case, for example, in the course of dismantling or if the automatic firing process has to be interrupted manually.
In the context of this application, the term breech is often used in a simplified manner, the breech in the selected representations and the description primarily describing the arrangement and characteristics of a slide with the breech head accommodated therein, as can be used in a way that is compatible with the M4 / M16 / AR15 rifle type. The loading and locking process of such rifles are well known to those skilled in the art, which is why the process is only briefly discussed here.
The slider is moved forward in a known manner when the breechblock is closed by the recoil spring, the rotatable breechblock head being locked by means of locking lugs in the locking sleeve or directly in the barrel, while the reverse process takes place automatically under tension of the closing spring after the shot is fired, or manually Loading is carried out by pressing the clamping slide.
After the last shot has been fired, the slide is automatically caught by the interaction of the feeder and the spring-loaded slide catch. Following a magazine change, the actuating element of the slide catch, which is usually arranged on the left side of the housing, can be manually operated by the shooter, as a result of which the slide is released again and the locking process can be completed.

A number of multi-part slide catch arrangements are thus known to the person skilled in the art, all of which require a more or less difficult adaptation of the lower housing of an AR-type rifle in order to enable operation from both sides. In particular, it is often difficult to convert existing rifles to a double-sided slide catch. The person skilled in the art is also familiar with at least one one-piece, bilaterally operable slide catch, which also requires a slight modification of the lower housing in order to equip an existing weapon for two-sided operation of the slide catch.
In certain cases, however, it may be necessary that a double-sided slide catch must be provided, such as for weapon exercises, training, etc., and must then be adapted again to the needs of the shooter. in the In a specific case, this can also mean that the shooter would like to forego operating the slide catch on the right side after using a slide catch on both sides for exercise purposes. With the known slide catch devices, a conversion is extremely time-consuming and in some cases, due to the arrangement of the slide catch levers, not even possible without an appropriate tool. This means that it may not be possible to adapt the slide stop lever in the field of application. In addition, in the case of the casings of rifles which are specially designed for bolt catches that can be operated from both sides, an opening remains at least on one side of the housing when a conventional, one-sided slide catch is used. However, such openings are usually undesirable because they allow the penetration of foreign bodies, such as sand, dust and water.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a slide catch device that is easy to manufacture and operate, which enables two-sided operation and, if necessary, can easily be dismantled onto a one-sided slide catch. Another object of the invention is that the slide catch device can be implemented in existing AR-15 housings with as little effort as possible. Furthermore, the task in one embodiment is to make the penetration of undesired foreign bodies into the housing more difficult.
This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Further aspects relate to an adapted housing according to claim 10, a stopper which can be used according to the invention according to
Describing the essence of the invention in other words, the first slide catch lever has a central part for optionally receiving a second slide catch lever. This receptacle is designed to run laterally in the central part, in the transverse direction inwards, that is to say essentially in the direction of the pivot axis. The receptacle is designed as an undercut.
A first slide catch lever designed in this way offers the advantage of temporarily attaching a second, optional slide catch lever, which can easily be inserted into the receptacle of the first slide catch lever. Due to the undercut, the second slide catch lever can be partially received by the first slide catch lever and received in such a way that the connecting section to be inserted does not protrude beyond the original dimensions of the central part of the first slide catch lever when viewed in the direction of travel. This makes it possible to simply insert the first slide catch lever according to the invention into an existing housing of an AR-15 type rifle. If the second slide catch lever is to be installed, all that is required is an opening of the slide catch receptacle of an existing housing on the "right-hand" housing wall - viewed from the shooter. Such a continuous slide catch holder in the transverse direction is relatively easy to machine, e.g. by milling or broaching, or in extreme cases even by means of a file. In the ideal case, a housing designed according to the invention is provided, as described later.
Further possible embodiments of the slide catch device according to the invention offer corresponding possibilities of attaching the second, optional slide catch lever in an optimally positioned position for the shooter and / or the possibility of mounting it with as little loss as possible.
Some further aspects of the invention deal with possible adaptations of the upper and / or lower housing, as well as the use of an optional plug to minimize the slide catch device against the undesired penetration of foreign bodies, in particular sand, dirt and dust, into the housing. These aspects relate, among other things, to a housing for receiving the slide catch, a handle, housing or shaft with a recess for temporarily storing the second slide catch lever and / or a stopper that is not required. In summary, this aspect should be understood as a means of reducing the penetration of foreign bodies.
Es wird demnach der Verschluss bzw. das Gleitstück unter der Wirkung der Gase nach der Abgabe eines Schusses "nach hinten" bewegt und gelangt unter der Wirkung einer Schließfeder wieder "nach vorne", etc..Throughout the description and the claims, "in front of" or "forwards" as the direction towards the muzzle of the barrel, "(towards) rear" as the direction towards the shaft, "(down)" is used as the direction for the slide towards the magazine, and "(up)" as the direction away from the magazine. The terms "weapon center plane", "barrel core", "barrel axis", "core axis", etc. have the usual meaning which the person skilled in the art attaches to them in the prior art. "Left" is thus related to the weapon center plane, "from the left" corresponds to a movement, actuation, exertion of force in the direction of the weapon center plane, starting from a starting position "to the left" of it, etc. Accordingly, the lock or the slide is located under the The effect of the gases moves "backwards" after a shot has been fired and moves "forwards" again under the action of a closing spring, etc ..

In the context of the invention, a slide catch device which is suitable for arrangement in a firearm, preferably an AR-15 type rifle, is designated by “15”, and is simply referred to as a slide catch in the following.
In the figures of the drawings, an attempt was made to designate everything relating to the housing 1 with "1n", as well as with "2n" for the first slide catch lever according to the invention, with "3n" for the second slide catch lever, "4n" for the slide, " 5n "for the coordinate system fixed to the housing for orientation.

As explained at the outset, a further object of the invention is to prevent foreign bodies from entering the housing as much as possible. Due to the relatively small dimensions of the second
It is clear to the person skilled in the art that the illustrated embodiments were selected as schematic and / or exemplary representations and it is easily possible for the person skilled in the art to transfer the relationships according to the invention to embodiments that are not explicitly shown, which is why these implicitly disclosed embodiments both in the description of the figures as can also be read in silence in the claims.
In the description and the claims, the terms "front", "rear", "top", "bottom" and so on are used in their usual form and with reference to the object in its usual position of use. This means that in a weapon the muzzle of the barrel is "in front", that the bolt or slide is moved "backwards" by the explosion gases, etc ..
It should also be pointed out that in the description and the claims, statements such as "lower area" of an object, the lower half and in particular the lower quarter of the total height, "lowest area" means the lowest quarter and in particular an even smaller part; while "middle area" means the middle third of the total height (width - length). All of this information has its own Common meaning, applied to the intended position of the viewed object and apply equally to "rear area", etc.
In the description and the claims, "essentially" means a deviation of up to 10% of the specified value, if it is physically possible, both downwards and upwards, otherwise only in the meaningful direction, for degrees (angle and temperature) this means ± 10 °.
Der Begriff: "Kombination" bzw. "Kombinationen" steht, soferne nichts anderes angegeben, für alle Arten von Kombinationen, ausgehend von zwei der betreffenden Bestandteile bis zu einer Vielzahl oder aller derartiger Bestandteile, der Begriff: "enthaltend" steht auch für "bestehend aus".Unless otherwise stated, the term: “combination” or “combinations” stands for all types of combinations, starting from two of the constituents in question up to a large number or all of such constituents, the term: “containing” also stands for “consisting out".
