Bei der Verwendung wird der Öffner 8 auf das erste Fingerglied 7 bis hinter den Nagel 6 geschoben (Figur 4), passt sich mittels der Öffnung 2 an der Ringoberseite dem Fingerdurchmesser an, und der Steg 3 schließt an der Fingerkuppe ab (Figur 3). Mittels der Führungsschiene kann nun der meist federunterstützte Schnappverschluss 11 zum Loch 1 am Ende des Stegs 3 geleitet und in dieses eingeführt werden (Figur 5). In dieser Position kann durch Ziehen 9 oder Schieben 10 der Verschluss 11 geöffnet oder geschlossen werden, während weiterhin etwas Druck auf den Karabiner 12 ausgeübt wird.
