Definitions
- the invention relates to an assembly with a connection terminal and an associated opening tool with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- connection terminals are mostly without a housing and are designed as SMD components (surface mount device). They are placed on printed circuit boards and are used to connect connecting conductors, in particular single-wire or multi-wire cables. Multi-wire cables are cables in which a conductor is formed from several individual wires.
- Generic connection terminals are generally highly miniaturized and are often arranged in rows next to one another, with connection terminals without a housing having to have a minimum insulation distance from one another. However, this is generally smaller than the distance between two housing walls arranged next to one another and connecting terminals that are connected to the housing.
- US 2017/0005421 A1 shows a terminal block with an integrated opening tool.
- a sheet metal strip formed from the connection terminal material is bent back here and forms two arms. These pierce the cage ceiling and grab a clamping spring.
- guide wings are arranged in front of the arms in the insertion direction, which center the conductor.
- the aforementioned publication also discloses a tool for opening the clamping point.
- This opening tool has a tunnel-like free cut, which serves to accommodate the connection terminal in the opening tool.
- One of the sections of the release tool parallel to the side wall of the connection terminals cooperates with the operating handle of the connection terminal.
- the clamping point is opened by placing the opening tool on the connection terminal and pressing down on the spring element.
- connection terminal in particular one without a housing
- opening mechanism of which at the terminal point has an advantageous effect on the arrangement distances to be maintained.
- the object of the invention is achieved by an assembly consisting of a connection terminal and an opening tool with the features of claim 1, in particular with its characterizing features, according to which the opening tool has two tool attachments arranged at a distance from one another, which are cylindrical in shape, of the same design and whose cross-sectional contour corresponds to the openings of the Cage top are adapted, the distance between the tool attachments to each other allows a recording of the cage bar remaining between the cage top openings, the tool attachments have a circular-cylindrical section, which, seated in the casing recess of the connecting terminal, narrows a conductor receiving space and guides a conductor to be inserted into the conductor receiving space.
- the main advantage of this opening tool is that the cylinder-shaped tool attachments can be kept slim and narrow and therefore no space is required that would affect the distance between the connection terminal and the adjacent component.
- the tool attachment Since the tool attachment has a circular-cylindrical section and, being seated in the casing recess of the connecting terminal, narrows a conductor receiving space, it acts and guides a conductor to be inserted into the conductor receiving space.
- the particular advantage here is that the conductor is centered in the terminal point, thus ensuring that on the one hand the spring element does not tilt due to an off-centre conductor and on the other hand it ensures that with multi-wire conductors no individual cores emerge from the sheath opening provided by the tool attachment.
- an opening tool with two tool attachments spaced apart from one another makes it possible to act on the spring element on both sides. Compared to only a one-sided effect this has the advantage that tilting of the spring element is avoided. Such tilting can result in the spring element tilting in the connection terminal and not pivoting back into its contact position on the counter bearing, which holds the conductor in a clamping manner.
- the web of material located between the cage top openings helps to position the opening tool correctly.
- An opening tool is particularly preferred in which the opening tool has a movement limit stop that limits the immersion depth of the tool attachment into the casing recess in order to prevent damaging movement of the spring element of the connection terminal.
- the movement limit stop reliably prevents excessive stress on the spring element and thus damage to it.
- the two tool attachments accommodate the movement limit stop between them.
- the cage shell forms a holding contour for the spring element and that the holding contour of the shell merges into the shell recess.
- This embodiment has considerable advantages in terms of manufacturing technology, because the holding contour with the casing recess can be manufactured in one manufacturing step using a corresponding punching tool. In particular, it makes sense to hold the contour, the opening in the Carry out cage ceiling and the opening in the side wall as a uniform shell recess.
- the purpose of the invention is also served by an opening tool with the features of independent claim 6, in particular with its characterizing features, according to which the opening tool has at least one tool attachment which is shaped like a cylinder.
- connection terminal 10 is given the reference number 10 in its entirety.
- Terminal 10 is in figure 1 shown in perspective. It comprises a contact cage 11 which is formed by a cage top 12, a cage bottom 13 and two side walls 14 connecting the cage bottom 13 and the cage top 12.
- the contact cage 11 On a first, front end face, the contact cage 11 has a conductor insertion opening 16 into which connection conductors, for example single-wire or multi-wire cables, are inserted in the conductor insertion direction x for electrical contacting.
- the cage floor 13 forms a guide tongue 17 which, starting from the conductor insertion opening 16, extends in the direction of the opposite, second end face and whose free end 18 (see FIG figure 3 ) in the direction of the cage ceiling 12. In this way, the guide tongue 17 forms a first inclined guide surface 19 .
- the second end face of the contact cage 11 opposite the conductor insertion opening 16 is secured by a stabilizing wall 20 (see FIG figure 3 ) locked.
- the contact cage 11 has two casing recesses 21 which are mirror-symmetrical to a vertical longitudinal center plane not shown here.
- the respective shell recess 21 can be subdivided into an opening 22 in the cage ceiling 12, an opening 23 in the side wall 14 and a holding contour 24 worked partly into the side wall 14 and partly into the cage floor 13.
- the Holding contour 24 serves to fix a spring element 25 in the contact cage 11.
- the cage jacket is drawn in. This results in a cross-sectional reduction directed in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the contact cage compared to the normal contour of the connection terminal 10, which is primarily formed here by side wall sections 26 that are offset in the direction of the vertical longitudinal center plane. Due to the inwardly offset side wall sections 26, the side walls 14 form second inclined guide surfaces 27 in the area of the conductor insertion opening 16, so that a funnel-like conductor insertion area is formed, which precedes the drawn-in jacket area A in the conductor insertion direction x.
- figure 2 shows the terminal 10 according to figure 1 in side view.
- figure 3 shows a sectional view of the terminal 10 according to
- FIG 2 along a vertical longitudinal plane.
- the spring element 25 is shown partly in dashed lines.
- This is a torsion spring that forms a first leg 28 parallel to the cage floor and a second leg 29 . Both legs 28, 29 are connected to one another by a U-shaped section.
- the second leg 29 is divided into a bearing section 30 parallel to the bottom of the cage and a clamping section 31, which extends and is prestressed in the direction of the cage ceiling 12.
- This clamping section 31 interacts with the cage ceiling 12, which serves as a counter bearing, and forms a clamping point 32.
- the stripped end of a Connection cable held for the purpose of electrical contact and mechanical definition.
- the inner surface of the cage ceiling 12 has a profile, here in the form of notches 33. These increase the friction between the connection cable and the cage cover 12 and thus form an additional protection against being pulled out.
- figure 4 shows the schematic representation of an opening tool 50 with a tool head 51, the two tool approaches 52 arise.
- the tool attachments are arranged at a distance from one another, are designed essentially cylindrically and are designed in the same way. Their cross-sectional contour is adapted to the openings 22 in the cage ceiling 12, into which they are able to dip.
- the distance between the tool attachments 52 to one another is selected such that they can accommodate the cage top web 34 remaining between the cage top openings 22 (see, for example, figure 1 ).
- the cylindrical tool attachments 52 are positioned above the openings 22 in the cage cover 12 and then inserted into the openings 22.
- the opening tool 50 is moved in the direction of the cage floor 13 , the tool attachments 52 penetrating into the openings 23 in the side walls 14 after passing through the openings 22 in the cage cover 13 .
- the spring element 25 namely the second leg 29 facing the cage top, in particular its clamping section 31.
- a further displacement of the opening tool 50 in the direction of the cage floor 13 causes a movement of the clamping section 31 in the direction of the cage floor 13.
- the free end of the clamping section 31 separates from the inner surface of the cage roof 12 and thus opens the clamping point 32.
- This opening movement is terminated by the tool head 51 running onto the outer surface of the cage roof 12.
- the Terminal 10 facing the end face of the tool head 51 or its arranged between the tool lugs 52 range from a movement end stop.
- the tool attachments 52 that protrude partially around the circumference of the conductor receiving space 15 have a guiding effect on a conductor that is to be inserted. This slides, if it has an offset to the vertical longitudinal center plane, on the outer surfaces of the tool attachments 52 and is shifted towards the center. This is particularly advantageous for multi-wire connection cables.
- the electrically conductive wire consists of several individual strands. If these are not tinned and have mushroomed or fanned out slightly due to mechanical damage, the outer surfaces of the tool attachments 52 guide such individual wires in the direction of the center or vertical longitudinal center plane of the contact cage 11 and thus away from the lateral openings 23 . An escape of such individual wires a connecting cable from the contact cage 11 is reliably avoided in this way.
- the diameter of the tool attachments 52 is dimensioned such that they largely close the openings 23 in the side walls 14, this also prevents the conductor to be inserted into the connection terminal 10 from escaping during manual or machine assembly.
- figure 7 shows two connecting terminals 10 arranged next to each other in pairs in a perspective view
- figure 8 shows a view of the conductor insertion openings 16 of two connecting terminals 10 arranged next to each other in pairs.
- figure 8 is also supplemented by the representation of an opening tool 50.
- two terminals 10 are shown as an example in a conventional arrangement next to each other.
- the distance between the two connection terminals 10 is limited to a minimum due to the isolation distance. Since the cylindrical normal contour of the connection terminals 10 of the invention determines the width of the contact cage 11 and - unlike in the prior art - no lateral actuating handle protrudes from the normal cross-sectional contour, the cage width alone determines the minimum distance between two connection terminals 10 from one another.
- figure 8 shows that an increase in the minimum distance is also not necessary with regard to the opening tool 50 to be used. Since the tool attachments 52 penetrate the interior of the contact cage 11 with a partial circumferential section, the insulating distance is sufficient to use the opening tool 50 according to the invention to open the clamping point 32 in an advantageous manner.
- connection terminal 10 according to the invention therefore makes it possible to minimize the installation space required from an insulation point of view on a circuit board, which is particularly advantageous when a plurality of connection terminals 10 are arranged next to one another. Nevertheless, using the opening tool 50 according to the invention, the connection terminal 10 according to the invention still makes it possible to open the terminal point 32 for inserting or removing connection conductors.
