Description
- The present invention relates to an electrical household appliance comprising a circuit board.
- Particularly in electrical household appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and ovens, circuit boards which are placed into the appliance body and which control at least the operation of the device by means of to the electrical circuits provided thereon are used. Said circuit boards are mounted to the mounting regions in the body of the electrical household appliances which are not susceptible to impacts from outside in order to prevent the sensitive electronic circuits thereon from getting damaged. In the state of the art, the circuit board is mounted onto a mounting surface in a suitable region in the body of the electrical household appliance preferably by means of fixing means.
-
Figure 1 shows the circuit board (5) mounting region of an electrical household appliance (1) having a circuit board (5) mounted by means of a state of the art fixing apparatus (FA) whileFigure 2 shows the fixing apparatus (FA) which is used for the mounting of the circuit board (5) in the state of the art. An assembly structure (AS) is realized on the mounting surface (S1) which is defined in the body of the electrical household appliance and at least one mounting hole (H1) is provided on said assembly structure (AS). The fixing apparatus (FA) comprises a body (B), at least one first hole (H2) provided at one end of the body (B) and at least one second hole (H2) provided at the end of the body opposite to said end. During the mounting of the circuit board (5) to the electrical household appliance (1), first, the fixing apparatus (FA) is placed onto the mounting surface (S1) such that the first hole (H2) is aligned with the first mounting hole (H1) on the assembly structure (AS) and the fixing apparatus (FA) is fixed onto the assembly structure (AS) and thus onto the mounting surface (S1) by means of a connection means (CM) such as a screw which is passed through the first hole (H2) and the first mounting hole (H1). Then, the circuit board (5) is positioned on the fixing apparatus (FA) such that at least one mounting hole (H4) arranged thereon is aligned with the second hole (H3) on the end of the fixing apparatus (FA) which is not connected to the assembly structure (AS), and the circuit board (5) is enabled to be mounted onto the fixing apparatus (FA) by means of a connection member (CM) such as a screw which is passed through the first hole (H3) and the second mounting hole (H4). Thus, the circuit board is enabled to be fixedly mounted onto a mounting surface defined in a secure region in the body of the electrical household appliance. However, due to the need for aligning the holes through which the connection members are passed and the use of many connection members during the mounting process, the mounting time increases and thus, the production rate of the electrical household appliance decreases. Furthermore, overtightening the connecting members such as screws during the mounting process creates stress on the circuit board, causing the circuit board to be damaged over time. - In the state of the art International Patent Document No.

US2015345721A1 discloses a display panel retaining device for a domestic appliance. - The aim of the present invention is the realization of an electrical household appliance comprising a circuit board which can be mounted easily and securely.
- The electrical household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises at least one circuit board with electrical circuits thereon; and at least one fixing means having a body which is configured to be positioned on a mounting surface defined in a suitable region in the body of the electrical household appliance and whereon at least one resting surface is defined enabling the circuit board to be placed, at least one connection element which is provided on the body, which is configured to enable the body to be fixedly positioned on the mounting surface by being retained by at least one holder provided on the mounting surface, and at least one fixing member which is provided on the body and which is configured to enable the circuit board to be seated onto the resting surface and fixedly retained on the resting surface by allowing a through hole on the circuit board to be fitted thereover. During the mounting of the circuit board into the body of the electrical household appliance, first the body of the fixing means is positioned on the mounting surface so as to contact the mounting surface such that the connection element is retained by the holder. By fixedly retaining the connection element by means of the holder, the body is prevented from moving on the mounting surface. Then, the through hole provided on the circuit board is fitted over the fixing member such that the circuit board is seated onto the resting surface, the circuit board seated onto the resting surface is fixedly retained between the resting surface and the fixing member. Thus, by eliminating the need for using connection members such as screws during the mounting of the circuit board into the appliance body, the mounting time is decreased, and the circuit board is prevented from being damaged due to the stress which may be formed as a result of the force applied onto the circuit board by the connection member. The circuit board is preferably mounted into the appliance body by being fixed from each edge thereof by using a plurality of fixing means.
- The holder comprises two feet which are positioned so as to oppositely extend from the mounting surface along a plane which is almost perpendicular to the plane where the mounting surface extends, and a wall which extends between the ends of the feet which do not contact the mounting surface such that a gap with a certain width remains between the mounting surface and the wall. The width of the gap between the mounting surface and the wall allows at least a portion of the connection element to be passed through said gap. By means of the holder having such a simple structure, the holder is enabled to be realized on the mounting surface in an easy and cost-effective manner.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection element comprises a tab which is fixed to the body from one end, which extends from said end such that there is a distance between the mounting surface and the tab almost in the plane where the mounting surface extends and at least one portion of which has a thickness allowing the same to be passed through the opening, and at least one protrusion which is provided almost at the end of the tab not connected to the body and which extends in the plane perpendicular to plane where the mounting surface extends. As the tab is connected to the body from one end and extends from said end which is connected to the body so as not to contact the mounting surface, when force is applied onto the tab, the tab is enabled to move for a certain amount in the direction of the applied force and return to the original position when the force applied thereon is removed. In this embodiment, during the mounting of the circuit board into the appliance body, after the body is placed so as to contact the mounting surface, a certain amount of force is applied onto the tab and the tab is enabled to move in the direction of the applied force until the protrusion is brought to a position so as to pass through the opening. Then, the body is pushed towards the holder until the protrusion passes through the opening. After the protrusion passes through the opening, the force applied on the tab is removed and the tab returns to the original position before the application of the force. When the tab returns to said position, the protrusion positioned on the end of the tab contacts the wall. Thus, the protrusion is brought to a position so as not to pass through the opening if a force is applied onto the connection element in the direction opposite to the direction where the body is pushed. Consequently, the connection element is enabled to be retained by the holder without the need for using a connection member such as a screw.
- The fixing member comprises a protrusion which is fixed onto the body from one end and which extends in the plane almost perpendicular to the plane where the mounting surface extends, and at least one head which is provided at the end of the protrusion not connected to the body, which has a flexible structure and a total width larger than the width of the through hole and which, by means of the flexible structure thereof, becomes narrower while the through hole is fitted thereover and returns to the original state after the through hole is fitted After the body is fixedly positioned on the mounting surface as the connection element is retained by the holder, the through hole on the circuit board is aligned with the protrusion and the through hole is fitted over the protrusion and the circuit board is seated onto the resting surface. While the through hole is fitted over the protrusion, as the width of the hole is narrower than the width of the head, the walls of the circuit board which surround the hole exert force onto the head and causes the head to become narrower thanks to the flexible structure of the head. After the hole is completely fitted over the head, the circuit board is seated on the resting surface and the head returns to the original state, wherein the total width of the same is greater than that of the hole as soon as the force exerted thereon is removed. In this case, the circuit board is enabled to be fixedly retained on the resting surface so as to be positioned between the resting surface and the head. Thus, by eliminating the need for using any connection member such as screws during the mounting of the circuit board into the appliance body, the circuit board is prevented from being damaged due to the stress formed by said connection member.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the head comprises two wings which extend from the end of the protrusion not fixed to the body towards the body in the plane where the protrusion extends so as to be angled with respect to the protrusion. In this embodiment, the fixing member is in the form of an arrow which is formed by the protrusion and the wings. In this embodiment, as the wings extend in an angled manner with respect to the protrusion when the head is not in interaction with the hole, a gap with a certain width is formed between the wings and the protrusion. While the through hole is fitted over the head, the force applied on the wings by the walls of the circuit board which surround the through hole moves the wings towards the protrusion for a certain amount. Thus, the through hole is enabled to be easily fitted over the head which has a reduced total width. After the through hole is completely fitted over the head, the circuit board is seated on the resting surface and as the force exerted on the wings is removed, the wings move away form the protrusion for a certain amount. In this embodiment, by means of the above-described simple structure of the head, the head is produced in an easy and cost-effective manner.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing means further comprises at least one arm which is fixed to the body at one end and which extends from said end so as to contact the mounting surface in the same plane and the same direction with the tab so as not to contact the tab. In an embodiment of the present invention, said arm preferably has a thickness which allows passage through the opening. In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing means comprises two arms which are positioned symmetrically with respect to the tab. As said arm contacts the mounting surface, the former enables the body and hence the fixing means to be kept more stable on the mounting surface.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing means is produced from plastic. By producing the fixing means from plastic, the same is enabled to be processed and shaped easily during the production process and thus, the production speed is increased and cost effectiveness is provided.
- By means of the present invention, by mounting the circuit board comprising the circuit elements at least controlling the operation of the electrical household appliance onto a suitable mounting surface defined in the appliance body by using the fixing means, the need for using any connection member such as screws is eliminated and thus, the time spent for the mounting process is decreased and the circuit board is prevented from being damaged due to the stress formed as a result of the force applied onto the circuit board by the connection member.

- The electrical household appliance (1) comprises an appliance body (2) which defines at least one mounting surface (S1) therein; at least one holder (3) which is provided on the mounting surface (S1); at least one circuit board (5) which is disposed into the body(2) and which has at least one through hole (4) thereon; and at least one fixing means (6) which is configured to fix the circuit board (5) in the body (2). The circuit board (5) which controls at least the operation of the electrical household appliance (1) by means of the electrical circuits provided thereon is mounted onto the mounting surface (S1) defined in a suitable region in the appliance body (2) of the electrical household appliance (1) by means of the fixing means (6) during the production of the electrical household appliance (1). The mounting surface (S1) is defined in a region of the appliance body (2) wherein the damages on the circuit board (5) due to possible impacts on the appliance body (2) are eliminated or minimized. The mounting surface (S1) extends preferably parallel to the floor surface onto which the electrical household appliance (1) is placed during the operation. The circuit board (5) has a quadrilateral planar form such as a square or a rectangle.
- The fixing means (6) provided in the electrical household appliance (1) of the present invention comprises a body (7) which is configured to be positioned on the mounting surface (S1) and which has a resting surface (S2) defined thereon onto which at least the circuit board (5) is placed; at least one connection element (8) which is provided on the body (7) and which is configured to be retained by the holder (3) in order to enable the body (7) to be almost fixedly positioned on the mounting surface (S1); and at least one fixing member (9) which is provided on the body (7) and which is configured to allow the circuit board (5) to be seated on the resting surface (S1) by allowing the through hole (4) on the circuit board (5) to be fitted thereover and configured to fixedly hold the circuit board (5) on the resting surface (S1). In the electrical household appliance (1) of the present invention, during the mounting of the circuit board (5) into the appliance body (2), first the fixing means (6) is placed onto the mounting surface (S1) such that the connection element (8) is retained by the holder. After the fixing means (6) is placed onto the mounting surface (S1), the through hole (4) on the circuit board (5) is fitted over the fixing member (9) such that the circuit board (5) is seated onto the resting surface (S2) and fixedly retained in this position by means of the fixing member (9). Thus, the circuit board (5) is enabled to be mounted into the appliance body (2) without the need for using connection members such as screws and the time spent for the mounting process is decreased and the circuit board (5) is prevented from being damaged due to the stress which may be formed as a result of the force applied onto the circuit board (5) by the connection member. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the circuit board (5) is mounted into the appliance body (2) by being fixed from each edge thereof by using a plurality of fixing means (6).
- The holder (3) comprises two feet (10) which are fixed onto the mounting surface (S1) at one end and which extend from said ends in a plane perpendicular to the plane where the mounting surface (S1) extends, and a wall (11) which extends between the ends of said feet (10) not attached to the mounting surface (S1) such that an opening (O) remains between the mounting surface (S1) and the wall (11). In an embodiment of the present invention, said feet (10) extend so as to be angled with respect to the mounting surface (S1) and move close to each other. In an embodiment of the present invention, the wall (11) planarly extends between the ends of the feet (10) not attached to the mounting surface (S1) and in alternative embodiments, extends in a curved manner. In this embodiment, by means of the above-described simple structure of the holder (3), the holder (3) is produced on the mounting surface (S1) in an easy and cost-effective manner.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection element (8) comprises a tab (12) which is fixed to the body (7) from one end, which extends from said end such that there is a distance between the mounting surface (S1) and the tab (12) almost in the plane where the mounting surface (S1) extends and at least one portion of which has a thickness allowing the same to be passed through the opening (O), and at least one protrusion (13) which is provided almost at the end of the tab (12) not connected to the body (7) and which extends in the plane perpendicular to plane where the mounting surface (S1) extends. As the tab (12) is connected to the body (7) from one end and extends from said end which is connected to the body (7) so as not to contact the mounting surface (S1), when force is applied onto the tab (12), the tab (12) is enabled to move for a certain amount in the direction of the applied force and return to the original position when the force applied thereon is removed. Consecutively, the protrusion (13) provided on the end of the tab (12) is enabled to have at least two positions with respect to the opening (O), namely, a position wherein the same cannot pass through the opening (O) and a position wherein the same can pass through the opening (O). In this embodiment, during the mounting of the circuit board (5) into the appliance body (2), while the fixing means (6) is placed onto the mounting surface (S1), a certain amount of force is applied onto the tab (12) and the tab (12) is enabled to move in the direction of the applied force until the protrusion (13) is brought to a position so as to pass through the opening (O). Then, the body (7) is moved towards the holder (3) until the protrusion (13) passes through the opening (O). After the protrusion (13) passes through the opening (O), the force applied on the tab (12) is removed and the tab (12) moves so as to return to almost the original position before the application of the force. When the tab (12) returns to the original position, the protrusion (13) positioned almost at the end of the tab (12) contacts the wall (11) and moves to a position so as not to pass through the opening (O) if a force is applied in the direction opposite the direction in which the body (7) has been moved previously. Thus, the connection element (8) is enabled to be retained by the holder (3) without the need for using a connection member such as a screw.
- The fixing member (8) comprises a protrusion (13) which is fixed onto the body (7) from one end and which extends in the plane almost perpendicular to the plane where the mounting surface (S1) extends, and at least one head (14) which is provided at the end of the protrusion (13) not connected to the body (7), which has a flexible structure and a total width larger than the width of the through hole (4) and which, by means of the flexible structure thereof, becomes narrower while passing through the through hole (4) and returns to the original state after passing through the through hole (4). After the fixing means (6) is connected to the mounting surface (S1) by means of the holder (3), the through hole (4) on the circuit board (5) is aligned with the fixing member (9) and the through hole (4) is fitted over the fixing member (9). While the through hole (4) is fitted over the fixing member (9), as the width of the through hole (4) is narrower than the width of the head (14), the walls of the circuit board (5) which surround the through hole (4) exert force onto the head (14) and causes the head (14) to become narrower thanks to the flexible structure of the head (14). After the through hole (4) is completely fitted over the head (14), the circuit board (5) is seated on the resting surface (S2) and the head (14) returns to the original state, wherein the total width of the same is greater than that of the through hole (4) as soon as the force exerted thereon is removed. Thus, the circuit board (5) is enabled to be fixedly retained between the resting surface (S2) and the head (14). Consequently, by eliminating the need for using any connection member such as screws during the mounting of the circuit board (5) into the appliance body (2), the circuit board (5) is prevented from being damaged due to the stress formed by said connection member.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the head (14) comprises two wings (15) which extend from the end of the protrusion (13) not fixed to the body (7) towards the body (7) in the plane where the protrusion (13) extends so as to be angled with respect to the protrusion (13). In this embodiment, as the wings (15) extend in an angled manner with respect to the protrusion (13) when the head (14) is not in interaction with the through hole (4), a gap with a certain width is formed between the wings (15) and the protrusion (13). While the through hole (4) is fitted over the head (14), the force applied on the wings (15) by the walls of the circuit board (5) which surround the through hole (4) moves the wings (15) towards the protrusion (13) for a certain amount such that the width of said gap decreases. Thus, the through hole is enabled to be easily fitted over the head which has a reduced total width. After the through hole (4) is completely fitted over the head (14), the circuit board (5) is seated on the resting surface (S2) and as the force exerted on the wings (15) is removed, the latter moves away form the protrusion (13) for a certain amount such that the width of the gap increases. In this embodiment, by means of the above-described simple structure of the head (14), the head (14) is produced in an easy and cost-effective manner.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing means (6) further comprises at least one arm (16) which is fixed to the body (7) at one end and which extends from said end so as to contact the mounting surface (S1) in the same plane and the same direction with the tab (12) so as not to contact the tab (12). In an embodiment of the present invention, said arm (16) preferably has a thickness which allows passage through the opening. As said arm (16) contacts the mounting surface (S1), the former enables the body (7) and hence the fixing means (6) to be kept more stable on the mounting surface (S1).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing means (6) is produced from plastic. Thus, by enabling the fixing means (6) to be easily processed and formed during the production process, the production rate increases and cost advantage is provided.
- By means of the present invention, by mounting the circuit board (5) comprising the circuit elements at least controlling the operation of the electrical household appliance (1) onto a suitable mounting surface (S1) defined in the appliance body (2) by using the fixing means (6), the need for using any connection member such as screws is eliminated and thus, the time spent for the mounting process is decreased and the circuit board (5) is prevented from being damaged due to the stress formed as a result of the force applied onto the circuit board (5) by the connection member.
