Claims (5)

  1. An internal combustion engine,
    having a cylinder crankcase in which a crankshaft is mounted,
    having at least one cylinder bank comprising multiple cylinders,
    wherein each cylinder comprises a spark plug for igniting a fuel to be combusted in the respective cylinder,
    wherein each cylinder comprises a cylinder head with at least one gas exchange valve on the inlet side and with at least one gas exchange valve on the exhaust side,
    wherein each cylinder comprises a rocker arm box (10) for receiving rocker arms of a valve drive for the gas exchange valves,
    wherein each cylinder comprises a rocker arm cover (11) which is pivotable relative to the respective rocker arm box (10),
    wherein the rocker arm cover (11) includes a first portion (11a) with a first introduction aid (17) and a second portion (11b) with a second introduction aid (18), and
    wherein the respective rocker arm cover (11) carries an ignition coil (13) for the spark plug of the respective cylinder, which is contactable with the spark plug via a spark plug extension (14) extending through a conduit (15) between the cylinder head and the rocker arm box (10) or the rocker arm cover (11) of the respective cylinder,
    characterised in that
    the conduit (15) threads into the first introduction aid (17) during the pivoting closing of the rocker arm cover (11), in that an end (14a) of the spark plug extension (14) protruding from the conduit (15) threads into the second introduction aid (18) during the pivoting closing of the rocker arm cover (11), in order to form in an automatic and self-centring manner an electrical contact between the spark plug extension (14) und the ignition coil (13) of the respective cylinder, and
    in that the second portion (11b) with the second introduction aid (18) is arranged within a region delimited from the first portion (11a) with the first introduction aid (17).
  2. The internal combustion engine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the end (14a) of the spark plug extension (14) protruding from the conduit (15) is guided in a plug (16), which upon the closing of the rocker arm cover (11) threads into the first introduction aid (17).
  3. The internal combustion engine according to Claim 2, characterised in that an end (14a) of the spark plug extension (14) protruding from the plug (16) threads into the second introduction aid (18) during the closing of the rocker arm cover (11).
  4. The internal combustion engine according to anyone of the Claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the second portion (11b) forms an electrical plug contact for the end (14a) of the spark plug extension (14) protruding from the conduit (15).
  5. The internal combustion engine according to Claim 4, characterised in that the electrical plug contact includes an electrically conductive spring (19) .
