Definitions
- the invention relates to a device comprising a hollow body that is open at the top and a removable cover, in particular a weatherproof grave light.
- Grave lights usually consist of a cup (can be made of different materials) that is filled with fuel (usually mineral or organic waxes) and has a wick attached.
- a cover (often made of metal or plastic) is usually placed on top to protect against the weather and for visual reasons. Grave lights are usually burned outdoors and are fully exposed to the elements.
- covers are known for hollow bodies that are open on one side and in which a candle is arranged, the cover being a hollow body that is open at the bottom and can be plugged or screwed onto the hollow body that is open at the top, with the jacket of the cover in the mounted state the jacket of the open-topped hollow body protrudes upwards, wherein the jacket of the lid is provided with openings.
- the openings are designed as vertically running openings, which are formed by openings in the jacket of the cover, for example by punching out circular areas.
- precipitation can easily penetrate through such openings, which then has to be discharged between the cover and the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top.
- the EP 2955436 A1 shows a grave light cup, which is designed as a hollow body that is open at the top on one side and has an upper end area that tapers upwards, so that water penetrating through the cover is drained off between the cover and the tapered end area.
- the candlelight is well protected against going out due to gusts of wind and precipitation.
- the supply of oxygen to the flame is restricted by the upwardly tapering upper end region of the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top, so that the flame is extinguished prematurely due to a lack of oxygen.
- the lack of oxygen supply can also lead to incomplete combustion, which results in increased CO emissions and soot formation.

- the inner wall 7 preferably extends over at least a quarter up to a maximum of three quarters of the height of the openings 4.
- the inner wall 7 can also extend over the entire height of the openings 4.
- the jacket 3 of the cover 2 is preferably present as the jacket surface of a body of revolution, ie as the jacket surface of a body whose surface is formed by rotating a generating curve about an axis of rotation.
- the openings 4 represent interruptions of this lateral surface that are limited in the circumferential direction. In an axial longitudinal section through the cover 2, the openings 4 are therefore present as interruptions in the generating curve of the rotating body.
- FIG. 2 illustrates a cover 2 and an upwardly open hollow body 1, the features of which can also be realized independently of one another.
- the openings 4 are formed in that the casing 3 of the cover 2 is divided into several in each case in the circumferential direction limited areas is formed inwards, so that there are interruptions in the generating curve of the rotating body in the axial longitudinal section through the cover 2 and in these indentations there is at least one hole 17 which connects the inside and the outside of the cover 2.
- An inner wall 7 extends inwards and upwards from the lower edge of the respective opening 4 , the upper inner edge of the inner wall 7 forming the lower edge of the hole 17 .
- Precipitation which arrives obliquely from above through the opening 4, collides with the inner wall 7 and runs along it out of the opening 4, so that penetration of precipitation into the interior of the hollow body 1, which is open at the top, is prevented.
- the outer wall of the cover 2 is present as the outer surface of the rotating body.
- the inner walls 7 extend, as in 2 illustrated, preferably over the entire vertical extent of their respective opening 4. This means that the inner wall 7 is connected to the side edge of the respective opening 4.
- the open-topped hollow body 1 has as in the example 1 several support webs 11 and attachment webs 12, so that there are inlets 14 between the lower edge of the lid 6 and the widening 10 and channels 13 between the inner lateral surface of the lid 2 and the outer lateral surface of the hollow body 1.
- the channels 13 open out between the upper edge 16 of the hollow body 1 and the lower edge of the indentations in the interior of the device.
- the openings 4 in the cover can also be arranged in two or more rows that are vertically offset from one another.
- 3 1 shows that the inner walls 7 extend at least over a partial area of the vertical extension of their respective opening 4. This means that the inner walls 7 are connected to the side edge of the respective opening 4 at least over a partial area.
- attachment webs 12 can be present on the inner lateral surface of the lid 2, so that channels 13 result between the inner lateral surface of the lid 2 and the outer lateral surface of the hollow body 1, which is open at the top. According to 4 these attachment webs 12 can be present on the inner body 19 of the cover 2, which forms an inner wall 7 for all the openings 4.
- the cover 2 can form the support webs 11, which protrude downwards from the lower edge of the cover 6 and rest on the widening 10 of the hollow body 1, which is open at the top.
- the support webs 11 at the 4 instead be arranged on the widening 10 of the hollow body 1.
- the inner body 19 is provided with recesses, which extend upwards from its lower edge to above the upper edge 16 of the hollow body 1, which is open at the top, with the remaining material webs between the recesses forming the attachment webs 12 and support webs 11, in that the inner body 19 protrudes downwards from the outer body 18 with the remaining webs of material.
- the figure 5 and 6 serve to illustrate that the cover 2 can also rest with the inner lateral surface of the inner wall 7 or more inner walls 7 on top of the hollow body 1 which is open at the top.
- the lid 2 can rest with several inner surfaces of the inner walls 7 of different openings 4 at the upper edge 16 .
- the hollow body 1 can also be designed without a widening 10 .
- attachment webs 12 are formed by indentations in the jacket 3 of the cover 2. These indentations form elevations on the inner surface of the cover 2, which at the outer lateral surface of the hollow body 1 abut.
- the channels 13 are located between the elevations on the inner lateral surface of the cover 2 .
- Air which flows upwards through the channels 13 can flow into the interior of the device between the contact points or contact areas of respectively adjacent inner walls 7 . Air enters the interior of the device from the channels 13 above the upper edge 16 of the hollow body 1 and below the inner edges 8 of the inner walls 7 .
- the hollow body 1 can have support webs 11 on its upper edge 16, which protrude upwards from the upper edge, so that the cover 2 rests with the inner lateral surface of a peripheral inner wall 7 on these support webs 11.
- the support webs 11 are in 6 realized in that the attachment webs 12, which protrude radially from the outer surface of the hollow body 1, the upper edge 16 of the hollow body 1 protrude upwards. Unlike in 6 is shown, the support webs 11 could also be present in a straight extension of the upper edge 16 of the hollow body 1 . In this case, attachment webs 12 can also be present on the hollow body 1 or on the cover 2.
- the lid 2 is composed of an outer body 18 and an inner body 19.
- the outer body 18 has the casing 3 which is pierced by openings 4 and has a cover roof 5 .
- the inner body 19 has a circumferential, upwardly and inwardly inclined inner wall 7, which is followed by a vertical jacket piece 9 at the bottom.
- a circumferential, upwardly and inwardly inclined inner wall 7 which is followed by a vertical jacket piece 9 at the bottom.
- horizontal inward widening of the inner edge 8 is optional but may be advantageous in terms of directing the airflow towards the center of the device.
- the widening at the lower edge of the lid 2 can preferably be on the inner body 19 .
- the lower edge of the inner body 19 can be rolled up outwards or folded outwards, or generally be present with a greater material or jacket thickness.
- the advantage of this is that the wider lower edge of the inner body 19 forms a bearing surface for the outer body 18, so that the height of the inner wall 7 relative to the openings 4 is predetermined when the inner body 19 is fully inserted into the outer body 18.
- the lower edges 20 of the openings 4 and the lower, outer edge 21 of the inner wall 7 are preferably at a level such that no water can collect between the bodies 18, 19.
- the lower edges 20 of the openings 4 can also lie below the outer lower edge 21 of the inner wall 7, which is less preferred.
- the lower edges 20 of the openings 4 can also (preferably only slightly) lie above the outer lower edge 21 of the inner wall 7 .
- the lower edge 20 of the respective opening 4 preferably runs at least over a partial area parallel and/or flush with the outer lower edge 21 of the inner wall 7.
- the cover 2 is particularly preferred 7 together with an upwardly open hollow body 1 according to 1 used.
- a first imaginary line which runs from the upper edge of the respective opening 4 of the lid 2 to the upper edge or the inner edge 8 of the inner wall 7 of the lid 2 located in its peripheral area, with a second imaginary line through the upper edge of the Opening 4 of the lid 2 running vertical line includes an angle 22 of at least 10 °, preferably from at least 15°, in particular at least 30°. In a variant, the angle can be at least 45°.
- the upper edge of the inner wall 7 can form a common inner edge 8 for all openings 4 of the cover 2 .
- the inner body 19 can be designed like the jacket 3 of the cover 2 in the examples of FIG Figures 2, 3 and 5 was described.
- the inner body 19, as in 9 shown rest with its present between the indentations jacket areas on the inner surface of the jacket 3 of the outer body 18.

According to the state of the art, covers are known for hollow bodies that are open on one side and in which a candle is arranged, the cover being a hollow body that is open at the bottom and can be plugged or screwed onto the hollow body that is open at the top, with the jacket of the cover in the mounted state the jacket of the open-topped hollow body protrudes upwards, wherein the jacket of the lid is provided with openings. The openings are designed as vertically running openings, which are formed by openings in the jacket of the cover, for example by punching out circular areas. However, precipitation can easily penetrate through such openings, which then has to be discharged between the cover and the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top. So that penetrating precipitation does not get into the interior of the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top, it is known to design the hollow body with an upper edge area that is offset inward and upwards compared to the openings, so that water penetrating from the side hits this edge area and does not get into the interior of the hollow body .

If the edge of the hollow body, which is open on one side, is sufficiently high, the candlelight is well protected against going out due to gusts of wind and precipitation. However, it has been shown that the supply of oxygen to the flame is restricted by the upwardly tapering upper end region of the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top, so that the flame is extinguished prematurely due to a lack of oxygen. The lack of oxygen supply can also lead to incomplete combustion, which results in increased CO emissions and soot formation.
The object on which the invention is based is to provide an improved hollow body with a lid which is open at the top on one side, which is weatherproof and has good combustion properties and is cheaper to manufacture.
Lid opens into the interior of the device and wherein the second end of the channels leads to the outside of the device and wherein the first end of the channels is higher than the second end of the channels.
This means that fresh air, which supplies the flame with oxygen, can flow in through the channels between the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top, and the cover. The combustion gases escape mainly through the openings in the lid. The advantage of the present invention is that this chimney effect is achieved with even simpler means and that the device is protected against the ingress of liquid by the inner wall of the cover.
There is preferably an inner wall which runs around the entire inner lateral surface of the lid.
The shell of the lid and a cover surface which closes the shell on one side are preferably formed from a first body of the lid. Preferably the inner wall is part of a second body of the lid, the second body being nested within the first body. The first and the second body are preferably firmly connected to one another. This is preferably done by means of a press fit, by gluing, or by flanging the lower edge of both bodies together, or flanging the lower edge of the second body around the lower edge of the first body.
Preferably, the second body has an area adjoining the lower outer edge of the inner wall downwards, which abuts the inside of the jacket of the first body, the inner wall extending upwards and inwards starting from this area.
In another embodiment variant, several inner walls are formed from the material of the jacket in the area of its respective opening, with the jacket surface in the area of the respective opening being molded inward from the plane of the rest of the jacket, so that the molded-in area of the jacket extends from the lower end of the respective opening inwards rising inner wall forms.
The molded-in area of the casing is preferably connected to the edge of the opening over at least a partial area of the height of the opening.
Between the cover and the hollow body, which is open at the top, there are preferably a plurality of webs distributed over their circumference, with the channels being present in the region between the webs.
The webs are preferably formed by moldings of the hollow body, which is open at the top.
The hollow body, which is open at the top, preferably has a widening, with support webs on the upper surface of the widening, on which the cover rests, with inlets being present in the area between the support webs between the upper surface of the widening and the lower edge of the cover, which connected to the channels.
Preferably, an imaginary line from the upper edge of the respective opening of the lid to the upper edge of the inner wall of the lid located in its peripheral area encloses an angle of at least 15° with an imaginary vertical line running through the upper edge of the opening of the lid, particularly preferably of at least 25°, in particular at least 30°. In a variant, the angle can be at least 45°.
Advantageously, this means that it is more difficult for precipitation falling at an angle to penetrate and gusts of wind are directed away from the flame, with this effect increasing as the angle to the vertical increases.
The hollow body, which is open at the top, is preferably made of plastic or glass, with the material preferably being transparent or translucent.

Der Deckel ist bevorzugt aus Metall gebildet. The cover is preferably made of metal.
The inner body of the lid is preferably formed of metal.
The outer body of the lid is preferably formed of metal.
The lid preferably rests with the lower edge of the lid on individual support webs of the hollow body, which is open at the top, attachment webs of the hollow body adjoining these support webs at the top, on which the lid rests with its inner lateral surface. Advantageously, this results in a gap between the inner lateral surface of the cover and the outer lateral surface of the hollow body in the area between the attachment webs, through which air can flow. The openings in the jacket of the cover are preferably above the upper edge of the hollow body, which is open at the top.
The cover preferably has an inner body which has a peripheral inner wall which is inclined upwards and inwards and which is adjoined by a vertical jacket piece at the bottom, with the inner body having a widening at the lower end. Preferably, the lower edge of the inner body is outwardly curled or folded out and encloses the lower edge of an outer body of the lid.
