Definitions

  • the invention relates to a filter medium according to the preamble of claim 1, a filter element, a use of the filter element, a method for producing the filter medium and a water injection system.
  • a filter medium which has at least two filtration layers, one of which is equipped with an antimicrobial agent, for example.
  • an antimicrobial agent for example.
  • the second filter layer may, in particular, be a filter layer arranged downstream.
  • DE 10 2013 021 071 A1 discloses a filter medium for the filtration of air in a cabin filter of a motor vehicle.
  • This filter medium has a multilayer structure which has at least one anti-allergenic filter layer, a particle filter layer, one or more activated carbon adsorption layers, and an antibacterial filter layer containing zinc pyrithione as the active ingredient.
  • the above-described filter medium of the prior art is initially due to its structure, which is tailored to the relatively small fan performance and differential pressures in automotive ventilation systems, not for use in fluid systems in which the filter medium usually exposed to a much higher differential pressure is.
  • a cabin air filter medium is not mechanically so strong that it could also be used in fluid systems.
  • the antimicrobial properties of the interior filter medium for liquid systems are not sufficient because the growth of bacteria in the water at several days standstill and summer temperatures of more than 60 ° C in the engine compartment is much higher than in the area of an air duct of the ventilation system.
  • the named form of anti-discrimination microbial effect may be sufficient for air filters for indoor use, but is not suitable for liquid systems.
  • the invention solves this problem by a filter medium having the features of claim 1.
  • the filter medium according to the invention can be used for the filtration of water, for example.
  • a filter element as it is used in a water injection system for internal combustion engines.
  • Such systems typically include a water tank, a pump, one or more filters, a control system, fluid lines, and injectors or nozzles.
  • a control system typically include a water tank, a pump, one or more filters, a control system, fluid lines, and injectors or nozzles.
  • a corresponding filter medium comprises at least a first layer as a support layer and a second layer as a downstream arranged to the first layer filtration layer.
  • the second layer can have a higher dust absorption capacity, in particular an at least two times higher dust absorption capacity, than the first layer.
  • tight-meshed screen meshes or meshes which may consist in particular of plastics, can be used as a support layer. These screen meshes or meshes can be equipped equally with the antimicrobial agent. As a result, a growth of microorganisms, especially bacteria, ie biofilm formation through all filter layers, can be effectively avoided.
  • both the first layer and the second layer have at least one at least antibacterial active ingredient.
  • Antibacterial bacteriostatic properties as well as bactericidal properties are referred to here.
  • the active ingredient can not only be effective against bacteria, but have a bacteriostatic and / or bactericidal as well as fungistatic and / or fungicidal action.
  • bactericidal is meant a bactericidal effect.
  • the bacteria must be killed to a certain extent, preferably at least 99% within the first 4 hours, after their application.
  • bacteriostatic substances have only a growth-inhibiting effect.
  • the active substance may be an active substance from the group comprising pyrithione and / or a metal salt thereof, wherein the metal salt is in particular an alkali metal salt, in particular a sodium salt, an alkaline earth metal salt or a transition metal salt, preferably from the group consisting of zinc, manganese, copper and Iron, is or a Pyrithion derivative and / or a metal salt thereof, wherein the metal salt is in particular an alkali metal salt, in particular a sodium salt, an alkaline earth metal salt or a transition metal salt, preferably from the group zinc, manganese, copper and iron.
  • the metal salt is in particular an alkali metal salt, in particular a sodium salt, an alkaline earth metal salt or a transition metal salt, preferably from the group zinc, manganese, copper and iron.

  • the pyrithione metal salt or pyrithione derivative metal salt may be a zinc salt, especially zinc pyrithione.
  • the quaternary ammonium salt has a trialkoxysilylpropyl group, in particular dimethyltetradecyl [3- (trimethoxysilyl) propyl] ammonium chloride or 3- (tri-methoxysilyl) propyldimethyl octadecyl ammonium chloride.
  • Equipping a plurality of layers, that is to say in particular also the support layer, with the at least antibacterial active substance is initially rather disadvantageous in terms of manufacturing technology than a coating having a surface coating on the surface.
  • the filter medium has the at least one at least antibacterial active ingredient over its entire thickness.
  • By a configuration with support layer advantageously improved pressure resistance is achieved.
  • the first layer and the second layer can each be provided with an active substance-containing impregnation and / or a coating containing active ingredient.

  • the active ingredient-containing coating and / or impregnation may comprise a binder based on polyacrylate.
  • the binder may be a so-called hydrophobically modified polyacrylate (HASE) or a polyacrylate, which is crosslinked with polyurethane to form a hybrid polymer.
  • HASE hydrophobically modified polyacrylate
  • the active ingredient-containing, in particular zinc pyrithione-containing, polyacrylate coating allows a slow washout of parts of the zinc pyrithione molecules, so that the coating has a depot effect. • the above-mentioned values of the air permeability are to be understood against the background of ISO 9237, which according to the measurement is to be applied with a differential pressure of 200 Pa.
  • the first layer formed as a support layer may in particular have a lattice structure, preferably with a thickness of less than 0.8 mm. Even significantly smaller thicknesses are possible, wherein a minimum thickness is influenced by the strength properties of the material used for the grid.
  • the first layer formed as a lattice structure serves for mechanical stabilization of the second layer, which is especially important when the second layer is a nonwoven layer, and has a drainage function.
  • the first layer may comprise at least 80% by weight of synthetic fibers, in particular PET fibers, PBT fibers, PA fibers and / or PP fibers and / or PE fibers.
  • the filter medium in addition to the at least two aforementioned layers at least one third layer, in particular a spunbond layer, which is formed downstream of the second layer, wherein the third layer is formed as a support layer.
  • the third layer may in particular be formed with a lower dust absorption capacity, in particular with at least a two times lower dust absorption capacity than the second layer.
  • the second layer which is formed as a filtration layer, quasi sandwiched between the two support layers, first layer and third layer, added. This has the advantage that the filtration layer can be optimally supported in both possible directions of flow. When using the filter medium in a filter element of a water injection system, this is advantageous since reversing the flow direction can occur for backwashing system components such as the injection nozzles / valves and / or the pump.
  • each layer of the filter medium now has an active substance-containing impregnation and / or an active substance-containing coating. This is particularly advantageous to ensure that no germ load in intermediate layers or supporting layers on the clean or raw side builds.
  • each layer of the filter medium, the two, three or more layers, is individually provided with the active ingredient. The layers can also be penetrated by the active ingredient in each case.
  • the ratio between the concentration of zinc pyrithione and the concentration of binder in the impregnation and / or coating can therefore be adjusted by a laboratory assistant or an engineer for paints and varnishes by routine work such that at least 0.1% by weight of zinc pyrithione is present h in water at 65 ° C from the coating and / or impregnation is ausschwemmbar.
  • the first layer may have a smaller thickness, in particular a thickness at least 1.5 times smaller, than the second layer.
  • the second layer formed as a filtration layer is to be selected such that dust particles or microbes having a size of 10 ⁇ m are also retained quantitatively, that is to say more than 95%, in particular more than 99%.
  • a corresponding specification regarding the size of the dust particles to be filtered is given in the product data sheet for most commercially available filter media.
  • the first layer may have a lower weight per unit area, in particular a surface weight that is at least 1.2 times lower than the second layer. Overall, the first layer is only the support of the second layer, which can take over the actual task of particle separation from the water. However, even on the larger surfaces of a grid or other support structures microbes can accumulate and spread, which is why this has at least one at least antibacterial active ingredient.
  • a filter element which may be formed as a round filter element or flat filter element.
  • the filter element has a filter media pack from the filter medium according to the invention.
  • the filter media pack may in particular be a folded filter media pack, which may, for example, have a star fold to form a cylindrical filter element.
