In einem vierten Verfahrensschritt 40 wird überprüft, ob Garnlänge auf dem Kops ausreichend ist, um das Garn durch den Wartungswagen 9 vom Kops 7 durch den Ringläufer und den Fadenführer zum Streckwerk 5 zu führen und anzusetzen. Vorteilhaft kann die Garnmenge des Kopses 7 überprüft werden, in dem die Menge berechnet wird, die durch die Spindel 8 auf den Kops 7 gespult wurde. Die Garnmenge kann beispielsweise aus der Lieferung des Garns (in m/min) berechnet bzw. durch einen Sensor festgestellt und dann bestimmt werden. Die Garnmenge kann so beispielsweise über eine Berechnung einer Zeit, die die Spindel gelaufen ist, und einer Garn-Nummer in Korrelation Zeitpunkt des Fadenbruchs berechnet werden. Sofern nicht ausreichend Garn auf der Hülse ist, setzt sich das Verfahren beim fünften Verfahrensschritt 50 fort (linke Abzweigung).
