Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of lighting and / or signaling devices for a motor vehicle. It relates more particularly to light modules intended to be mounted in a vehicle headlight.
- Automotive headlamps usually consist of a housing which is closed by a transparent wall through which light rays pass.
- This housing houses at least one light module, mainly comprising at least one light source and an optical system capable of modifying at least one parameter of the light generated by the light source for the emission of light rays capable then of passing through the transparent wall of the projector to form regulatory light beams.
- An optical system fitted to a light module can comprise optical elements configured to direct the light rays towards a ray-shaping lens for the projection, at the output of the module and of the projector, of a regulatory light beam.
- the light sources and the corresponding optical elements can in particular be configured to generate a first light beam, called high beam, and a second light beam, called low beam.
- light sources for example light-emitting diodes, are fixed on a base forming a support also for the optical elements, so that the position of each other is reliable.
- the documents CN 203 131 661 U , FR 2 814 221 A1 and EP 3 159 599 A1 disclose state of the art light modules.
- each of the optical elements can comprise openings formed in the thickness of the material, advantageously in end zones of these optical elements so as not to penalize the guiding of the light rays within them, and the mounting of the optical elements on them.
- the mounting bracket is designed so that these openings are placed opposite bores formed on the mounting bracket to allow screw fixing of the optical element to the mounting bracket.
- the object of the present invention is to alleviate at least one of the aforementioned drawbacks and to provide a light module making it possible to reduce its manufacturing and assembly cost while avoiding mechanically constraining the optical elements of such a light module.
- the invention relates to a light module for a motor vehicle headlight, comprising light sources, optical elements configured respectively to ensure the guiding of light rays emitted by a light source, and a mounting support against which are arranged the optical elements and the light sources, the optical elements comprising a first optical element associated with a first light source, a second optical element associated with a second light source and a third optical element associated with a third source of light light.
- the first optical element comprises means for maintaining the second optical element and the third optical element on the fixing support.
- this first optical element it is possible to reduce the set of openings and bores formed respectively on the optical elements and on the fixing support for fixing the former to the latter. It will be understood that this has the effect of reducing the costs of machining and assembling such a light module. Indeed, during stages assembly, only the first optical element is fixed to the fixing support by suitable means, such as screwing means for example.
- suitable means such as screwing means for example.
- assembly stages it is envisaged, for example, to position, firstly, the second optical element and the third optical element on the fixing support before coming to position, in a second stage, the first optical element of so as to maintain the second optical element and the third optical element in abutment against the fixing support and to fix, in a third step, the first optical element on the fixing support.
- the maintenance of the second optical element and of the third optical element by the first optical element has the advantage of eliminating the mechanical stresses by screwing on these second and third optical elements.
- the mechanical stresses on screwing the second and third optical elements are then offset on the means for holding the first optical element.
- the means for holding the first optical element can be configured to cover at least part of the second optical element and part of the third optical element.
- each of the optical elements comprises an optical guiding part, configured for guiding the light rays emitted by the corresponding light source and extended laterally by fins, the fins of the first optical element being configured to carry said means of holding, the optical guiding portion of the first optical element being disposed between the second optical element and the third optical element.
- the first optical element, carrying the holding means has a central position makes it possible to distribute the pressure uniformly on the optical elements arranged on either side of the central optical element. It is particularly advantageous to use this solution, when the central element has a longitudinal dimension, that is to say a dimension along the optical axis, perpendicular to the fixing support, greater than that of the other optical elements. .
- the arrangement of the holding means on each side of the first optical element makes it possible to ensure a stable position of this central optical element and a uniform distribution of the pressure forces for the position of other optical elements.
- the first optical element can be configured to participate in the formation of a beam complementary to the beam formed by the second optical element, this beam formed by the second optical element consisting of a so-called crossing beam. It should be noted that an edge of the central optical portion of the first optical element can form a cutoff edge of the beam formed by the second optical element and its associated light source.
- the addition of the beam formed by the second optical element and of the additional beam generates the formation of an overall beam of the high beam type.
- the third optical element can be configured to allow the formation of an additional beam which over-intensifies the overall beam formed by the complementarity of said beam and additional beam.
- the means for maintaining the first optical element may comprise, on a first face pressed against the fixing support, at least one notch dimensioned to accommodate one end of the second or third optical element. Thanks to this or these notches formed on the first optical element, it is possible to block the second optical element and the third optical element using the first optical element by pressing them correctly against the fixing support.
- the holding means carried by the first optical element can both bear against the fixing support, at the level of a first face, and against the other optical elements themselves resting on the fixing support, at the level of the notches. . The pressure force is thus transmitted to the second and third optical elements to clamp them against the fixing support, in a stable manner, the first optical element being in flat contact against the fixing support.
- the first optical element is configured so that the optical guiding part directs the light rays towards a shaping lens of the light module along an optical axis, and so that the holding means extend on either side. of the optical guide portion perpendicular to the optical axis and along the mounting bracket.
- the holding means may in particular include legs extending on either side of the lateral ends of the optical guiding part of the first optical element to overlap on the one hand with the second optical element and on the other hand with the third optical element .
- Such legs make it possible to separate the optical function of the first optical element and its function of maintaining the second optical element and the third optical element.
- the recovery of the second optical element and of the third optical element by the first optical element is a partial recovery which is intended to make it possible to maintain this second optical element and this third optical element without however preventing their optical function. Provision can be made, for example, for the legs of the first optical element to cover the ends of each of the second and third optical elements.
- the holding means configured to hold the second and third optical element comprises a means for fixing the first optical element on the fixing support.
- the fixing of the first optical element on the fixing support for example by screwing means, makes it possible to keep the second optical element and the third optical element fixed against the fixing support. As may have been specified previously, all of the optical elements are thus held in position with a minimum of fixing means.
- the fixing means may be formed by a hole at one end of a leg forming part of the holding means, the hole being configured to receive a fixing screw intended to be received in a bore formed in the fixing support.
- the mechanical screwing force of the first element is not eliminated, unlike the second optical element and third optical element.
- the mechanical force for screwing the first optical element is offset from its bases towards the ends of its legs.
- the legs forming part of the holding means can be grouped together in pairs of legs configured to hold each end of an optical element: a first pair of legs can be associated with the second optical element and a second pair of legs can be associated with the third optical element.
- the pairs of legs can be configured so that each leg comprises a first portion and a second portion, the second portion being consecutive to the first portion, the first portion comprising the notch of the corresponding leg arranged to receive a fin of a optical element, the second portion comprising the means for fixing the corresponding leg, the second portion being oriented in a direction different from the direction of the first portion.
- the invention is not limited to this configuration, and provision can be made for the first portion and the second portion of a leg, in particular for reasons of size and / or stability of the first optical element, to be oriented in the same direction.
- the means for fixing at least one leg of a pair of legs is formed opposite the notch of the corresponding leg.
- the aim of this embodiment is to combine the retention of the second and third optical elements with the fixing by screwing of the first optical element.
- the fixing means is formed by a hole, this hole is formed on the leg to pass through the corresponding notch and to be in correspondence, on the one hand, with an opening formed in the fin. corresponding second or third optical element and, on the other hand, a bore of the mounting bracket.
- the indexing pins of the second optical element and the indexing pins of the third optical element have the advantage of making it possible to position their respective optical element on the fixing support so that the first optical element and the second optical element are respectively in position. sight of at least a second light source and at least a third light source.
- the light module can be configured so that each optical element is disposed between a light source of each of the light beams and a shaping lens arranged at the output of the light module.
- Each optical element can be configured to emit a light beam in the direction of this shaping lens arranged at the output of the light module.
- the light beams from the light source are guided by the corresponding optical element and then projected towards the shaping lens to alternately form a first so-called road light flux, and a second so-called crossing light flux.
- This first so-called driving light flux corresponds to the configuration of a motor vehicle in the main beam position and this second so-called dipped light flux corresponds to the configuration of a motor vehicle in the dipped beam position.
- the subject of the invention is a motor vehicle headlight comprising at least one light module as described above.
- the figure 1 illustrates a light module 1 according to the invention, otherwise called optical module, the function of which is to generate and project one or more light beams on a road.
- a light module 1 is intended to be installed in a headlight of a motor vehicle not shown in the figures in order to facilitate understanding of the invention.
- the headlight mentioned here generally comprises a rear housing closed at the front by a transparent glass, the latter being traversed by the light rays created by the light module according to the invention.
- Such a projector can thus receive in its interior volume, delimited by the rear housing and the transparent glass, a plurality of light modules, and at least one light module according to the invention.
- Such a light module 1 forms a unitary sub-assembly, that is to say an object which can fulfill its function without any input other than the electrical energy necessary for its ignition.
- the light module 1 is arranged to create a low beam beam and a high beam beam, one after the other or both simultaneously. As will be explained in more detail below, the light module 1 is adapted so that the high beam is the combination of the low beam beam with a complementary beam.
- the light module 1 comprises at least a plurality of light sources and a plurality of associated optical elements. It also comprises at least one lens 100 arranged at one end of the module so as to be traversed by the light rays emitted by the light sources and guided by the optical elements. Such a shaping lens 100 participates in the formation of the desired light beam, whether it is a beam of the low beam type or a beam of the high beam type. In other words, the shaping lens 100 forms a first longitudinal end of the light module 1.
- the figure 1 also shows the presence of a casing 102 which has a substantially tubular shape and which extends between a base forming a fixing support 5 and the shaping lens, such a casing providing in particular the mechanical support of the shaping lens. shape, as well as a mechanical referencing of the position of the lens relative to the light sources and to the optical elements, so as to guarantee a determined position of the shaping lens relative to the light sources.
- a casing 102 which has a substantially tubular shape and which extends between a base forming a fixing support 5 and the shaping lens, such a casing providing in particular the mechanical support of the shaping lens. shape, as well as a mechanical referencing of the position of the lens relative to the light sources and to the optical elements, so as to guarantee a determined position of the shaping lens relative to the light sources.
- the fixing support 5 may have on its face opposite the casing 102 a heat dissipation member 104, intended to remove from the light module 1 at least part of the heat generated by the light sources.
- the figure 2 shows a part of the light module 1, and in particular the fixing support 5 without the housing 102, so as to facilitate understanding of the arrangement in the light module 1 of the optical elements associated with the light sources here not visible.
- these optical elements are fixed on the fixing support such that one of the optical elements comprises means for holding the other optical elements, so that it is not necessary to provide means for specific fixing of these other optical elements on the fixing support.
- a light module equipped with three optical elements will be described respectively facing a light source, and a first optical element will be described as configured to allow the covering and fixing of the other two elements. optical, but it will be understood that a light module would be in accordance with the invention since it allows the plating against the fixing support, and therefore the maintenance in position, of a plurality of optical elements by another optical element .
- the light module 1 comprises a first optical element 2 configured to ensure the guiding of light rays emitted by a first light source 202, a second optical element 3 configured to ensure the guiding of light rays emitted by a second light source, here not visible, and a third optical element 4 configured to ensure the guiding of light rays emitted by a third light source, here not visible.
- the term “light source” is understood to mean one or more light sources forming a sub-assembly controlled to emit light rays configured to perform an optical function. More precisely, the first light source 200, or a first subset of light sources, is associated with the first optical element 2 to generate a first light beam, and the second light source, or a second subset of light sources , is associated with the second optical element 3 to generate a second light beam.
- This second light beam corresponds to a beam of the dipped-beam type, having a cut-off edge here formed here by the edge 200 of the free end face 201 of the first optical element 2 which is located on the side of the second optical element.
- the first light beam, coming out of this end face free of the first optical element thus has a beam shape complementary to the second light beam, such that the simultaneous emission of rays by the first and the second source participates in forming an overall beam of the high beam type.
- the third light source is associated with the third optical element 4 to generate light rays capable of over-intensifying the center of the overall beam of the high beam type.
- Each of the optical elements has a general shape having a central optical portion, forming part of an optical guide, and lateral fins, arranged laterally on either side of the central optical portion.
- the first optical element 2 comprises a first optical guiding part 20 extended at its lateral ends by first fins 21
- the second optical element 3 comprises a second optical guiding part 30 extended at its lateral ends by second fins 31
- the third optical element 4 comprises a third optical guide portion 40 extended at its ends by third fins 41.
- optical elements 2, 3, 4 are designed to be placed on a fixing support 5, and more particularly on a first face 50 of the fixing support.
- the first optical element 2 is arranged on the fixing support 5 between the second and third optical elements 3, 4.
- one of the optical elements 2, and in particular the first optical element in the examples which follow comprises means 6 for holding the other optical elements 3, 4 against the fixing support 5, and in particular against the first face 50 of the fixing support.
- the presence of these holding means 6 is intended to hold a plurality of optical elements 3, 4 against the fixing support 5 without exerting a mechanical force by screwing directly onto these optical elements.
- the holding means 6 of the first optical element 2 are arranged at the level of the first fins 21 of the first optical element and they are configured to overlap the ends of the other optical elements.
- the assembly of such a light module comprises a first step during which optical elements 3, 4 are arranged on the fixing support 5, respectively in look at the light source to which they correspond to generate an appropriate light beam in the direction of the beam-shaping lens of the module.
- the first optical element 2 comprising the holding means 6 is disposed on the fixing support 5, against the first face 50 thereof, so as to cover the ends of the optical elements 3, 4 already in place, before being fixed by screwing on the fixing support 5 using a fixing means 7, of the clamping screw type.
- the holding means 6 of the first optical element 2 are arranged around the optical guide parts 20, 30, 40 of the optical elements 2, 3, 4 so that it does not penalize the production of the optical function, that is to say the guiding of the rays emitted by the sources towards the shaping lens 100 of the rays at the output of the light module 1.
- the first optical element 2 is arranged on the fixing support 5 between the second and third optical elements 3, 4, so that the central optical element, namely the first, is used. optical element 2, to ensure the maintenance of the other optical elements 3, 4. It is understood that this embodiment allows a substantially equal distribution of the holding forces between each of the optical elements held by the central optical element.
- the first optical element 2 comprises means 6 for holding the second optical element 3 and the third optical element 4 on the fixing support 5. More particularly, the holding means 6 for the first optical element 2 are formed by at least two legs, here four in number, 60,61,62,63 which extend one of the first fins 21 to overlap the second and third fins 31, 41 of the second and third optical elements 3, 4. As illustrated, such a covering of the ends of the second optical element 3 and those of the third optical element 4 does not prevent the optical guiding parts 30, 40 from performing their optical functions.
- the legs 60,61,62,63 make it possible to separate the optical function of the first optical element 2 and its function of maintaining the second optical element 3 and the third optical element 4.
- the figures 3 and 4 show the optical elements 2, 3, 4, as they are arranged when they are assembled on the fixing support 5.
- the various optical elements are configured to guide light rays in the direction of the ray-shaping lens, not visible in these figures, mainly along an optical axis A shown in figure 3 .
- the legs 60,61,62,63 forming part of the holding means 6 of the first optical element 2 extend perpendicularly to the optical axis A, so as to run along the fixing support 5 and press against it the second and third optical elements 3, 4.
- the legs 60,61,62,63 extend from the fins 21 extending the first optical element 2 perpendicular to the optical axis A and in the direction defined by the series of arrangement of optical elements. In this way, at least one leg extends along the fixing support from the first optical element towards a second optical element and at least one leg extends along the fixing support from this first optical element towards a third element. optical.
- the holding means 6 configured to hold the second and third optical element, here formed by the legs 60,61,62,63, are furthermore configured to allow the first optical element to be held on the fixing support, via of a fixing means 7.
- the fixing means 7 comprises a hole 70 arranged at one end of a leg, the hole being configured to receive a fixing screw 71 intended to be housed in a bore formed in the mounting bracket.
- each leg comprises a first portion 60A, 62A and a second portion 60B, 62B, the first portion being arranged in the direct extension of the fin 21 of the first optical element 2 and the second portion being configured to extend the first portion beyond the other optical element that this leg participates in maintaining against the fixing support.
- the second portion comprises the hole 70 forming part of the fixing means of the first optical element, and this second portion is here oriented in a direction different from the direction of the first portion. It will be understood that the orientation of the second portion takes into account the size of the light module and the space available on the fixing support, as well as the stability to be given to the first optical element.
- the fixing of the first optical element on the fixing support makes it possible to keep the second optical element and the third fixed. optical element against the mounting bracket. As may have been specified previously, all of the optical elements are thus held in position with a minimum of fixing means.
- Each of the optical elements is formed in one piece. More particularly, the body forming the first optical guide part 20, the fins 21 and the legs 60,61,62,63 are formed integrally, in a one-piece assembly. In this way, the positioning of the legs against the fixing support generates the positioning of the first optical guide part 20 with respect to this fixing support and with respect to the light sources carried by this fixing support.
- the legs 60,61,62,63 of the first optical element 2 can be molded onto the fins 21 arranged on either side of the optical guide part 20 of the first optical element 2.
- This overmolding makes it possible to reduce the manufacturing costs of the first optical element 2 by using a plastic material different from that used to produce the optical guiding part 20.
- a plastic material different from that used to produce the optical guiding part 20.
- at least the optical guiding part of the first optical element 2 is made of polycarbonate (PC).
- PC polycarbonate
- Such a plastic material has the advantage of exhibiting transparency properties with a good refractive index, and an appropriate resistance to temperature.
- the fins 21, 31, 41 of the optical elements 2, 3, 4 are configured to allow the cooperation of the holding means 6 and the ends of the second and third optical elements as will be described below, and to allow the optical guide parts 20, 30, 40 of these optical elements to be disengaged longitudinally with respect to the plane of the fixing support to make room for the light sources themselves pressed against the fixing support. A longitudinal offset is thus necessary between the fins and the optical guiding part of each optical element.
- the fins of each optical element 2, 3, 4 are formed by a first portion 21A, 31A, 41A, arranged in the direct extension of the corresponding lateral end of the optical guide part 20, 30, 40, and by a second portion 21B, 31B, 41B intended to be pressed against the fixing support 5.
- the first portion 21A, 31A, 41A extends longitudinally, substantially parallel to the optical axis of the light module and therefore perpendicular to the fixing support, so that it is the length of this first portion which determines the spacing of the guide part of the optical elements relative to the fixing support to make room for light sources.
- the second portion 21B, 31B, 41B extends the first portion 21A, 31A, 41A perpendicularly to form a bearing face parallel to the plane mainly defining the fixing support.
- the legs 60, 61, 62, 63 extend more particularly from the second portion 21B of the fin 21 of the first optical element 2, so as to overlap the second portions 31B and 41B of the other optical elements.
- a first pair of legs 60, 61 formed by a first leg 60 and a second leg 61, is associated with the second optical element 3 and a second pair of legs 62, 63, formed by a third leg 62 and a fourth leg 63 is associated with the third optical element 4.
- the first leg 60 and the second leg 61 are arranged to face each other so as to cover the ends of the second optical element 3, while the third leg 62 and fourth leg 63 are arranged to face each other so as to cover the ends of the third optical element 4.
- the legs 60, 61 of the first pair of legs are identical to each other and the legs 62, 63 of the second pair of legs are also identical to each other, however being distinct from the legs of the first pair of legs. It will be understood that this is specific to the illustrated embodiment in which the second and third optical elements 3, 4 are of different shapes, but that the pairs of legs could be the same if the optical elements were to have different shapes and dimensions.
- the legs 60, 61, 62, 63 each have a first face 601, intended to be pressed against the fixing support. On this first face, the legs have notches 64, 65 dimensioned to receive respectively a fin 31, 41 of the other optical elements 3, 4 arranged on either side of the first optical element 2. These notches consist of a smaller area. thickness formed from the inner edge 602 of the legs forming the holding means 6 integral with the first optical element, the inner edge 602 being the one facing the optical guide part. The notches can be obtained by machining the first face 601, or else formed during a molding operation of the first optical element.
- the second fins 31 formed at the lateral ends of the second optical element 3 are intended to be housed in a pair of first notches 64 respectively arranged on one of the legs of a first pair of legs 60, 61.
- the third fins 41 shapes at the ends of the third optical element 4 are housed in second notches 65 arranged respectively on one of the legs of a second pair of legs 62, 63.
- the thickness of the fins 31, 41 of the second and third optical elements is substantially equal to the depth of the notches 64, 65, the thickness and the depth being measured, when the optical elements are assembled on the fixing support, in a direction perpendicular to the plane in which this fixing support extends. In this way, when the optical elements are assembled on the fixing support 5, the positioning of the fins in the notches does not prevent the fact that the first face 601 of the legs of the first optical element, which is arranged on the fixing support after the other optical elements, is pressed against the mounting bracket 5.
- the first face 601 of the retaining means is made more particularly visible, in which the notches for receiving the fins of the second and third optical elements are formed.
- This first face comprises indexing pins 21C arranged projecting from the fins 21, and configured to correspond in shape and dimensions with orifices formed in the fixing support 5 and here not visible.
- each of the fins 31, 41 of the other optical elements comprises an indexing pin 31C, 41C, turned towards the side of the first face 601 of the holding means when the optical elements are assembled against the fixing support, and configured to match a hole formed in the mounting bracket. Thanks to these pins, it is possible to pre-position each optical element 2, 3, 4 on the fixing support 5 before the final fixing by means of the fixing means 7.
- each optical element 2, 3 , 4 is well positioned with respect to the fixing support 5 and with respect to the light sources previously made integral with the fixing support, in particular by gluing on a printed circuit board integral with this fixing support and here not shown. It will be understood that this allows, for each optical element 2, 3, 4, to align the optical guide part 20, 30, 40 with a corresponding light source, or a subset of light sources.
- the indexing pins 21C, 31C, 41C are formed on the second portions of the fins 21, 31, 41.
- the optical elements 2, 3 , 4 are easily arranged on the fixing support 5, by contact of the second portions of the fins 21, 31, 41 against this fixing support, it being understood that the second and third optical element are arranged beforehand to allow the covering their ends by the retaining means formed by the first optical element 2.
- the indexing pin 31C can be arranged in a part of the fin of a second and / or third optical element which is subsequently covered by one of the legs of the first optical element.
- the assembly is thus made more compact since the means fulfilling the pre-positioning function and those fulfilling the function of fixing by covering are stacked one on top of the other.
- the indexing pins 21C, 31C, 41C of the optical elements 2, 3, 4 make it possible, on the one hand, to individually position each of the optical elements 2, 3, 4 in the desired optical configuration, and on the other hand, to position the optical elements 2, 3, 4 with respect to each other so as to allow the complementarity of the optical functions that they provide, and in particular so as to generate, alternately, a first luminous flux, called a road light, and a second luminous flux, said to be crossing.
- indexing pins 21C, 31C, 41C make it possible to block their respective optical element 2, 3, 4 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis A, while the legs 60,61,62,63 of the first element optical 2 make it possible to block the second and third optical elements 3, 4 in a direction parallel to the optical axis A, the first optical element 2 being fixed to the fixing support 5 by screwing.
- the fixing means 7 of the legs 60,61,62,63 can be arranged in the vicinity of the notches. More particularly, there is illustrated a first variant for fixing the second optical element and a second variant for fixing the third optical element.
- the first optical element comprises holding means configured to fix the other optical elements against the fixing support.
- the fixing means is arranged in the lateral extension of the notch of the corresponding leg, in which is intended to be housed, as before, one end of an optical element.
- the guide part of the optical element, a fin and a hole forming part of the fixing means are thus arranged in line successively.
- the fixing means allowing the fixing of the first optical element on the support are separated from the receiving notches of the other optical elements, so that the other optical elements are not maintained only by the pressing force exerted by the legs of the first optical element, and therefore without the need to specifically machine the third optical element and risk impairing its optical performance.
- the fixing means is arranged through a notch.
- the hole is formed on the leg 60,61,62,63 to pass through the corresponding notch and to correspond, on the one hand, to an opening formed in the corresponding fin 31, 41 of the second or third optical element. 3, 4 and, on the other hand, a bore of the fixing support 5.
- This variant embodiment makes it possible to obtain a more compact assembly insofar as the leg does not have to be extended beyond l 'notch to provide a space for receiving the fixing means.
