Definitions
- the invention relates to a sealing tape for sealing a joint between a frame element, e.g. a window or door frame, and a building.
- a frame element e.g. a window or door frame
- Various systems are known which are suitable for sealing frame elements, for example of window or door frames, in building openings of a building after the mechanical fixing of the frame in the building opening.
- Such systems typically include a foam tape to provide a seal against draft and thermal insulation.
- the seal it is often required that the seal be vapor-tight or vapor-diffusion-resistant or have other sealing properties that a flexible foam tape alone can not meet.
- the foam tape may have an additional coating or film.
- a sealing tape for sealing a joint between a frame element and a building comprises a foam strip which has a substantially rectangular cross-section with a top side, a bottom side opposite the top side and two longitudinal side edges and extends in a longitudinal direction, wherein on the underside a first Adhesive layer is provided for attachment of the foam tape on the frame member.
- the sealing strip comprises a foil strip which has a first edge portion, a second edge portion and a connecting portion, wherein the connecting portion between the first and the second edge portion is arranged. The first edge portion is arrested at the top of the foam tape with the foam tape and the connecting portion and the second edge portion are not arrested with the foam tape.
- This sealing tape can be used substantially independently of the encountered shape of the masonry by the foil strip of the sealing tape is passed through the joint so that it extends completely from the masonry to the frame member through the joint.
- the film strip can be guided directly from the top of the foam tape to the masonry and arrested with this.
- the bottom of the foam tape should always be defined the surface of the foam tape, which is to be arrested flat with the frame member.
- the side edges of the foam tape thus extend in the longitudinal direction of the sealing band and in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction and transversely to a direction from the room inside to the room outside.
- the first edge portion is arrested only in an edge region of the upper side of the foam tape with this.
- the foil strip in the second edge portion has a second adhesive layer for attachment to the building or to the frame element. In this way, a connection between the second edge portion and the building or the frame element can be made as simple and fast as possible.
- first and the second adhesive layer are each covered with a peelable release film. Peelable release films ensures that the adhesive layers covered by these adhere to unwanted positions or elements before assembly or lose their adhesive power due to contamination.
- At least the connecting portion of the film strip on a variable s d value may preferably also have the entire foil strip a variable s d value.
- An s d value is understood to mean the water vapor diffusion resistance of a material, also referred to as diffusion-equivalent air layer thickness.
- the s d value with the unit “m” (meter) is calculated from the layer thickness of the (film) material multiplied by the water vapor diffusion resistance coefficient ⁇ of the material.
- the ⁇ value and the s d value are defined in DIN-EN-ISO 12572: 2001-09 and determined according to the methods described therein.
- s d value water vapor diffusion resistance
- Polyamide or an ionomer material is suitable, for example, as material for producing a film band with a variable s d value.
- the s d value of the film strip at an average relative humidity of 40% is more than 3 m, more preferably more than 5 m, and even more preferably more than 7 m.
- the s d value of the film strip at an average relative humidity of more than 60% is less than 5 m, more preferably less than 3 m, more preferably less than 1 m.
- the s d value within these limits must be lower for higher mean air humidity than for lower mean air humidity.
- the foam tape is formed from a flexible foam which is elastically compressible, resilient after compression and preferably impregnated for retarding recovery.
- Soft foam is particularly suitable as a material for sealing joints due to its heat-insulating and elastic properties as well as good processability.
- the flexible foam may be formed from a substantially open-celled polyurethane, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or polypropylene foam.
- the flexible foam can also be formed from a closed-cell foam.
- the compressibility and preferably delayed resilience of the foam allow for easy insertion of the sealing band into the joint or the sealing banded frame member into the building opening. Due to the delayed restoring capacity, sufficient time remains for mounting the frame in the building opening. Subsequent to insertion into the joint or into the building opening, the delayed reset takes place until the upper side of the foam lies as flat as possible against the masonry.
- the sealing tape is rolled up in a transport state to a sealing tape roll, wherein the second edge portion in the transport state between two adjacent Windings of the foam tape is arranged.
- Sealing rolls are particularly suitable for space-saving storage and transport of sealing strips. Characterized in that the second edge portion is disposed between two adjacent turns of the foam tape, it is avoided that the connecting portion and the second edge portion protrude in the transport state of the sealing tape roll. Such projecting portions would hinder stacking of multiple sealing tape rolls, take up more space and may be easily damaged during shipping.
- the first edge portion is arranged in the transport state between two adjacent turns of the foam tape. It is further preferred that the first and the second edge portion are arranged and / or the connecting portion is folded such that the entire film strip rests flat against the foam tape. In particular, then in the transport state of the connecting portion is flat on a side edge of the foam tape, so that the sealing tape is designed to save space in the transport state.
- the installation state is the state in which the sealing tape is inserted into a joint between the frame member and the building and is connected by means of the first adhesive layer with the frame member.
- the film strip extends in the installed state, with respect to a direction perpendicular to the top of the foam tape, preferably at least over the entire height of the foam tape. This ensures that the entire gap sealed by the foam tape is also sealed by the film strip.
- the width of the film strip corresponds to at least 1 times, more preferably at least 2 times, more preferably at least 4 times the height of the foam tape.
- the height of the foam tape corresponds to the distance between the top and bottom of the foam tape in a fully retarded, i. uncompressed state of the foam tape.
- a width of the foam tape corresponds to the distance between the two side edges of the foam tape.
- a length of the foam tape extends in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape. In a sealing tape for sealing a joint between a frame member and a building, the length of the foam tape is a multiple of the width and height of the foam tape.
- the width of the film strip corresponds to the distance between two longitudinally extending edges of the film strip, while the length of the film strip is defined in the longitudinal direction.
- the connecting portion 14 preferably has a width of between 10 and 200 mm, more preferably between 15 and 100 mm, and even more preferably between 20 and 60 mm.
- the thickness of the film strip is very small and is less than 1 mm, preferably 5 .mu.m to 500 .mu.m, more preferably 10 .mu.m to 100 .mu.m.
- Fig. 1 shows a sealing tape 1 for sealing a joint between a frame member (not shown) and a building (not shown).
- the sealing strip comprises a foam strip 2 and a foil strip 4.
- the foam strip 2 has a substantially rectangular cross-section with an upper side 2a, a lower side 2b opposite the upper side 2a, and two longitudinal side flanks 2c, 2d.
- this Foam tape 2 shown in a fully retracted state and has a rectangular cross-section. It is understood that all sides of the foam tape may have a slightly curved surface when the foam tape is compressed.
- a first adhesive layer 6 is provided to attach the foam tape 2 to the frame member.
- the first adhesive layer 6 is preferably covered with a peelable release film 8. Before the sealing tape 1 is mounted on a frame element, the peelable release film 8 is to be removed from the first adhesive layer 6. The first adhesive layer 6 is then exposed to be adhered to the frame member.
- the first adhesive layer 6 is formed from a double-sided adhesive layer.
- the foil strip 4 has a first edge section 10, a second edge section 12 and a connecting section 14.
- the connecting portion 14 is arranged in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction between the first and the second edge portion 10, 12.
- a first edge portion 10 of the film strip 4 starting from a longitudinal edge of the film strip 4 of the section is defined, which is arrested with the foam tape 2. This is preferably narrow, but can also form an arbitrarily large proportion of the film strip 4.
- As a second edge portion 12 of the portion of the film strip 4 is defined, which has a second adhesive layer 16 to attach the second edge portion 12 to the building or on the frame member.
- the second edge section 12 extends starting from a longitudinal edge of the film strip 4 lying opposite the first edge section 10.
- the second adhesive layer 16 is also formed by a double-sided adhesive layer and may be covered by a peelable release film which is to be peeled off the structure or frame member prior to securing the second edge portion 12.
- the first edge portion 10 is adhered to the top 2a of the foam tape 2 with this.
- a third adhesive layer 17 may be provided, which is applied on the upper side 2a of the foam tape 2 or in the first edge portion 10 of the film strip 4.
- the foil strip 4 can also be laminated or welded to the Foam tape 2 are connected.
- the connecting portion 14 and the second edge portion 12, however, are not arrested with the foam tape 2.
- the film strip 4 has a first, the foam tape 2 facing surface, and a second, the foam tape 2 facing away from surface.
- the second adhesive layer 16 is preferably disposed on the first surface. But it can also be arranged on the second surface. If the second adhesive layer 16 is arranged on the first surface of the film strip 4, a further adhesive layer may additionally be arranged on the second surface of the film strip 4 on the second edge section.
- a functional direction of the sealing tape 1 is defined in Fig. 1 indicated by the arrow F. This functional direction F is aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the foam tape 2.
- the functional direction F extends from the interior of the room to the outside of the room. Accordingly, the foam tape 2 and the film strip 4 in the direction of operation F are arranged one behind the other. A fluid flow in or against the direction of operation F through the joint must therefore penetrate both the foam tape 2 and the film strip 4.
- the film strip 4 preferably extends, with respect to a direction perpendicular to the upper side 2a of the foam tape 2 and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, over at least the entire height of the foam tape 2. However, at least the film strip 4 extends in this direction over a free region of the joint which is to be sealed.
- the connecting portion 14 and the second edge portion 12 protrude in the installed state, for example, as in Fig. 1 represented by the foam tape 2 from. This is due to the fact that the second edge portion 12 is offset in the direction of action F offset to the foam tape 2 on the building or on the frame member. There is great flexibility in the selection of the area in which the second edge portion 12 can be attached to the building or the frame element. Depending on the existing conditions of the building structure or wall construction sealing strips 1 with different wide film strips 4 are kept in order to ensure a reliable and proper sealing of the joint in a variety of installation situations.
- a cavity is formed between the foam tape 2 and the film strip 4, which, if desired, can be filled with a suitable insulating material.
- the first edge section 10 and the second edge section 16 essentially serve to fasten the film strip 4 to the foam strip 2 and to the structure or frame element.
- a fluid flow in or against the operating direction F through the film strip 4 does not penetrate the first edge section 10 due to its orientation in the direction of operation F, in most arrangements not the second edge section 12 either.
- the second edge portion 12 may also be arranged obliquely or perpendicular to the functional direction F.
- the first and the second edge portion 10, 12 may be narrow.
- the first edge portion 10 is arrested only in an edge region 18 of the top 2a of the foam tape 2 with this. In any case, however, the surface of the edge portions 10, 12 must be sufficient to ensure a reliable adhesion between the foil strip 4 and the foam tape 2 or the foil strip 4 and the building or the frame element.
- Fig. 1 can be further seen, consequently, substantially the connecting portion 14 in and against the operating direction F is penetrated by a fluid flow.
- the film strip 4 according to a preferred embodiment is therefore designed such that it has a variable s d value at least in sections, at least the connecting section 14 must be designed accordingly.
- the first edge portion 10, the second edge portion 12 and the connecting portion 14 may be formed of different film materials, which are connected together in a suitable manner, for example by welding.
- the first edge portion 10, the second edge portion 12 and the connecting portion 14 are integrally formed and formed of the same material.
- the entire foil strip 4 has a variable s d value.
- the foil strip 4 fastened to the upper side 2a has a foil strip (not shown) attached to it, which is opposite this and is attached to an edge region of the upper side 2a assigned to the left side flank 2c.
- This joint areas can be sealed right and left of the foam tape 2 by two film strips.
- the two film strips can then be designed differently depending on the purpose. For example, the s d value of one film band may change more or less than that of the other film band.
- a diffusion gradient in the functional direction can be set by means of two foil strips.
- Fig. 2 the sealing tape 1 is shown in a state in which it is to roll up to a sealing tape roll. If the sealing tape 1 after Fig. 2 rolled up to a sealing tape roll and brought in this way in a transport state, more turns on the top 2a of the foam tape 2 and the bottom 2b or the release film 8 are arranged adjacent and the sealing tape 1 is compressed.
- the film strip 4 is also guided along with the second edge portion 12 and the connecting portion 14 directly on the foam tape 2. Depending on the width of the film strip 4, this is guided at least from the upper side 2a around an edge of the foam tape 2 and along the side flank 2d. With a corresponding width of the film strip 4 this is further guided around another edge and along the bottom 2b of the foam tape 2. It may also be expedient to fold the film strip 4, so that it is arranged in a multi-layered manner in the transport state in a section along the foam tape 2.
- the foil strip 4 protrudes from the sealing strip 1 in the transport state and can easily be damaged. Also suitably trained sealing tape rolls can be easily stored and stacked in the transport state.
- the second adhesive layer 16 may rest directly against the release film 8 of the first adhesive layer 6 and be arrested with this.
- the film strip 4 is secured in the transport state on the foam tape 2, so that an undesirable Loosening of the second edge portion 12 and a protrusion of the film strip 4 is avoided by the sealing tape 1.
- the second adhesive layer 16 may have its own release film and be inserted only loosely between the turns of the sealing tape roll in the transport state.
- the second edge portion 12 is glued in the transport state with the first adhesive layer 6 and is to be detached from this before the assembly of the sealing tape 1.
- the second edge portion 12 of the film strip 4 can also come to rest on the top 2a of the foam tape 2.
- Table 1 gives the measured values when measuring a foil strip 4 according to sentence A of the table in chapter 7.1 of DIN-EN-ISO 12572: 2001-09, while table 2 shows the measured values when measuring the same foil strip 4 according to sentence C of the table in chapter 7.1 of the DIN-EN-ISO 12572: 2001-09.

Various systems are known which are suitable for sealing frame elements, for example of window or door frames, in building openings of a building after the mechanical fixing of the frame in the building opening. Such systems typically include a foam tape to provide a seal against draft and thermal insulation. In addition, it is often required that the seal be vapor-tight or vapor-diffusion-resistant or have other sealing properties that a flexible foam tape alone can not meet. In such cases, the foam tape may have an additional coating or film.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a sealing tape, which ensures a reliable and conventional requirements of the corresponding sealing of a joint between a frame member and a building in a variety of installation situations.
This object is solved by the subject matter of
According to the invention, a sealing tape for sealing a joint between a frame element and a building comprises a foam strip which has a substantially rectangular cross-section with a top side, a bottom side opposite the top side and two longitudinal side edges and extends in a longitudinal direction, wherein on the underside a first Adhesive layer is provided for attachment of the foam tape on the frame member. Furthermore, the sealing strip comprises a foil strip which has a first edge portion, a second edge portion and a connecting portion, wherein the connecting portion between the first and the second edge portion is arranged. The first edge portion is arrested at the top of the foam tape with the foam tape and the connecting portion and the second edge portion are not arrested with the foam tape.
This sealing tape can be used substantially independently of the encountered shape of the masonry by the foil strip of the sealing tape is passed through the joint so that it extends completely from the masonry to the frame member through the joint. In this case, the film strip can be guided directly from the top of the foam tape to the masonry and arrested with this.
As the bottom of the foam tape should always be defined the surface of the foam tape, which is to be arrested flat with the frame member. The side edges of the foam tape thus extend in the longitudinal direction of the sealing band and in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction and transversely to a direction from the room inside to the room outside.
Preferably, the first edge portion is arrested only in an edge region of the upper side of the foam tape with this.
It is preferred that the foil strip in the second edge portion has a second adhesive layer for attachment to the building or to the frame element. In this way, a connection between the second edge portion and the building or the frame element can be made as simple and fast as possible.
It is further preferred that the first and the second adhesive layer are each covered with a peelable release film. Peelable release films ensures that the adhesive layers covered by these adhere to unwanted positions or elements before assembly or lose their adhesive power due to contamination.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, at least the connecting portion of the film strip on a variable s d value. It may preferably also have the entire foil strip a variable s d value. An s d value is understood to mean the water vapor diffusion resistance of a material, also referred to as diffusion-equivalent air layer thickness. The s d value with the unit "m" (meter) is calculated from the layer thickness of the (film) material multiplied by the water vapor diffusion resistance coefficient μ of the material. The μ value and the s d value are defined in DIN-EN-ISO 12572: 2001-09 and determined according to the methods described therein.
Materials with a variable s d value have the advantageous property that their water vapor diffusion resistance (s d value) changes depending on the humidity of the surrounding atmosphere. In principle, when increasing the mean relative humidity by 20%, the s d value should decrease by at least 50%. Small variations in the s d value of less than 10% of the initial value shall be disregarded. Polyamide or an ionomer material is suitable, for example, as material for producing a film band with a variable s d value.
Preferably, the s d value of the film strip at an average relative humidity of 40% is more than 3 m, more preferably more than 5 m, and even more preferably more than 7 m. Preferably, the s d value of the film strip at an average relative humidity of more than 60% is less than 5 m, more preferably less than 3 m, more preferably less than 1 m. In any case, the s d value within these limits must be lower for higher mean air humidity than for lower mean air humidity. These values have proven to be particularly suitable for use in the sealing of building joints between a frame element and a building.
Preferably, the foam tape is formed from a flexible foam which is elastically compressible, resilient after compression and preferably impregnated for retarding recovery. Soft foam is particularly suitable as a material for sealing joints due to its heat-insulating and elastic properties as well as good processability. For example, the flexible foam may be formed from a substantially open-celled polyurethane, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or polypropylene foam. The flexible foam can also be formed from a closed-cell foam. The compressibility and preferably delayed resilience of the foam allow for easy insertion of the sealing band into the joint or the sealing banded frame member into the building opening. Due to the delayed restoring capacity, sufficient time remains for mounting the frame in the building opening. Subsequent to insertion into the joint or into the building opening, the delayed reset takes place until the upper side of the foam lies as flat as possible against the masonry.
It is preferred that the sealing tape is rolled up in a transport state to a sealing tape roll, wherein the second edge portion in the transport state between two adjacent Windings of the foam tape is arranged. Sealing rolls are particularly suitable for space-saving storage and transport of sealing strips.
Preferably, the first edge portion is arranged in the transport state between two adjacent turns of the foam tape.
It is further preferred that protrude in an installed state of the sealing tape of the connecting portion and the second edge portion of the foam tape. That is, only the first edge portion is adhered to the foam tape while the connecting portion is guided substantially spaced from the foam tape through the joint and the second edge portion is secured to the building or frame member spaced from the foam tape. The installation state is the state in which the sealing tape is inserted into a joint between the frame member and the building and is connected by means of the first adhesive layer with the frame member.
The film strip extends in the installed state, with respect to a direction perpendicular to the top of the foam tape, preferably at least over the entire height of the foam tape. This ensures that the entire gap sealed by the foam tape is also sealed by the film strip.
Particularly preferably, the width of the film strip corresponds to at least 1 times, more preferably at least 2 times, more preferably at least 4 times the height of the foam tape.
The height of the foam tape corresponds to the distance between the top and bottom of the foam tape in a fully retarded, i. uncompressed state of the foam tape. A width of the foam tape corresponds to the distance between the two side edges of the foam tape. A length of the foam tape extends in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape. In a sealing tape for sealing a joint between a frame member and a building, the length of the foam tape is a multiple of the width and height of the foam tape.
The width of the film strip corresponds to the distance between two longitudinally extending edges of the film strip, while the length of the film strip is defined in the longitudinal direction. For a clearer illustration, the individual elements in the figures are shown spaced from each other. It is understood that these elements are directly adjacent to each other in reality. This applies in particular to adhesive layers and the elements adjacent to them.
On the bottom 2b of the
The second
The
In an installed state, in which the

The
