Definitions

  • the present invention is aimed at a method for producing a multi-layer value document substrate, which is designed to be particularly forgery-proof. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to a device for producing the multi-layer value-document substrate and to the value-document substrate itself.
  • EP 2 660 067 A1 shows a document of value with a flat substrate, at least one security element on a surface of the flat substrate and with protective layers.
  • an authenticity check of a banknote also depends on whether the design or the arrangement of the individual components is as intended by an authorized manufacturer.
  • the value document substrate has a first layer on which an optical element is arranged.
  • An opaque second layer extends over the first layer and has a continuous opening in the region of the optical element.
  • the document WO 2011/138007 A1 discloses a banknote with an opaque polymer substrate.
  • the opaque polymer substrate has a motif area whose transmittance is changed by means of openings.
  • a security document having a substrate of transparent plastic material. Opacifying layers are arranged on both sides of the transparent substrate, each of which has a recess in one area in order to form a transparent surface or window in the security document. A safety device is provided in the window. A protective coating may be applied over the security device in the window.
  • a security document with a transparent substrate is known.
  • a security element is arranged on one side of the transparent substrate.
  • an opaque layer is applied to the transparent substrate, with the opaque layer being cut out in the region of the security element.
  • a method for producing a multi-layer value document substrate comprising providing a first and at least one second layer, the first layer having at least one optical element and the value document substrate being produced by connecting the layers provided, the at least one second layer having a has varying transparency.
  • a varying transparency or a varied transparency can be set in a further optional method step or can take place simultaneously with the provision of the second layer in such a way that this layer already has a varying or varied transparency.
  • the multi-layer document of value substrate is, for example, a bank note which is formed from a number of layers or plies.
  • the individual layers can also be referred to as foils, which are connected in such a way that a document of value can be formed.
  • a document of value typically includes further components, as they are already known.
  • the present invention is not limited to a bank note per se, but rather a value document substrate can also be used, for example, in common security documents such as e.g. B. passports, ID documents, driving licenses or chip cards are used.
  • a first and a second layer are provided, which are generally present as a flat material.
  • this is a carrier layer which has an optical element.
  • An optical element can be present as a security feature that can be supported with the naked eye or machines or verified fully automatically.
  • the at least one second layer can be designed in such a way that it provides a protective function with respect to the first layer.
  • the document of value can comprise any number of layers, with the first layer providing the optical element and any further layers being arranged below or above this layer.
  • optical element It is important to ensure that the optical element is not covered or always remains visible.
  • different further layers can also be provided above and below the optical element, which are at least partially transparent or semi-transparent. It is also possible to partially cover the optical element, so that again only another part of the optical element remains visible. It is thus also possible to design the second layer in such a way that it interacts with the optical element and the two elements, ie the optical element and the second layer, provide a security feature in their interaction.
  • a variation here refers to the specific design of the transparency or the arrangement of transparent and non-transparent areas.
  • a varying transparency designates the possibility that the at least one second layer can be made transparent, semitransparent and opaque with regard to individual areas.
  • three areas can be provided in the at least one second layer, where a first area is transparent, a second area is semi-transparent, and a third area is opaque. It is possible to change the individual degrees of transparency within the second layer in such a way that the varying transparency provides a pattern.
  • any pattern can thus be placed over the optical element by means of the at least one second layer in such a way that the two features complement one another to form a security feature.
  • the at least one second layer can have alternating opaque and transparent strips in such a way that the underlying optical element is visible through the transparent strips and is covered by the opaque strips. It is particularly advantageous here to vary the transparency in such a way that opaque areas are configured in register.
  • “in register” means the congruent imprint of the lines of a type area on the front and the back. It is advantageous here that, in the case of an arrangement of the transparent or opaque areas that is in register, the areas on one side are arranged congruently with the areas on the other side of the value-document substrate. In this way, optical interference is avoided, since the transparent and opaque areas on the front side and the back side of the value-document substrate are arranged in the same way or in a mirrored manner.
  • the register accuracy it is also possible for the register accuracy to relate to just one side of the value-document substrate. This means that columns that contain text and are arranged next to each other are aligned in such a way that the rows are always at the same height.
  • the value document substrate itself is produced by connecting the layers provided, ie the first layer and the at least one second layer.
  • the person skilled in the art recognizes that further work steps that are not listed are typically necessary.
  • further elements have to be introduced into the value document substrate.
  • the connection can take place in such a way that a varying transparency is also produced in the same work step with the connection. This is possible, for example, by introducing heat during the connection. It is possible here to produce the second layer from a material whose transparency can be correspondingly varied under the action of heat.
  • the varying transparency can thus be produced in a separate process step, or layers that have already been correspondingly varied are already being used.
  • a method step of introducing a varying transparency into at least one of the second layers is therefore also proposed.
  • the varying transparency can be, for example, transparent and opaque areas that are in their working together to create a pattern. It is also possible here to vary the transparency gradually, such that there is a smooth transition from a transparent area to an opaque area.
  • the at least second layer is shaped in such a way that there are essentially transparent and essentially opaque areas.
  • This has the advantage that any pattern can be created by means of the varying transparency, which arise from transparent and opaque areas.
  • Essentially transparent or essentially opaque means that the areas do not have to be made completely transparent or opaque.
  • a person skilled in the art recognizes that a certain degree of matting of the at least one second layer can already create an essentially opaque surface.
  • the layers provided are connected in such a way that the second layer at least partially covers the optical element of the first layer.
  • This has the advantage that the at least one second layer can function as a protective layer and the at least one second layer can completely or partially cover the optical element. It is thus possible to combine further elements with the proposed characteristics. For example, the second layer cannot completely cover the optical element, so that a further layer can be arranged over the optical element.
  • the second layer can be arranged as the outer layer in such a way that at least one plane or further layer with printing elements is arranged between the first layer and the second layer.
  • the second layer only being applied after this printing process or these printing processes.
  • Further processing steps such as e.g. B. further printing processes and / or lining / laminating processes follow.
  • protection of the under the second layer and a combination of security features is possible.
  • other aspects such as different transparency of the second layer in combination with the printed layers and/or the first layer, can produce special optical effects for a viewer or a test sensor system for evaluating the authenticity of the document of value for reliable evaluation of authenticity.
  • the layers provided are connected in such a way that an essentially transparent region of the second layer covers the optical element of the first layer. This has the advantage that the proposed method creates a viewing window through which the optical element can be seen.
  • the layers are connected depending on an arrangement of the optical element of the first layer and the varying transparency of the at least one second layer.
  • This has the advantage that the optical element and the different regions of the second layer can be advantageously arranged relative to one another in such a way that, for example, a viewing window for the optical element or a specific pattern results. Care must be taken to ensure that the differently transparent areas are arranged in relation to the optical element in such a way that the optical element can be read and, if necessary, a further security feature is set. If, for example, the transparent and opaque areas form a pattern which is intended to interact with the optical element, then this pattern can also be applied advantageously in relation to the optical element in such a way that the desired optical effect occurs.
  • the layers are connected in such a way that the optical element of the first layer is arranged in register with at least one essentially transparent region of the at least one second layer.
  • This has the advantage that areas of the at least one second layer complement each other with the security feature.
  • the transparent or opaque areas are thus arranged over the optical element in such a way that they result in a single security feature when viewed together.
  • the optical feature is a security feature, a metal effect, a micro-optical effect, a hologram, a micro-mirror, lenses, a color shift effect, an interference effect, a print, an offset print, a background print, an intaglio print, a Numbering, any recess, a perforation, a laser cut, a window and/or a viewing window.
  • a color shift element is a security element in which the optical surface is divided into two areas. The Colourshift area clearly changes color when tilted, while the Colourfix area retains its colour. In a set viewing angle, the Colourshift area and the Colourfix area are the same in color, in a different set viewing angle, the two areas differ.
  • the at least one second layer forms a protective layer of the value document substrate.
  • the joining takes place using a laminating adhesive, a pressure-sensitive adhesive, a thermoplastic adhesive, a thermoplastic polymer layer, a thermoplastic layer, a post-crosslinkable layer or a joining of thermoplastic layers per se.
  • a laminating adhesive a pressure-sensitive adhesive
  • thermoplastic adhesive a thermoplastic adhesive
  • thermoplastic polymer layer a thermoplastic polymer layer
  • thermoplastic layer a post-crosslinkable layer or a joining of thermoplastic layers per se.
  • a post-crosslinkable layer can, for example, be a heat-sealing lacquer which, for. B. is activated by infrared or ultraviolet radiation.
  • the first layer is covered on both sides by at least one second layer in each case.
  • This has the advantage that any number of further layers can be arranged above and below the first layer and thus also that Value document substrate is particularly protected. In this case, it is possible to arrange the opaque or transparent areas in register in each case.
  • the transparency is varied using clouding, laser irradiation, UV irradiation, extrusion, thermoplastic embossing, grinding and/or mechanical surface treatment.
  • This has the advantage that different areas can be created in the at least one second layer in a simple manner and with little technical effort.
  • varying the transparency includes designing essentially transparent areas by means of heat sealing, hot embossing and/or applying pressure. This has the advantage that the varied transparency can already be implemented while the individual layers are being connected.
  • the varying transparency is designed with sharp edges or running. This has the advantage that the transparency in the at least one second layer can be varied gradually or abruptly in such a way that the individual areas are sharply delimited or just overlap one another.
  • a lacquer is applied to at least one outer side of the value document substrate.
  • the optical feature and the at least one second layer provide a security feature in their interaction.
  • At least one layer is formed from a selection from a group of materials.
  • the group includes several materials, some of which can be combined with each other, e.g. B. biodegradable polymers, polysaccharides, cellulose, thermoplastic starch, polylactic acid, polylactide PLA, polyhydroxy fatty acids PHF, polyhydroxybutyrate PHB, polyhydroxyvalerate PHV, polymers, polyethylene PE, polyethylene terephthalate PET, polybutylene terephthalate PBT, polyethylene naphthalate PEN, polypropylene PP, biaxially oriented polypropylene, BOPP, Non-woven fabric made of high density polyethylene and polyamide.
  • the at least one layer can also be a film, paper, felt material, non-woven material and/or a combination thereof.
  • the optical element in particular a security feature, can be arranged on, by means of lamination, covering and/or gluing, for example, or in the first layer.
  • the optical element can be a micro-optical security feature, security thread and/or imprint.
  • the optical element can be arranged in a layer above the first layer but between the first and second layers. An internal security is developed.
  • the second layer can also be configured with a further optical element, with the further optical element being arranged in, preferably under, the second layer, so that the further optical element is arranged between the first and second layers.
  • the first and/or second layer can already be provided with optical elements in advance, i.e. independently of other production steps, in particular parallel thereto.
  • At least one layer is provided by means of coextrusion. This has the advantage that several materials can be combined in one coextrusion and several layers can also be provided in one work step.
  • At least one layer is provided as a cellulosic paper having a proportion X of artificial polymeric materials in a range between 0 and 100% by weight.
  • tolerance ranges are created that make it possible to specify the features according to the invention in such a way that they can also serve as a security feature. Falling below or exceeding the specified tolerance values thus ensures that unauthorized reworking of the proposed features can be detected. In this way, security features are created that can be verified with the naked eye or with the help of machines.
  • a security feature is, very generally, a feature that makes it possible to distinguish an authorized method or product from a counterfeit. The proposed tolerance values are particularly suitable for this.
  • the object is also achieved by a device defined in claim 15 for producing the multi-layer value document substrate.

Description

The present invention is aimed at a method for producing a multi-layer value document substrate, which is designed to be particularly forgery-proof. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to a device for producing the multi-layer value-document substrate and to the value-document substrate itself.

EP 2 660 067 A1 shows a document of value with a flat substrate, at least one security element on a surface of the flat substrate and with protective layers.

According to conventional methods, a large number of possibilities are known for designing documents of value, for example banknotes, in such a way that they are particularly forgery-proof and are also designed to be particularly robust. A large number of security features for banknotes are already known, such as a hologram or a watermark. Here it is necessary not only to design the security element itself in a particularly advantageous manner, but also to create possibilities for introducing security elements into the carrier substance. To this end, it is known, for example, to provide a lacquer layer in such a way that both transparent and opaque areas are formed on a document of value. According to the prior art, however, it is disadvantageous that the lacquer has to be applied in a separate work step after a banknote has been produced. In addition, the person skilled in the art always endeavors to create alternatives to known methods in order to thereby provide a type of document of value that is as unique as possible. Thus, an authenticity check of a banknote also depends on whether the design or the arrangement of the individual components is as intended by an authorized manufacturer.

In general, it is a requirement for documents of value that they are designed to be particularly robust due to the high mechanical stress. Documents of value are typically used not only by human users, but rather machines should also be able to recognize corresponding properties of banknotes. For this reason, too, it is desirable to provide a particularly robust and, in particular, abrasion-resistant bank note, since corresponding security features could also become damaged over time. In this context, care must be taken to ensure that the banknote is provided with little technical effort and that production in large numbers is therefore also possible at low cost.

For example disclosed DE 10 2011114 211 A1 a multi-layer value document substrate. The value document substrate has a first layer on which an optical element is arranged. An opaque second layer extends over the first layer and has a continuous opening in the region of the optical element.

Furthermore, from the EP 2 384 901 A1 a document of value is known which has an opaque layer on which transparent films are applied on both sides. The opaque layer includes a gap.

The document WO 2011/138007 A1 discloses a banknote with an opaque polymer substrate. The opaque polymer substrate has a motif area whose transmittance is changed by means of openings.

In document DE 11 2011100 983 T5 discloses a security document having a substrate of transparent plastic material. Opacifying layers are arranged on both sides of the transparent substrate, each of which has a recess in one area in order to form a transparent surface or window in the security document. A safety device is provided in the window. A protective coating may be applied over the security device in the window.

From the document WO 98/13211 A1 a security document with a transparent substrate is known. A security element is arranged on one side of the transparent substrate. On the side opposite the security element, an opaque layer is applied to the transparent substrate, with the opaque layer being cut out in the region of the security element.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method that makes it possible to produce a value document substrate that can accommodate optical security features in a particularly advantageous manner and is nevertheless designed to be very robust. It should be possible to provide such a value document substrate with little technical effort. It is also an object of the present invention to propose a corresponding device for producing the value-document substrate and the value-document substrate itself.

The object is achieved by means of a method for producing a value-document substrate having the features of patent claim 1. Further advantageous configurations are specified in the dependent claims.

Accordingly, a method for producing a multi-layer value document substrate is proposed, comprising providing a first and at least one second layer, the first layer having at least one optical element and the value document substrate being produced by connecting the layers provided, the at least one second layer having a has varying transparency.

A varying transparency or a varied transparency can be set in a further optional method step or can take place simultaneously with the provision of the second layer in such a way that this layer already has a varying or varied transparency.

The multi-layer document of value substrate is, for example, a bank note which is formed from a number of layers or plies. The individual layers can also be referred to as foils, which are connected in such a way that a document of value can be formed. Such a document of value typically includes further components, as they are already known. In general, the present invention is not limited to a bank note per se, but rather a value document substrate can also be used, for example, in common security documents such as e.g. B. passports, ID documents, driving licenses or chip cards are used.

For this purpose, a first and a second layer are provided, which are generally present as a flat material. At the first shift this is a carrier layer which has an optical element. An optical element can be present as a security feature that can be supported with the naked eye or machines or verified fully automatically. The at least one second layer can be designed in such a way that it provides a protective function with respect to the first layer. The document of value can comprise any number of layers, with the first layer providing the optical element and any further layers being arranged below or above this layer.

It is important to ensure that the optical element is not covered or always remains visible. Thus, different further layers can also be provided above and below the optical element, which are at least partially transparent or semi-transparent. It is also possible to partially cover the optical element, so that again only another part of the optical element remains visible. It is thus also possible to design the second layer in such a way that it interacts with the optical element and the two elements, ie the optical element and the second layer, provide a security feature in their interaction.

It is thus possible to design the transparency of the at least one second layer in such a way that it varies particularly advantageously. A variation here refers to the specific design of the transparency or the arrangement of transparent and non-transparent areas. In this case, a varying transparency designates the possibility that the at least one second layer can be made transparent, semitransparent and opaque with regard to individual areas. Thus, for example, three areas can be provided in the at least one second layer, where a first area is transparent, a second area is semi-transparent, and a third area is opaque. It is possible to change the individual degrees of transparency within the second layer in such a way that the varying transparency provides a pattern. Any pattern can thus be placed over the optical element by means of the at least one second layer in such a way that the two features complement one another to form a security feature. For example, the at least one second layer can have alternating opaque and transparent strips in such a way that the underlying optical element is visible through the transparent strips and is covered by the opaque strips. It is particularly advantageous here to vary the transparency in such a way that opaque areas are configured in register.

According to one aspect of the present invention, “in register” means the congruent imprint of the lines of a type area on the front and the back.

In this case, it is also possible for the register accuracy to relate to just one side of the value-document substrate. This means that columns that contain text and are arranged next to each other are aligned in such a way that the rows are always at the same height.

Furthermore, it is possible to design a register accuracy in such a way that features of the optical element are not covered by the second layer. The contours of the optical element can be present in the at least one second layer in such a way that transparent areas of the at least one second layer come to lie congruently on the optical element. Using these configurations or a combination thereof, it is therefore possible to create an extended security feature such that not only the optical element itself can serve as a security feature, but rather the optical element also provides a security feature in interaction with the second layer.

The value document substrate itself is produced by connecting the layers provided, ie the first layer and the at least one second layer. In this case, the person skilled in the art recognizes that further work steps that are not listed are typically necessary. Typically, further elements have to be introduced into the value document substrate. The connection can take place in such a way that a varying transparency is also produced in the same work step with the connection. This is possible, for example, by introducing heat during the connection. It is possible here to produce the second layer from a material whose transparency can be correspondingly varied under the action of heat.

The varying transparency can thus be produced in a separate process step, or layers that have already been correspondingly varied are already being used. A method step of introducing a varying transparency into at least one of the second layers is therefore also proposed. The varying transparency can be, for example, transparent and opaque areas that are in their working together to create a pattern. It is also possible here to vary the transparency gradually, such that there is a smooth transition from a transparent area to an opaque area.

According to one aspect of the present invention, the at least second layer is shaped in such a way that there are essentially transparent and essentially opaque areas. This has the advantage that any pattern can be created by means of the varying transparency, which arise from transparent and opaque areas. Essentially transparent or essentially opaque means that the areas do not have to be made completely transparent or opaque. For example, a person skilled in the art recognizes that a certain degree of matting of the at least one second layer can already create an essentially opaque surface.

According to the invention, the layers provided are connected in such a way that the second layer at least partially covers the optical element of the first layer. This has the advantage that the at least one second layer can function as a protective layer and the at least one second layer can completely or partially cover the optical element. It is thus possible to combine further elements with the proposed characteristics. For example, the second layer cannot completely cover the optical element, so that a further layer can be arranged over the optical element.

In one aspect, the second layer can be arranged as the outer layer in such a way that at least one plane or further layer with printing elements is arranged between the first layer and the second layer. In particular when producing a document of value, after the provision these are fed to the first layer in one or more printing processes, with the second layer only being applied after this printing process or these printing processes. Further processing steps, such as e.g. B. further printing processes and / or lining / laminating processes follow. In particular, with this structure, protection of the under the second layer and a combination of security features is possible. In addition, other aspects, such as different transparency of the second layer in combination with the printed layers and/or the first layer, can produce special optical effects for a viewer or a test sensor system for evaluating the authenticity of the document of value for reliable evaluation of authenticity.

According to the invention, the layers provided are connected in such a way that an essentially transparent region of the second layer covers the optical element of the first layer. This has the advantage that the proposed method creates a viewing window through which the optical element can be seen.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the layers are connected depending on an arrangement of the optical element of the first layer and the varying transparency of the at least one second layer. This has the advantage that the optical element and the different regions of the second layer can be advantageously arranged relative to one another in such a way that, for example, a viewing window for the optical element or a specific pattern results.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the layers are connected in such a way that the optical element of the first layer is arranged in register with at least one essentially transparent region of the at least one second layer. This has the advantage that areas of the at least one second layer complement each other with the security feature. The transparent or opaque areas are thus arranged over the optical element in such a way that they result in a single security feature when viewed together.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the optical feature is a security feature, a metal effect, a micro-optical effect, a hologram, a micro-mirror, lenses, a color shift effect, an interference effect, a print, an offset print, a background print, an intaglio print, a Numbering, any recess, a perforation, a laser cut, a window and/or a viewing window. This has the advantage that different security features can be used according to the present invention and in particular that the varying transparency of the second layer can interact with a large number of security features. For example, a color shift element is a security element in which the optical surface is divided into two areas. The Colourshift area clearly changes color when tilted, while the Colourfix area retains its colour. In a set viewing angle, the Colourshift area and the Colourfix area are the same in color, in a different set viewing angle, the two areas differ.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the at least one second layer forms a protective layer of the value document substrate. This has the advantage that the at least one second layer can be designed in such a way that it is on the outside with respect to the substrate of value document provided and can also be designed so robustly that the optical element is particularly protected against abrasion and wear.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the joining takes place using a laminating adhesive, a pressure-sensitive adhesive, a thermoplastic adhesive, a thermoplastic polymer layer, a thermoplastic layer, a post-crosslinkable layer or a joining of thermoplastic layers per se. This has the advantage that known connection methods can continue to be used according to the invention and advantageous materials can be used. Thus, the layers provided can already be thermoplastic and are thus inseparably connected to one another under the action of heat. A post-crosslinkable layer can, for example, be a heat-sealing lacquer which, for. B. is activated by infrared or ultraviolet radiation.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the first layer is covered on both sides by at least one second layer in each case. This has the advantage that any number of further layers can be arranged above and below the first layer and thus also that Value document substrate is particularly protected. In this case, it is possible to arrange the opaque or transparent areas in register in each case.

According to the invention, the transparency is varied using clouding, laser irradiation, UV irradiation, extrusion, thermoplastic embossing, grinding and/or mechanical surface treatment. This has the advantage that different areas can be created in the at least one second layer in a simple manner and with little technical effort. In particular, it is possible here to be able to set the transparency of the second layer precisely. For example, particularly fine areas can be created by means of a laser.

According to an alternative of the invention, varying the transparency includes designing essentially transparent areas by means of heat sealing, hot embossing and/or applying pressure. This has the advantage that the varied transparency can already be implemented while the individual layers are being connected.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the varying transparency is designed with sharp edges or running. This has the advantage that the transparency in the at least one second layer can be varied gradually or abruptly in such a way that the individual areas are sharply delimited or just overlap one another.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, a lacquer is applied to at least one outer side of the value document substrate. This has the advantage that an additional protective layer is created can, which interacts, for example, with the transparent and opaque areas of the at least one second layer.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, the optical feature and the at least one second layer provide a security feature in their interaction. This has the advantage that, particularly in the case of an arrangement that is in register, the optical element can interact with the transparent or opaque areas in such a way that a new pattern is created when viewed together, which in turn can act as a security feature.

According to another aspect of the present invention, at least one layer is formed from a selection from a group of materials. The group includes several materials, some of which can be combined with each other, e.g. B. biodegradable polymers, polysaccharides, cellulose, thermoplastic starch, polylactic acid, polylactide PLA, polyhydroxy fatty acids PHF, polyhydroxybutyrate PHB, polyhydroxyvalerate PHV, polymers, polyethylene PE, polyethylene terephthalate PET, polybutylene terephthalate PBT, polyethylene naphthalate PEN, polypropylene PP, biaxially oriented polypropylene, BOPP, Non-woven fabric made of high density polyethylene and polyamide. This has the advantage that the features according to the invention can be brought about with these materials and, for example, the individual materials can also be mixed. The at least one layer can also be a film, paper, felt material, non-woven material and/or a combination thereof. The optical element, in particular a security feature, can be arranged on, by means of lamination, covering and/or gluing, for example, or in the first layer. For example, the optical element can be a micro-optical security feature, security thread and/or imprint. Also the optical element can be arranged in a layer above the first layer but between the first and second layers. An internal security is developed. The second layer can also be configured with a further optical element, with the further optical element being arranged in, preferably under, the second layer, so that the further optical element is arranged between the first and second layers.

The first and/or second layer can already be provided with optical elements in advance, i.e. independently of other production steps, in particular parallel thereto.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, at least one layer is provided by means of coextrusion. This has the advantage that several materials can be combined in one coextrusion and several layers can also be provided in one work step.

According to a further aspect of the present invention, at least one layer is provided as a cellulosic paper having a proportion X of artificial polymeric materials in a range between 0 and 100% by weight. This has the advantage that polymer material can be mixed with cellulose in a particularly advantageous manner in order to provide a robust value document substrate.

  • Innenliegender Banknotendruck (z.B. Stich, Untergrund, Siebdruck): cd/md +/-1,5 mm
  • LEAD/Patch: cd/md +/-1,5 mm
  • Sicherheitsfaden: Wobbelbereich +/- 6,0 mm (auf Fadenmitte); reg. Faden: md +/- 1,5 mm
  • LaserCut/ColorCut: cd/md +/- 1,5 mm
According to the invention, a tolerance range of, for example, md/cd +/- 1.5 mm is specified, regardless of the method (register lamination, register printing, register sealing), as far as sharp-edged transitions are concerned. A "fading"/gradient should theoretically take this +/-1.5 mm and additionally the tolerance of the internal feature into account:
Typical maximum tolerances for security features:
  • Watermark (e.g. for internal water mask): +/- 3.0 mm
  • Internal banknote printing (e.g. engraving, background, screen printing): cd/md +/-1.5 mm
  • LEAD/Patch: cd/md +/-1.5mm
  • Security thread: Wobble range +/- 6.0 mm (at the middle of the thread); reg. Thread: md +/- 1.5mm
  • LaserCut/ColorCut: cd/md +/- 1.5mm

In this way, tolerance ranges are created that make it possible to specify the features according to the invention in such a way that they can also serve as a security feature. Falling below or exceeding the specified tolerance values thus ensures that unauthorized reworking of the proposed features can be detected. In this way, security features are created that can be verified with the naked eye or with the help of machines. A security feature is, very generally, a feature that makes it possible to distinguish an authorized method or product from a counterfeit. The proposed tolerance values are particularly suitable for this.

The object is also achieved by a device defined in claim 15 for producing the multi-layer value document substrate.

The object is also achieved by a multi-layer value document substrate defined in claim 16 .

According to the invention, it is particularly advantageous that the method steps are suitable for creating structural features of a value document substrate. The proposed method steps can thus also be simulated as structural features of the value document substrate. Furthermore, the proposed method is suitable for operating the proposed device and the device is therefore suitable for carrying out the proposed method.

1 shows the different layers 1, 2, 3, wherein different optical elements are provided. As in the present 1 As shown, the transparent areas above and below the optical elements are respectively aligned in register with those optical elements. A viewing window is thus created which makes it possible to see the optical element through the protective layers. The optical element is available as a lead, patch, effect print and window thread (FeFa).

2 shows different layer models, with the first, i.e. the top image, showing matting over the protective layer. Thus, for example, a variation in the transparency of the at least one second layer 2, 3 can be created using clear lacquer or matt lacquer. As per the second figure 2 is shown, thermal transparency can also be produced by applying heat under pressure. The third figure shows a thermal deformation. Here, a surface transparency takes place via heat input and pressure. According to Figure 4 the 2 transparentization takes place via a coating. The matting can e.g. B. via a thermoplastic foil stamping. Furthermore, a clear lacquer with a refractive index similar to that of the other materials used in layers 2, 3 can be used. According to the fifth figure 2 transparency takes place over the coating, and further double matting occurs. This is done by means of the surface structure and the matt varnish. According to the sixth figure 2 matting is carried out using a laser or embossing. A UV varnish is also used.

Fig. 3 zeigt einen Folienaufbau für eine Heißlaminierung. 3 shows a film structure for hot lamination. Here, the individual layers are shown, which are stacked and laminated together. The sequence of layers laminated together is shown in the figure below. Furthermore, the value document substrate provided is varied in terms of transparency in such a way that a transparent area is created, a matt or opaque area is created, and running areas are created. The running surfaces form a running, semi-transparent surface area, for example, as shown, by a coating whose thickness varies.

Fig. 4 zeigt den Schichtenaufbau nach einer Kaschierapplikation. 4 shows the layer structure after a lamination application. For this purpose, the optical element, which is covered by a transparent area, is entered in particular on the left-hand side.

Fig. 5 zeigt das Foliendesign in einer Aufsicht. Durch die transparenten Bereiche sind darunterliegende optische Merkmale erkennbar. figure 5 shows the foil design in a top view. In particular shows figure 5 different areas, each with different transparency. This is referred to here as varying or varied transparency. As in 4 shown, a transparent area is entered on the left and a gradient area is entered on the right. The optical features underneath can be seen through the transparent areas.

Foil/paper composite banknotes are state of the art. In several applications and patents, internal printing (e.g. underground, offset, steel printing, fluo, OVMI) as well as internal printing Security (LEAD, hologram, patch, security thread, window, laser feature) mentioned. The preservation of the tactility of steel pressure embossing after lamination or subsequent embossing is also described above.

The present invention relates in particular to products in which the finished printed bank note receives a protective coating or protective lamination instead of a protective coating.

In the description of such product structures, an advantageous feature of the protective film has so far not been taken into account. Depending on the design to be overprinted, you can work with a protective coating with a matt or glossy, transparent, semi-transparent or opaque coating system on a surface level, but this is not easily possible when producing and applying protective films. Typical printing or foil elements, which would normally require a high level of transparency of the laminated protective foil, are e.g. OVMI, OVI, Iriodin, LEAD, patch or window threads and, if necessary, laser features and windows.
