  • Gasoline also known as petrol outside of North America, is a transparent, petroleum-derived liquid that is used primarily as a fuel in internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives.
  • Octane number is measured relative to a mixture of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (an isomer of octane) and n-heptane.
  • the second one has an octane number of 0, while iso-octane (2,2,4-trimethyl pentane) is 100.
  • Linear combinations of these two components are used to measure the octane number of a particular fuel.
  • a 90%/10% blend of isooctane/n-heptane has an octane value of 90. Any fuel knocking at the same compression ratio as this mixture is said to have an octane number of 90.

Claims (10)

  1. Composition d'essence exempte de métal comprenant au moins un carburant essence et de 0,05 à 1 % en poids d'un additif remonteur d'octane constitué d'au moins un composé de formule I ci-dessous :

    R1 et R2, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, étant choisis dans le groupe constitué par : un alkyle en C1 à C12 linéaire ou ramifié, un cycloalkyle en C4 à C12 ou un aryle,
    R3 étant H ou un groupe -C(=O)R4, R4 étant un alkyle en C1 à C4 linéaire ou ramifié ou un cycloalkyle en C5 à C6,
    et au moins un composé choisi parmi des esters d'acides carboxyliques en C1 à C6 et/ou une cétone, préférablement l'acétate d'éthyle,
    le rapport molaire de composé de formule I/esters d'acides carboxyliques en C1 à C6 et/ou cétone étant de 50 : 50 à 95 : 5.
  2. Composition d'essence selon la revendication 1, R1 et R2, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, étant choisis dans le groupe constitué par : méthyle, éthyle, isopropyle, n-propyle, isobutyle, n-butyle, tert-butyle, n-pentyle, cyclopentyle, cyclohexyle ou phényle.
  3. Composition d'essence selon la revendication 1 ou 2, R3 étant H ou un groupe -C(=O)R4, R4 étant méthyle, éthyle, isopropyle, n-propyle, isobutyle, n-butyle ou tert-butyle.
  4. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, R1 et R2 étant méthyle et R3 étant H.
  5. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, R1 étant méthyle, R2 étant isobutyle et R3 étant H.
  6. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, R1 étant méthyle, R2 étant phényle et R3 étant H.
  7. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, R1 et R2 étant méthyle et R3 étant un groupe -C(=O)R4, R4 étant méthyle.
  8. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, l'additif remonteur d'octane comprenant un mélange de deux composés de formule I ou plus.
  9. Composition d'essence selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, l'additif remonteur d'octane étant présent en une quantité de 0,1 à 1,0 %, préférablement de 0,2 à 1 % et encore plus préférablement de 0,2 à 0,8 % en poids du poids total de la composition d'essence.
  10. Utilisation de 0,05 à 1 % en poids d'une composition constituée d'au moins un composé de formule I ci-dessous :

    R1 et R2, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, étant choisis dans le groupe constitué par : un alkyle en C1 à C12 linéaire ou ramifié, un cycloalkyle en C4 à C12 ou un aryle,
    R3 étant H ou un groupe -C(=O)R4, R4 étant un alkyle linéaire ou ramifié ou un cycloalkyle,
    et d'au moins un composé choisi parmi des esters d'acides carboxyliques en C1 à C6 et/ou une cétone, préférablement l'acétate d'éthyle,
    le rapport molaire de composé de formule I/esters d'acides carboxyliques en C1 à C6 et/ou cétone étant de 50 : 50 à 95 : 5, pour remonter l'indice d'octane d'une composition d'essence.
