Definitions

  • the invention relates to a book block for a book-like document, a book-like document, in particular a value and / or security document, and a method for producing a book block and a book-like document.
  • the book block consists of several data pages. These data pages are sewn to a carrier which extends along a fold edge and on both sides of the fold edge in a direction transverse to the fold edge along the data page.
  • This carrier is made of a plastic.
  • a book-like document which comprises a book cover with a book block.
  • the book block consists of several data pages and a header that are sewn together.
  • the cover is glued to the book cover.
  • a carrier is provided between the book cover and the header, which is also sewn to the data pages. This carrier serves to increase the mechanical stability, in particular against tearing out of the seam, and can accommodate a data carrier as a security feature.
  • the book cover is made rigid by a book cover insert. If no book cover insert is provided, this book cover itself is made stiff in order to securely hold the book block.
  • a book-like document which comprises a book cover.
  • the data pages and a personalization data page are connected with a seam.
  • a method for book binding is also known.
  • a first plastic strip has spaced-apart pegs which are passed through a second strip with bores around the latter relative to the second Bend and fasten strips. Several layers of paper are clamped between the first and second strips.
  • book-like documents in particular passport books, are known which have a book cover which is flexible and forms a so-called soft cover.
  • Such book-like documents usually show a bad unlocking behavior, which means that the book-like document does not close completely after a single opening, but a book cover or one half of the book cover stands up. This unlocking behavior deteriorates in particular if the fold area of the book cover has been overstretched.
  • the invention has for its object to propose a book block, a book-like document with a book block and a method for producing a book block and a book-like document, whereby the unlocking behavior is improved.

  • the invention allows the carrier, which is preferably provided as a film web, to be shaped into a folded arrangement, as a result of which this forms at least one plastic film a kind of clamp for the data pages.
  • This carrier is thermoelastic at room temperature, which means that the book block can be opened without the carrier breaking or tearing.
  • a preferred embodiment of the method provides that after the carrier and the data sides have been brought together, the carrier is heated to at least a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic polymer of the carrier and then the carrier and the data side are transferred into a folded arrangement and are held in the folded arrangement until the carrier has cooled to at least a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic polymer of the carrier. This already facilitates the transfer of the carrier into the folded arrangement.

  • the book block can already be provided in a folded arrangement for incorporation in a book-like document. All that is required is to connect the cover to the book cover.
  • the carrier consists of at least two plastic films which are connected to one another with a heat-activatable adhesive. This can further improve the unlocking behavior.
