Description

Domaine de l'inventionField of the invention

The invention relates to a device for adjusting the orientation of screw crowns or screw-down crowns for timepieces and more particularly for such crowns comprising a pattern or a logo on their end face and in which the pattern can be oriented as desired.

Arrière-plan de l'inventionBackground of the invention

Screw-down crowns are commonly used to equip watches with the aim of improving their watertightness at their winding or control stem. This type of crown has the particularity of being able to assume an unscrewed position in which the watch can be wound, set the time, etc. and a screwed position in which the crown is screwed and locked on a tube driven or screwed into the middle part of the watch case in order to compress a sealing gasket, thus improving the sealing of the watch. The screwed position is therefore that which corresponds to the normal position when the watch is worn and which is more or less always the same except for wear of the sealing gasket.

The manufacture and assembly of these crowns screwed onto watch cases are well known. However, the methods for mounting these crowns are ill-suited to screw-down crowns bearing on their end face an inscription or a pattern, for example a logo, a trademark or a similar sign. Indeed, the known mounting methods generally do not allow the crown to be brought into a determined orientation with respect to the case after they have been screwed down, which is detrimental to the aesthetics of the case when an inscription is affixed to the face of the case. end of the crown. This situation is of course unacceptable when these crowns equip luxury and high-quality products.

A solution making it possible to adjust, in a determined position or orientation, a crown after screwing the latter onto the tube has already been proposed in the document EP 1 124 167 A1 . According to this document, a shape memory alloy ring is placed either between the middle part and the tube, or between the crown and the tube. By playing on the deformation of the ring, in particular by reducing its diameter by subjecting the watch to determined temperatures, a temporary clearance between the middle part and the tube respectively between the crown and the tube can be created, a clearance which allows an angular adjustment of the crown in its screwed down position. A disadvantage of this solution lies in the fact that shape memory alloys are not commonly available in the form of bars of small dimensions, so that it is difficult and expensive to machine the rings in question in the small dimensions required. for the applications concerned. Furthermore, this process is only intended for the initial fitting of the crown by the watch manufacturer, but not for subsequent operations to adjust the orientation of the crown, which could damage other parts of the watch. the watch, sensitive to temperature variations.

The document EP1701225 describes an adjustable screwed crown comprising a head secured to a winding stem and a cap on which an inscription appears, the head and the cap being secured in rotation by means of frustoconical surfaces held in mutual contact by means of an elastic element. The angular position of the cover is adjusted by withdrawing the latter axially with respect to the middle part along the longitudinal axis of the crown. A major drawback of this solution is that the rotational solidarity of the cover with respect to the head is ensured only by the friction forces alone between the frustoconical surfaces, which does not prove to be sufficiently reliable over the service life. of a watch, and in particular when the compressive forces exerted by the elastic element gradually fade. Furthermore, another drawback is not being able to guarantee that the same angular position can be obtained in such a way precise, the angular position being able to be determined only by successive approximations.

The document EP1411401 describes a crown comprising an orientable substrate on its outer upper face, the substrate being provided with an inscription and able to be disengaged in rotation from the head of the crown when a pressure is exerted going against the braking means. The disadvantage of this solution is that it is not very robust with respect to shocks, the latter also being able to exert a pressure force on the substrate and therefore to reorient the substrate inadvertently relative to the body of the crown; moreover, when gripping the crown, it is necessary to take numerous precautions so as not to involve any pressure force towards the caseband if one wishes to avoid untimely rotation of the substrate, which makes its use inconvenient.

Résumé de l'inventionSummary of the invention

The object of the invention is in particular to overcome the various drawbacks of these known techniques.

More specifically, an object of the invention is to provide a device for orienting a screw-down crown of simple and economical construction, comprising a pattern such as a logo or a mark and in which the position of the logo or the mark affixed to the end face of the crown can easily be adjusted in a determined position or orientation.
The invention also aims to provide a more reliable adjustable screw-down crown than those proposed hitherto.

These objectives, as well as others which will appear more clearly subsequently, are achieved according to the invention with the aid of an adjustable screwed crown comprising a cap secured to a tube and receiving a distinctive sign, a fixed body mounted in a watch case and intended to receiving the tube, and means for adjusting the angular orientation of the cover relative to the middle part.

Thanks to these characteristics, the orientation of the pattern carried by the cover can be easily adjusted in a determined and reproducible angular position in a durable manner relative to the middle part, while at the same time preventing any accidental handling error on the part of the user.

In addition, this new construction has the advantage of being invisible to the user from outside the crown, the proposed adjustment device being covered and hidden by the cover. The seal 7 is arranged in an annular housing 110 made in the skirt 11 of the cover 1 which extends along the body 2 and is held in place by means of a retaining ring 71.

The means for adjusting the angular orientation of the cover 1 comprise a ring 4 arranged to be screwed onto the tube 3, the ring 4 comprising first indexing means arranged to cooperate with second indexing means formed in the body 2 On the illustration of the figure 1 , the tube 3 comprises an external thread 32 arranged to cooperate with a threaded section 40 of the ring 4 to screw and/or unscrew the crown. Advantageously, the ring 4 is positioned and then driven into the body 2 through the first and second indexing means.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the first and second indexing means comprise grooves or teeth configured to engage axially one in the other in order to be able to position the cover 1 correctly. Preferably, the ring 4 is driven into the body 2 once screwed onto the tube 3 supporting the cover 1.

On the illustration of the figure 1 , the central part of the crown is connected to a winding stem (not shown) of the timepiece movement via the tapped blind hole 50 provided in the lower part 51 of a piston 5, housed in an axial cavity 30 inside the tube 3. The piston 5 slides against a spring 6 in abutment on an internal surface of the cover 1, and in particular makes it possible to bring out the cover 1 from the case middle when the crown is unscrewed to make an adjustment. Since the piston 5 is intended to be connected to the winding stem, its axial position relative to the caseband is indexed according to typically three discrete values, a first corresponding for example to the winding of the barrel, another to the time adjustment and a third to the adjustment. of the date.

According to the invention, the cover 1 is assembled to the tube 2 so that they are usually integral in rotation and axially with one another, this assembly is made in such a way as to be detachable or reversible.

The cover 1 comprises an axial skirt 11 inside which is formed an annular groove 12 arranged to receive the end of the body 2 fixed to the middle part 100, but also the tube 3, the ring 4 being placed between the tube 3 and the body 2. The cover 1 comprises an upper surface on which is affixed a distinctive sign L such as a logo or a mark visible from the outside of the crown - one can guess for example in the figures the Omega logo.

According to the preferred embodiment illustrated, the first means and second indexing means are interposed between the internal surface 200 of the body 2, and the external surface 400 of the ring 40, and comprise splines 201 and 401 arranged respectively on the surface inside the body 2 and the outer surface 400 of the ring 40. According to the illustrated embodiment, the splines cooperate axially in the direction of the axis of rotation A-A, to perform the operation of adjusting the orientation of the crown vs.

THE figures 2a and 2b illustrate a preferred embodiment of the indexing means according to the invention. According to the preferred embodiment described, the indexing means consist of the collaboration of splines 201, 401 or teeth pressed mutually against each other. One can also observe the grooves 201 and 401 on the exploded view at the picture 3 .

Such an arrangement has the advantage of reducing the number of parts to be used for adjusting the angular orientation of the crown 1 proposed.

Bien entendu, les cannelures 201 pourraient être remplacées par des dentures, des rainures ou tout autre élément de forme susceptible de guider en translation et bloquer en rotation la bague 4 sur le corps 2.As represented at figures 2a and 2b , the body 2 comprises an internal shoulder 20, provided in the lower part of the body 2, forming an abutment for the ring 4 when it is driven into the body 2. The body 2 also comprises, above and in the immediate vicinity of this internal shoulder 20, grooves 201 extending over part of the height of the body 2. Of course, the grooves 201 could be replaced by teeth, grooves or any other shaped element capable of guiding in translation and blocking in rotation ring 4 on body 2.

The tube 3 comprises a stop surface 31, formed in its upper part, to come into abutment against the ring 4 when the crown is screwed down. Advantageously, the stop surface 31 of the tube 3 covers the ring 4 and is flush with the upper part of the body 2, the ring 4 then being housed between the body 2 and the tube 3. Such an arrangement of the crown makes it possible to limit its dimensions as well as the parts necessary for its construction.

The control crown C according to the invention is assembled on the caseband of a watch as follows:
  • the cover 1 is mounted on the tube 3, by driving it out or screwing it in for example,
  • the body 2 is mounted in the caseband 100, by driving in, or screwing and/or gluing,
  • a seal 7 is optionally placed inside the cover 1, in the skirt 11, between the body 2 and the cover 1,
  • the ring 4 is screwed fully onto the tube 3 so as to form a single assembly,
  • the orientation of the distinctive sign L is chosen by means of the grooves 201,401, and the assembly obtained in the previous step is driven into the body 2, by causing the grooves 401 of the ring 4 to slide axially between the grooves 201 of the body 2 , until the ring 4 is in abutment against the internal shoulder 20 of the body 2.

Thus, the screwed crown C will keep its orientation, and after each screwing and/or unscrewing the distinctive sign will be correctly oriented.

Thanks to these various aspects of the invention, there is available an adjustable screwed crown of simple design making it possible to index the angular position of the crown while having a relatively small number of parts for its construction.

Of course, the present invention is not limited to the example illustrated and is susceptible to various variants and modifications which will become apparent to those skilled in the art. It will be understood that the invention is also applicable for example for a valve, manual or automatic, as well as a pusher, a corrector or even an adjustable bottom without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
