Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a water-soluble packaging which comprises a product, preferably a detergent product or a dishwashing detergent product, and a water-soluble casing.
- WO 2014/016144 A1 a method for producing a water-soluble package with a water-soluble casing and a detergent or dishwashing detergent product (product) arranged therein is known.
- a first film web for providing a base film and a second film web for providing a cover film are fed in.
- a cavity is molded into the base film and filled with the product from above. Then the filled cavity is closed or sealed with the cover film.
- the cover can be printed in several printing steps.
- a print image of high quality and coverage can be achieved using the flexographic printing process.
- the film mentioned there is printed using a flexographic printing process before the actual detergent portion unit is created.
- a roller printing unit is required, which is provided before the cavity is formed.
- the exact feeding of the printed film web or the base film to the downstream processing steps is a major challenge.
- a print image of moderate quality or imprecise positioning of the print image should be avoided because a user or customer could draw negative conclusions about the quality and properties of the actual product.
- a digital printer for example in the form of an inkjet printer, for the purpose of precise positioning. Difficulties also arise here, in particular, in the film guide and in multi-color printing. Printing multiple colors is usually done with multiple print heads that print the colors one after the other. The leadership of the usually flexible film webs both within the arrangement of the Print heads as well as in relation to the product is difficult and expensive.
- a method for precisely positioned printing of a film is known, as is also used primarily as a packaging film, for example in the form of a bag. The method described there is characterized by a two-stage printing of the film. In a second step, the film, which was pre-printed in a first step, is provided with a precisely positioned second printing using a print head. The position of the secondary printing is regulated here via a very precise control of the film movement in the printing process.
- the invention is based on the object of providing a method that is easy to carry out for producing a water-soluble packaging that comprises a product and a printed cover, whereby the method should be able to produce packaging that is individually printed with regard to print image quality and print image positioning meet the requirements.
- a first print is generated by a roller printing unit and in a second printing step a second print is generated by a digital printer.
- the first print takes place on a film side of the base film or the cover film that faces the product in the finished packaging.
- the film material for the first print acts as a protective layer for external influences such as abrasion, etc.
- the second printing takes place on a film side of the base film or the cover film, which faces away from the product in the finished packaging.
- the first print can be applied to the film side of the cover film facing the product and the second print can be applied to the film side of the cover film facing away from the product. This also applies accordingly to the base film.
- the first print is applied to the film side of the base film facing the product, while the second print is applied to the cover film, specifically on the side of the film facing the product.
- first film web and the base film are used synonymously with regard to the printing. This also applies analogously to the second film web and the cover film.
- the first print is preferably applied using the flexographic printing process.
- colored background areas can preferably be colored covering and qualitative can be applied to the water-soluble film material in high quality with sufficient contrast to the product.
- comparatively large-area warning symbols can also be printed additionally or alternatively.
- lower requirements are placed on the first print than on the second print.
- an attempt is made to position the product as precisely as possible.
- the digital printer used here which is preferably designed in the form of an inkjet printer, basically enables very good positioning of the second print.
- the invention has recognized that only certain parts, areas or segments of the printed image on the envelope require precise positioning in relation to the product or in relation to certain reference points such as a central position above the cavity.
- the exact positioning of the selected printed image elements then contributes to a positive appearance that the packaging leaves behind for the customer or user.
- An imprecise positioning of the other printed image elements in relation to the product is of subordinate importance or has little or no influence on the subjective impression of the customer or user.
- the print image elements whose positioning is important are applied by the second print, while all other print image elements can be applied via the first print.
- the second print is applied in relation to the first print.
- the first print is thus supplemented by a precisely positioned second print.
- the print result a combination of first print and second print, is of high quality.
- the product can comprise a powder, granules or a tablet.
- the product can alternatively or additionally comprise a liquid or a gel.
- the cavity can have one or more chambers for receiving different partial products.
- Part of the first print can be applied offline. This means that this part of the first print has already been applied to the corresponding film before the first film web is fed in and / or before the second film web is fed in. These are therefore pre-printed film webs that can be provided, for example, as rolls or wraps for the method described here.
- the printing in the offline process is temporally decoupled from the other process steps according to the invention.
- the printing of this first part of the first print can also be spatially decoupled.
- At least one (different) part of the first print can be applied in-line. If, for example, the first film web is provided with this part of the first print in the inline process, then the passage through the roller printing unit involves other processing steps Procedure coupled in time and space. For example, the first print is applied after the first film web has been fed in. The first film web thus runs through the roller printing unit and is then fed to the further processing steps. Alternatively or additionally, the second film web can also run through a roller printing unit that is temporally and spatially coupled with the other processing stations of the method.
- the second print is preferably a monochrome print. If the print image is to be multicolored, different colors are preferably applied in the first printing step. The color used in the second print is preferably different from the colors used in the first print.
- the print image on the cover consists of the first print and the second print. First print and second print can (partially) overlap or complement each other. They can also be designed independently of one another.
- the cover film can be provided with the second print immediately before it is placed on the cavity.
- the time between application of the second print and application is less than 20 seconds.
- the time interval between the application of the second print and the application of the cover film to the cavity is preferably 1 to 5 or 2 to 4 seconds.
- the time between the application of the second print and the application can be converted into a spatial distance between the place of application of the second print and the place of application. Due to the short time, the distance is then comparatively small. For example, at a running speed of 10 m / min, a spatial distance of 50 cm results at a time interval of 3 seconds. Interferences or tolerances that can affect the printed cover sheet within this 50 cm are comparatively small and easy to handle.
- the second print can be applied to the cover film after it has been placed on the cavity and before the cavity is sealed.
- a time of 1 to 5 seconds preferably elapses between the application of the second print and the next processing step (here sealing). This time should be sufficient for the second print to dry sufficiently that the further processing steps do not lead to any loss of quality of the second print.
- the phase in the process is preferably used in which the deformed base film for forming the cavity is still held in a tensioned position by appropriate means, preferably by a molding vacuum. Only after this phase, due to the elimination of the mold vacuum and the associated relaxation of the base film, can the cover film and / or base film become deformed (in particular bulging of the cover film).
- a special drying unit can be connected after the first print and / or after the second print, which accelerates the drying process.
- Both a Air blowers with air temperatures from room temperature to 130 ° C, particularly preferably 50-120 ° C, an infrared heater or a combination thereof can be used.
- the film web provided with the first print is preferably positioned in relation to the product or corresponding reference points only in the longitudinal direction of the film web.
- a correction of the positioning transversely to this can generally be dispensed with due to the lower requirements, since the existing positioning, which is necessary for the manufacture of the product, is sufficient.
- the tolerance range can be +/- 2mm or preferably +/- 1mm here.
- An alignment of the second print is useful in the longitudinal direction and transverse direction of the film web. Such an alignment can, however, be implemented in a simple manner via the digital printer by digitally or software-assisted shifting of the second print.
- the second print preferably comprises characters so that it can be used to print individual letters, words, word groups or sentences on the cover.
- the minimum font size of these characters is 4 points (according to DIN 16507-1).
- the minimum font size is preferably 6 points.
- fonts in different languages can be applied in the second printing step. It is thus possible to provide water-soluble packaging for different countries with different languages in a simple manner. While certain parts of the print image are the same for all countries (such as a background color or warning symbols), country-specific information etc. are applied to the envelope in the form of a second print. With minimal changeover times, you can switch from the production of packaging for a first country to the production of packaging for a second country, in which the digital printer responsible only for printing the fonts is controlled accordingly. It is not necessary to have different, pre-printed, country-specific film strips available.
- a ratio of printing ink applied in the first printing step and printing ink applied in the second printing step can be greater than 2: 1, preferably greater than 3: 1 or even greater than 10: 1.
- the respective printed areas can also be inserted here Ratio can be set so that the ratio of the printed area of the first print to the printed area of the second print can be greater than 2: 1, 3: 1 or 10: 1.
- the feed of the first film web and the feed of the second film web are preferably carried out in a continuous process without intermediate pauses.
- the running speed of the first film web and / or second film web can be up to 30 m / min. In one embodiment, the running speed is between 5 and 25 m / min.
- a print head of the digital printer can be stationary in the direction of travel of the film web or the film that is printed by it.
- the printer then only applies one print line per unit of time at right angles to the running direction, which complement each other with other parallel print lines, taking into account the running speed of the film, to form a two-dimensional second print.
- the resolution of the digital printer can be over 200 dpi (dots per inch).
- the digital printer preferably has a resolution of 300 dpi, 400 dpi or more.
- the resolution in the longitudinal direction of the film web and the resolution across it can be the same (400 x 400 dpi) or different in size.
- the printing speed of the digital printer should at least correspond to the running speed of the film web to be printed. At a running speed of 10 m / min and a resolution of 400 dpi in the longitudinal direction of the film web, the result is a minimum printing frequency of approx. 2.6 kHz.
- the preferred printing frequency is greater than or equal to 3 kHz.
- FIG. 1 shows schematically various processing stations that are run through in the method according to the invention. With the method a package 1 is produced, which in isolated form in Figure 1 can be seen on the far right. How this packaging 1 is constructed will become clear from the description of its manufacture which follows.
- a first film web 10 is unwound from a roll or winding 11 and runs in the direction of an arrow 12 into a roller printing unit 13.
- the first film web 10 is provided with an initial print using the flexographic printing process.
- the first film web 10 is deflected by a deflection roller 14 so that it is now in the horizontal direction, in the illustration of FIG Figure 1 , is moved continuously from left to right according to arrow 15.
- drive means and means for equalizing the tension in the first film web 10 are not shown.
- a non-preprinted Foil webs 12 used which is wound on the roll 11.
- it could also be a pre-printed film web 12.
- the roller printing unit 13 could be dispensed with.
- a conveyor belt 16 moves parallel to the film web 10, the direction of which is shown by the arrow 17.
- the treadmill 16 has a multiplicity of depressions or deep-drawn molds 18 arranged one behind the other, which are approximately trapezoidal in section.
- the first film web serves to provide a base film 19 that is fed to a first processing station or forming station 20.
- the base film 19 is deep-drawn so that individual cavities 21 are created.
- a product 23 is filled into the respective cavity 21. It can, for example, be a liquid product or a solid. The solid can also be present in compressed form as a tablet.
- a product feed direction 33 here extends vertically downward from above.
- the filled cavities 21 then pass a deflection roller 24 by which a second film web 25 fed in from above is deflected in a direction parallel to the running direction 17 of the conveyor belt 16.
- the second film strip 25 is unwound from a roll 26.
- drive means etc. for the second film web 25 are not shown.
- the second film web 25 serves to provide a cover film 27, which is placed on the filled cavity 21 by the deflection roller 24.
- a digital printer 28 in the form of an inkjet printer applies a second print to the cover film 27.
- the first print is also possible for the first print to be applied to the cover sheet 27 in a manner comparable to the structure 13, the digital printer 28 being in the Figure 1 position shown or in the position according to the arrow designated 34 can be located.
- a sealing station 29 is provided through which the cavities 21 filled with the product 23 are sealed.
- the cover film 27 is welded to the base film 19.
- a cutting device 30 separates the composite of cover film and base film 19 with the product 23 arranged in between to form individual packagings 1. These are then released from the deep-drawing molds 18 and can now be packed in folding boxes or cardboard boxes.
- the film web 10 and the second film web 25 are continuously unwound from the respective rollers 11, 26.
- the conveyor belt 16 also runs continuously at the same speed as the film webs 10, 25.
- the double arrows 32 are intended to indicate that the respective processing stations or devices 20, 42, 29, 30 or parts thereof are temporarily moved in parallel over a certain period of time at the same speed can to then after to be reset after processing.
- the cutting device 30 is carried along in accordance with the running speed of the conveyor belt 16 until the required separation of the packaging has been completed. The cutting device or a cutting knife of the cutting device is then returned again in order to separate the following packages.
- the digital printer 28 or its print head is stationary as seen in the running direction 17 of the conveyor belt 16.
- the digital printer 28 and the running speed of the treadmill 16 or the cover sheet 27 are coordinated with one another in such a way that a two-dimensional second print is produced, the printer only printing a print line transversely to the running direction 17 of the treadmill 16.
- the second print is applied by the digital printer 28 after the cover film has been placed on the cavity 21.
- the cover sheet 27 it is possible for the cover sheet 27 to be printed before it is applied. This alternative printing is indicated by the arrow 34 in Figure 1 be indicated.
- the second pressure would be applied before the deflection roller 24, viewed in the direction 35 of the second film web 25.
- the digital printer 28 is arranged directly in front of the sealing station 29, it is possible to precisely align the digital printer 28 or its print head with respect to the packaging that has already been almost completely produced. For example, it is possible to position the second print exactly in the center of the product 1 identified by the reference number 31.
- the roller printing unit 13 By means of the roller printing unit 13, rather large-area printing components are applied in which precise positioning with respect to the cavity or the product located therein is not important.
