  • the replacement assistance device according to the invention can be used in particular in the railway field and more particularly, makes it possible to facilitate the replacement of connectors which can be used to connect or control equipment on board a railway vehicle.
  • Each connector is for example a socket type connector configured to connect a plurality of cables to on-board equipment such as an electrical relay.
  • such a connector comprises an input interface defining a plurality of connection members with the electrical cables, and an output interface intended to cooperate with a complementary connection interface of the corresponding on-board equipment.

  • the output interface 22 has for example a plurality of contact cavities 27 arranged on the connector 16C on the side opposite that of the flat surface 26 in a predetermined order.
  • the contact cavities 27 are for example substantially similar to each other and are among the contact members 24.
  • Each contact cavity 27 is for example arranged opposite a connection member 24 and is electrically connected to it by internal connection links of the connector 16C.
  • Each contact cavity 27 is capable of receiving a pin from the connection surface of the on-board equipment to connect this pin to the electrical cable connected to the connection member 24 corresponding to this cavity 27.
  • the 16C connector is thus a female connector.
  • Each on-board equipment is for example a 32E or 32F electrical relay as illustrated on the figure 1 .

  • the replacement assistance device 40 makes it possible in particular to replace a first connector, for example the connector 16C fixed to the panel 10, by a second connector 46C.
  • the second connector 46C is for example substantially similar to the connector 16C and is intended to replace the connector 16C at the end of its life cycle.
  • the second connector 46C comprises the same components as the connector 16C. These components have been described with reference to the figure 2 .
  • each connection member 24 of the first connector 16C corresponds to a connection member 24 of the second connector 46C arranged in the same position as this connection member 24 of the first connector 16C.
  • each connection member 24 of the first connector 16C corresponds to a connection member 24 of the second connector 46C according to a predetermined correspondence rule.
  • the replacement assistance device 40 comprises a first and a second measuring cell 51, 52, an electromagnetic signal transmitter 53 and a controller 54.
  • Each of the first and second measuring cells 51, 52 is for example in the form of a box connected to the controller 54 and comprising a connection interface (not shown) complementary to the output interface 22 respectively of the first and second connectors 16C, 46C.

  • the analysis module 63 is able to receive all of the measurements acquired by the measurement module 62 and to analyze these measurements.
  • the analysis module 63 is capable of detecting any variation in the power of an electromagnetic signal received by the same connection member 24.
  • connection member 24 When at least one electric cable is connected to the connection member 24, a variation and in particular, a reduction in the power of the electromagnetic signal received by this member, means the disconnection of this cable from the member 24.
  • connection member 24 when no cable is connected to a connection member 24, a variation and in particular, an increase in the power of the electromagnetic signal received by this member, means the connection of a cable to this member 24 .
  • the analysis module 63 is thus able to detect the disconnection of an electrical cable from a connection member 24 of the first connector 16C and its connection to another connection member 24 of the second connector 46C.

  • the operator activates the operation of the replacement assistance device 40.
  • the operator carries out all of the operations described below as long as there is still at least one cable connected to a connection member 24 of the first connector 16C.
  • the operator disconnects a cable from the assembly of a connection member 24 of the first connector 16C. Then, the operator connects this cable to a connection member 24 of the second connector 46C which appears to him to correspond to the connection member 24 of the first connector 16C.
  • the signaling module 64 warns the operator.
  • the operator connects the cable to other connection members 24 of the second connector 46C to find a correct position of this cable.
  • the signaling module 64 notifies the operator.
  • the replacement assistance device 40 implements a method of assisting in the replacement of the first connector 16C by the second connector 46C which will now be explained with reference to the Figure 4 illustrating a flowchart of the steps of this process.
  • control module 61 activates the operation of the transmitter 53 which then emits radio signals at constant power.
  • connection members 24 of the first and second connectors 16C, 46C are received by all of the connection members 24 of the first and second connectors 16C, 46C.
  • the measurement module 62 measures the power of the electromagnetic signals received by each connection member 24 of each of the connectors 16C, 46C.
  • the analysis module 63 analyzes each measured power.
  • the analysis module 63 When a variation and in particular a reduction in the power of an electromagnetic signal received by a connection member 24 of the first connector 16C is detected, the analysis module 63 then deduces that the operator has just disconnected the cable from this connecting member.
  • the analysis module 63 waits until a variation and in particular an increase in the power of an electromagnetic signal received by a connection member 24 of the second connector 46C, is detected.
  • the analysis module 63 then deduces that the operator has just connected the cable to this connection member 24 of the second connector 46C.
  • step 140 when the cable was connected to the connection member 24 of the second connector 46C corresponding to the connection member 24 from which it was disconnected, the signaling module 64 indicates correct connection of this cable.
  • the reporting module 64 then checks the stored correspondence rules.
  • the signaling module 64 indicates an incorrect connection.
  • the device according to the invention makes it possible to considerably facilitate the replacement of a connector with another connector.
  • the operation of the device according to the invention is based on the fact that when a cable is connected to a connection member, it can be used as an antenna. This thus modifies the power of the electromagnetic signal received by this connection member.
  • the device according to the invention is capable of verifying correct connection of the cable when replacing the connector. Consequently, no additional test phase to verify correct connection is necessary.
  • a certain intelligence can be provided to the controller 54.
