    a second end (133) of the detector lever (130) being provided with a target (135) engaging with a position detector (140) to generate a signal depending on the thickness of the plate element (20, 20') and on the number of plate elements (20, 20') present at the level of the first end (132) of the detector lever (130).
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that it further comprises a braking system, allowing to slow down the descent movement of the detector lever (130).
  3. Device according to claim 2, characterised in that the braking system is an eddy-current brake.
