Description

The present invention relates to a method for operating an electrically operated mobile riveting tool that can be held in the hand of a user, and such a riveting tool that has a housing in which a rivet setting mechanism is accommodated, with which rivet elements are set in workpieces to be connected Setting the rivet elements rivet mandrels are generated, which are conveyed through a conveyor channel into a collection container of the riveting tool.

STAND DER TECHNIKSTATE OF THE ART

A pneumatically operated riveting device, for example, shows the DE 81 19 147 U1 . The riveting tool is used to set blind rivets in workpieces to be connected, and during the setting of the rivet parts of the rivet mandrel are torn off, and the collection container is used to collect the torn-off residual rivet mandrels. A conveying channel is used to transfer the residual rivet mandrel from the front mouthpiece of the rivet setting mechanism into the collecting container arranged on the rear of the housing of the riveting tool, with a large number of residual rivet mandrels being guided through the conveying channel with riveting elements set one behind the other and being received in the collecting container. Most collection containers for the remaining rivet mandrels are not visible and are made of non-transparent plastic, for example. The operator of the riveting tool must regularly check whether the collection container is already full. Even in the case of transparent collecting containers, emptying is often not carried out, and if the collecting container is full, the residual rivet mandrels can no longer be discharged and block the conveying channel, so that the remaining mandrels often become jammed in the conveying channel or in the collecting container, with even a collecting container that is not emptied can lead to the total loss of the riveting tool.

Der Auffangbehälter kann über einen rückseitigen Verschluss geöffnet werden, um diesen zu entleeren, wobei bei einem nicht entleerten Auffangbehälter die Gefahr besteht, dass sich der Auffangbehälter selbsttätig öffnet, und beispielsweise bei Überkopf-Nietarbeiten kann es zu Verletzungen beispielsweise der Augen kommen.the DE 10 2011 111 535 A1 discloses a further embodiment of a pneumatically operated riveting tool, and the rear of the riveting tool has a collecting container arranged on the housing, and through the rivet setting mechanism, starting from the mouthpiece, a conveying channel extends, which opens into the collecting container and through which the torn-off residual rivet mandrels can be moved. The collection container can be opened via a closure on the back in order to empty it, whereby if the collection container is not emptied there is a risk that the collection container will open automatically, and injuries to the eyes, for example, may occur when riveting overhead.

Bei elektrisch betriebenen insbesondere handhaltbaren Nietgeräten ist ein derartiges Unterdrucksystem allerdings nicht anwendbar.the DE 78 19 059 U1 discloses a device for collecting and sucking off residual rivet mandrels that have been torn off from blind rivets for pneumatically operated blind riveting devices with a passage channel in the device head, which serves as a conveying channel for the residual rivet mandrels. The free end of the collection container has a vacuum system operated by compressed air. This ensures that the collection and suction of the torn-off residual rivet mandrels works simply and reliably, with the compressed air being used to transport the residual rivet mandrels. However, such a vacuum system cannot be used in the case of electrically operated, in particular hand-held, riveting tools.

Also the JP 2012-1210026 discloses a pneumatically operated riveting device in which the remaining rivet mandrels are registered and made known to the user.

The generic U.S.A. 4,754,643 discloses an electrically powered hand held riveting tool and a method of operating it.

The object of the invention is the further development of a method for operating a hand-held electrically operated riveting tool and the further development of such a riveting tool, the safety against failure of the riveting tool being reduced by the method for operating the riveting tool and by the riveting tool itself. In particular, a riveting tool is to be created that is more user-friendly.

This object is achieved based on a method for operating an electrically operated hand-held riveting tool according to the preamble of claim 1 and based on a hand-held riveting tool according to the preamble of claim 5 with the respective characterizing features. Advantageous developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

The invention proposes the technical teaching of providing means with which the number of residual rivet mandrels in the collection container is determined and that information is provided to a user as to whether the collection container needs to be emptied.

The essence of the invention lies in informing the user of the electrically operated riveting tool, which is intended in particular as a battery-powered tool, as to whether and when the collection container is filled with residual rivet mandrels and must be emptied. In order to provide the information, means are provided according to the invention with which the number of residual rivet mandrels in the collection container is determined. If the number of residual rivet mandrels in the collection container reaches a maximum permissible capacity of the collection container, the user is informed that the collection container needs to be emptied. In the context of the invention, however, this information is not limited exclusively to a currently necessary emptying of the collecting container, the user can also be provided with information according to the invention when the collecting container must be emptied, for example how many rivets can still be set before the collecting container is full is.

According to a non-claimed embodiment of the means, these comprise a sensing counting device, with which the number of remaining rivet mandrels transported into the collecting container is counted and a sum of remaining rivet mandrels is formed, so that the user is provided with information about the sum formed as to whether the collecting container must be emptied. If the sum of the remaining rivet mandrels has not yet reached the maximum capacity of the collection container, the information is usually not provided to the user. Only when the collection container has to be emptied does the riveting tool inform the user that the collection container needs to be emptied. For example, the number of rivet setting processes that are still possible before the capacity of the collecting container is reached can also be output as information to the user, so that the user does not interrupt the setting of a row of rivets, for example, but does not start a new row before the collecting container is emptied. According to the method according to the invention, the means comprise an electronic counting device with which the number of times the riveting tool is actuated by the user by means of an activation switch is counted, from which the number of residual rivet mandrels which are conveyed into the collecting container is advantageously determined. For example, the riveting tool has a control unit, in particular when the riveting tool is designed as an electrically operated riveting tool and in particular when the activation switch is designed to work electrically. So can open can be determined in a simple manner and without additional hardware components with the control unit, which degree of filling the collecting container has, so that current information about the filling level of the collecting container can be output to the user of the riveting tool. For example, the riveting tool also has a display device, and the control unit can be used to display on the display device the number of rivet setting processes after which the collection container must be emptied. This enables the user to decide whether or not a rivet setting sequence can still be performed before the bin is emptied.

The hand-held riveting tool particularly advantageously has a removal sensor, with which removal of the collecting container from the housing of the riveting tool is detected, and after removal of the collecting container from the housing, the count of residual rivet mandrels in the collecting container is zeroed. In particular, the control unit can be coupled to the removal sensor, so that, for example, after a temporary removal of the collecting container, it is assumed that it has been emptied, and the control unit can start counting the remaining rivet mandrels transported into the collecting container from the beginning. In this case, it is necessary for the user to actually empty the collecting container when the collecting container is detached from the housing.

According to yet another embodiment, the riveting tool is designed to communicate with a mobile phone via a wireless connection, so that the riveting tool transmits information to the mobile phone, at least including the remaining number of riveting processes and/or the need to empty the collecting container, and via an app to the user is displayed on the mobile phone. For example, the mobile phone can vibrate or generate acoustic signals when an action by the user of the riveting tool is necessary, particularly with regard to the collection container.

The object of the invention is also achieved by a hand-held riveting tool with a housing in which a rivet setting mechanism is accommodated, with which rivet elements can be set in workpieces to be connected, and with a Conveyor channel through which residual rivet mandrels produced when setting the riveting elements can be conveyed into a collection container of the riveting tool. According to the invention, means are provided with which the number of residual rivet mandrels in the collection container can be determined, and it is provided that information can be made available to a user as to whether the collection container needs to be emptied.

According to an embodiment that is not claimed, the means comprise a sensing counting device with which the number of residual rivet mandrels conveyed into the collecting container can be counted.

According to the invention, the means comprise an electronic counting device with which the frequency of actuation of the riveting tool can be counted by means of an activation switch.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the riveting tool has a removal sensor with which a removal of the collection container from the housing of the riveting tool can be detected. According to an advantageous development of the hand-held riveting tool, such removal sensors are used to detect the arrangement of the collecting container, so that in interaction with the control unit of the riveting tool it can only be operated when the removal sensor detects the presence of a collecting container. This ensures that the residual rivet mandrels do not escape through the conveying channel via the back of the housing of the riveting tool and cause an eye injury to the user, for example. According to the invention, such removal sensors provided in a manner known per se can be used to zero the count of the number of residual rivet mandrels in the collecting container, if it is assumed that the collecting container will also be emptied during a temporary removal.

With a further advantage, the hand-held riveting tool has a display means which is designed to display the remaining number of riveting processes until the collecting container has to be emptied. The display means is arranged, for example, in the form of a window on the housing of the riveting tool, for example and in particular in the area of the handle, in the side area or in the roof area of an upper housing part in which the rivet setting mechanism is accommodated.

Yet another embodiment of the hand-held riveting tool provides an unlocking means for manual unlocking, by means of which the collection container is removed, the unlocking means lighting up or flashing when the collection container needs to be emptied. In this way, a user is provided with the information, in a self-explanatory and particularly intuitive manner, as to which actions are necessary in order to empty the collection container. With particular advantage, the riveting tool is designed for self-sufficient operation with an accumulator. The accumulator of the riveting tool represents an electrical energy supply with which the method according to the invention for operating the hand-held riveting tool can be carried out.

Further measures improving the invention are presented in more detail below together with the description of a preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention with reference to the figure.
The figure shows
a schematic view of an electrically operated riveting tool for setting blind rivets with the feature of the present invention.

The electrically operated riveting tool 1 has a housing 10 in which a rivet setting mechanism 11 is accommodated, and the rivet setting mechanism 11 comprises a front mouthpiece 21 in which a rivet element 12 is accommodated, for example. The rivet element 12 is used to connect the workpieces 13, which are only indicated schematically. On the underside of the housing 10 is a part of the handle 24 for holding the riveting tool 1 in a hand-held manner, and the handle 24 is adjoined by an accumulator 22 . The riveting tool 1 is thus designed as a self-sufficient electric riveting tool that is held and operated by a user.

A collecting container 16 is located on the housing 10 on the rear side opposite the mouthpiece 21, and the collecting container 16 is used to receive residual rivet mandrels 14 is then transferred from the mouthpiece 21 via a conveying channel 15 aligned coaxially to the mouthpiece into the collection container 16 . For this purpose, the conveying channel 15 extends coaxially through the housing 10 and through the rivet setting mechanism 11 and forms a straight channel-like connection between the mouthpiece 21 and the collecting container 16. A residual rivet mandrel 14 is shown arranged in the conveying channel 15 as an example, which passes through the conveying channel in the direction of the arrow shown 15 is conveyed to the collection container 14.

According to an embodiment that is not claimed, a sensing counting device 17 is located on the conveying channel 15, with which it can be recognized how many residual rivet mandrels 14 are transferred into the collecting container 16. In the area where the collection container 16 is arranged on the housing 10 there is a removal sensor 20 which serves to sense the arrangement of the collection container 16 on the housing 10 . The removal sensor 20 can be used to detect whether the collecting container 16 is arranged on the housing 10 or whether it has been removed. Such removal sensors 20 are used in a manner known per se to prevent the activation of the riveting tool 1 via the activation switch 19 if there is no collection container 16 on the rear of the housing 10 . Such a safety device is intended to prevent the operation of the riveting tool 1 without a collecting container 16 in order to prevent injuries to the user, for example by preventing the remaining mandrels 14 from escaping the rear of the housing 10 .

Furthermore, a control unit 23 is shown schematically, which is also part of a riveting tool 1 in a manner known per se and is used to control the rivet setting mechanism 11 . The embodiment shows that the sensing counting device 17 (according to the embodiment not claimed) and the removal sensor 20 are connected to the control unit 23 . According to the invention, the electronic counting device 18 is shown as part of the control unit 23, with which the number of rivet elements 12 set can be counted. An interaction arrow indicates an operative connection with a display means 25, which is arranged in the handle 24, for example. The display means 25 can be used to show the user of the riveting tool 1, for example, the classification of riveting elements 12 for which the operating mode of the riveting tool 1 is set Display means 25 are displayed, how many residual rivet mandrels 14 are already present in the collecting container 16 and whether or when this needs to be changed.

The counting devices 17 and 18 show, by way of example, means with which the number of residual rivet mandrels 14 in the collecting container 16 is determined, and the information can be provided to the user as to whether the collecting container 16 needs to be emptied. This information can be displayed to the user, for example, via the display means 25, or an acoustic signal sounds, an additional light signal can also be given, or haptic information is sent to the user, for example by a vibration device in the riveting tool 1.

The counting device 17 (according to the embodiment not claimed) supplies the information about the number of remaining rivet mandrels 14 to the control unit 23, the number being recognized, for example, at the conveying channel 15. The detection via the sensing cell device 17 can also take place at a different point, for example within the rivet setting mechanism 11 . The number of residual rivet mandrels 14 in the collection container 16 is detected according to the invention by the electronic counting device 18 based on the number of times the activation switch 19 has been actuated, so that no further sensor means are required, since a simple electronic count in the control unit 23 determines the number of rivet elements 12 can be counted. The count can be zeroed, for example, when the removal sensor 20 detects the removal of the collection container 16, when it is assumed that a collection container 16 that has been removed will also be emptied. Furthermore, the removal sensor 20 can also include a metallic detector, with which it can be seen whether there are actually no remaining rivet mandrels 14 in the collecting container 16 .

According to yet another variant of the embodiment of the riveting tool 1 according to the invention, it is conceivable that the control unit 23 prevents the acceptance of an activation of the activation switch 19 when the collection container 16 is full and needs to be emptied. This state can be communicated to the user using the Display means 25 are displayed, so that it first has to empty the collecting container 16 in order to continue using the riveting tool 1 .

Also shown is a mobile phone 26, and the riveting tool 1 can be designed to communicate with the mobile phone 26 via a wireless connection 28, so that the riveting tool 1 transmits information to the mobile phone 26 at least including the remaining number of riveting operations and/or the need to empty the Collection container 16 is transmitted and is displayed to the user on the mobile phone 26 by means of an app 27 .

Via the display means 25 there is also the possibility of providing the user with information about how many rivet elements 12 can still be set before the collection container 16 has to be emptied. This information can be provided, for example, by counting down the remaining rivet setting processes, which is displayed on the display means 25 .

The invention is not limited in its implementation to the preferred exemplary embodiment given above.
