Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of fuse holders, and in particular fuse holders for automotive applications.
- fuse holders of this type can be used to protect charging circuits of electric vehicles.
- these fuses are placed as far upstream as possible in the charging circuit, for example, at the charging socket, in order to protect the vehicle and its possible occupants from a short circuit, from excessive heating. or even a fire.
- the fuses are located outside the passenger compartment, and therefore subjected to bad weather, water jets, etc.
- the document US 2013/037294 A1 discloses a fuse holder according to the preamble of claim 1. Given the importance of the protective role played by these fuses, improvements to these fuses are sought in order to increase efficiency and reliability.
- a fuse holder comprising two housing elements.
- Each element being monobloc.
- these two housing elements form, once assembled, a closed tube at each of its ends. They then allow to house at least one fuse.
- Several fuses may possibly be housed in parallel between two housing elements.
- Each fuse has two connection terminals.
- Each housing element has at least one contact for making an electrical connection with one of these terminals.
- two contacts are provided, each respectively located in a housing element. Each contact is intended to then establish an electrical connection with one of the two connection terminals of a fuse.
- Each contact is electrically connected, for example by crimping and / or welding, to a cable.
- Each housing element has a passage for this or these cable (s) and a wire seal for sealing between the outer insulating sheath of each cable and this passage.
- this seal may be a unitary wire seal.
- a wired unitary seal may be provided for each cable or a joint for several cables, with a passage for each cable.
- One of the two housing elements has a base, intended to receive at least one fuse and extending longitudinally in a direction of assembly of the two housing elements with each other.
- This housing element further comprises an interfacial seal disposed on the base. This is for example an O-ring that extends essentially in a plane perpendicular to the assembly direction.
- This interfacial seal is covered by the other housing member when the two housing members are assembled together. The interfacial seal is thus sandwiched between the two housing elements. Specifically, the interfacial seal is sandwiched between the outer surface of the base of one of the housing members and the inner surface of the other housing member.
- the fuse (s) housed in the fuse holder is (are) in a sealed zone.
- a molded edge is provided on one of the housing members and extending from one to the other. all around the base and secondly in the assembly direction of the two housing elements with each other. The rim then overhangs the interfacial joint.
- the holding means are removable and / or movable between an open position and a closed position.
- the interfacial seal In the open position of the holding means, the interfacial seal can slide relatively freely over a portion of the cap.
- the displacement of the interfacial seal on the base In the closed position of the holding means, the displacement of the interfacial seal on the base is more limited and is essentially maintained under the rim, or at least an area sufficiently close to it for the flange to make the interfacial joint more difficult to reach. .
- the means for maintaining the interfacial seal are made of material with a support in which at least one fuse is housed. Thus, two functions (maintenance of the interfacial seal and fuse holder) are provided by a single element which makes the manufacturing and assembly processes of the fuse holder according to the invention simpler and more economical.
- the open position of the holding means / fuse holder allows the insertion of at least one fuse on the support and their closed position allows the connection of this fuse with a contact.
- locking means may be provided, part of which is located on one of the casing elements and another part is located on the other of the casing elements. . These two parts then engage, for example by snapping together with one another, to lock the housing members when they are assembled with each other. In order to protect these shock-locking means or an involuntary unlocking, these can be at least partially covered and protected by the rim.
- a bevelled surface on one of the housing elements This beveled surface is located at least partially under the rim. It flares in an assembly direction corresponding to the insertion of a portion of the other housing element under the flange. This beveled surface then forms a ramp for sliding, during the assembly of the housing elements with each other, the interfacial seal on the base of the position in which it was retained by the holding means, to a position in which he rests on a seat with which he makes a tight contact.
- the interfacial seal it can be provided on one of the housing members, a flared opening at which are inserted the seat and the seal located on the other housing member. In this way, it avoids having to make a groove on the base whose molding would have been incompatible with the realization of the rim.
- fuse holder 1 An example of fuse holder 1 is shown on the figure 1 .
- This fuse holder 1 is inserted between two cable portions 2, in an electric circuit, such as a load circuit of an electric vehicle.
- Each cable portion 2 is electrically connected, for example by crimping or soldering to a contact 3 (for example a DCS1 6.3 female contact of Delphi -visible on the Figures 4 and 5 ).
- Each contact 3 is housed in a housing element 4, 5.
- a first housing element 4 comprises locking means 6 for holding the second housing element 5, forming a cover. Once assembled, the first 4 and second 5 housing elements form a tube closed at each of its ends by a wall 7 provided with a passage 8 for each cable portion 2.
- this fuse holder comprises, in addition to the contacts 3 and the first 4 and second 5 housing elements, a fuse holder 9, a fuse 10 and an O-ring 11.
- the fuse 10 is housed in the support 9, itself housed in the tube consisting of the first 4 and second 5 housing elements assembled with each other.
- the seal 11, mounted on the first housing element 4, is interposed between the first 4 and second 5 housing elements, in the manner of an interfacial seal, in order to seal them (see FIG. Figures 4 and 5 ).
- the locking means 6, constituted by two elastic fasteners 6a, are disposed diametrically opposite to the first casing element 4, each of which is provided with a notch 6b in which an interlocking lug 6c is interlocked. on the second housing element 5 (See figure 5 ).
- the first housing element 4 essentially consists of a substantially cylindrical base 4a with an outer face 4b partially surrounded by a skirt 4c.
- the locking means 6 are partially covered by a flange consisting of a skirt 4c.
- the support 9 has a cradle shape with two lateral walls 12 extending longitudinally between two flanges 13.
- Two lateral elastic ears 14 each extend respectively from a side wall 12.
- Each of these side lugs 14 is provided with a notch 14a for forming means for retaining a fuse 10 in its support 9.
- the support 9 also comprises guiding and fixing means 15 ( Figure 3A ). These comprise two legs 15a, diametrically opposed, each respectively comprising a hook 15b for retaining or locking the support 9 on the first housing element 4 (See figure 4 ), in posterior recesses 17a (open position of the support 9) or anterior 17b (closed position of the support 9). These two tabs 15a constitute guide means which make it possible to precisely guide and position the support 9 relative to the first housing element 4. These two tabs 15a also constitute means for holding the gasket 11 on the first housing element 4. The means for holding the gasket 11 are integral with the support 9.
- FIGS 3A and 3B respectively illustrate the open and closed positions of the support 9 on the first housing element 4.
- the support 9 In the position corresponding to the figure 3A , the support 9 is in the open position, or pre-locked. In this position, the fuse 10 can be introduced into the support 9 without having to dismount it from the first housing element 4.
- the support 9 remains maintained, but mobile, on the first housing element 4 thanks to the fact that the hooks 15b remain engaged in the posterior recesses 17b.
- the seal 11 remains held by the tabs 15a on the base 4a.
- the support 9 When the fuse 10 is well positioned between the lateral lugs 14, under the notches 14a and with the terminals 10a inserted in the slots 13a, the support 9 can be moved longitudinally, towards its closed position, inside a cavity 18 formed in the base 4a of the first housing element 4 and opening onto an opening 19. In this movement, the lugs 15a slide in grooves 20 arranged longitudinally, diametrically opposite, on the outer face 4b of the base 4a (see figure 2 ). Thus, when inserting the support 9 in the first housing element 4, it can only be correctly oriented, so that the opening of the female contact 3 which is housed in the first housing element 4 is aligned with the corresponding terminal 10a.
- the second housing element 5 can be threaded onto the support 9 and around the base 4a, to be locked by the locking means 6.
- the second housing element 5 comprises polarization means 16 allowing an operator to correctly orient it with respect to the support 9.
- the second housing element 5 can not be that correctly oriented, so as to that the opening of the female contact 3 which is housed therein is aligned with the corresponding terminal 10a.
- the first 4 and second 5 thus assembled casing elements form a closed tube and kept tight thanks to the interfacial seal 11 and to the wired unitary joints 19 crimped with the cables 2 on the contacts 3.
- the gasket 11 is arranged on the base 4a essentially in a plane perpendicular to the assembly direction A. It is covered by the second housing element 5 when the two housing elements 4, 5 are assembled one with the other. other.
- the first housing element 4 comprises a beveled surface 20, located under the flange consisting of the skirt 4c. It flares in an assembly direction corresponding to the insertion of a portion of the second housing element 5 under this flange.
- This bevelled surface 20 forms a ramp to bring the interfacial seal 11 to a seat 21 when assembling the first 4 and second 5 housing elements together.
- the second housing element 5 has an opening 22 flared at which are inserted the seat 21 and the seal 1.
- the seal 11 is at least partly protected by the flange consisting of the skirt 4c.
- This flange extending firstly around the base 4a and secondly in the assembly direction of the first 4 and second 5 housing elements with each other.
- the seal 11 is protected even when the second housing element 5 is not assembled with the first 4.
- the tabs 15a can hold the gasket 11 on the first housing element 5, under the skirt 4c, when the support 9 is in the closed position (which advantageously corresponds to the delivery position of the assembly consisting of the first housing element 4 and the support 9).
- the fuse holder 1 may comprise a single support 9 but can accommodate several fuses 10 or still several supports 9 each housing one or more fuses 10.
Description
The invention relates to the field of fuse holders, and in particular fuse holders for automotive applications.
For this purpose, there is provided according to the invention a fuse holder according to
One of the two housing elements has a base, intended to receive at least one fuse and extending longitudinally in a direction of assembly of the two housing elements with each other. This housing element further comprises an interfacial seal disposed on the base. This is for example an O-ring that extends essentially in a plane perpendicular to the assembly direction. This interfacial seal is covered by the other housing member when the two housing members are assembled together. The interfacial seal is thus sandwiched between the two housing elements. Specifically, the interfacial seal is sandwiched between the outer surface of the base of one of the housing members and the inner surface of the other housing member.
Thus, the fuse (s) housed in the fuse holder is (are) in a sealed zone.
In order to protect the interfacial seal, for example when the two housing members are not assembled together, a molded edge is provided on one of the housing members and extending from one to the other. all around the base and secondly in the assembly direction of the two housing elements with each other. The rim then overhangs the interfacial joint.
In order to retain the interfacial seal on the housing element on which it is mounted, especially as the housing elements are not assembled with each other, for example during transport and delivery phases, provision is made for means for maintaining this interfacial seal. This arrangement allows delivery of the fuse holder with a pre-mounted support on a housing element and with a seal already in place thereon, while the contacts, the cables and the fuse will be mounted at one stage higher.
The holding means are removable and / or movable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position of the holding means, the interfacial seal can slide relatively freely over a portion of the cap. In the closed position of the holding means, the displacement of the interfacial seal on the base is more limited and is essentially maintained under the rim, or at least an area sufficiently close to it for the flange to make the interfacial joint more difficult to reach. . The means for maintaining the interfacial seal are made of material with a support in which at least one fuse is housed. Thus, two functions (maintenance of the interfacial seal and fuse holder) are provided by a single element which makes the manufacturing and assembly processes of the fuse holder according to the invention simpler and more economical. The open position of the holding means / fuse holder allows the insertion of at least one fuse on the support and their closed position allows the connection of this fuse with a contact.
In order to keep the casing elements assembled together, locking means may be provided, part of which is located on one of the casing elements and another part is located on the other of the casing elements. . These two parts then engage, for example by snapping together with one another, to lock the housing members when they are assembled with each other. In order to protect these shock-locking means or an involuntary unlocking, these can be at least partially covered and protected by the rim.
To facilitate the establishment of the interfacial seal, there can be provided a bevelled surface on one of the housing elements. This beveled surface is located at least partially under the rim.
To accommodate the interfacial seal, it can be provided on one of the housing members, a flared opening at which are inserted the seat and the seal located on the other housing member. In this way, it avoids having to make a groove on the base whose molding would have been incompatible with the realization of the rim.

The
