Description

The invention relates to a manifold for a heat exchanger, in particular for a motor vehicle. Such a collector box having the characteristics of the preamble of claim 1 is known from WO2006 / 082084 . The invention also relates to a corresponding heat exchanger. Such a heat exchanger is for example used in a motor vehicle, in particular as a cooling system radiator, or in high pressure applications, for example as a condenser of an air conditioning system.

Generally, such a heat exchanger comprises a bundle of tubes and at least one header box. This header box is configured to receive the ends of the tubes of the heat exchanger.

For this purpose, the collector box generally comprises a collector, for example in the form of a collector plate. The collector box generally also includes a cover which is fixed on the collector plate to close the collector box.

The collector plate makes it possible to distribute the fluid to the heat exchange tubes or to collect the fluid coming from these heat exchange tubes. The collector plate is generally made of aluminum and can be produced for example by stamping.

The collector plate has a generally flat bottom.

However, in applications intended to withstand pressure, it is known that the manifold has an at least partially rounded bottom to withstand the pressure. Furthermore, the collector plate with a flat bottom or a rounded bottom is usually provided with collars surrounding the collars. openings crossed by the ends of the tubes of the heat exchanger bundle.

The openings such as slits are made in the collector plate to introduce the tubes, for example with removal of material or, on the contrary, without removal of material. In the latter case, the material is pushed by the tool towards the interior of the volume defined by the collector box, thus creating a collar around the opening for the introduction of the tube. We are talking about standard collars.

The collars allow good contact between the tube and the opening in the collector plate and obtain a good brazing quality in the case of brazed exchangers, for example all aluminum.

The tubes are generally inserted into the opening in the same direction as the tooling to make the collars around the openings. The inserted tubes generally extend partly inside the header box to ensure proper brazing and a strong, tight assembly. According to some solutions, the tubes protrude into the volume forming the fluid reservoir by nearly half the volume of the manifold.

However, the protrusion of the tubes in the volume defined by the interior volume of the manifold box forming the fluid reservoir, creates an internal pressure drop on the fluid circuit. This drop in internal pressure requires increasing the pumping power to maintain a certain flow of fluid.

According to a known solution, a collector box with a flat bottom may have so-called inverted collars, that is to say made in the direction opposite to the direction of insertion of a heat exchange tube. The collars then have a flared shape oriented towards the opposite of the volume defined by the manifold. However, such inverted collars have a low flare, in other words the known inverted collars define a small inlet cone for the insertion of the heat exchange tubes. The inlet cone may therefore not be sufficient to allow simple insertion of the heat exchange tubes, and the solutions known from the prior art may present difficulties in inserting the heat exchange tubes into the manifold.

Due to this difficulty of inserting the heat exchange tubes into the manifold having such inverted collars, such an inverted collars solution for a rounded bottom collector is not envisaged in the prior art for the benefit of so-called collars. standards.

The object of the invention is to provide a collector box making it possible to solve these problems of the prior art.

To this end, the invention relates to a manifold for an exchanger thermal comprising a manifold having an at least partially rounded shape and comprising a plurality of openings for the passage of a plurality of heat exchange tubes of the heat exchanger, and a plurality of collars surrounding the openings,
characterized in that the collector further comprises a plurality of corrugations, and in that the collars are produced at the level of the corrugations of the collector and respectively have a substantially flared shape directed on the side opposite to the volume defined by the collector box.

According to the invention, the collars are formed at the level of the tops of the corrugations oriented towards the opposite of the volume defined by the manifold.

Such an at least partially rounded box is adapted to withstand the pressure in high pressure applications, and the manifold with such inverted collars, that is to say whose direction is opposite to the usual direction of insertion. tubes, makes it possible to receive the ends of the tubes which, previously, protruded inside the volume defined by the manifold.

The ends of the tubes therefore no longer open into the volume defined by the manifold box. This results in a significant reduction in the pressure drop associated with the flow of a fluid in the tubes of the heat exchanger.

In conclusion, by combining an at least partially rounded collector and a plurality of corrugations, there is sufficient material for the formation of the inverted collars sufficiently flared to facilitate the introduction of the heat exchange tubes. In fact, the inverted collars according to the invention define an inlet opening for the insertion of heat exchange tubes, in the shape of a substantially tulip, which is sufficiently large thanks to this supply of material.

Said box according to the invention also has the following characteristics
  • the collector has at least one wall of substantially convex shape towards the outside of the volume defined by the collector box,
  • the corrugations are formed on the wall,

Said collector box may also include one or more of the following characteristics, taken separately or in combination:
  • the corrugations respectively have a greater height of the order of 30% of the tube pitch, this height is sufficient to form a collar,
  • the collars respectively have a substantially conical shape,

  • the first width is substantially equal to the width of a tube intended to be inserted into the opening,
  • the collars respectively have two substantially flared convex edges, the convexity of which is oriented towards the outside of the volume defined by the manifold box,

By thinning the material, the collars can be lengthened to obtain a flare large enough to facilitate the introduction of the tubes.

The invention also relates to a heat exchanger, in particular for motor vehicles, comprising a bundle of heat exchange tubes, the ends of which are fixed to at least one manifold box, as defined above.

It can be a brazed heat exchanger.

As a variant, it may be a heat exchanger, the elements of which forming the collector box are mechanically assembled to each other.

There is shown schematically and simplified on the figure 1 , a fluid manifold 1 for a heat exchanger (not shown) in particular in the automotive field. The heat exchanger can be used in particular as a radiator or condenser for a motor vehicle.

In particular, the invention can be applied for a brazed heat exchanger.

The heat exchanger comprises a bundle of tubes 3. Only one end of a tube 3 is visible on the figure 2 . The tubes 3 are for example made of aluminum or of an aluminum alloy. These are for example substantially flattened tubes 3.

Seule une extrémité d'un tube 3 est visible sur la figure 2.The manifold 1 is configured to receive at least one end of a tube 3 of the heat exchanger, more precisely to receive the ends of a multiplicity of tubes 3, of the heat exchanger (not shown). Only one end of a tube 3 is visible on the figure 2 .

The manifold 1 further comprises a cover 6 fixed to the manifold 5, so as to close the manifold 1.

The collector 5 is for example made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The cover 6 for its part can be made of aluminum in an aluminum alloy, or in a variant of plastic.

The cover 6 can be fixed to the manifold 5, for example by clipping, by brazing or even by crimping.

In addition, the manifold 5 has a plurality of openings 7 for the passage of the ends of the tubes 3.

The openings 7 have for example a substantially elongated shape, such as slits.

The ends of the tubes 3 received in the openings 7 can then be soldered, for example to the manifold 5.

According to one embodiment, the heat exchange tubes 3 have a height of between 0.8mm and 2.5mm, preferably between 1.2mm and 1.8mm.

The pitch of the heat exchange tubes 3, that is to say the center distance between two heat exchange tubes 3, is for example between 5mm and 10mm, preferably between 6mm and 8mm.

The collector box 1 further comprises side walls 8 'connected to this box bottom 8.

This is a box bottom 8 of at least partially rounded shape.

According to the illustrated embodiment, the wall 8 forming the bottom of the box, also called the bottom wall 8, has a shape which is substantially convex towards the outside of the volume defined by the manifold 1. Thus, the bottom wall 8 of the manifold 5 has a shape that is substantially concave with respect to the interior volume defined by the manifold 1, and substantially convex with respect to the bundle of tubes 3 of the heat exchanger, the convexity of which is oriented towards the outside of the volume defined by the manifold 1.

As can be seen on the figures 1 to 3 , the collector box 1 further comprises a predefined number of collars 9 formed on the collector 5 at the level of the openings 7 to receive the ends of tubes 3. More precisely, each opening 7 is surrounded by a collar 9. The collars 9 are here produced without removing material.

The manifold 5 further comprises a plurality of deformations 11. These deformations 11 are produced at the level of the substantially domed bottom wall 8 of the manifold 5. The deformations 11 are for example produced so as to form a regular pattern.

Selon le mode de réalisation illustré, il s'agit d'ondulations ou vagues 11.According to the illustrated embodiment, these are ripples or waves 11.

The corrugations 11 can be produced symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bottom wall 8 of the collector 5. The corrugations 11 therefore have peaks extending alternately on either side of the longitudinal axis of the collector. bottom wall 8 of the manifold 5. In other words, the corrugations 11 have for example a plurality of vertices directed towards the interior of the volume defined by the manifold 1 and a plurality of opposite vertices directed towards the opposite of the volume defined by the manifold box, and therefore towards the outside of the manifold 1 and towards the tube bundle 3 of the heat exchanger.

The collars 9, better visible on the figures 4a, 4b , are formed at the level of the corrugations 11, more precisely at the tops of the corrugations 11 directed towards the opposite of the volume defined by the manifold. In particular, the openings 7 are formed by piercing or perforating the collector 5 at the tops of the corrugations 11 directed towards the opposite of the volume defined by the collector box, and the collars 9 are produced by the material around these openings 7.

In order to be able to have sufficient material to form the collars 9 at the level of the corrugations 11, the corrugations 11 are made with a sufficient height h (cf. figure 5 ), for example with a greater height h of the order of 30% of the tube pitch.

The collars 9 thus formed are directed towards the opposite of the volume defined by the manifold 1, namely towards the bundle of tubes 3 of the heat exchanger. We are talking about inverted 9 snares.

Thus, referring again to the figure 2 and at the figure 6 , when the end of a tube 3 of the heat exchanger is inserted into an opening 7 surrounded by such an inverted collar 9, this tube end 3 is located in a zone Z located between the tops of the corrugations 11 which are oriented towards the interior of the volume defined by the manifold 1 and the level of the bottom of the box 8 of the manifold 5, but does not protrude into the volume defined by the manifold 1. The absence of tubes 3 opening into the volume of the collector box 1 improves performance in terms of fluid flow.

The collars 9 have a sufficient height h 'suitable for allowing the insertion of the ends of the tubes 3, for example of the order of half the height h of a corrugation 11.

In addition, the collars 9 have a generally flared shape, such as a tulip shape.

More precisely, the collars 9 respectively have a shape substantially conical, for example with an angle α of the order of 30 ° (cf. figure 5 ).

A collar 9 therefore has two flared edges 9a, 9b, corresponding to the two large edges, connected to each other by two small edges 9c, 9d.

Cette forme évasée, ou sensiblement conique, facilite l'introduction des extrémités des tubes 3 dans le collecteur 5, depuis l'extérieur du volume défini par la boîte collectrice 1 vers l'intérieur du volume défini par la boîte collectrice 1.This flared, or substantially conical, shape facilitates the introduction of the ends of the tubes 3 into the manifold 5, from outside the volume defined by the manifold 1 towards the interior of the volume defined by the manifold 1.

The two flared edges 9a, 9b have for example a substantially convex shape, the convexity of which is oriented towards the outside of the volume defined by the manifold box 1.

With reference to the figure 5 , the collars 9 in the shape of a tulip have respectively:
  • a first width l 1 at the level of the pierced or perforated top of the associated corrugation 11 which corresponds to the smallest width of the collar 9, and
  • a second peripheral width l 2 , which corresponds to the greatest width of the collar 9.

La première largeur l1 est sensiblement égale ou légèrement supérieure à la largeur d'un tube 3 destiné à être inséré dans l'ouverture 7.The first width 11 is substantially equal to or slightly greater than the width of a tube 3 intended to be inserted into the opening 7.

The second width l 2 is provided sufficiently wide to allow simple insertion, and in particular at the same time. , of the ends of all the tubes 3 of the heat exchanger (not shown) in the openings 7. The second width l 2 is for example of the order of twice the first width l 1 of the collar 9.

Indeed, with reference to the figure 6 , a corrugation 11 has for example a first thickness e 1 , and the collar 9 has a second thickness e 2 less than the first thickness e 1 of the corrugation 11.

The collar 9 can be thinned both at the large flared edges 9a, 9b and at the small connecting edges 9c and 9d.

By way of example, a thinning of the material is carried out at the level of the collar 9 which can go beyond 30%, or even locally beyond 50% of the initial thickness of the material.

En amincissant la matière au niveau d'un collet 9 on peut allonger ce collet 9.By thinning the material at the level of a collar 9, this collar 9 can be lengthened.

It is therefore understood that a manifold 5 comprising such inverted collars 9 makes it possible to facilitate the introduction of the ends of the multiplicity of heat exchange tubes 3 of the heat exchanger at the same time and in a simple manner without requiring specific tools. in particular to guide each tube 3 in the associated opening 7.

En effet, les collets 9 inversés et évasés offrent une ouverture suffisante pour l'introduction depuis l'extérieur de la boîte collectrice 1 vers l'intérieur du volume défini par la boîte collectrice 1.Indeed, the inverted and flared collars 9 offer a sufficient opening for the introduction from the outside of the manifold 1 towards the interior of the volume defined by the manifold 1.

Enfin, ces collets inversés 9 permettent l'insertion des extrémités des tubes 3 sans que ces extrémités ne débouchent à l'intérieur du volume défini par la boîte collectrice 1 favorisant ainsi l'écoulement du fluide à l'intérieur de la boîte collectrice 1.Finally, these inverted collars 9 allow the insertion of the ends of the tubes 3 without these ends opening out inside the volume defined by the manifold 1 thus promoting the flow of fluid inside the manifold 1.
