The US Pat. No. 6,652,793 B2 shows a cup holder for a vehicle having two movable holder arms which hold the inserted cup resiliently. The two retaining arms are attached via a support on the vehicle.

It is an object of the invention to further develop the above-mentioned known holder so that in the holder utensils can be easily inserted and removed again, the commodities can be clearly secured in the holder.

The stated object is solved by the features of claim 1.

This is achieved in that the adjusting plate is provided with a central recess and laterally upstanding limit stops for the holding position of the holding plates, that both holding plates are mounted on juxtaposed waves fixed and non-rotatable, that the shafts are rotatably mounted in the adjusting plate that both shafts via gears that are engaged with each other are coupled to each other that a shaft is provided with a handle, wherein the handle is connected to the shaft so that it is tangent to the open holding plates in the insertion position, while in the holding position crossed holding plates crossed diagonally.
