In operation, when the threshold block 2 moves vertically under deflection of the insert 15, the sealing lip 14 is resiliently bent by the contact surface, always keeping in contact with the contact surface and thereby reliably seals the gap between the threshold shoe 3 and the threshold block 2. The resilient bending results in relatively little friction between the sealing lip 14 and the sleeper block 2, so that the inventive threshold block unit 1 despite a simpler structure has a longer life than known threshold block units.

Claims (4)

  1. Sleeper block unit (1) for railway track systems, consisting of a sleeper block (2) and of a sleeper boot (3) that partly surrounds the sleeper block (2), the sleeper block (2) having a head portion (4) and a base portion (6) with side wall surfaces (7) and a bottom surface (8), and the head portion (4) being longer and larger than the base portion (6) such that a step (10) is formed between the head portion (4) and the base portion (6), which step forms a contact surface portions of which are oriented at least approximately parallelly to the bottom surface (8), characterised in that a surrounding sealing lip (14) is arranged at the upper edge of the sleeper boot (3) whose free end extends upwards and outwards and lies against the lower side of the contact surface formed by the step (10).
  2. Sleeper block unit (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that a junction area (9) between the side walls (7) of the base portion (6) and the step (10) is rounded.
  3. Sleeper block unit (1) according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a surrounding, outwardly directed nose (13) is provided on the sleeper boot in the area of the base of the sealing lip.
  4. Sleeper block unit (1) according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that both the base portion (6) of the sleeper block (2) and the sleeper boot (3) diminish in length and width from top to bottom.
