Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of lighting, more particularly automotive lighting.
- the invention relates to a headlamp lighting module for a motor vehicle.
- the published patent document EP 2 428 725 A2 discloses an automotive headlamp lighting module.
- the lighting module in question comprises a light source of the light-emitting diode (LED) type mounted on a plate arranged on a cooling radiator of said diode.
- the module also comprises a first reflecting surface in the form of a half-shell and able to reflect the rays emitted by the light source towards a second reflecting surface, called a folding surface, with an edge for cutting off the lighting beam.
- the lighting module also includes a lens disposed in front of the second reflective surface. The rays reflected by the first reflecting surface and which pass in front of the cutting edge of the pile encounter the lens and are deflected by the latter.
- rays encountering the second reflecting surface instead of encountering the lens at its lower part with a lower angle of incidence than the preceding rays, are reflected towards the upper part of the lens with an essentially identical angle of incidence. These rays are then deflected by the lens towards the bottom of the beam instead of being deflected upwards, thus producing a cut-off typical of a lighting beam of the "dipped" type or even dipped beam.
- a main part serves as a support for the lens, the reflective surface in the form of a half-shell and the bender. This part is then attached to the radiator. The latter directly supports the plate with the light source.
- the longitudinal positioning between the main part and the radiator takes place by means of eyelets on the main part cooperating by engagement with barrels on the radiator. Fixing screws are then screwed into the barrels to secure the main piece to the radiator.
- the main part comprises abutment surfaces cooperating directly with the radiator with a view to its vertical positioning. This teaching is interesting in that the main part makes it possible to ensure precise relative positioning between the lens, the reflecting surface, the bender and the radiator. Specifically, the folder is formed directly in the main part. Since this piece is
- the object of the invention is to overcome at least one of the drawbacks of the prior art, more particularly of the aforementioned prior art. More particularly, the object of the invention is to propose a lighting module the production of which is less costly while ensuring precise and easy relative positioning between the various constituent elements of the module in question, more particularly between the bending machine and the other elements such as the light source and the reflecting surface arranged opposite said source.
- the subject of the invention is a light module as defined in independent claim 1.
- the light module comprises: at least one light source; a first reflective surface with a first and a second focus and able to reflect the rays of the light source(s) located at the first focus towards the second focus; a second reflecting surface, called folding surface, with a cutting edge located at the second focal point; a lens capable of deflecting the rays originating from the first and second reflective surfaces in order to form a light beam along an optical axis of the module; a heat sink capable of dissipating the heat produced by said source(s) and supporting the folder; remarkable in that the heat sink comprises at least one boss directed upwards and in contact with the folder.
- the first reflective surface may have a generally elliptical profile. According to the invention, the contact of the boss(es) with the folder makes it possible to ensure vertical positioning of said folder.
- the boss or bosses extend or are distributed transversely to the optical axis over more than 50%, preferably more than 60% of the transverse dimension of the folder.
- transversely to the optical axis is meant perpendicularly or obliquely to said axis.
- the or at least one of the bosses extends transversely to the optical axis in a continuous manner over more than 50%, preferably more than 60% of the transverse dimension of the folder.
- the boss or bosses comprise at least one rib transverse to the optical axis and/or at least one longitudinal rib.
- the boss or bosses comprise at least one rib transverse to the optical axis and at least two longitudinal ribs spaced apart from each other.
- At least two longitudinal ribs each extend longitudinally from one or the other of the ends of the transverse rib.
- the boss or bosses comprise at least two ribs transverse to the optical axis. These transverse ribs make it possible to ensure stability of the folder with respect to pivoting along a transverse axis.
- the transverse ribs are successively along the optical axis.
- the boss or bosses comprise ribs forming a profile, in a generally horizontal plane and along the optical axis, in the shape of an H, a U, an inverted U, a ⁇ or an inverted ⁇ , Y, C, or parallelogram.
- the heat sink is made of metallic and/or plastic material, the boss(es) and said heat sink being formed by the same part.
- the boss(es) and the heat sink are integral
- the boss(es) and the heat sink are made by molding, for example with the heat sink.
- the boss or bosses may be a plastic part attached to the dissipator.
- the folder extends mainly in a direction transverse to the optical axis.
- the bender is a metal sheet whose cross section relative to the optical axis has a U-shaped profile.
- the module comprises a support supporting the first reflective surface and the folder.
- the support and the first reflective surface are one and the same part, preferably made in one piece.
- the support comprises means for positioning relative to the heat sink and in the direction of the optical axis, said means preferably cooperating with a plate supporting the light source or sources, said plate being arranged on the heatsink.
- the lens is fixed directly to the heat sink, the support and the lens comprising contact means ensuring relative positioning in the vertical direction.
- the side portions of the folder corresponding to the branches of the U comprise means for fixing to the support.
- the heat sink comprises a rear portion supporting the light source(s) and a front portion below the rear portion, the boss(es) being on the rear portion.
- the heat sink has a stepped profile, the front portion forming a first step of said staircase and the rear portion forming a second, higher step of said staircase.
- the boss or bosses are located on a zone of the rear portion which extends from the front edge of the rear portion to less than 20% of the length of said portion.
- At least a part of the boss or bosses are adjacent to the front edge of the rear portion of the heat sink.
- the support extends along the respective upper surfaces of the front and rear portions of the heat sink.
- the boss(es) have an average height of between 0.5mm and 5mm, preferably between 1mm and 3mm.
- the invention also relates to a lighting device, in particular for a motor vehicle, comprising a housing and at least one lighting module, noteworthy in that the module or at least one of the modules is in accordance with the invention.
- the measures of the invention are interesting in that they make it possible to easily and economically produce a switch-off lighting module with precise positioning of the bending machine. This can thus be made from a portion of sheet metal.
- the figure 1 is a representation in perspective of a lighting module according to the invention.
- This lighting module can be mounted in a motor vehicle headlamp. In this case, this module produces a cut-off lighting beam such as for a lighting function of the "dipped" type or even dipped beam.
- the lighting module 2 shown in figure 1 essentially comprises a radiator, or heat sink, 6 on which is arranged a plate 16 provided with one or more light sources 12, preferably of the light-emitting diode type.
- a support 4 represented in transparency and extending over the entire length of the module is arranged on the radiator 6.
- the support is in contact with a lens 8 and it comprises a reflecting surface 10.
- the latter has the general shape of a half-shell covering the light source 12.
- the profile of the reflective surface 10 may be generally elliptical with two focal points.
- the light source is located at the first focus and a reflective surface 14 is located substantially in the plane of the light source and with a front edge located at the second focus.
- the reflective surface 14 is commonly referred to as a “folder” insofar as it reflects part of the rays originating from the reflective surface 10 towards an upper part of the lens. Indeed, in the absence of the reflective surface 14, the rays passing behind the second focal point would encounter the lens at a lower part with a lower angle of incidence than those passing through the second focal point. These rays would then be deflected by the lens so as to form the upper part of the lighting beam. The fact of returning these rays towards an upper part of the lens makes it possible to reverse this effect and to form the lower part of the beam. The front edge of the folder 14 thus forms a horizontal cut in the beam.
- the reflective surface of the bender 14 forms a projection in its middle so as to form two different cut-off levels between the left part and the right part of the lighting beam, in accordance with the regulations in terms of vehicle lighting in force in most countries.
- the use of a bender to form a cut-off light beam is well known per se to those skilled in the art.
- the lighting beam is in a main direction commonly called the optical axis of the module. This axis also essentially corresponds to the longitudinal axis of the module.
- the plate 16 comprises at its rear part a connector 18 for its connection to the electrical harness of the headlight and of the vehicle.
- the picture 2 illustrates the heatsink 6 of the module of the figure 1 , the radiator being equipped only with the folder 14 and the platen 16. It can be observed that the radiator 6 comprises a rear portion 6 1 supporting the platen and a front portion 6 2 .
- the front portion 6 2 is at a level lower than that of the rear portion 6 1 .
- the profile of the radiator 6 is similar to that of a staircase, the front portion 6 2 corresponding to a first step and the rear portion 6 1 forming a second step, higher than the first.
- the folder 14 is located essentially at the level of the front edge of the rear portion 6 1 . More specifically, the folder 14 comprises a reflective central portion 14 1 and two lateral portions 14 2 in the form of arms for fixing to the support 4 ( figure 1 ). This fixing will be further detailed in relation to the figure 6 .
- the folder 14 thus has a U-shaped transverse profile where only the central portion 14 1 is optically active.
- the folder can be made from a portion of sheet metal, by shaping, bending and cutting.
- the front portion 6 2 comprises on its upper surface two bosses 6 3 . These bosses are intended to ensure exact positioning in the vertical direction of the support 4, as will be detailed in relation to the figures 3 and 4 . These bosses may be more numerous. It could also be one or more bosses extending transversely, like a rib.
- the front portion 6 2 also comprises, at its front edge, two lugs 6 4 for fixing the lens 8 ( figure 1 ), as will be detailed in connection with the figures 3 and 4 .
- the rear portion 6 1 can comprise one or more studs, in this case two studs 6 3 intended to pass through corresponding orifices of the plate 16. These studs can be generally conical.
- the plate 16 also comprises orifices 16 1 intended to receive fixing screws and oblong holes 16 2 intended to allow longitudinal positioning, that is to say along the direction of the optical axis, of the support 4 with respect to plate 16.
- the picture 3 is an elevation view of the module of the figure 1 .
- the figure 4 is a sectional representation along the IV-IV axis of the picture 3 . It can be observed that the support 4 comprises several portions, in this case a rear portion 4 1 in contact with the plate 16 on the rear portion 6 1 of the radiator, an intermediate portion 4 2 and a front portion 4 3 arranged above of the front portion 6 2 of the radiator 6 and on its bosses 6 3 .
- the lens 8 comprises two fixing lugs 8 1 extending from a lower edge towards the lugs 6 4 of the radiator 6. More precisely, these lugs 8 1 extend through openings 24 in the front portion 4 3 of the support 4. These lugs 8 1 can comprise cavities, or through passages, fitting the ends of the lugs 6 4 .
- the front portion 4 3 of the support 4 is, on its underside, bearing on the bosses 3 and 6, on its upper face bears against the lens 8. The front portion 4 3 is thus vertically positioned accurately by in relation to the radiator 6 as well as to the lens 8.
- the engagement between the lugs 6 4 of the radiator 6 and the orifices or cavities of the fixing lugs 8 1 of the lens 8 is preferably without play, more particularly with a clamp.
- the lugs 6 4 of the radiator 6 may have at their ends longitudinal ribs intended to ensure a slight tightening with the fixing lugs 8 1 of the lens.
- the material of the lens preferably being a translucent or transparent plastic material, such as for example polycarbonate, the fixing lugs 8 1 can deform somewhat when they are put in place on the lugs 6 4 , in order to avoid any play mechanics and uncertainty about the vertical positioning of the lens.
- the tabs 6 4 form an S profile, that is to say a profile with a projection, this projection forming an abutment surface in the direction longitudinal of the module.
- the longitudinal positioning of the fixing lugs 8 1 of the lens 8 is thus also ensured.
- the figure 5 illustrates the heatsink 6 of the module of the figure 1 , equipped only with the lens 8 and the folder 14, the latter being shown in transparency.
- the radiator comprises H-shaped ribs 66 in the longitudinal direction of the module. These ribs serve as a support surface for the folder 14. It is indeed important that the folder 14, more particularly its reflecting central portion 14 1 , is parallel to the upper surface of the rear portion 6 1 of the radiator 6. Indeed , any misalignment of the reflective surface of the bender 14 is likely to significantly modify the photometry of the light beam of the module. It is therefore important to be able to precisely position the folder 14 not only in translation in the longitudinal direction but also vertically and in rotation around a transverse axis.
- the ribs 6 6 ensure a vertical positioning and in rotation around a transverse axis of the folder 14. They also make it possible to avoid light leaks between the lower face of the central portion 14 1 and the upper face of the rear portion 6 1 from the radiator.
- the rear portion 6 1 of the radiator comprises two cavities 6' whose function will be detailed in relation to the figures 8 and 9 .
- Fixing screws 20 and 22 of the plate supporting the light source and of the support are visible on the figure 5 .
- the figure 6 is a cross-sectional view of the module of the figure 1 , the section being at the level of the folder 14. This view illustrates the mode of attachment and positioning of the folder 14. It can be observed that the central portion 14 1 of the folder is in contact with the transverse rib 6 6 of the radiator 6. It can also be observed that the fixing arms 14 2 of the folding machine cooperate by engagement with orifices in the support 4. These arms 14 2 can comprise for this purpose retaining tabs intended to allow the insertion of the arms 14 2 into the orifices and to prevent their exit from these orifices. Other fixing and/or retaining means can be envisaged.
- the ribs 6 6 shown in figure 5 and 6 are preferably made in one piece with the radiator 6.
- the latter is preferably made of a metallic or plastic material capable of being molded, such as for example aluminum or thermoplastics having thermal conduction properties. It is therefore advantageous to produce these ribs directly during the production of the radiator.
- these ribs may deviate from that illustrated in figure 5 and 6 . Indeed, they could for example comprise two transverse ribs parallel and distant from each other. They could also have a U-shaped profile or else a rectangle shape. It could also be several point bumps.
- the figure 7 is an elevation view of the module of the figure 1 . Unlike the picture 3 , the figure 7 illustrates the module provided with fixing screws 20 and 22, visible in particular at figure 5 . As can be seen at the figure 7 , The axis VIII-VIII section passes through an oblong hole 4 5 of the support 4 as well as a pawns May 6 radiator 6. The head of the fastening screw 22 passing through this slot is fully received by said hole, meaning that this screw is not resting on the support 4 but only on the plate.
- the figure 8 is a sectional representation along the VIII-VIII axis of the figure 7 .
- the figure 9 is an VIII-VIII sectional view of the module of the figure 7 , the view being however in perspective and the point of view of the section being opposite to that of the figure 8 .
- the support 4 comprises two lugs 4 4 , on either side of the longitudinal or optical axis of the module.
- Each of these lugs 4 4 extends from the rear portion 4 1 of the socket to a cavity 6 7, that is to say essentially vertically downward.
- Each of the lugs 4 4 also passes through an oblong hole 16 2 formed in the plate 16 and is supported in the longitudinal direction against the edge of said hole.
- the support is directed towards the rear, that is to say that it is the rear portion of the edge of the oblong hole 16 2 which is in contact with the lug 4 4 . It is however understood that alternatively this support could be directed forwards.
- the cavities 6 7 may be sized to allow the pins 4 4 move freely when positioning the holder 4. To this end, the cavity may extend beyond the edge of the oblong hole 16 2 with which the lug 4 4 comes into abutment.
- the plate 16 is fixed by the screw 22 passing through the hole 5 of the support 4 oblong.
- the plate 16 can be positioned on the radiator 6 by means of two pins 5 of the radiator 6, which cooperate with corresponding holes in the plate 16.
- the rear portion 4 1 of said support is placed against plate 16, taking care that the lugs 4 4 penetrate the oblong holes 16 2 of the plate and the corresponding cavities 6 7 of the radiator.
- 4 oblong holes 6 may be provided to cooperate with the pins on May 6 while allowing movement of the carrier 4.
- the support 4 When the rear portion 4 1 of the holder 4 is in contact with the plate 16, the support 4 can then be moved essentially in the longitudinal direction so as to bring each of the lugs 4 4 into contact with the corresponding edge of the oblong holes 16 2 of the plate.
- the fixing screws 20 resting on the support can then be put in place and tightened in order to ensure the fixing of the support 4 as well as the plate 16 on the radiator 6.
- lugs 4 4 as a stop means acting in the longitudinal direction between the support and the plate ensures an exact positioning between the reflecting surface 10, supported by the support, and the light source.
- the lugs and the oblong holes of the plate with which they cooperate can be designed to ensure positioning not only in the longitudinal direction but also in the transverse direction, that is to say positioning in the plane sliding between the plate and the rear portion of the support.
- the edge of the oblong holes and/or the corresponding lug may/may be profiled so as to ensure centering of the corresponding lug.

It can be observed there that the
The use of
It should be noted that the lugs and the oblong holes of the plate with which they cooperate can be designed to ensure positioning not only in the longitudinal direction but also in the transverse direction, that is to say positioning in the plane sliding between the plate and the rear portion of the support. For this purpose, the edge of the oblong holes and/or the corresponding lug may/may be profiled so as to ensure centering of the corresponding lug.
