Claims (9)

  1. Device for dust separation in the untreated air area of an engine air intake of a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, the device comprising a dust discharge valve (2) on the outlet side,
    wherein the dust discharge valve (2) comprises an outlet aperture (16) and the dust separated in operation is at least partially collected in a dust collection area (18) upstream of the outlet aperture (16),
    wherein the dust discharge valve (2) comprises a closing element (22), which is arranged on the outlet aperture (16) so as to open outwards in the outlet direction and which is closed by a closing force when the engine is in operation, and
    wherein the dust discharge valve (2) is controlled and/or can be automatically opened and/or blown free by means of an opening and/or blow-free device,
    wherein the dust discharge valve (2) in the inner area comprises a blow-off device (24, 25) directed towards the outlet aperture (16), the blow-off pressure of which serves to open the closing element (22) and to blow off the dust collected in the dust collection area (18) from the dust discharge valve (2),
    wherein the blow-off device comprises a blow-off nozzle (24), which is arranged upstream of the outlet aperture (16) upstream of the dust collection area (18) and is directed towards the outlet aperture (16), and
    wherein the blow-off nozzle (24) is connected by means of a blow-off line (25) to a controllable pressure source, characterized in that
    the blow-off line (25) is a venting line of a handbrake control valve of the vehicle, which blows off air each time a pneumatic parking brake is engaged.

    the blow-off line (25) is connected via a control valve to the pressure source of the vehicle, and

    the dust discharge valve (2) is arranged on an upstream dust trap (9) at the bottom of the dust separation device (1), viewed in the direction of the vertical axis.
  4. Device according to Claim 3, characterized in that
    the dust discharge valve (2) is connected to a valve body area of a tubular valve body (15), preferably oriented approximately vertically, at the bottom of the dust trap (9), viewed in the direction of the vertical axis, and
    the valve body area connected to the dust trap (9) merges with a predefined curvature into the dust collection area (18) comprising the blow-off aperture (16).
  5. Device according to Claim 4, characterized in that the dust collection area (18) and hence the blow-off aperture (16) is inclined at an angle downwards, viewed in the direction of the vertical axis.

  8. Method for the operation of a device for dust separation in the untreated air area of an engine air intake of a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, the device comprising a dust discharge valve (2) on the outlet side,

    wherein the dust discharge valve (2) is controlled and/or automatically opened and/or blown free by means of an opening and/or blow-free device at defined times and/or at defined time intervals and
    wherein a blow-off device (24, 25) directed towards the outlet aperture (16) is provided in the inner area, the blow-off pressure of which serves to open the closing element (22) and to blow off dust collected in the dust collection area (18) from the dust discharge valve (2) at defined times and/or at defined time intervals,
