Dadurch können längliche Nuten oder Zapfenlöcher mit rechtwinklig zu einer Außenfläche des Holzbauteils angeordneten Seitenflächen hergestellt werden. Durch den Schwalbenschwanzfräser können somit nicht nur in an sich bekannter Weise alle Schwalbenschwanzzapfen und Schwalbenschwanznuten mit schräg verlaufenden Seitenflächen erzeugt werden, es ist ebenso möglich, normale Zapfenlöcher bzw. Nuten mit zueinander parallelen Seitenflächen zu fertigen.
