  1. Mounting ring (1) for installing a built-in light (2) in an installation opening formed in a ceiling or wall element (D), comprising

    - at least one holding element (5) for holding the base element (3) in the installation opening,
    wherein the at least one holding element (5) is arranged in a movable manner opposite the base element (3) such that it can be moved back and forth between a mounting position (M) and a holding position (H),
    wherein the mounting ring (1) can be moved into the installation opening when the at least one holding element (5) is in the mounting position (M) and wherein the mounting ring (1) is held in the installation opening when the base element (3) is positioned as intended in the installation opening and the at least one holding element (5) is in the holding position (H),
    wherein the mounting ring (1) is designed in such a way that the at least one holding element (5) is movably arranged on the base element (3) in such a way that it cannot be separated from the base element (3) without changing the form of the base element (3) or of the at least one holding element (5),
    wherein the at least one holding element (5) has first guide elements (6, 7, 8, 9) for the movable arrangement on the base element (3) and the base element (3) has second guide elements (10, 13, 10', 11', 12', 13') which interact with the first guide elements (6, 7, 8, 9) such that the at least one holding element (5) is arranged in a guided and movable manner on the base element (3),

    in which the at least one holding element (5) comprises a release element (23) and the mounting ring (1) is designed in such a way that the locking mechanism is released when the release element (23) is actuated.
  9. Mounting ring according to one of the preceding claims,
    which comprises at least two holding elements (5), preferably at least three holding elements (5).
