Abstract
Erfindungsgemäß wird das zu unterkühlende flüssige Kohlendioxid innerhalb eines Behälters (2) in einem Wärmetauscher (4) mit einem Kältebad (18) in thermischen Kontakt gebracht. Das Kältebad (18) umfasst eine Kältemischung aus festem Kohlendioxid (20) und einem Trägermedium. Beim Wärmetausch mit dem zu unterkühlenden flüssigen Kohlendioxid sublimiert ein Teil des im Kältebad (18) befindlichen Kohlendioxids und wird anschließend als Kohlendioxidgas abgeführt. Das aus dem Kältebad (18) sublimierte feste Kohlendioxid wird ersetzt, indem ein Teilstrom oder eine vorgegebene Menge des zu unterkühlenden flüssigen Kohlendioxids entnommen und an einer im Behälter angeordneten Entspannungsdüse (12) entspannt und der sich bei der Entspannung entstehende Kohlendioxidschnee dem Kältebad (18) beigemischt wird. Auf diese Weise kann das Kältebad (18) über einen nahezu beliebig langen Zeitraum auf einer gleichbleibende Temperatur gehalten und zur Unterkühlung des flüssigen Kohlendioxids eingesetzt werden.
