Definitions

  • the invention relates to a protective device for connectors and a use of a protective device.
  • connectors which comprise a plug and a socket.
  • the plug has electrical contacts which are releasably connectable to electrical contacts of the socket by inserting the plug housing into the housing of the socket.
  • plug connectors are known which comprise a locking device.
  • This locking device usually comprises a movable part, for example a lever or slide, which is mounted either on the plug or the socket or the base and which can be transferred from a first position to a second position.
  • a lock by means of a slider is for example from the US Pat. No. 6,155,849 from the local FIGS. 1 and 8th known.
  • the locking takes place, for example, by a mechanism in or on the plug housing or the socket housing, which locks any configurable latch in designated areas in the other housing.
  • the mechanism for this locking is usually, just by the necessary connection of lying outside the plug o. G. movable part of the locking device with the mechanism - at least partially - exposed to environmental or environmental influences. In particular, in the field of automotive industry, where such connectors are used in the engine compartment, existing contaminants in the engine compartment can therefore easily get into the mechanism or the locking device.
  • the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a device that the connector and its locking device so environmental or. Environmental influences protects that a simple and quick disconnection of the plug connection is possible in the case of maintenance. Furthermore, the device should provide a simple way to ensure or check that the locking device of a connector is actually locked.
  • the invention solves this problem by a protective device for one or more connectors according to claim 1 and a use of a protective device according to claim 15.
  • the invention comprises a protective device for one or more connectors. That a protective device can be used simultaneously for a single but also for multiple connectors.
  • the protective device further comprises at least a first half-cap and a second half-cap.
  • the term half-cap is initially not limited to certain geometric shapes, such. a spherical shape of the half-caps. Rather, the halfcaps can take any shape.
  • the half-caps also have connecting means with which the two half-caps can be connected to each other.
  • this connection is a detachable connection, so that the half-caps can be connected and detached from each other.
  • the connected half-caps form an interior space in which the connector or connectors can be accommodated, wherein the interior space has openings at least for the electrical leads of the connector (s).
  • the protection device has closing means, which convert one or more locking devices of the one or more connectors to be protected from a first unlocked to a second locked position when connecting the half-caps.
  • the protective device on the one hand a protection for the connector of the connector is provided and on the other hand with closed protective device, ie interconnected half-caps, a securely locked locking device exists or can be assumed. Since the protective device of the dimensions in its interior, ie in an interior formed by the half-cap interior, in any case is greater than a movable part of a locking device, so a lever or slide, an established connection of the two half-caps is in any case easier to examine optically and haptically Furthermore, the protection device has the advantage that it is less sensitive than the connector itself and can even be destroyed and replaced inexpensively, without having to renew an entire cable harness.
  • the half-caps have one or more openings with seals on their upper side. These openings with seals are configured such that in the connected state of the half-caps one or more plug housings or protective caps of the plug or of the plug connector or connectors to be protected are enclosed, in particular in a form-fitting manner.
  • openings with the seals serve, on the one hand, to provide access to an electrical supply line of the plug or of the plug itself to the interior of the protective device, but at the same time to prevent the penetration of dirt into the or soiling in the interior of the protective device.
  • these openings with the seals according to an embodiment are designed so that they enclose the housing of the plug form fit.
  • openings with seals are possible, which enclose a protective cap of the plug form fit.
  • Such protective caps are here protective caps, which are connected at the end of the plug, which is not connected to a socket, in particular on an existing there connector collar, at least in and against the insertion direction, tensile strength. Furthermore, the protective cap serves to receive one end of a corrugated tube. This corrugated pipe is also connected to the protective cap tensile strength. Usually, in the region of the end of the plug, which is thus covered by the protective cap, several contacts with electrical lines, e.g. by soldering, these bundled electrical lines then run bundled in corrugated tube also connected to the cap. Thus, this cap is the protection and strain relief of the connection points of the contacts of the plug and the electrical lines.
  • the half-caps in the region of the openings on their upper side guides are designed so that the half-caps when connecting in a collar of the plug housing or in a collar of the cap of the plug or in several collars of the connector housing or in several collars of the protective caps of the connector in the connecting direction of the half-caps are feasible. Furthermore, these guides are designed such that the half-caps in the connected state of the half-caps in at least vertical direction to the connecting direction fixed or tensile strength connected to the one or more plug housings or the one or more protective caps.
  • the half-caps in the connected state on one or more openings with seals on its underside is designed in such a way to enclose one or more base casings of one or more pedestals of the plug connector or connectors to be protected or a region in which the pedestal housing or housings are arranged, in particular in a form-fitting manner.
  • the opening with seal is therefore particularly suitable for plug-in connections with the already o. G. Sockets or plug sockets formed.
  • the opening is thus designed such that the seal either positively encloses the base or positively abuts the area around the base.
  • the closing means are designed such that when connecting the half-caps, one or more locking slides of the locking device or the Verriegetungsvorraumen or the connector to be protected transferred from an unlocked to a locked position or pushed.
  • the closing means are designed such that when releasing the connection of the half-caps one or more locking devices of the one or more connectors to be protected are transferred from a locked to an unlocked position.
  • the connected half-caps of a protective device which thus protect a plug connection, thus allow the special design of the closing means that the locking device is opened or unlocked when the connection of the half-caps is released.
  • the closure means designed in this way which also serve for unlocking, are designed to release one or more locking slides of the locking device or locking devices of the connector to be protected from a locked to an unlocked position upon release of the connection of the half-caps to pull or transfer.
  • a simple embodiment of the protective device is possible to unlock the o. G. Connectors with locking slides serve.
  • the connected half-caps are designed to be one or more connectors and the locking device or the locking devices of the one or more connectors to be protected in the interior of the connected half-caps take. Therefore, one or more connectors and their locking devices within the half-caps are protected from contamination by environmental and / or environmental influences.
  • the half-caps in the region of the openings on its underside guides, so that the half-caps can be performed when connecting in a collar of the base housing or in collar of the base housing in the connecting direction of the half-caps.
  • the guides are configured such that the half-caps can be firmly connected in the connected state of the half-caps in at least vertical direction to the direction of connection of the half-caps with the socket or sockets.
  • the half-caps are made of plastic and have at the opposite outer sides in the connecting direction of the first half-cap with the second half-cap straight surfaces and reinforcements.
  • Reinforcements are e.g. Struts, which are arranged in the interior of the housing.
  • these braces are arranged so that space for the protected or protective connectors and a locking and unlocking of the locking device or locking devices is ensured. This makes it possible that the joining of the half-caps in a simple manner due to the straight opposing outer surfaces is made possible while the protective device is not damaged, even at higher pressure exerted on the outer surfaces of pressure.
  • the connecting means are designed such that a manufactured connection can be released again only with special tools.
  • the connecting means comprise interlocking latching hooks on one or both of the half-caps and latching lugs or latching grooves on the other or both of the half-caps.
  • the protective device has a cover cap hingedly connected to one of the half-caps. Furthermore, the cover cap and the non-hingedly connected to the cover cap other half-cap further releasable connection means, which serve for connecting the cover cap and the other half-cap.
  • a lid cap serves as a substitute for the o. G. Protective cap of the plug, which protects the connections of the plug with the electrical lines, in particular the solder joints produced for this connection.
  • the further connecting means comprise snap-in latching hooks and latching noses. This allows a secure and firm locking of the lid cap in the other half-cap.
  • the cover cap and the other half-cap in the connected state have one or more openings for receiving at least one corrugated tube.
  • the opening or the openings have guides, latching noses or latching grooves for firmly connecting the corrugated tube (s) in the connected state of the cover cap and the other half-cap to the protective device.
  • one or more recesses are provided in the region of the opening or the openings of the cover cap and the other half-cap in the connected state, in order to allow a connection of several extending in the or in each of the corrugated pipes electrical cables with cable ties.
  • a strain relief is achieved since a load on individual connections or electrical lines is distributed to all connections or electrical lines.
  • the invention comprises a use of the protective device according to one of the above-mentioned.
