Description

The present invention relates to an isothermal package and an isothermal packaging process. The present invention relates more particularly to an isothermal packaging in the form of a box.

Such packaging finds its application, especially in the field of health (transport and storage of drugs, vaccines, organs, ...) but also in the food industry for packaging and / or packaging fresh products such as fish or seafood (shellfish, crustaceans, ...) as well as in any other field of application where the thermal insulation of the packaged product is necessary.

The traditional isothermal boxes are made with a parallelepiped structure resulting from the assembly of at least four side walls and a bottom.

This structure is generally of cellular material (such as expanded polystyrene) and is, admittedly, relatively light, but occupies a large volume empty which generates prohibitive costs of storage and transport to the place of use.

Moreover, there are crates possibly with isothermal properties and having a removable structure with separable walls and stackable for a flat transport.

Such boxes are described, for example, in the FR 07 60068 and the EP 2 412 640 of the plaintiff.

These boxes comprise a set of panels intended to be assembled reversibly to form a rectangular parallelepiped shaped structure, each panel having chamfered sides on which are formed at least one stop and at least one symmetrical housing complementary profile to said stop .

Each panel comprises at least two parallel cavities penetrating into said panel and opening each outwardly on at least one side of said panel via a lateral loading slot of a removable thermal element. However, the isothermal properties of this fund are insufficient because of the existence of many thermal bridges and taking into account the standards in force, particularly for the packaging of thermally sensitive products such as certain drugs and vaccines.
In particular, the air flow is not homogeneous and the cooling has neither the coverage nor the required efficiency because the cavities are insulated along their length by a spacer and do not intersect in the thickness of each panel.

In addition, its structure proves difficult to adapt to the variable conditions of temperature of the external environment in different seasons or climates.

Toutefois, aucun de ces panneaux ne comporte de cavité interne destinée à recevoir des éléments réfrigérants.discloses an insulated package in the form of a box comprising an inner lining consisting of the panel assembly. However, none of these panels has an internal cavity for receiving cooling elements.

The object of the present invention is to solve these technical problems satisfactorily and effectively by proposing an improved packaging offering a high thermal stability associated with a mechanically stable, resistant and compact structure.

Ce but est atteint selon l'invention au moyen d'un emballage isotherme présentant les caractéristiques de la revendication 1.This object is achieved according to the invention by means of an isothermal package having the features of claim 1.

According to the invention the respective cavities of the panels are connected together to form an air flow duct. According to an advantageous characteristic, the cavity extends along the median axis of the panel.

According to a specific variant, the assembly means of the panels comprise at least one stop and at least one symmetrical housing of complementary profile to said stop.

The thermal element is advantageously constituted by a cooling block containing a cryogenic substance and whose inner end has a frustoconical profile.
Another object of the invention is an isothermal packaging method, according to claim 7, of a sensitive product using the packaging defined above, characterized in that a refrigerant element is introduced into the cavity of the panels then assembles ledits panels to form a closed box in which the product was previously arranged.
The packaging of the invention makes it possible to offer an ergonomic and compact packaging of thermally sensitive products and, in particular, medicines and fresh products while guaranteeing good rigidity, enhanced stability and a mechanically resistant assembly of the structure.
Indeed, the cavities, which are occupied by thermal elements (refrigerant or heating), delimit double-partitions which reinforce the resistance to shocks.

The structure of the box and such that it can be easily made flat by molding, leaving handles, engravings or other internal imprint without undercut, which would not be possible with traditional cases because, in this case, they could not be ejected from the mold.
Moreover, this structure once deployed, assembled and locked is perfectly adapted to support individually both the load of packaged products and the overload constituted by the stack of several boxes of the same type without risk of accidental opening.

The notches and the blades ensuring the connection between the different panels are made in one piece with each panel.
In addition, these connecting elements are designed so that the orientation of the panels is obtained automatically and guided which greatly facilitates the mounting of the body.
Furthermore, in case of stacking, the weight of the upper boxes of the stack even participates in strengthening the lock by imposing additional mechanical stresses that consolidate the assembly of the panels with respect to the previous packaging structures.

L'invention sera mieux comprise à la lecture de la description qui va suivre, accompagnée des dessins sur lesquels ;
This results in a better hermeticity of the packaging and a reinforced thermal insulation.
Finally, once the body unfolded, the storage of the panels is compact which contributes to the reduction of logistics costs and especially transportation.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, accompanied by the drawings on which;
The Figures 1A and 1B respectively represent views in perspective and from above of an embodiment of the panel intended to form the body of the invention.

The Figures 2A and 2B represent perspective views of the packaging of the invention, respectively, during assembly of the panels and after closure of the body. The figure 3 is a schematic top and exploded view of an embodiment of the constituent panel of the package of the invention.

The Figures 4A and 4B represent variants of the constituent panel of the package, which are not according to the invention.
The packaging of the invention shown on the Figure 2B is in the form of a box shaped parallelepiped rectangle here comprising four side walls 11a and two other walls, respectively, a bottom wall 11b forming bottom and a top wall 11c forming a lid.
The shaping of this body results from the assembly, preferably manual, of a set of identical panels 1, one of which is illustrated by the Figures 1A and 1B .

The walls of the box thus delimit an internal compartment C ( Figure 2A ) in which a product is intended to be packaged.

The inner compartment C of the box can remain open and freely communicate with the outside or be closed, after packaging of the product, by the cover 11c (as shown on the Figure 2B ) also constituted by a panel identical to that of the Figure 1A or 1B .

Each panel 1 has four sides 1a, 1b, 1e and 1d each provided with assembly means with an identical panel or the like.
In the variant shown in the figures, the panel 1 is provided with a chamfer 13 oriented here at 45 °.
The panel 1 is here square but could be more generally made in rectangular form.
It would also be possible to provide that the chamfer has a different inclination of 45 ° in order to vary the geometry of the casing of the body.

On each side is provided at least one blade 12 forming a stop.

Each side comprises, in addition, at least one notch 14 of complementary profile to the stop 12.
This notch is intended to form a housing for the abutment 12 carried by one of the other panels 1 so as to allow their connection by mutual engagement in a modular and reversible manner.
For this purpose, the blades 12 and the notches 14 are placed in positions symmetrical with respect to the median plane of the side which carries them, as illustrated by the Figures 1A and 1B .

Both the stability of the connection between the panels, their rigging and the tightness of the body are ensured thanks both to the cooperation between the blades 12 and the notches 14 and to the mutual abutment of the chamfers 13 opposite the panels which are connected, as described in FIG. FR 0760068 .
Thanks to the elasticity of the cellular material, the assembly is tight and tight, which makes it possible to avoid the appearance of thermal bridges.
Of course, it would be possible to provide, according to variants not shown here, that the assembly of the panels is achieved by other means such as adhesives optionally reversible adhesion.
According to the invention, it is provided that the panel 1 has at least two cavities 10 intended to receive a removable refrigerant element R, shown schematically on the figure 3 .
This cooling element could, however, be replaced and / or associated with a heating element if the conditioning of the product required a higher temperature.
In the embodiment illustrated by the drawings, each of the sides of the panel 1 has an open cavity penetrating into the thickness of the wall of the panel 1.
This cavity 10 is here located between the abutment 12 and the housing 14.
Each cavity 10 opens out via a slot-shaped lateral opening 10a allowing the loading and unloading of the thermal element R.
The slots 10a are located in the center of the sides of the panel and the cavities extend along its median axis.

According to the invention all the cavities 10 communicate with each other, in the center of the panel forming a double wall on the central part of the panel.

The invention has the advantage of allowing air circulation in the cavities on the entire panel.
After assembling the panels, all the cavities 10 are connected together in a contiguous manner by facing their respective slot 10a. The duct delimited by the internal walls of these cavities over the entire envelope of the body thus forms a peripheral air circuit.
This duct is integrated in the thickness of the panels.

In the embodiment shown, the cavities extend perpendicular to the sides of the panel and the convective air flow duct then has a cross shape.
In this case, once all the panels assembled, the air circuit surrounds the body in the manner of a strapping.
As illustrated by Figures 1A, 1B and 2A , the wall 15 of the panel 1 which is intended to be oriented towards the inside of the box delimiting the compartment C, is flat.

On the Figure 4A , which is not according to the invention, the cavity 10 is located in the center of the wall 15 and is open towards the inside of the compartment C (after assembly of the panels).
The cavity 10 receives a block R whose dimensions coincide to ensure its retention by jamming. In this case, the respective cavities of each panel do not communicate with each other.

On the Figure 4B , which is not according to the invention, the cavity 10 is always formed in the wall 15 being open towards the inside of the compartment C in the manner of a groove. The cavity 10 is here through extending along the median axis of the panel and opens, on both sides, forming slots 10a on the chamfers 13.
The respective cavities of each panel then communicate with each other via the slots 10a.

According to one variant, some of the slots may be provided with a movable hood (not shown) so as to avoid a break in the thermal equilibrium at the places where the cavities open out, in particular when the body is not not intended to be closed by a sixth panel 11c cover.
The thermal element R may consist of a pad containing a cryogenic substance capable of producing a local cooling of the wall in contact with the product. The dimensions of this block are determined so as to allow it to slide in contact with the internal walls of the cavities 10.
Where appropriate, the block R is provided with retaining means in the cavity 10 in the form, for example, of latching members cooperating with complementary members provided on the inner walls of the cavity.

The inner end of the pavement here has a frustoconical profile ( figure 3 ) allowing the interlocking with the other pavers housed in the adjacent cavities and thus providing both a space saving and a wedging in the cavities.

The isothermal conditioning process of the invention consists firstly of introducing thermal elements R, for example, with cooling action, in the cavities 10 of each panel 1.
Then, the panels are assembled at 90 ° by forcibly engaging the blades 12 in the notches 14, the chamfered edges 13 and the slots 10a facing the panels then coming into mutual support and in coincidence.
This operation makes it possible to automatically connect the cavities 10 without the need for additional adjustment.
Before mounting the sixth and last panel 11C, the product is placed in the inner compartment C of the box and then the box is sealed and sealed.

The integral unit allows isothermal storage and transport of the product while offering enhanced protection against shocks.
