Definitions

• This invention relates to a stock for hunting rifles. Background to the invention It is well known that rifles produce recoil when fired and the larger the calibre, the more forceful the recoil. One effect of recoil is the rapid upward movement of the muzzle, called muzzle climb or muzzle jump. High muzzle climb results in the loss of view of the target, loss of control of the rifle, delays recovery time for a follow up shot, possible injuries, loss of confidence and in some cases flinching .
• the first step is to aim. During aiming the rifle stock is positioned by the shooter to enable him to look through the sights at the target. It is important to be able to position the rifle stock consistently in the same way every time to have the sights aligned with a shooter's eye.
• the next step is to sight. This is when the sights of the rifle are placed on the exact point on the target before firing the rifle. Further in this specification a rifle stock will be understood to include the features as shown in Figure 1. General description of the invention

• the heel of the butt is level or below the bore axis with a measurement of up to 11 mm below;
• the comb is at a downward angle out of the parallel with the bore axis from the heel to the nose of the stock.

• the high heel lowers muzzle jump and that the downward angle of the comb lowers the risk of injury since the rifle fitted with a stock in accordance with the invention will move back in line with the bore axis and will then move away from a shooters cheek.
• the parallax with a telescope rifle can be minimised by a person by moving his cheek along the comb to place his eye at the correct level to have a straight line of sigh through the telescope.
• the downward angle of the comb also allows the correct positioning of a person's head for a telescope and an open sight.

• the positioning and shape of the heel, comb and neck and grip area of the rifle butt assists a person to create a stable locked triangular hold onto the rifle and recoil forces force the person together with the rifle backwards without the rifle scope hitting the person's eye, yet allowing excellent gun control and follow through.

• the grip of the stock may preferably be curved to bring the hand and index finger of a shooter closer to the trigger and dimensioned to allow a relatively closed and strong grip for better trigger control.

• the grip may preferably also include a swollen area or bulge shaped to fit into the palm of the gripping hand for consistent aiming.
