Description

The present invention relates to the field of fire-resistant joints, especially fire-resistant joints for fire-resistant glazing, and relates to a fire-breaker in the form of a self-adhesive tape, particularly for fire-resistant glazing.

It is known that when mounting a fire resistant glazing in a window, it is necessary to place, in the rabbet or in the rebate base of the frame or the frame of the joinery receiving the glazing, a seal or a bottom of Fire-tight joint ensuring the tightness of the glazing and participating with the latter in the fireproofness of the window.

A fire-joint of this type is generally in the form of a ribbon, flexible and flexible, comprising two large opposite and parallel faces, namely a large front face and a large posterior face or back, between which large faces s' extends a core of fibrous material resistant to fire and usually made from synthetic mineral fibers such as ceramic fibers or mineral wools.

The core of the ribbon has two opposite sides parallel to the large opposite faces of the ribbon, namely an anterior side covered with a pre-positioned adhesive at the factory and a posterior side left free consisting solely of a fibrous surface of the material. soul of the ribbon. The adhesive is fixed by its internal face on the anterior side of the core and allows, by the adhesive power provided by its outer face, the tape to adhere durably to a support surface integrated in the joinery receiving the glazing, the endos then being applied to one side of said glazing. Furthermore, the outer face of the adhesive is covered, non-permanently, for its protection, by a film or protective paper fixed, by its inner face, removably on the outer face of said adhesive so that it can be removed before laying the joint.

Thus, with this type of joint, the back of the ribbon is formed by the posterior side of the core, that is to say directly by a surface of fibrous material, while the large front face of the ribbon, opposite to said endos, is formed by the outer face of the film or protective paper or, when the latter is removed, by the outer face of the adhesive.

In addition, for its presentation and handling for its installation, such a self-adhesive tape is wound on itself by forming a roll of tape where the outer face of the film or protective paper is applied, by simple contact, on the back of the ribbon.

On notera que ces joints sous forme de ruban possèdent généralement une largeur comprise entre 10 et 25 mm et une épaisseur de l'ordre de 2 à 6 mm.Note that these joints in the form of ribbon generally have a width of between 10 and 25 mm and a thickness of the order of 2 to 6 mm.

During the implementation of such a seal, the operator, in a first step, unwinds from the ribbon roll a given length of ribbon and then removes the film or protective paper to apply and adhere the outer face adhering the tape to the support surface concerned by exerting application pressure, including pressure and friction, with its fingers on the back, and thus directly on the surface of the fibrous material, in order to obtain a more effective seal to the support surface, then, in a second step, cut the tape to said desired length taking care not to cut the protective film.

This type of joint, however, has several disadvantages.

Firstly, because of the fibrous material, very friable, the ribbon core, during the laying of the seal, the application pressure exerted on the back, consisting exclusively of a surface of fibrous material, cause inevitably a separation or delamination of the fibers of said surface of fibrous material which, because of their volatility, are then likely to be inhaled by the operator, which is detrimental to his health and the permanent concern for the protection of the latter, in particular in accordance with current labor regulations.

On the other hand, when cutting the seal, the operator must be careful and careful not to cut the film or protective paper because, if necessary, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, when the recovery for a new application, to remove the film or protective paper without separating or delaminating the fibers constituting the fibrous material of the ribbon core.

Moreover, when handling the roll of tape for its installation, because of the release properties of the outer face of the film or protective paper and the surface of fibrous material constituting the backing, the latter tends to sliding on the outer face of said film or vice versa, which causes movements and lateral displacements of the roll ribbon turns which can not then be held in place on each other while standing between them. The operator is therefore confronted with each handling or handling of the roller to this problem that does not allow him to keep or maintain the roll in its rolled form, turn on turn. This then complicates the handling of the ribbon roll thus undone, increases the exposure time and forces the operator to rewind the ribbon of the undone roll for storage or to allow the laying of a new length of ribbon from of the roll.

The document DE 41 15 839 relates to a double-sided adhesive coating and sealing tape comprising a ribbon-shaped support consisting of a closed-pored foamed material with two mutually parallel edges and two outer faces, an adhesive applied to one of the outer faces of the support and bounded by a strip which extends along the edges and is contiguous thereto, and an additional strip of adhesive which is applied to the other outer face of the support being contiguous to the other edge. The two adhesive strips are narrower than half the width of the support and are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the length of the support. In addition, each adhesive strip has a strip of film whose width corresponds to the width of said adhesive strip and bears, on its side remote from the support, the adhesive.

However, a ribbon of the type described in this document DE 41 15 839 has a complex structure that also generates many assembly steps and does not allow a simple and fast assembly of the joint.

The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by providing a fire seal in the form of self-adhesive tape, especially for fire resistant glazing, allowing, on the one hand, to avoid or prevent, when handling , more particularly during its laying, the delamination or the separation of the fibers constituting the fibrous material of the core of said seal, while allowing, on the one hand, the durable maintenance in the wound or rolled state of the ribbon and by having a direct adhesive power, that is to say no longer requiring operations compelling the operator to remove a film or protective paper from the adhesive prior to the installation of said seal or, after its installation, to take care of not not to cut said film and, secondly by simplifying and reducing the number of assembly steps.

For this purpose, the firestop seal in the form of self-adhesive tape, according to the present invention, in particular for fire resistant glazing, said ribbon having two large opposite faces parallel to each other, namely a large anterior face and a large posterior face or endos, between which extends a core of fibrous material having two opposite sides parallel to said large faces, namely an anterior side covered by an adhesive whose outer face has an adhesive power allowing the tape to adhere durably to a support surface and a posterior side, is essentially characterized in that said rear side is permanently covered for its protection by a protective film whose outer face, forming the backing, is adapted according to said adhesive power to allow, in a wound state or tape roll, a temporary adhesion of the back to the outer face of the adhesive, said adhesive temporary erence being able to sustainably maintain said roll in its wound form and to allow, during the unwinding of the ribbon from said roll, the separation of said backing and of said external face of the adhesive, without suppressing or reducing the automatic power adhesive of the latter.

The figures show a fire-stop joint, according to the present invention, in the form of self-adhesive tape 1, in particular for fire-resistant glazing, said tape 1 having two large opposite faces parallel to each other, namely a large anterior face 1a and a large posterior face or end 1b, between which large faces extends a core 2 of fibrous material having two opposite sides 2a and 2b parallel to said large faces, namely an anterior side 2a covered by an adhesive 3, fixed by its inner face on the latter, and the outer face of said adhesive 3, opposite the latter, has an adhesive power allowing the tape 1 to adhere durably to a support surface 6 and a rear side 2b.

According to the present invention, the posterior side 2b of the core 2 is permanently covered, for its protection, by a protective film 4, fixed by its internal face on said rear side 2b and whose outer face, forming the 1b, opposite to said inner face, is adapted to allow, in a wound state or ribbon roll 1, a temporary adhesion of the back 1b to the outer face of the adhesive 3, said temporary adhesion being suitable or able, on the one hand, to sustainably hold said roll in its rolled form and, on the other hand, to allow, during the unwinding of the ribbon 1, from said roll, the separation of the backing 1b and the outer face of the adhesive 3 temporarily adhering to one another, without removing or reducing the adhesive or self-adhesive power of the latter allowing the tape 1 to adhere durably to the support surface 6 concerned.

In a preferred application of the fireproof joint according to the present invention, it can be seen on the figure 4 that the support surface 6 can be located in the rabbet or the rebate base of a joinery 7 receiving the glazing 5. More particularly, it can be seen on this figure 4 that two sealing tapes according to the present invention are each fixed on a support surface 6 which is integrated in the joinery 7. It can also be seen that the external face of the adhesive 3 of each seal is fixed, by durable adhesion, to the corresponding support surface 6 and the outer face of the protective film 4 is applied to one side of the glazing 5 located opposite the corresponding support surface 6.

It will be understood that the protective film 4 according to the present invention essentially provides the following functions:
  • the permanent protection of the posterior side of the soul 2,
  • protecting the large anterior face 1a adhesive ribbon 1 in the wound state or tape roll,
  • with the external face of the adhesive 3, in the state of the roll of tape, thanks to the temporary adhesion of the latter to the external face of the adhesive 3, the durable maintenance of the roll in its rolled form, that is to say with its turns held fixedly between them one on the other, in situation or not handling the roll.

It will be understood by temporary adhesion, according to the present invention, the outer face of the protective film 4 to the outer face of the adhesive 3, an adhesion to the separation of the latter by the operator during the unwinding of the roll.

Indeed, the protective film 4, which is in a way a contact and protection interface, provides additional protection to the operator, since the latter, especially when laying the seal on a support surface 6, then exerts an application pressure on the outer face of said protective film 4 ( figure 3b ) and no longer, as is the case with current joints ( figure 3a ), directly on the fibrous material of the core 2 'of the tape 1 by separating or delaminating the fibers of the latter.

Avec un joint 1 selon la présente invention, de section identique, la surface totale de matière fibreuse libre et apparente (figure 2b), réduite uniquement à la surface des faces latérales ou chants du ruban, est égale à 60 cm2/m.The total surface area of the fibrous material of the ribbon according to the present invention that can be contacted by the operator is therefore greatly reduced with respect to a joint 1 'of the prior art ( figure 2a ). By way of comparison, such a joint 1 'of the prior art, with a width equal to 15 mm and a thickness equal to 3 mm, leaves three faces of fibrous material likely to be in contact with the operator, namely a large face forming the back and two edges or side faces of the ribbon connecting the latter and the large front face comprising the adhesive 3 'covered with a film or protective paper 4', a total area of free and apparent fibrous material of the soul 2 'equal to 210 cm 2 / m. With a seal 1 according to the present invention, of identical section, the total surface area of free and apparent fibrous material ( figure 2b ), reduced only to the surface of the side faces or edges of the ribbon, is equal to 60 cm2 / m.

On the other hand, thanks to the protective film 4 according to the present invention, which is permanently attached to the posterior side of the core 2 ( figures 2b and 3b ) and which adheres, in the state of ribbon roll temporarily to the outer face of the adhesive forming the large anterior face of the ribbon to also ensure the protection of the latter, the operator is no longer brought or constrained, during the cutting operation of the tape 1 after the laying of the seal, as is the case for the joints 1 'of the prior art ( Figures 2a and 3a ), cut the latter taking care not to cut the protective film 4 '.

De préférence, le film protecteur 4, selon la présente invention, peut comprendre un support 8 présentant une face interne munie d'une masse ou couche adhésive 9 permettant sa fixation permanente sur le côté postérieur 2b de l'âme 2 et une face externe comportant un traitement anti-adhérent ou faiblement adhérent 10 permettant, à l'état de rouleau du ruban, l'adhérence provisoire de l'endos à la face externe de l'adhésif 3 (figure 2b).Preferably, the protective film 4, according to the present invention, may comprise a support 8 having an internal face provided with a mass or adhesive layer 9 for its permanent attachment to the rear side 2b of the core 2 and an outer face comprising an anti-adherent or weakly adhering treatment 10 allowing, in the form of a ribbon roll, the temporary adhesion of the backing to the external face of the adhesive 3 ( figure 2b ).

The support 8 may be a polyester support and the mass or adhesive layer may be preferably made from acrylic glue, or an emulsion, acrylic allowing in particular the lamination of the protective film 4 with the fibrous material of the core 2.

The protective film 4 may have, for example, a thickness of between about 12 and 36 microns and a temperature resistance of between 120 ° and 170 ° C. continuously.

Preferably, the adhesive 3 according to the present invention may be a double-sided adhesive comprising a non-woven support or a reinforcement, not shown, and having two adhesive inner and outer faces, the inner face having an adhesive capacity allowing the permanent fixing of the adhesive on the anterior side of the core 2 and the external face having an adhesive power allowing, on the one hand, the durable adhesion of the large anterior face 1a of the ribbon 1 to the support surface 6 concerned and, in the form of a roll of the tape 1 and, on the other hand, the temporary adhesion of the outer face of the protective film 4 to said external face of the adhesive 3. Each internal or external adhesive face may comprise a mass adhesive formulated preferably based on glue, or an emulsion, acrylic, preferably without solvent for a better respect of the environment.
