Claims (3)

  1. Sand dispenser for preventing train wheels from skidding, comprising a bell (10) designed to be embedded in a sand tank (1) attached under the body of the train and a piston (7) capable of performing an alternating up-and-down linear movement under the effect of a stream of compressed air, this piston consisting of two coaxial cylindrical seals (6) delimiting between their respective ends a ring-shaped volume in which a defined quantity of sand is trapped during the linear movement of the piston (7), a bottleneck (15) built into the bell allowing the passage of the sand from the tank (1) through to said volume when the piston (7) is in the high position, the piston transporting the sand contained in the volume in its downward movement into a cavity (16) located below the tank (1) and upstream from the dispenser, where a first compressed air source projects the sand onto the rail.
  2. Sand dispenser according to claim 1, characterised in that the piston (7) is controlled by a compressed air piston (11) which is completely isolated from the chamber in which the sand circulates and hermetically sealed, and therefore protected from the air and sand dust.
