Description

  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a storage unit.
  • In the general use of the dishwashers, the pre-washing, the main washing, the first rinsing, the second rinsing and the drying steps are respectively realized during the washing programs, and water is discharged at the end of each step in the washing cycle and clean water is taken into the machine from the mains for the next step. In the washing step, after washing is performed with cold water in the first phase, the heater is operated and the washing liquid is heated. The dishes washed during the rinsing step are first washed with cold water, then the temperature of the water is increased and the hot rinsing step starts. In the washing programs, high amount of energy is consumed during the steps where the water is heated.
  • In addition to the embodiment disclosed above, nowadays embodiments are known, wherein the rinsing water used during the hot rinsing step is stored in a storage tank in the machine in order to provide water and energy saving and then is used again. However, in these embodiments, in order that the water stored in the storage tank has sufficient hygienic features, solutions that cause additional costs and increase energy consumption are presented.
  • In the state of the art German Patent Document No. DE4004057 , a dishwasher is described, comprising a separate housing unit which acts as a recycling unit having an intermediate storage, a sterilization unit, a water control system, and a display and an operating unit.
  • In the state of the art Japanese Patent Document No. JP2005034373 , a dishwasher is described, comprising a storage unit having an additional heater for heating the rinsing water stored therein.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the water stored in the storage unit to be used in the next step has the desired hygienic storage conditions without requiring additional costs.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a storage unit wherein the rinsing water is stored to be used in the next washing step and a control unit that detects if the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit to be used in the next washing step, and when it is detected that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit, that adjusts the rinsing water temperature recorded in its memory to a temperature value higher than the rinsing water temperature in the case that the rinsing water is not transferred to the storage unit as much as a difference value recorded in its memory.
  • The user starts the washing cycle, after placing the items to be washed into the washing tub and loading the detergent into the appropriate compartment of the dishwasher. The user moreover uses auxiliary cleaning agents such as rinse aid in addition to the detergent in order to increase the washing efficiency of the dishwasher. When the washing cycle starts, the sensor controls the presence of rinse aid in the dishwasher and transmits the obtained information to the control unit.
  • In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a control unit that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a first temperature value recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit and upon receiving the information from the sensor that no rinse aid is present.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a control unit that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a second temperature value lower than the first temperature value as much as a first difference value recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit and upon receiving from the sensor the information that the rinse aid is present. Thus, the antibacterial and antimicrobial features of the chemical compounds contained in the rinse aids are benefited from and the rinsing water is enabled to be stored in the desired hygienic conditions in the storage unit by consuming less energy.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a control unit that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a third temperature value higher than the first temperature value as much as a second difference value recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit and upon receiving from the sensor the information that no rinse aid is present. Thus, by means of the rinsing water being transferred to the storage unit at a higher temperature value, the hygienic conditions of the rinsing water stored in the storage unit are provided to be improved.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a control unit that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a fourth temperature value lower than the third temperature value as much as a second difference value recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit and upon receiving from the sensor the information that the rinse aid is present. Thus, the hygiene-improving features of the surfactants contained in the rinse aid are benefited from and the rinsing water stored in the storage unit is provided to have the desired hygienic features by consuming less energy.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value is equal to the second difference value.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value is lower than the second difference value.
  • In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value is higher than the second difference value.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the control unit detects the dirtiness level of the items to be washed, placed in the washing tub and at the beginning of the washing cycle automatically starts the washing program having the storing step that provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit to be used in the next washing step.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the washing program having the storing step that, by means of the additional sensors disposed in the dishwasher, provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit to be used in the next washing step, is automatically started by the dishwasher at any step of the washing cycle. Thus, water saving and energy saving are automatically provided apart from the user intervention.
  • In the dishwasher of the present invention, the antibacterial chemical structures of the compounds contained in the rinse aids are benefited from, thus the rinsing water transferred to the storage unit to be used in the next washing step is enabled to be stored in the desired hygienic conditions by consuming less energy.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

  • The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a washing tub (2) wherein the washing process is performed and a storage unit (4) wherein the rinsing water is stored to be used again in the next washing step.
  • The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a control unit (5) that detects if the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step, and if the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4), that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a temperature value higher than the rinsing water temperature when the rinsing water is not transferred to the storage unit (4) as much as a difference value recorded in its memory (Figure 1).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises at least one sensor (3) that detects the presence of rinse aid. The user starts the washing cycle after placing the items to be washed into the washing tub (2). The sensor (3) detects the presence of rinse aid and transmits the information about the rinse aid presence to the control unit (5). Upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and receiving from the sensor (3) a signal that no rinse aid is present, the control unit (5) adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a first temperature value (T1) recorded in its memory.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (5) adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a second temperature value (T2) lower than the first temperature value (T1) as much as a first difference value (ΔT1) recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and upon receiving from the sensor (3) the information that the rinse aid is present. Thus, the antibacterial feature contained in the chemical structures of the compounds forming the rinse aids are benefited from and hence the rinsing water is provided to be stored at the desired hygienic conditions in the storage unit (4) by consuming less energy.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (5) adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a third temperature value (T3) higher than the first temperature value (T1) as much as a second difference value (ΔT2) recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and upon receiving from the sensor (3) the information that no rinse aid is present. Thus, the hygienic conditions of the rinsing water stored in the storage unit (4) are provided to be improved.
  • In another version of this embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (5) adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a fourth temperature value (T4) lower than the third temperature value (T3) as much as a second difference value (ΔT2) recorded in its memory upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and upon receiving from the sensor (3) the information that the rinse aid is present. Thus, the antibacterial features of the surfactants contained in the rinse aid are benefited from and the rinsing water stored in the storage unit (4) is provided to have the desired hygienic features at a lower temperature. Thus, energy consumption is decreased, providing energy saving.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value (ΔT1) is equal to the second difference value (ΔT2).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value (ΔT1) is lower than the second difference value (ΔT2).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the first difference value (ΔT1) is higher than the second difference value (ΔT2).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a control unit (5) that detects the dirtiness level of the items to be washed, placed in the washing tub (2) and that, at the beginning of the washing cycle, automatically starts the washing program having the storing step that provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, at any step of the washing cycle the control unit (5) automatically starts the washing program having the storing step that, by means of the sensor (3), provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step. Thus, energy saving is provided without requiring user intervention.
  • It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited by the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.

Claims (11)

  1. A dishwasher (1) comprising a washing tub (2) wherein the washing process is performed and a storage unit (4) wherein the rinsing water is stored to be used again in the next washing step, characterized by a control unit (5) that detects if the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step, and if the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4), adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a temperature value higher than the rinsing water temperature when the rinsing water is not transferred to the storage unit (4) as much as a difference value recorded in its memory.
  2. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by at least one sensor (3) detecting the presence of rinse aid in rinsing water.
  3. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 2, characterized by the control unit (5) that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a first temperature value (T1) recorded in its memory, upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and receiving from the sensor (3) a signal that no rinse aid is present.
  4. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 3, characterized by the control unit (5) that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a second temperature value (T2) lower than the first temperature value (T1) as much as a first difference value (ΔT1) recorded in its memory, upon detecting that the rinsing water is not to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and receiving from the sensor (3) a signal that the rinse aid is present.
  5. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 3, characterized by the control unit (5) that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a third temperature value (T3) higher than the first temperature value (T1) as much as a second difference value (ΔT2) recorded in its memory, upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and receiving from the sensor (3) a signal that no rinse aid is present.
  6. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by the control unit (5) that adjusts the rinsing water temperature to a fourth temperature value (T4) lower than the third temperature value (T3) as much as a second difference value (ΔT2) recorded in its memory, upon detecting that the rinsing water is to be transferred to the storage unit (4) and receiving from the sensor (3) a signal that the rinse aid is present.
  7. A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the Claims 4 or 5, wherein the first difference value (ΔT1) is equal to the second difference value (ΔT2).
  8. A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the Claims 4 or 5, wherein the first difference value (ΔT1) is lower than the second difference value (ΔT2).
  9. A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the Claims 4 or 5, wherein the first difference value (ΔT1) is higher than the second difference value (ΔT2).
  10. A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the claims above, characterized by the control unit (5) that, at the beginning of the washing cycle, automatically starts the washing program having the storing step that provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step.
  11. A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 9, characterized by the control unit (5) that, at any step of the washing cycle, automatically starts the washing program having the storing step that provides the rinsing water to be transferred to the storage unit (4) to be used in the next washing step.
