Abstract

A weaving loom (1), particularly for metallic, synthetic and similar fabrics, comprising a beater (2) actuated by a driven shaft (3), first and second main motors (4, 5) being adapted to actuate said driven shaft (3), at least one additional main motor (6) being provided that is adapted to actuate the driven shaft (3) in combination with the first and second main motors (4, 5).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a weaving loom, particularly for metallic, synthetic and similar fabrics.
  • As is known, for weaving a loom is normally employed which is constituted by a metallic frame that supports all the mechanisms; the warp threads unwind from the warp beam and slide on an oscillating thread carrier, exerting a certain pressure on it which determines, by way of the warp regulator, the automatic feeding of the warp itself with the required tension.
  • During the unwinding step, the warp threads are lifted in groups with a rhythm that depends on the type of weave to produce. The weft thread is inserted in the warp pack that is thus created, by means of an adapted device. With the threads raised (shed is open) or lowered (shed is closed), the beater of the loom, provided with a reed through the teeth of which the yarns pass, makes the weft slide toward the cloth-roll, and then returns to the primitive position. Thus all, or some, of the raised yarns are lowered or all, or some, of the yarns that were lowered are raised. At this new step a new weft is inserted which in turn is beaten up by the beater against the weft that was inserted previously. Therefore, weft after weft, the fabric with the desired weave is obtained.
  • The cams of the loom and the beater for the insertion of the weft are moved by a driven shaft, of which there is only one for the entire loom.
  • Currently, the conventional systems for moving looms are:
    • a single main motor fitted on one side or in the center of the loom, which is adapted to move the driven shaft;
    • two main motors, one mounted to the right and the other to the left of the loom, which are mutually mechanically connected and are adapted to mechanically actuate the driven shaft;
    • two servomotors which are connected to every single lever of the beater, and are not mutually mechanically connected. This last system is very complicated and expensive to implement, since a synchronization must be achieved between the two servomotors.
  • For large looms, the above solutions are not devoid of drawbacks which are due to the fact that the large driven shaft is subject to torsion and this involves losses of power and speed.
  • For large looms, the power and speed characteristics must be preserved as far as is possible in order not to compromise the proper operation of the loom.
  • The aim of the present invention is to provide a weaving loom in which the torsion and flexion to which the driven shaft is normally subjected can be substantially eliminated, to the advantage of the power and speed that can be obtained.
  • Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a weaving loom in which the loom is more stable and the power and forces at play are spread over a plurality of points.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a weaving loom that is highly reliable, easily and practically implemented and low-cost.
  • This aim and these and other objects which will become more apparent hereinafter are all achieved by a weaving loom, particularly for metallic, synthetic and similar fabrics, comprising a beater actuated by a driven shaft, first and second main motors being adapted to actuate said driven shaft, characterized in that it comprises at least one additional main motor that is adapted to actuate said driven shaft in combination with said first and second main motors.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the weaving loom according to the present invention, which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings wherein:
    • Figure 1 is a plan view from above of a weaving loom according to the present invention;
    • Figure 2 is a side view of the loom in Figure 1;
    • Figure 3 is a sectional view of Figure 1 taken along line III-III.
  • With reference to the figures, the weaving loom according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a beater 2 adapted to be driven in its movement by a driven shaft 3, a first main motor 4 and a second main motor 5 being arranged at the respective ends of the beater, in particular at the ends of the driven shaft 3.
  • At least a third main motor 6 is provided which is arranged centrally with respect to the first and second motors 4 and 5 or, in general, a plurality of second motors 4 and 5, which are adapted to spread the power and forces in play over multiple points along the driven shaft 3.
  • In substance, the invention uses three or more main motors, which are mutually connected, for the movement of the driven shaft 3 and thus of the beater 2.
  • The use of three or more main motors makes it possible to solve the problems of torsion and flexion of the driven shaft 3, thus rendering the loom more stable and maximizing the power and speed of the loom itself.
  • Each one of the motors is connected to the driven shaft 3 and their actuation is synchronized.
  • In practice it has been found that the loom according to the present invention fully achieves the set aim and objects, since it makes it possible to prevent problems of torsion and thus of flexion of the driven shaft due to the presence of three or more main motors.
  • The loom thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. Moreover, all the details may be substituted by other, technically equivalent elements.
  • In practice the materials employed, and the contingent dimensions and shapes, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
  • The disclosures in Italian Patent Application No. MI2013A000020 from which this application claims priority are incorporated herein by reference.
  • Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
