Description

A groove strip for mounting of a sheet unit
The present invention relates to an arrangement of a groove strip for the mounting of a sheet unit in a groove which has a bottom groove and a groove side for enclosing the edge region of the sheet unit. The bottom groove has a recess. The groove strip has a projection which extends past the recess in a mounting direction towards and further in towards the lower part of the groove side between the edge region and the bottom groove when the groove strip is mounted. The underside of the projection has a hook section which hooks into the recess for retaining the groove strip.
In designs of the type in question present on the market sheet units, such as glass sheets, insulating glass with groove strips, e.g. glazing strips, are secured in a groove in windows, doors, facades, etc. The groove strips are nailed, screwed or clamped fast in the groove. The sheet unit is then clasped with spacer elements to support the sheet unit in the groove around the edge region and create ventilation around the sheet unit. In the event of a burglary the groove strips can easily be loosened and the sheet unit removed. Spacer elements with a stop edge, which includes the edge region, are provided to make it difficult to remove the sheet unit in the event of a burglary. These elements do not secure the groove strip, which can easily be removed, which does not provide good protection against burglary since the insulating glass can be prized off. It is also an expensive, time-consuming procedure to secure the sheet unit firmly. The spacer elements must first be arranged around the edge region. The sheet unit must then be securely locked and finally the glass strip must be fixed. Wooden frames are often used to create the groove. In most cases the groove strips of plastic or wood must then be nailed fast, which creates visible nails, which are not attractive and which can easily be loosened in the event of a burglary. Many expensive, time-consuming operations are required to mount the sheet unit by this method. Furthermore, a traditional glazing procedure, with spacer elements in side, upper and loser sections, provides venting of cold air towards the edge region of the insulating glass, which impairs its heat insulating capacity and causes condensation in the form of so-called edge effects. According to patent application SE 8504812 an aluminium strip is shown, which encloses an insulating glass and which is then connected in a frame. This invention creates problems in that the aluminium profile must be mounted first and constitutes an interior cold bridge. The aluminium profile is expensive, complicated, difficult to mount and is unattractive because its outer groove must be deformed around a fulcrum when the insulating glass is mounted in it. The invention has a different object from this because it does not have a groove strip or glazing strip, but instead has two groove sides. The groove strip cannot be inserted towards the insulating glass, which is necessary to glaze a normal window, particularly a wooden window.
One object of the present invention is to eliminate the disadvantages inherent in the above-mentioned designs by providing the groove strip with a projection which has a hook section which hooks into the groove strip in a recess in the bottom groove to enable the groove strip to be securely locked. Thanks to the invention an arrangement has now been created which shortens the time for placing a sheet unit in a groove with a displaceable groove strip and which is automatically securely locked into the groove without the use of nails or screws. According to the invention the sheet unit, which may be a glass sheet, e.g. an insulating glass in the groove of a window, a door or a fagade, is mounted by means of groove strips, e.g. glazing strips, which retain the sheet unit in the groove. The groove is then provided with a bottom groove, which expands across the side of the groove, which expands in parallel with the expansion area of the sheet unit. The bottom groove has at least one recess arranged in it or is smooth. The groove strip has a projection in its lower section, which extends past the recess in a mounting direction towards the lower section of the groove side in parallel with the bottom groove. When the groove strip is securely mounted, the projection is located between the edge region and the bottom groove. The actual retention of the of the groove strip is achieved by the use of a hook section provided on the underside of the projection or on the bottom of the groove strip, which hook section is moved into the recess when inserted, or hooks into the smooth bottom groove, if it is a bottom groove which has a grooved surface or is made of a softer material, e.g. wood, when the groove strip is fully pressed in and springs down into the recess and securely locks the groove strip. Both the groove side and the groove strip have recuperating packings against the sheet unit, e.g. packings of rubber or plastic, expanding across the bottom groove. When the hook section has sprung down into the recess, the packings are slightly compressed against the mounting direction, the packings pressing the hook section against one edge of the recess, e.g. an elongated duct which is U- shaped. Here the hook section presses without play against the inside of the outer leg of the U situated closest to the groove strip. The bottom of the groove strip is then pressed against the bottom groove as if it were nailed. The projection has a thickness of approx. 2 - 8 mm and a length that corresponds approximately to the length of the groove bottom in the mounting direction between the lower section of the groove strip and the groove side. The bottom of the groove strip is approx. 10 - 50 mm and its height, and the height of the groove side, is approx. 10 - 40 mm.
In order to mount and retaining the glazing strip and the insulating glass, this is carried out according to a method in which, in a first stage, the groove side and the glazing strip are provided with packings. In a second stage the insulating glass is then placed in position in the groove of the frame, which lies on a base in a horizontal position with side sections, an upper section and a bottom section. In a third stage the glazing strips are then securely mounted by inserting the projection in its mounting direction between the edge region and the bottom groove to such a depth that the packings are compressed slightly against the expansion surfaces, whereupon the hook section extends down into the recess and securely locks the glazing strip in this position.
The invention is described closer below by means of some preferred embodiments with reference to the attached drawings, in which Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross-section through the side section/upper section of a wooden frame, which sections have a glazing strip with a projection which is extruded in one piece,
Fig. 2 shows a vertical cross-section through a side section/upper section of a wooden frame, where the glazing strip has a number of projections made of thin sheet metal or plastic, and
Fig. 3 shows a vertical cros s - s ect i on through a side section/upper section of a wooden frame, where the glazing strip has a projection which is arranged in a spacer element with a hook section .
As seen in Figure 1, a frame 24 of wood is shown which has a groove strip 3, which retains a sheet unit 1 in the form of an insulating glass 15 in a groove 2, which has a groove side 5, which is parallel with one expansion surface 22 of said sheet unit 1. A bottom groove 4 comprises a recess 7, which is parallel with an edge region 6 of said sheet unit 1. The groove strip 3 has a projection 8, the underside of which has a hook section 9 which springs down into a recess 7 to retain the groove strip 3. The groove side 5 and a side of the groove strip 3, facing towards sheet unit 1, has packings 20 which recuperate against both expansion surfaces 22 of the sheet unit 1. The recess 7 is an elongated duct 11 which extends around the edge region 6 and the insulating glass 15 in the longitudinal direction of the groove 2. The recess 7 is formed as an "U" 23. The hook section 9 is then located in said "U" 23 and presses against the inside of its outer leg, which is located closest to the groove strip 3. A bottom 10 of the groove strip 3 is then pressed against the bottom groove 4. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the groove strip 3 consists of a glazing strip 16, which is manufactured together with the projection 8 and the hook section 9 as an extruded plastic strip 12 in one piece, so that it can be cut into preselected lengths. The projection 8 in this case has support portions 25, which provides support under the insulating glass 15 for each glass against the bottom groove 4. This means that the support portions 25, which have supporting surfaces 17, replace a clasping or spacer element function, the clasping being achieved automatically when the glazing strip 16 is mounted, which means that loose clasps need not be premounted before the glazing strip 16 is mounted, which saves material and work time. A distance is created between the supporting surfaces 17 on the bottom groove 4, when the hook section 9 is arranged in the groove 2, by a recuperating layer 19 located there, which layer is approx. 1 - 3 mm thick and arranged between the supporting surfaces 17. This enables ventilation ducts 18 to be created there, since the hook section 9 securely locks the groove strip 3 in the duct 11. The ventilation ducts 18 are provided to remove moisture from around the edge region 6 and moisture in the groove 2. In the preferred embodiment of the invention the side sections and the upper sections in arches and frames 24 are provided with glazing strips 16 with projections 8. The lower section is then provided with an ordinary, vented glazing strip 16, which has air contact from its outside. Insulating glass 15 then rests on normal spacer elements 13, which create a venting arrangement, which is in contact with the ventilation ducts 18 in the side sections and the upper section. The projection provides a heat insulating effect around edge region 6.
As can be seen in Fig. 2, a variant of the invention is shown in which groove strip 3 has a number of projections 8 distributed along its length, said projections are provided with a recuperating projection 8, which is made of sheet metal or plastic and secured in the lower section of the groove strip 3. The projection has said hook section 9, which is a recuperating, obliquely downward directed tongue, which is able to spring into the duct 11. The projections 8 are in this case inserted between the spacer elements 13.
As seen in Fig. 3, a third variant of the invention is shown in which the groove strip 3 has a number of short projections 8, which are made of sheet metal or plastic, for example, and which are secured in the lower section of the groove strip 3 at predetermined distances from each other. After the insulating glass 15 has been mounted in the groove 2 by means of a number of spacer elements 13, which support edge region 6 around the groove 2, projections 8 are securely connected or coupled in coupling parts 14 located on one side of the spacer element 13 close to the groove strip 3. The spacer elements 13 in this case have the recuperating hook section 9 on its underside.
