Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for operating a production line for the production and consolidation of printed products according to claim 1. It also relates to a production line for the production and consolidation of printed products according to claim 17.
  • the products produced in a digital printing press are first longitudinally cut, then laterally cut and folded in a subsequent processing station. They are then put together in so-called product formations.
  • the order of the products within these formations corresponds to the logistical sequence, which is determined in the subsequent insertion process by a superordinate control.
  • intermediate storage intermediate buffering
  • the product information is buffered in a buffer.
  • the type of intermediate storage (intermediate buffering) with regard to the product formations depends on the processing of the printed products according to the DDM; for example, they can be packages, rods or rolls.
  • the printing process is decoupled from the further processing in a known manner, wherein the insertion process begins after a difference time calculated by the superordinate control.
  • the product formations are supplied in any order according to the specifications of the feed-in sequence specified by the higher-level controller.
  • the structure of the infeed also depends on the type of product formations.
  • the missing supplement can not be taken from another product formation of the intermediate buffering, as this would generate another error.
  • control of the system is arranged so that the supply of the receiving pockets can be maintained by a conveyor line provided in addition to the given conveyor line, if it turns out that a troubleshooting is needed.
  • the invention aims to remedy this situation.
  • the invention as characterized in the claims, the object is to propose an efficient solution in the production and consolidation of printed products, which is to be created in the case of a detected error or lack of a printed product in the course of such production remedy, under the premise in that the proper operation of the production line is not detrimentally affected during such troubleshooting, even if the print product to be replaced is part of an end product consisting of several printed products.
  • a method for operating a production line for the production of finished printed products, in which the production line is in operative connection with a superordinate controller, the production line having at least one printing machine whose printing process is designed to produce printed products of different contents.
  • At least one first intermediate buffering (also called main buffering) is operated, which generally consists of several product formations, downstream of which at least one processing station operates in the form of a plug-in machine equipped with receiving pockets in which the printed products are processed to finished printed products become.
  • the controller issues at least one command to the printing machine or to a second intermediate buffer to reprint or print the defective printed product. to deliver the missing printed product by call.
  • such a printed product is then transported via an autonomous conveyor line, a so-called “almost lane", directly to the receiving pocket or point of the processing station, which is afflicted with a product-related deficit. promoted the inserter and implemented there.
  • This autonomous conveyor line has at least one bypass section, which is available as needed complementary to the elimination of printed product-related errors.
  • the printed products to be delivered are retrieved from a second intermediate buffer, and in this context it is important to provide that these printed products can be delivered detached from the product formations within the first intermediate buffer. This could, for example, be organized so that a certain number of printed products are available separately in the second intermediate buffering in order to ensure at best a redundant provision instead of a reprinting of faulty printed products.
  • the essential advantage of the invention is to be seen in the fact that the autonomous production line according to the invention has great flexibility in order to be able to absorb occurring errors in the printing process or in the downstream production process with accused printed products without having to intervene restrictively on the continuous production of the inserter ,
  • a further significant advantage of the invention is further to be seen in that the autonomous conveyor line can also be in operative connection with the second intermediate buffering, whereby this intermediate buffering is able to directly and directly supply missing printed products for the completion of the finished print product to be formed in the inserter ,
  • the autonomous conveyor line for the production of post-produced or subsequently supplied printed sheets, also called inserts is concerned, it is, on the one hand, in operative connection with the printing press and, on the other hand, with the receiving pockets belonging to the processing station (inserting machine) whose contents are directly affected by a printed product-related error.
  • the autonomous conveyor line in several printing machines or processing stations has a comprehensive flexible design, so that they can intervene at any time occurring errors in the operation of such production lines, bearing in mind that also different processing stations can operate sequentially.
  • the processing of the printed products into finished printed products within the production line comprises various processing steps, which generally begin with a format-dependent separation operation of the contents continuously printed on paper webs, ranging from folding operations to merging the various printed products into a booklet or partial booklet.
  • the print product-related plug-in operation plays a central role within the production line plays an important role in ensuring the timing of the delivery of printed products from the printing process and / or the first intermediate buffering.
  • the kinematics also play an important role in the operation of the receiving pockets during the insertion operation when it comes to integrating the post-produced or subsequently supplied printed products into the printed products already accommodated in a receiving pocket. Such a troubleshooting can be preferably carried out only when loading the receiving pocket, because if the printed products in the wake of their assembly still go through stapling or Glue operations, then there is no more room to act on the composition of the finished print product or partial print product corrective.
  • the autonomous conveyor line is thus in operative connection with the operation of the receiving pockets, whereby they must be operable both for the original loading and for the targeted removal of missing printed products.
  • the receiving pockets themselves must therefore be designed in such a way that they are suitable for being able to receive a post-produced or subsequently delivered printed product in a targeted and faultless manner.
  • the repair process which both the printing machine resp. the second intermediate buffering as well as the autonomous conveyor line, as well as the receiving pockets may be operationally operated, is guided by said superordinate controller, which ensures that the interdependent sequences of the various components in relation to the post-produced or subsequently delivered printed product coincide in time and in place.
  • the inserter can be constructed as a pocket chain, the inserter can also consist of several parallel or serially arranged pocket chains.
  • the inserter can also consist of a rotating conveyor organ.
  • the inserter In both cases, ie with regard to a pocket chain or a rotating conveyor member, the inserter consists of a certain number of scheduled receiving pockets, which are arranged along the pocket chain or in the direction of rotation of the rotating conveyor member, and recurrently start to promote printed products.
  • this period of time by the controller as inoperatively qualified insufficient it switches to a substitute option, which consists in that the post-produced or redelivered printed product is introduced in temporal and local conformity in the respective receiving pocket at a next cycle of the inserter, which then on Further corrective interventions can be dispensed with.
  • the controller may also provide that the supply of the receiving pockets can be intertemporarily maintained by switching from a product formation belonging to the first intermediate buffer to another product formation, if it turns out that neither the post-production nor the subsequent delivery of printed products via the autonomous conveyor line can be timely.
  • the printing process can consist of two or more printing machines, which produce parallel or intertemporarily, wherein the autonomous conveyor line is in operative connection with the one and / or the other printing machine, and wherein by preferably mechanically and / or electrically and / or fluid operable switch is achieved that the autonomous conveyor line can be alternately supplied from both the one and the other printing press with printed products.
  • the first intermediate buffering and possibly also the second intermediate buffering are caused by the same printing machine continuously or intermediately, i. as required, be loaded with printed products.
  • the entire content of the printed product is printed in a sequential sequence along a paper web, whereby the paper web can be printed on one or both sides. Subsequently, the printed product is further processed in a processing station 11, on the assumption that the width of the paper web coincides at least with a first format extent of the finished printed product.
  • DDM digital printing press
  • a basic, but not exclusive, treatment of the products delivered from the DDM involves a first severing operation which forms a length of cut transverse to the longitudinal direction of the paper web which is a multiple of a second size stretch of the finished printed product.
  • the section length thus obtained is folded transversely at least once by means of at least one folding means, and at least one partial web having a width corresponding to the first format extension of the finished printed product is formed on the so-folded printed product by at least one separating operation in the longitudinal direction of the paper web, whereby here a procedure underlying, which is characterized by a separation / folding / separating.
  • the printed products 10 thus obtained are then passed over a conveying path 7 and stored in a first intermediate buffer 5 to product formations 5a-5c.
  • the order of the products within these product formations corresponds to the logistical sequence of the subsequent insertion process, this sequence being determined by a higher-level controller 1.
  • the first Eisenbufftation 5 also have at least one product formation 5a-5c, which consists of non-folded printed products.
  • the product formations 5a-5c belonging to the first intermediate buffer 5 are preferably formed for a continuous supply of a plug-in machine 4 (also called ESM for short) used.
  • ESM plug-in machine 4
  • the insertion operation begins after a difference time between the time required during the printing process in the DDM 2 and the required time component for the insertion operation itself along the insertion machine 4 calculated by the superordinate control 1.
  • the printed products or product packages stored in the product formations 5a-5c - which can be provided in any desired number-become correspondingly the requirements of the parent control 1, ie in accordance with the specified order, retrieved, and passed over a conveyor line 7a to a feed station 9, from where the printed products are then forwarded to the inserter 4.
  • this feed station 9 Upstream of this feed station 9 is the inserter 4, i. their receiving pockets 4a, at the same time for receiving other printed products, main product 3a (also called HP for short) and intermediate product 3b (also called VP for short), which in turn can be converted in the inserter 4 to a composite partial end product.
  • main product 3a also called HP for short
  • intermediate product 3b also called VP for short
  • the introduction of said HP 3a and VP 3b into the respective receiving pocket 4a can be carried out by an active or inactive opening of this pocket, with the HP 3a generally serving to receive at least one VP 3b.
  • the first VP can take over the function of a sub-HP for a subsequent sub-VP, wherein a plurality of VP next to each other can form a stack within the HP.
  • the receiving pockets 4 a belonging to the ESM 4 are preferably equipped with holding devices, which prevent them from falling out of the products introduced there in a certain order, in particular when the ESM is a rotary conveying element.
  • Such a holding device makes sense even when it comes to provide the composition of the individual printed products in a particular order, regardless of which conveyor organ is used here.
  • the HP and VP are in any case supplemented or combined with printed products from the first intermediate buffering 5, care must be taken to ensure a tact-compliant provision of all printed products.
  • the printed products from the intermediate buffer 5 are fed in, they are supplied in a timely manner with the internal cycle of the ESM, since the feeding of the station 9 takes place from a self-sufficient supply station (intermediate buffering 5).
  • the finished product be printed by HP, VP and formed from printed products from the DDM, their merger must also be clocked.
  • the printing press 13 provided for the production of the HP 3a and VP 3b proceeds more slowly with the subsequent processing of these printed products, for example by introducing a fold, compared to the cyclic insertion process in the inserting machine, it may be due to the printing process itself or due to the cycle speed of the printing process Insertion process, so these products should also be stored in an intermediate buffer not shown in detail.
  • an autonomous conveyor line 8 a so-called “fast lane”, is now provided to remedy the error, via which missing print products can be supplied as required without having to interfere with the operation of the production line 100.
  • controller 1 By the controller 1 is caused that the now missing supplement, marked in the figure with position 12, immediately reproduced in the DDM 2, and if necessary, in the processing station 11 is also processed the same.
  • this post-produced insert 12 does not now take the path via the first intermediate buffering 5 in attack, but it is on this autonomous conveyor line 8, "almost lane", passed directly to the insertion machine 4, where the faulty insertion pocket 4a through this insert then is supplemented. This also applies, as will be explained in more detail below, when the missing insert 12a is brought from a second intermediate buffer 16.
  • the finished product is fed to a finishing station 6 after its completion.
  • control intervenes to avoid waiting times and subsequent disturbances in the introduction of the printed products into the inserting machine 4 that mode of operation, which offers case-specific assurance for the most secure delivery of the missing printed product.
  • the controller 1 command give that the nachzuturide print product is taught from or from a first of the first Eisenbuff ceremonies 5 completely detached second Eisenbuff ceremonies 16.
  • This second intermediate buffer 16 must then be equipped so that the delivery of a nachzuturiden print product 12a on the "almost lane" 8 is possible at any time and can be done without delay.
  • the controller 1 may also internally schedule that the feed of the inserter 4 is switched from the product formation 5a-5c affected by the occurred defect to another product formation within a first intermediate buffer 5 in operation, for example from 5a to 5b or 5c, to the nachzuticde supplement 12 or 12 a can be done on the "almost lane" 8.
  • the controller 1 can also be programmed so that in connection with the inserter 4, a mode of operation can be provided in which the subsequently introduced in the composite of printed products insert 12 or 12a can be made in the respective receiving pocket 4a at the next cycle of the inserting machine 4.
  • This provision can always be advantageously retrieved if the time intervals for a subsequent production of the supplement or its retrieval from an operating second temporary buffer 16 would certainly not be sufficient, or if the feeding of the insertion station 4 by a change from one product formation to another within the first in-service buffering 5 appears inappropriate. It is therefore stated that the intermediate buffers 5, 16 can be present multiple times.
  • This "repair” can proceed in such a way that it does not have to take into account the internal order or structuring of the printed products within a receiving pocket 4a.
  • the missing supplement is simply replenished during a subsequent cycle of the inserting machine via the "almost lane" 8, so that the relevant incompletely loaded receiving pocket 4a, which is then in conformity with the clock in transfer position, can be loaded.
  • the receiving pocket 4a loaded with an incomplete package arrives at the receiving location provided for it, the imitation insert 12 or 12a in FIG the receiving pocket are introduced.
  • the subsequent receiving pocket operating in the composite can then be loaded properly with supplements from the first intermediate buffer 5.
  • this "repair" for the affected receiving pocket 4a can not be carried out at the next following cycle of the inserting machine 4, then the "repair” is carried out at the next but one or at a later stage of the inserting machine 4. As long as such a receiving bag is therefore still incomplete loaded, so could not be loaded with the / specifically missing insert / supplements, the autonomous conveyor line 8, so "almost lane", can be used for other promotions.
  • the printed products of a finished print product then have a specific sequence, then they can be easily achieved in a single supplement by appropriate activation of the support elements in the receiving pocket.
  • the troubleshooting can be accomplished advantageously over the "almost lane" 8 compared with the inserts to be introduced, which must be delivered depending on the final order of the finished product. If, for example, two supplements have to be introduced according to a predetermined sequence, and the first supplement 12, 12a can be temporarily neither produced by post-production nor by subsequent delivery, the controller 1 orders to stop the introduction of the second supplement until the first supplement for the affected receiving bag 4a can be delivered via the "almost lane" 8.
  • the "almost lane” 8 can advantageously be further developed in such a way that it has at least one connected bypass section 15 on which the inserts to be introduced later can be kept temporarily in the waiting position.
  • any troubleshooting of a package with two or more supplements can be achieved, even if these supplements must be inserted into the receiving pocket 4a in a predetermined order.
  • inserting the supplements may be carried out both on the "almost lane" 8 and on the bypass section (s) 15 directly in cadence or indirectly via a pre-arranged packaging.
  • bypass line 15 allows the "almost lane" 8 to implement the punctual formation of finished packages with a diverging number of inserts compared to a production of packages of monotonically identical composition, which is particularly advantageous. if individualized printed products are to be produced.
  • An "almost lane” 8 with at least one bypass section 15 also has the advantage that initially the original purpose and use of the "almost lane” 8 remains unaffected, while the bypass section 15 itself is used for a number of additional functions can.
  • bypass routes are provided in relation to the "almost lane" 8, then these can be arranged in series and / or subsequent and / or quasi-subsequent to one another.
  • a downstream bypass section branches off from an upstream bypass section and, downstream of this branch, is reintroduced into the upstream or into one of the upstream bypass sections.
  • the same “almost lane” 8 can be used in terms of troubleshooting in the manufacture and introduction of HP and VP in the inserter; if necessary, according to this principle, another autonomous “almost lane” is provided, which is then available exclusively for HP and VP.
