Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an Alpine ski binding stop and a fastening system equipped with such a stop.
  • the invention relates, more particularly, to specific arrangements of the abutment before the fixing of safety shoes on a ski to make it compatible with various equipment.
  • the front stop of the known fastening systems comprises, in particular and essentially, a base for mounting on the upper face of the ski and a body provided with a movable jaw intended to engage with the front part of a boot being supported. by a substantially vertical pivot articulated on a longitudinal tie cooperating with a return spring.
  • the jaw consists of two symmetrical arms that are pivotally movable independently of one another.
  • the tip of the shoe When donning, the tip of the shoe is housed in forced support in the jaw causing its slight rise by pulling on the tie rod and precompression of the spring.
  • the ski boots have a thick sole whose front part has a flange. protruding called sidewalk that comes to engage and stall in the jaw.
  • this sidewalk presents, whatever the brand of the shoe, a standard height of the order of 20 mm (Alpine standard ISO 5355).
  • the front stops of mountaineering systems for alpine skiing are all designed to adapt to this dimension that has become standardized.
  • the objective of the invention is therefore to solve this technical problem of incompatibility by offering a system of fastener provided with means of adjustment of the front stop which allow to adapt, manually, simple and secure, both alpine ski boots and hiking shoes.
  • a stop characterized in that said pivot carries at least two stop elements cooperating with an internal stop wall formed on said body, said stop elements taking, by rotation of the pivot on it. same, distinct angular positions corresponding to strokes of said jaw amplitudes, respectively, short and long in the vertical direction, said pivot having a travel in the vertical plane corresponding to a tilting upwards or downwards of said jaw thus enabling it to be adapted to different sidewalk heights as well as various shoe sole profiles.
  • the pivot is accessible from the outside.
  • one of said abutment elements consists of a spacer formed of a roller having, on its periphery, at least two bosses corresponding to strokes, respectively, low and high of said jaw.
  • the two bosses constitute two abutment elements.
  • a first boss has a thickness and / or a length such that the support of said boss on the inclined wall of the facing body corresponds to the end stop of the low stroke of said jaw.
  • a second boss has a thickness and / or a length such that the spacer escapes said wall at least at the end of the upper stroke of said jaw.
  • the articulation between the tie rod and the pivot is made by engagement of said pivot in an eyelet formed at the rear end of said tie rod.
  • the dimensions of the eyelet are greater than the section of the pivot to allow its movement.
  • the section of said pivot has an asymmetrical narrowing at its articulation with said tie rod.
  • the pivot has an enlarged head ensuring the vertical wedging of one of the abutment elements and a groove allowing its rotation by screwing.
  • the head is asymmetrical and comprises a ring intended to abut against flank faces of the jaw and the body.
  • the jaw comprises two symmetrical arms each mounted on said pivot via two bearings, respectively, upper and lower and, in this case, one of said stop elements consists of one of the upper bearings.
  • the extreme high position of the longest stroke corresponds to the abutment of one of the upper bearings against the stop wall.
  • the body has, under the stop wall, an internal shoulder capable of retract in contact with the upper bearing end of the upper stroke of said jaw.
  • the spacer has a central bore provided with locking means in rotation of said pivot.
  • the stop wall is oriented downwards and forwards and has a concave curvature.
  • Another object of the invention is a fastening system comprising a front stop whose jaw is carried by a pivot capable of taking at least two angular positions corresponding to low and high races of adjustment of the jaw adapted respectively to ski boots. alpine and hiking boots.
  • the attachment of the invention offers skiers the possibility of practicing downhill skiing or ski touring by modifying the adjustment of the front stop to adapt to the type of shoes corresponding to the selected ski mode.
  • the invention therefore allows the skier to overcome a total change of equipment, without the security of the binding being compromised or degraded in any way.
  • the arrangements of the front stop are intended to allow a precise and easy manual adjustment of the binding by any person and, in particular, the skier himself, depending on the type of shoe (alpine or hiking) he wants to use.
  • the adjustment operation consists of modifying the configuration of the mechanical connection means of the jaw to the body of the stop so as to increase the amplitude of the vertical stroke of the jaw during the boot.
  • This adjustment operation is carried out quickly by means of a simple screwdriver, if necessary with the possibility of permanently viewing the result obtained and, in particular, the position of the jaw relative to the sidewalk of his shoes and the clamping force.
  • the abutment of the invention shown in the figures is intended to equip fixing systems for ski boards S. This stop is provided with adjustment means for adapting it to both alpine ski boots and ski touring boots.
  • base E for mounting on the ski and a body C supporting a movable jaw 1 for engaging with the sidewalk T of a shoe.
  • base and body can be made in one piece or in independent form.
  • the jaw 1 is carried by a pivot 2 extending substantially vertically.
  • This pivot 2 is in articulated connection with a longitudinal tie L equipped with a return spring R, here helical, arranged longitudinally in the body, around the tie L.
  • the pivot 2 is fixed and wedged vertically at its lower end by a punch or an axial punch P integral with the jaw 1 ( figure 2 ) while maintaining its freedom of rotation on itself.
  • the jaw 1 is thus connected to the body C only thanks to the articulated connection between the tie L and the pivot 2.
  • the jaw 1 is formed of two symmetrical arms 1a, 1b.
  • Each of the arms 1a, 1b is mounted on the pivot 2 via two respectively upper bearings 10a, 10b and lower 11a, 11b.
  • the first arm 1a is carried by the bearings 10a, 11a while the second arm 1b is carried by the bearings 10b, 11b.
  • the difference between its bearings is identical. If a predetermined stress level is exceeded by setting the spring R, the two arms are thus capable of pivoting radially outwards about a substantially vertical axis.
  • the threshold of constraints for triggering pivoting is adjustable to adapt to both the weight of the skier and his ski level. This threshold is usually reached in the event of a fall of the skier who then releases almost instantaneously.
  • the pivoting causes the opening of one of the arms of the jaw 1 and releases the right of way of the sidewalk to allow ejection of the shoe.
  • the arms can also pivot upwardly about a substantially horizontal axis passing through the connection between the pivot and the tie rod.
  • connection between the tie rod L and the pivot 2 is made by engagement of the rod 21 of the pivot 2 in an eyelet A formed through the tie rod in the vicinity of its rear end.
  • the section of the pivot 2 has a necking 20 which extends below and above its connection section with the tie rod L. This shrinkage is therefore always positioned in the eyelet A regardless of the relative angular position of the pivot and pulling.
  • the tie L is always inclined downwards and forwards.
  • the profile of the eyelet A is substantially cylindrical and its diameter is greater than that of the section of the rod 21 of the pivot 2 on the height of its necking 20.
  • the shrinkage 20 has, meanwhile, a concave hyperbolic profile forming a guide surface for the sliding movement of the pivot 2 in the eyelet A.
  • the section of the necking is asymmetrical and its radius r1, r2 varies from 1.5 to 3 mm between its central part which is the narrowest and its upper and lower ends which correspond to the full diameter of the rod 21 (in dotted lines on the Figure 5B ).
  • the eccentricity of the section of the necking 20 is designed such that its smaller radius r1 is located on the same side as the boss 31 of the spacer 3.
  • the shrink 20 is positioned in the eyelet A so that its small radius r1 is located at the rear of the pivot 2, in the hiking position of the stop.
  • the thickness of the pivot relative to its central axis in the area of the eyelet A is lower on the rear side than on the front side. The movement of the pivot and the concomitant movement of the jaw upwards can thus be effected by limiting the compression of the spring R.
  • the height of the necking varies on its periphery and is between 3 and 8 mm, its greatest height being located at the right of the first boss 31 of the spacer.
  • the diameter of the eyelet is between 5 and 7 mm to ensure a displacement of the pivot, relative to its rest position, in a range of 0 to 10 ° and its thickness is between 2 and 5 mm with edges in sharp edge.
  • this connection forms a joint allowing the deflection of the pivot 2 in the vertical plane and, consequently, the tilting upwards or downwards of the jaw 1 which is integral with the pivot. In general, this tilting is translated by a rise or a descent of the jaw thus allowing its adaptation to different heights of sidewalks as well as various footwear soles profiles.
  • the pivot 2 carries at least two abutment elements cooperating with an internal stop wall formed on the body and each acting in a precise configuration of the jaw in alpine mode or hiking mode.
  • the first abutment element consists of a spacer 3 while the second abutment element consists of the bearing 10a.
  • the spacer 3 which carries the two abutment elements.
  • the spacer 3 in certain circumstances which will be detailed below, is likely to end against the wall 4.
  • the spacer 3 takes, by rotation of the pivot 2 on itself, separate angular positions. corresponding, respectively, to jaw races 1 of different amplitudes in the vertical direction.
  • the spacer 3 is secured to the pivot 2 by being provided here with a central bore 30 ( Figure 5A ) in which the rod 21 of the pivot is clamped.
  • the lateral facets of the parallelepiped profile of the bore 30 form rotational locking means of the pivot. It would however be possible to provide, according to a variant of the invention not shown, that the stem of the pivot 2 and the spacer 3 consist of a single piece.
  • the spacer 3 is mounted on the pivot 2, preferably above the two upper bearings 10a, 10b of the arms 1a, 1b.
  • the spacer 3 is formed of a roller. This roller has here, on its periphery, two bosses 31, 32 diametrically opposed.
  • bosses act, occasionally, in the manner of cams coming into bearing contact against the inclined wall 4 of the body C.
  • Each of the two bosses 31, 32 corresponds to a particular stroke of the jaw 1 in the vertical direction.
  • the boss 31 thus corresponds to a vertical stroke of short amplitude called “low” race while the boss 32 corresponds to a vertical stroke of long amplitude so-called "high” stroke.
  • the amplitude of the so-called low run corresponds to the adjustment of the front stop for the attachment of an alpine ski boot, the heel of the sole being substantially flat.
  • This stroke (of the order of 2 mm) corresponds to the maximum possible displacement of the jaw 1 between its low alpine position ( figure 3A ) and its extreme high road position ( figure 3B ) with a shoe to Alpine Standard ISO 3555.
  • the amplitude of the so-called high run is adapted to a ski touring shoe whose sidewalk is raised with respect to the sidewalk of an alpine ski boot because its sole has a convex profile said to "unwound".
  • the high stroke (of the order of 5 to 10 mm) therefore corresponds to the maximum displacement of the jaw between its lower position of non-paved hiking ( Figure 4A ) and its extreme high road position ( Figure 4B ) with a shoe to ISO 9523 Hiking Standard.
  • This extreme position is determined beforehand so as to adapt the stroke of the jaw 1 to any hiking shoe regardless of its brand, given possible dimensional variations between models.
  • the amplitude of the different races is, in all cases, limited by limit stops ensuring the safety of the fastening system.
  • the highest position offered by the stop of the invention will be reached when any of the elements mounted on the pivot 2 (spacer 3 or upper bearing 10a, 10b) will come into operation. stop, directly or indirectly, against the wall 4.
  • the first boss 31 has a thickness and / or a length greater than the thickness and / or the length of the second boss 32.
  • the second boss 32 remains inactive, regardless of the position of the pivot 2 since its radius is determined so that it does not come into contact with any facing element.
  • the second boss 32 has a radius substantially identical to that of the first boss 31 but it is its thickness which is reduced so that it can come into abutment high end against the wall 4.
  • it is the spacer 3 which carries the two abutment elements constituted respectively of the two bosses 31, 32.
  • the gap between the so-called “alpine” Figure 6A ) and the so-called “hike” Figure 6B ) corresponding substantially to the difference in thickness between the two bosses 31, 32.
  • the angle of inclination of the stop wall 4, which delimits the extreme position of the jaw 1 for the different strokes, is oriented towards the front and towards the bottom, as illustrated by the figures.
  • the wall 4 has a concave curvature which cooperates with the rounded profile of the upper edge of the bosses 31, 32.
  • the wall 4 could however have a crenellated profile and / or extend in a horizontal plane.
  • the body C is provided, under the inclined stop wall 4, with a retractable inner member having a shoulder 41 against which the front edge of the upper bearing 10a associated with one of the arms 1a, 1b is capable of coming into contact . If necessary, deformation or displacement of the shoulder 41 forward will provide information on the adjustment of the stop, as described in the patent EP 0 865 806 . This information may be retrieved and displayed by any appropriate means in front of the stop.
  • the roller / spacer 3 has transition sectors 33 whose radius is reduced to facilitate, by reducing the level of stress, the passage of the pivot 2 from one end position to the other ( figure 5 ).
  • the two positions of stable equilibrium of the pivot are arranged here 180 ° from each other.
  • the stability of the two positions of the jaw 1 is therefore essentially due to the peripheral lengths of the sectors of the bosses 31, 32 which tolerate a slight shift.
  • positioning pins could advantageously be made under the head of the pivot in order to cooperate with complementary recesses made on the arms 1a, 1b of the jaw 1.
  • the pivot 2 is disposed in a vertical housing delimited between the body C and the jaw 1.
  • the pivot has, at its upper end, an enlarged head 22 ensuring the wedging of the spacer 3 in the upper part of the rod 21.
  • This head is accessible from outside the stop.
  • the head 22 has an upper groove 23 to allow rotation of the pivot by screwing by means of the blade of a screwdriver.
  • the head of the pivot is provided with a gripping member for its rotation by manual action.
  • the groove 23 is advantageously made with an arrow profile ( figure 1 ) to inform the skier on the position of the stop.
  • the head 22 is asymmetrical. Indeed, it has a protruding rod 22a located on the diametrically opposite side of the boss 31 of the spacer 3.
  • the rod 22a comes into wedging support, in the lower alpine position of the pivot 2 ( figure 3A ), at the rear against a flank face 12a formed at the upper part of the arms 1A, 1B of the jaw 1 and, in the lower position of the pivot 2 ( Figure 4A ), at the front against a flank face d of the body C.
  • the head 22 is raised a few millimeters by relative to the upper surface of the body C so as to visually indicate to the user that the stop is in the hiking position.
  • the first so-called alpine ski adjustment position corresponds to the Figures 3A and 3B .
  • the figure 3A illustrates the configuration of the stop at rest (without shoe) while the figure 3B corresponds to the configuration of this same abutment engaged with a traditional alpine ski boot.
  • the first boss 31 is disposed in front of the pivot and is immobilized under the inclined wall 4 of the facing body while bearing against the shoulder 41.
  • the jaw 1 is then in the lower alpine position.
  • the sidewalk T of his shoe is forcibly housed under the arms 1a, 1b of the jaw 1 by lifting it, as illustrated by the figure 3B .
  • the torque exerted by the boot thus has the effect of tilting the pivot 2 forward to put the first boss 31 bearing against the inclined wall 4 while retracting the element carrying the shoulder 41. Together, the rod 21 of the pivot 2, by straightening in the eyelet A, pulls back on the tie L compressing the spring R. This stop position corresponds to the end of the "low" stroke of the jaw 1, that is to say at the extreme alpine position.
  • the second adjustment position corresponds to the Figures 4A and 4B .
  • This position is obtained by manually turning the head of the pivot 2 180 ° relative to the position of the figure 3A by means of, for example, the blade of a screwdriver engaged in the groove 23. Because the rod 21 of the pivot is integral with the spacer 3, this rotation has the effect of passing both the second boss 32 and 22a rod forward.
  • the Figure 4A illustrates the configuration of the stop at rest (without shoe) while the Figure 4B corresponds to the configuration of this same abutment engaged with a ski touring shoe whose sidewalk T is, as previously indicated, higher than that of an alpine ski boot.
  • the jaw 1 is then in the low hiking position.
  • This low position is located here (as illustrated by the Figure 4A above the low alpine position (shown on the figure 3A due to the lifting of the pivot 2 over a few millimeters; the ring 22a bearing against the flank face d of the body C.
  • the torque exerted by the boot thus has the effect of tilting the pivot 2 forwardly and upwardly by bringing the bearing 10a closer to the inclined wall 4 while retracting the shoulder 41 as it passes.
  • the spacer 3 escapes the wall 4 and can therefore move freely upwards, its head 22 protruding, in front, beyond the upper face of the body.
  • This stop position corresponds to the end of the upper stroke of the jaw 1.
  • the existing clearance between the contours of the eyelet A and the narrowing 20 of the pivot 2 makes it possible to slightly relieve the spring R and thus to prevent the appearance of too much constraint that would be detrimental to the safety and reliability of the stop.
  • This effect is optimized by the choice of a profile and specific and asymmetrical dimensional characteristics of the necking 20 and a geometry of the eyelet A.
  • the inner contours of the eyelet A are shaped so as to avoid too aggressive contact with the pivot to preserve its integrity and its lifetime.
  • the spacer 3 carries more than two bosses so as to define one or more intermediate positions of the pivot 2 between the alpine and hiking positions and therefore offer jaw runs 1 of different amplitudes between low rest positions and various extreme "roadside" end positions.
