Description

The present invention relates to the field of power transmission cables or data signals, such as electrical and optical cables, and more particularly the cables intended to be buried.

ETAT DE LA TECHNIQUESTATE OF THE ART

Generally, a cable comprises a conductive core intended to carry electricity or light (copper or aluminum core, or optical fiber for example) surrounded by an insulator and a sheath protecting the cable from mechanical stresses to which the it is exposed during its installation (abrasion, sharp objects in trench bottom). This sheath is sometimes surrounded by an outer layer intended to reinforce the mechanical protection of the cable when it is laid in media with a large grain size, thus avoiding the need to lay the cable on a sand bed and thus allowing making the trenches shallower. When the cable is to be connected to an installation or when it goes up along a pole, it is necessary to remove this outer layer over a length of up to ten meters. This operation usually takes place using a cable stripper in which the cable is placed. The clamp is equipped with a blade whose depression in the outer layer is manually adjusted to match the thickness thereof. The gripper is then moved along the length of the stripping cable forming a longitudinal slot whose flanks are separated in order to remove the outer layer. Manual adjustment of the depth of insertion of the blade is at the root of many problems because an insufficient depression forces the operator to exert a strong force to spread the edges of the cut slot while a depression too important damages the protective shealth.

Finally, it is also known from the patent application FR2831703 outer layers comprising reliefs generally having a helical pitch resulting from the method of manufacture. This configuration forces the operator to rotate the cable stripper around the outer layer as its longitudinal movement further complicating the cutting operation and removal of the outer layer.

OBJET DE L'INVENTIONOBJECT OF THE INVENTION

An object of the invention is to facilitate the operations of removing an outer layer of a cable while preserving the integrity of the protective sheath.

EXPOSE DE L'INVENTIONSUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

For this purpose, a cable is provided comprising at least one conductive core extending in a sheath covered with a corrugated outer layer comprising longitudinal protrusions separated from each other by splines. According to the invention, at least one of the longitudinal reliefs is of greater width than the other reliefs and the outer layer has, opposite each groove adjoining the relief of greater width, a longitudinal zone having a thickness less than a thickness of the outer layer facing the other flutes.

Thus, when it is desired to strip a portion of such a cable, it suffices to grasp, for example using a clip, the thicker relief that allows a good grip, and to exert traction in a substantially radial direction. The smaller thickness portions surrounding the larger width relief tear and thus allow for a wide opening in the outer layer without using a cutting tool that could damage the protective sheath of the cable or injure a user.

According to an advantageous version of the invention, the higher width relief has at least one bulging flank.

Thus, the flank extends partially above the longitudinal region of smaller thickness of the groove and protects it from mechanical stresses such as punching or abrasion. This protection against punching can also be enhanced when the relief of greater width is separated from the adjacent reliefs by a distance less than a distance separating the other reliefs from each other.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description of a particular non-limiting embodiment of the invention.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEE DE L'INVENTIONDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference to figures 1 and 2 , the generally designated electric cable 1 comprises, in a manner known per se, a conductive core 2, made of metal such as copper or aluminum, which extends along a longitudinal axis X and which is covered with a conductive layer 3 it is itself covered with an insulating layer 4. The insulating layer 4 is in turn covered with a conductive layer 5 on which is disposed a metal shield 6 covered with a protective sheath 7, the latter being generally made of polyethylene or polychloride vinyl.

The cable further comprises an outer layer 8 which covers the protective sheath 7 and comprises grooves 9 separating longitudinal reliefs, here crenellations 10 of the same height, that is to say the surfaces farthest from the longitudinal axis X belong to the same cylindrical surface of axis X.

According to the invention, the outer layer 8 comprises a relief of greater width than the crenellations 10, here a marking block 11 intended to receive a marking identifying the cable, its composition and / or the type of conductor (s) that it contains. This marking block 11 has a height identical to the height of the crenellations 10. The portions of the outer layer 8 facing the flutes 12 and 13 adjacent to the marking pad 11 are of a thickness smaller than the thickness of the outer layer 8 opposite the flutings 9. The marking pad 11 has, here, two curved flanks 14 and 15 which, partially overlying the flutes 12 and 13, protect them from impacts and for example punching. Another way of protecting the grooves 12 and 13 against punching is to arrange the marking block 11 so that the adjacent slots 10 are separated from the latter by a distance less than the distance separating the other reliefs from each other. other.

Advantageously, the outer layer 8 is made of a material having a higher elasticity than the protective sheath 7 and whose adhesion to the protective sheath 7 is lower than the tear resistance of the outer layer 8. The outer layer 8 is for example made of crosslinked elastomer, or thermoplastic elastomer material that is to say a multiphasic polymer comprising a thermoplastic phase and a mixed polymer phase, the polymer obtained can be either in bulk or cellular form, and not naturally adhering to the protective sheath 7. Thus, the outer layer 8 provides, by its elasticity, a stress damping to which the cable 1 is subjected, the limited adhesion of the outer layer 8 to the protective sheath 7 facilitates also his removal.

According to a particular embodiment detailed in figure 1 the slots 10 and the marking pad 11 extend helically around the sheath, providing multidirectional protection to the cable and facilitating bending of the cable 8 during laying and winding operations.

With reference to Figures 1 to 3 , the outer layer 8 comprises reinforcing fibers 16, for example aramid fibers extending in a substantially longitudinal direction of the cable 1, in line with the grooves 9. These fibers allow to resume the drawing forces exerted on the cable and distribute the effects of a radial shock point on the entire cable which greatly reduces the risk of damage to it.

With reference to the figure 3 when it wishes to deposit the outer layer 8 of the cable 1, an operator grasps the relief 11 at a free end of the cable 1 with a pincer and exerts on the latter a traction in a substantially radial direction . The under-thickness facing the grooves 12 and 13 located on either side of the relief 11 yield under the force exerted and tear, thus opening the outer layer 8 to allow removal. A cable 1 is thus obtained comprising an outer layer 8 which provides protection against shocks and mechanical aggression, thereby allowing it to be laid in a trench without requiring the use of a fine-textured material. The removal of this outer layer 8 is easy, without specific tools and guarantees the integrity of the protective sheath 7. The absence of use of cutting tool for the withdrawal operations the outer layer 8 also reduces the risk of injury to operators by cutting.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described but encompasses any variant within the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.

En particulier :

  • bien que la zone longitudinale ayant une épaisseur inférieure s'étend sur toute la largeur de la cannelure adjacente au pavé de marquage, l'invention s'applique également à une zone longitudinale ponctuelle comme par exemple une rainure de largeur inférieure à la cannelure ;
  • bien qu'ici, le relief de plus forte largeur soit un pavé de marquage, l'invention s'applique également à un relief de plus forte largeur ayant une autre destination telle qu'un moyen de guidage ou un point d'accroche, ou sans fonction particulière si ce n'est d'offrir une prise importante pour une pince ;

In particular :
  • although the longitudinal zone having a lower thickness extends over the entire width of the groove adjacent to the marking block, the invention also applies to a longitudinal point area such as for example a groove of smaller width than the groove;
  • although here, the relief of greater width is a marking block, the invention also applies to a relief of greater width having another destination such as a guide means or a point of attachment, or without any particular function except to offer an important grip for a clamp;
  • although here the longitudinal reliefs are slots, the invention is also applicable to other types of longitudinal reliefs such as cylindrical sections, triangular, etc. ;
  • although the cable here comprises a conductive metal core for the transport of electricity, the invention also applies to a light conducting core such as an optical fiber.
