Description

The present invention relates to a berth mattress for a passenger carrying compartment. The invention also relates to a berth and a motor vehicle comprising such a berth or such a mattress.

In the field of cabin layout, in particular in road transport trucks, trains or boats, it is known to use berths whose sleeping surface is variable, in order to adapt the configuration of the cabins to different uses. As part of a truck cab, drivers rest in a portion of their cabin including a bunk in the immediate vicinity of the driver's and passenger's seats. The position of these seats in the cabin being adjustable, the sleeping surface of the bunk can be increased by pushing the seats, for example against the dashboard. To then resume his driving position, the driver reduces the surface of his berth to be able to return his driver's seat to his driving position.

For this purpose, solutions as known from EP-B-1 385 405 , use a bunk composed of several elements linked to each other and each offering a sleeping surface. The sleeping surface of these berths is modifiable by opening or closing, with respect to a main element, drawers supporting additional elements of berth. In an extended position corresponding to the maximum sleeping area, the drawers of the additional elements are removed from the main element, and provide an additional sleeping surface. When the sleeping surface needs to be reduced, the drawers of the additional elements are pushed back against the main element.

Such solutions have the disadvantage of involving a compression of the mattress additional bunk elements when folding against the main element. This implies that in the folded position, the additional mattresses offer a hard surface and therefore a potential discomfort. In addition, this solution requires a physical effort to compress the additional mattresses in their folded position.

It is these drawbacks that the invention intends to remedy by proposing a new mattress whose structure makes it possible to maintain an optimal level of comfort whatever the configuration of the mattress, in particular by avoiding inequalities on the available surface so that the user installs, and facilitate the configuration changes of the mattress.

    en ce que l'élément supérieur repose par sa surface inférieure oblique sur la surface supérieure oblique de l'élément inférieur,
    et en ce que le matelas comporte au moins deux configurations d'utilisation correspondant à deux positions relatives des deux surfaces obliques, maintenues en contact l'une avec l'autre dans lesquelles :
  • dans une première position, les deux éléments sont entièrement ou substantiellement superposés de manière que le matelas présente une dimension transversale réduite, et une surface supérieure sensiblement plane ;
To this end, the invention relates to a mattress for a berth for a compartment of passenger transport means. This mattress is characterized in that it comprises:
  • a lower member having a lower bearing surface and an oblique upper surface forming an angle with respect to the lower surface,
  • an upper member having an upper coating surface and an oblique lower surface forming an angle with respect to the upper surface,
    in that the upper element rests by its oblique lower surface on the oblique upper surface of the lower element,
    and in that the mattress comprises at least two configurations of use corresponding to two relative positions of the two oblique surfaces, maintained in contact with each other in which:
  • in a first position, the two elements are entirely or substantially superimposed so that the mattress has a reduced transverse dimension, and a substantially flat top surface;
  • in a second position, the two elements are partially offset transversely so that the mattress has an increased transverse dimension, and a substantially flat upper surface.

Thanks to the invention, the mattress allows adaptation to the needs of a user, allowing him to easily increase the total area available to extend on the mattress. In another configuration, the space area of the mattress can be reduced to organize the space in which the mattress is installed to allow different use of the space. The structure of the mattress according to the invention, using the relative displacement of two mattress elements, makes it possible to maintain the density properties of the bunk elements, and to maintain an equal level of comfort in the two configurations of use of the mattress, providing a substantially flat surface, especially in the use configuration in which the mattress has an increased transverse dimension.

  • The mattress elements include polyurethane foam parts.
  • At least one of the oblique surfaces is covered with an anti-friction coating.
  • The coating surface of the upper element has an inwardly shouldered contour.

The invention also relates to a berth for a passenger means of transport compartment, comprising a frame and a mattress as mentioned above.
According to advantageous but non-mandatory features of the invention, such a berth may incorporate one or more of the following features, taken in any technically permissible combination:

The invention also relates to a truck type vehicle, comprising a cabin in which are installed a driver's seat and a passenger seat, and a mattress or a berth as mentioned above.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'une couchette conforme à l'invention, dans une première configuration ;
  • la figure 2 est une coupe selon le plan Il de la couchette de la figure 1 ;
  • la figure 3 est une vue similaire à la figure 1, dans une deuxième configuration de la couchette selon l'invention ;
The invention will be better understood and other advantages thereof will appear more clearly in the light of the following description of an embodiment of a mattress and a berth according to the principle of the invention, given only by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 is a perspective view of a berth according to the invention, in a first configuration;
  • the figure 2 is a cut according to the plane II of the berth of the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 3 is a view similar to the figure 1 in a second configuration of the berth according to the invention;
  • the figure 4 is a section on plane IV of the bunk of the figure 3 .

The berth 2 shown in Figures 1 to 4 is intended to be installed in compartments of small dimensions, including cabs of road transport trucks, trains or boats.

With reference to a floor of the compartment in which the bunk 2 is installed, Z-Z 'is noted in a vertical direction. With reference to a conventional parallelepiped bunk shape, X-X 'is a longitudinal direction of the berth 2, and Y-Y' is a transverse direction of the berth. The Y-Y 'direction is perpendicular to the X-X' and Z-Z 'directions and refers to the width of the berth, the X-X' direction referring to the length of the berth 2.

The berth 2 comprises a first bunk element 100. This first bunk element 100 is called the lower element, with reference to the vertical direction Z-Z '. The berth 2 comprises a second bunk element 200, called the upper element.

The longitudinal, transverse and vertical axes of the lower element 100 are respectively denoted X100, Y100 and Z100. The frame 104 comprises a horizontal plate 106, on which is fixed a side plate 108, perpendicular to the axis Y100 and parallel to the axis X100. The lower mattress element 102 is fixed to the side plate 108 by any appropriate means, such as by gluing, by screws, rivets, staples, Velcro® type self-gripping strips. The side plate 108 comprises fixing means on a supporting structure such as, for example, a wall or a wall of a cabin, which comprise two brackets 110. These brackets 110 are provided with fixing slots and are mounted with the possibility of pivoting relative to the side plate 108, to allow a rotation of the berth 2 relative to the cabin, parallel to its longitudinal direction X-X '. This possibility of pivoting is provided in particular to give access to a storage under the berth, and / or to bring the berth 2 in a retracted substantially vertical position, for example along a wall of the compartment. In the context of a heavy-duty vehicle, the berth 2 is for example fixed against a rear wall of the cabin, with the direction XX 'of the berth corresponding to a transverse direction from the cabin. It can then be said that the side plate 108 extends on a rear lateral edge of the berth 2.

De préférence, ce bord longitudinal commun 118 présente une épaisseur verticale la plus faible possible, par exemple inférieure à 30 mm, et préférentiellement inférieure à 15 mm.The lower mattress element 102 has a parallelepipedal shape truncated by a cutaway 112 defining an oblique surface inclined with respect to a coating surface 114 of the mattress 102. The cutaway 112 extends between the coating surface 114 and a surface lower support 116 of the mattress 102 and is oriented towards an upper zone of the berth 2. The cutaway 112 is parallel to the longitudinal axis X100. The bearing surface 116 joins the cutaway 112 at a common longitudinal edge 118. Preferably, this common longitudinal edge 118 has a vertical thickness as small as possible, for example less than 30 mm, and preferably less than 15 mm.

L'élément supérieur de matelas 202 présente une surface de couchage 208 parallèle à la surface de couchage 114 et de dimensions sensiblement égales à celles de la surface inférieure 116 de l'élément inférieur de matelas 102.The second bunk element 200 comprises, in the same way as the first element 100, a mattress upper element 202 and a frame 204 comprising a horizontal plate 206 parallel to the axis 106 of the lower element 100. mattress 202 of the upper element 200 has an inverted shape, along the vertical axis ZZ 'of the berth, with respect to the mattress element 102 of the lower bunk element 100. The upper element of the mattress 202 has a coating surface 208 parallel to the coating surface 114 and of dimensions substantially equal to those of the lower surface 116 of the lower mattress element 102.

On note respectivement X200, Y200 et Z200 des axes longitudinal, transversal et vertical de l'élément supérieur 200.X200, Y200 and Z200 are respectively denoted as longitudinal, transverse and vertical axes of the upper element 200.

The coating surface 114 of the lower mattress element 102 has a dimension, along the transverse axis Y100, of between 10% and 40%, preferably between 15% and 30%, of the dimension along the transverse axis Y200 of the sleeping surface 208 of the upper mattress element 202.

The upper mattress element 202 comprises a cutaway 210 oriented towards a lower zone of the berth 2 and which extends between the coating surface 208 and a horizontal flat 212 constituting a bearing surface, which is for example dimensioned substantially equal to the sleeping surface 114 of the lower mattress element 102. The cutaway 210 constitutes an oblique surface parallel to the longitudinal axis X200, of area substantially equivalent to the area of the cutaway 112 and of which the angle of inclination with respect to a horizontal direction is substantially equal. The cutaway 210 and the sleeping surface 208 meet in a common longitudinal edge 226.

Pour cela, la couchette 2 comporte des moyens de liaison entre l'élément inférieur 100 et l'élément supérieur 200.The lower element 100 and the upper element 200 of the berth 2 are connected to each other in such a way that their longitudinal axes X100 and X200, their transverse axes Y100 and Y200, as well as their vertical axes Z100 and Z200. are parallel between them. For this, the berth 2 comprises connection means between the lower element 100 and the upper element 200.

As represented in figures 2 and 4 a portion of the frame 204 of the upper member 200 is inserted between the frame 104 of the lower member 100 and the lower surface 116 of the mat member 102 of the lower member. At the interface between the respective horizontal plates 106 and 206 of the chassis 104 and 204, the berth 2 comprises slides 300, adapted to allow relative translation of the chassis 104 and 204, in a transverse direction, parallel to the transverse direction YY ' 2. Advantageously, this berth 2 comprises two slide systems 300, mounted on either side of a central region of the berth 2, in its longitudinal direction X-X '.

The mattress elements 102 and 202 of the lower 100 and upper 200 members are positioned relative to one another so that the respective cut-off faces 112 and 210 of the mattresses 102 and 202 are in contact. Thus, the mattress elements 102 and 202 are arranged to be substantially symmetrical with respect to a virtual point located at the center of the interface line between the cut faces 112 and 210, on the section of the figure 2 .

The oblique surfaces defined by the cut faces 112 and 210 of the lower and upper elements of the mattresses 102 and 202 are substantially planar. The angle of inclination between the cutaway 112 and the lower surface 116 of the lower member 100 is preferably substantially equal to the angle of inclination between the cutaway 210 and the coating surface 208 of the upper member 200. This angle of inclination is preferably less than 25 degrees, for example of the order of 15 degrees.

Ces revêtements anti-frottement peuvent avantageusement être en un matériau tel que le PTFE.The arrangement of the mattress elements 102 and 202 makes possible a relative sliding of the cut faces 112 and 210 against each other, in a direction YG perpendicular to the longitudinal axes X100 and X200 of the lower elements 100 and upper 200 and inclined by relative to the horizontal direction YY 'of the berth 2. This relative sliding is advantageously facilitated by anti-friction coatings covering at least one of the cut faces 112 and 210, so that the relative sliding of these two surfaces requires a reasonable effort of the user and does not cause potentially unpleasant friction noises. These anti-friction coatings may advantageously be made of a material such as PTFE.

La poignée 220 comporte des surfaces d'appui 222 sur un bord latéral 214 de l'élément de matelas 202, permettant d'exercer un effet de poussée sur l'élément de matelas 202 et de servir de butée à l'élément de matelas 202 dans le glissement relatif des pans coupés 112 et 210.The frame 204 of the upper member 200 includes a handle 220, located on the edge of the frame 204 opposite to the side plate 108 of the frame 104, as shown in FIG. figure 2 , or on the front edge in the case mentioned above a bunk arranged transversely in a motor vehicle. advantageously, this handle is located in a central region of the berth 2, according to its longitudinal direction X-X '. This handle 220 allows the user to exert the relative translational movement of the plates 106 and 206 parallel to the transverse axes X100 and X200. The handle 220 has bearing surfaces 222 on a side edge 214 of the mattress member 202, for exerting a pushing effect on the mattress member 202 and serving as a stop for the mattress member 202 in the relative sliding of the cut faces 112 and 210.

The upper mattress element 202 is preferably connected to the frame portion 204 so as to be able to move vertically along the axis Z-Z ', while following the movements along the transverse axis YY' of this frame part. . In the exemplary embodiment illustrated, this connection is implemented by a flexible element, for example a strip of flexible material 230 visible to the figure 2 connecting the bottom surface 212 of the mattress upper member 202 to the front edge of the frame portion 204. figures 3 and 4 , the flexible band 230 is folded between the lower surface 212 and the plate 206 and is not shown for the sake of clarity. The connection between the upper mattress element 202 and the frame portion 204 can be achieved by any other suitable means.

The lower and upper elements 200 of the berth are also connected via a layer of flexible material 302 integral with the side plate 108 and extending over the coating surface 208 of the upper element 200. coating surface 208 and the side plate 108, this layer of material forms for example a bellows 304, folded in the configuration of the figures 1 and 2 . The layer of flexible material 302 could alternatively be elastic so as to stretch during the relative sliding of the cut faces 112 and 210. In the configuration of the figures 1 and 2 , the lower and upper elements 200 100 of the berth 2 are in a position such that the coating surface 208 of the upper element is superimposed on the coating surface 114 of the lower element 100, that is to say it is located, along the X-X 'axis, at a higher level relative to the level of the sleeping surface 114. In this configuration, the surface available for a user to take place on the berth 2 that is to say the upper surface of the berth 2, comprises only the coating surface 208 of the upper member 200. This configuration corresponds to a first relative position of the cut faces 112 and 210. Similarly, this configuration corresponds at a position of the plate 206 of the frame 204 almost entirely inserted between the plate 106 of the frame 104 and the lower surface 116 of the mattress 102. This configuration offers a reduced berth width, adapted to the need for a space requirement. in a small cabin, especially where the layout of the cabin in question must be modified for an activity requiring more space. In this position, the width of the berth is adapted to serve as a bench seat.

To increase the width of the berth, a user can exert, using the handle 220, a translational movement along the arrow F1 to the figure 1 , in order to move the handle 220 relative to the side plate 108. During such a translational movement, the frames 104 and 204 undergo a relative translational movement allowed by the slides 300 and tending to extract a larger part of the plate 206 relative to the mattress 102 and to the plate 106.

Lors du glissement de l'élément supérieur de matelas 202, la surface de couchage 208 subit un déplacement tendant à la rapprocher, selon une direction verticale, de la surface de couchage 114 de l'élément inférieur 100.This relative translation of the frames 104 and 204 has the effect of allowing relative sliding at the level of the cut faces 112 and 210, the upper element of the mattress 202 thus undergoing a sliding according to the arrow F2 at the figure 1 . During the sliding of the upper mattress element 202, the coating surface 208 undergoes a movement tending to bring it, in a vertical direction, to the coating surface 114 of the lower element 100.

When the relative translation of the frames 104 and 204 ends, the coating surfaces 208 and 114 are flush with each other as shown in FIGS. figures 3 and 4 . In this configuration, the surface available for a user to seat on the berth 2, that is to say the upper surface of the berth 2, is a surface whose central portion is substantially flat, created by the outcrop of In this position, the bellows 304 is deployed on the surface of the coating 114 and a user has an increased surface proportionally to the transverse dimension of the sleeping surface 114 to extend on the berth 2 The central portion of the upper surface of the berth 2 has no depression or difference in inclination or level in this configuration. The total thickness E2 of the berth 2, measured vertically between the coating surface 208 and the lower surface 116, is, in this configuration, substantially constant over the entire width of the berth. This allows the user to enjoy optimal comfort when it extends over the berth 2 because the capacity of the mattress is constant over the entire width. The anti-friction coatings covering the cut sides 112 and 210 allow, in this configuration, to avoid unpleasant friction noises that could be caused by the movements of the user on the berth.

Ce déplacement tend à ramener la couchette 2 dans la configuration des figures 1 et 2.In the case where the user decides, for example, to return to his driving position, he exerts, through the handle 220, a force along arrow F3, parallel to the transverse direction YY 'of the berth 2, tending to repel the upper member 200 towards the side plate 108 of the lower member 100. Such a movement has the effect of inducing a relative sliding of the cut faces 112 and 210 and a displacement of the upper member 200, compared to the lower element 100, according to the arrow F4 at the figure 3 . This displacement tends to bring the berth 2 back into the configuration of the figures 1 and 2 .

When the translation movement initiated by the user according to the arrow F3 ends, the coating surface 208 of the upper element 200 is again superimposed on the surface of the coating 114 of the lower element 100. The bellows 304 is of again folded, and the total thickness E1, measured in the same way as the thickness E2, of the berth 2 is greater than the thickness E2 of the berth in the extended configuration.

The configuration of the berth 2 shown in figures 1 and 2 is particularly adapted to the sitting position of a user, since the increased thickness of the berth 2 makes it possible to support a greater weight, corresponding to the concentration of the mass of the user on a smaller surface in the sitting only in the supine position. As a result, the structure of the berth 2 thus offers an optimal level of comfort in the seat configuration and in the extended configuration. In order to guarantee this comfort, the mattresses 202 and 102 may advantageously comprise polyurethane foam parts. The dimensions of the handle 220 are sufficiently reduced, along the axis Y200, to not interfere with the user when it sits on the berth 2 in seat configuration. The passage from one configuration to another is only by sliding the elements against each other and does not involve any change in the dimensions or density characteristics of the mattresses 102 and 202.

The flat 212 of the upper element 200, symmetrical with respect to the coating surface 114 of the lower element 100, makes it possible to give the berth 2 good compactness in its vertical direction Z-Z '. Indeed, when the berth 2 is in the extended configuration, no part of the upper element 200 extends beyond the chassis 104 of the lower element 100. This optimizes the arrangement of the cabin in which the bunk is installed, including providing a storage space, such as a trunk, under the bunk 2 and accessible by lifting the berth.

As represented in figures 1 and 3 , the upper member 200 has an inner shoulder 224 for providing a space in which a driver's seat of a truck cab can in particular be positioned. The user will preferably use the area near which the shoulder 124 is practiced to place his feet when he extends over the berth 2. A similar shoulder may also be provided at the other end of the berth 2. The shoulder 224 does not extend over the central area where the handle 220 is located, which allows the user to have a wider surface for the trunk, including shoulders to the pelvis, when lying on the berth 2.

Les moyens peuvent par exemple comporter un loquet mécanique, ou un système d'indexage installé sur les glissières 300.According to a variant not shown, the berth 2 may comprise locking means of one or more configurations of the berth. The means may for example comprise a mechanical latch, or an indexing system installed on the slides 300.

In the absence of such means, the frictional forces associated with the slides 300 and related to the contact of the oblique surfaces of the mattress elements may be sufficient to maintain the elements 100 and 200 in their respective relative positions.

According to one embodiment of the invention which is not shown in the figures, the berth can be reduced to a simple separate mattress into two lower and upper parts constituted respectively by the mattresses 102 and 202. In such a case, the two mattress parts can be secured by means such as self-gripping strips at the cut faces 112 and 210. The passage between the two configurations of use is then by the separation of the parts 102 and 202, then by the joining together of the two parts in the other relative positioning of the cut faces 112 and 210.

According to another embodiment which is not shown in the figures, at least one of the mattresses 102 and 202 has, in a plane perpendicular to the transverse direction X-X ', a triangular section and does not have the surfaces 114 or 212. In the case of the lower member 100 having such a triangular section, the upper portion of the lower member 100 acts as a falling edge protruding from the coating surface 208 in extended configuration. The fixing means 110 with respect to a supporting structure are advantageously placed on the side of the upper element 200, corresponding to the left part of the figures 2 and 4 .

The characteristics of the various embodiments described can be combined in the context of the present invention. In the case where the invention consists of a mattress, the upper surface of this mattress has a substantially flat central portion in the second configuration of use, thanks to the outcropping of the coating surfaces 208 and 114.
