Description

WALL ASSEMBLY SYSTEM OF A CAN ILEVERED PIECE OF FURNITURE
The present invention relates to a wall assembly sys- tem of a cantilevered piece of furniture, whether it be a wall cupboard, or a so-called base, forming part, for example, of kitchen, bathroom or living-room furniture.
The term wall cupboard alone will be used hereafter for the sake of simplicity.
As is well-known to experts in the field, extremely long (normally from two to four meters) continuous bars are used for firm assembly (suspending/hanging) cantilevered piece of furniture to the wall, or short bars or made-to-measure plates, which are fixed to the wall and are positioned between the shoulders (sides) of the piece of furniture.
The plates can also be equipped with anti- disengagement systems, as described and illustrated, for example, in Italian patent application MI2009A000699 , filed on 24-04-2009, with particular reference to figures 21-29.
For a better understanding of the present invention, the description and drawings of said application should be considered an integral part of this text.
The piece of furniture is equipped with hooking de- vices, so-called "wall hanging brackets" which are hooked to said bars or plates.
Said wall hanging brackets are fixed to the piece of furniture in correspondence with the shoulders (sides) and are equipped with regulation mechanisms for the height and depth of the piece of furniture, with respect to the wall and possible adjacent furniture.
An example of a wall hanging bracket is illustrated in international patent PCT/EP2009/005627 , filed on 24- 07-2009, whose content should be considered an integral part of this text, for a better understanding of the present invention.
The main essential conditions which must be satisfied for a correct assembly of the wall cupboard are that the interaxes between the plates fixed to the wall and that between the hanging brackets fixed to the piece of furniture, are the same, with the plates at the same height from the floor.
Considering the above, the phases necessary for fix- ing (suspending/hanging) a cupboard to the wall are the following : .-'
1. The piece of furniture must be equipped with at least two hanging brackets, which are normally applied to the respective shoulders (sides) in the factory, during the assembly process of the same furniture .
Fixing the plates to the wall. This is the most important, most demanding, most difficult and most unpleasant operation that the assembler/installer must effect, obviously in the place where the piece of furniture is to be assembled.
Considering an elementary piece of furniture, as already mentioned, it is extremely important to fix at least two plates to the wall, which are perfectly interspaced at the prefixed distance and at the same height from the floor. The interaxis between the plates (hooking points) must coincide with that between the hooks of the hanging brackets, which must be hooked to the plates .
It should be noted in this respect, that the hooks of the hanging brackets normally adhere to the shoulder of the piece of furniture, as they must limit as much as possible the formation of large torque moments which are generated when the so- called "base" pieces of furniture i.e. furniture with an important depth dimension (for example, base pieces of furniture of a kitchen, bathroom or living room) , are suspended. As the hooks strictly adhere to the shoulder (side) of the piece of furniture, the plates fixed to the wall must consequently also be positioned very close to the sides: this is why an extremely accurate positioning of the plates to the wall is necessary.
3. Once the plates have been fixed to the wall, the piece of furniture is hooked/hung, also regulating the height and depth by means of the mentioned mechanisms with which hanging brackets are nowadays equipped.
During the above-mentioned assembly operations, the installer may find, while drilling the wall, a series of problems, such as, for example, water pipes, electric wires, inconsistent portions of the wall, which virtually prevent the fixing of the plates.
In addition, the installer may not have been entirely accurate, and consequently the interaxes between the hanging brackets do not coincide with those between the plates, even if the latter are equipped with loops to regulate their position.
In particular, in living-rooms, the furniture can consist of various fittings close to each other: in this case the problem of accuracy is amplified, as the presence of various adjacent pieces of furniture must be taken into consideration.
The general objective of the present invention is to provide a system for the wall assembly of cantilevered pieces of furniture which satisfies the above-mentioned requirements, overcoming the drawbacks of the known art.
The above objective is achieved by an assembly system having the characteristics indicated in claim 1 and in the enclosed subclaims.
The structural and functional characteristics of the invention and its advantages with respect to the known art will appear clearly understandable from the following description, referring to the enclosed drawings, which show two possible embodiments of the invention.
In the drawings :
- figures 1 and 2 are schematic perspective views showing a possible assembly system according to an example of the known art in the field;
- figures 3 and 4 are two enlarged details, respectively in a raised front view and in perspective, of the assembly system of figures 1 and 2;
- figure 5 is a section taken according to the traced plane V-V of figure 3, showing the coupling between the hanging bracket and the supporting plate;
- figure 6 is a raised side view according to the arrow F of figure 3;
- figure 7 is a plan view according to the arrow Fl of figure 3;
- figures 8-10 are schematic perspective views showing a first assembly system according to the invention;
- figures 11 and 12 are two views, respectively, a raised front view and a perspective view, illustrating the assembly system of figures 8-10;
- figures 13 and 14 are two enlarged details, respectively, a raised front view and a perspective view, of the assembly system of figures 11 and 12;
- figure 15 is a section along the traced plane XV-XV of figure 13;
- figures 16 and 17 are schematic perspective views illustrating a second example of an assembly system effected according to the invention;
- figure 18 is a raised front view illustrating the assembly system of figures 16 and 17;
- figure 19 is an enlarged detail of the assembly system of figure 18;
- figure 20 is a section along the traced plane XX-XX of figure 19;
- figure 21 is a raised side view according to the arrow F2 of figure 19;
- figure 22 is a plan view according to the arrow F3 of figure 19;
Figures 1-7 of the drawings schematically illustrate, s according to the known art, how a cupboard 30 can be ixed to a wall 31. For this purpose, plates. 32 (at least two) fixed to the wall 31 are used, together with relative hanging brackets 33 (at least two) fixed to the sides of the piece of furniture 30.
As already indicated, for a correct assembly of the piece of furniture, all the plates 32 must be fixed to the wall 31 at the same height H with respect to the floor P, and with an interaxis X equal to the interaxis X' between the hanging brackets 33 (figures 1 and 2) . The plates 32 and hanging brackets 33 are not described in detail, as they can be the same as those object of the patents previously mentioned.
According to a first embodiment of the present invention, which is illustrated in figures 8-15, the wall as- sembly of a cupboard can be effected using a bar-rail 34, whose longitudinal edges are shaped as shown in 35, so as to define two opposite retention sections 36 which guide the plates 32 (figure 15) .
The bar 34 also has a number of holes (loops) 37 for its fixing to the wall 31 by means of pegs 38.
The plates 32, as indicated in figure 8, are typically inserted, in the necessary number, into the bar- rail 34.
This operation is effected by operating from the free ends of the bar 34, by inserting the corresponding edges 011 004569
39 of the. plates 32 into the sections 36.
The plates 32 can be easily made to slide along the bar-rail 34, until the prefixed position is reached, where they are fixed through dowels 40 (figure 15) .
From what is specified above, with reference to the figures, it can be easily understood that for an installer it is extremely simple to satisfy the necessary requirements of absolute precision of the interaxis between the plates 32 and alignment of the same, so that the piece of furniture 30 can be hooked to the same with extreme simplicity and safety, by inserting the hooks 41 of the hanging brackets 33 into the corresponding hole 42 of the plate 32, which will be perfectly in axis (figure 5) .
As already mentioned, in fact, the plates 32 are positioned along the bar-rail 34, at an interaxis X which is perfectly identical to the interaxis X' between the hanging brackets 33.
Figures 16-22 show a second possible embodiment of the invention, wherein, in a bar 50, there are solid made at least two supporting, interspaced sections 51, for the assembly of a cupboard 52: said sections 51 substantially have the same function as the plates 32, object of the first embodiment of the invention previously described, and are equipped with reinforcing ribs 56. The section 51 can be advantageously produced from the bar 50, by means of deep-drawing, calculating an interaxis between the two sections 51 perfectly equal to the interaxis between the hanging brackets 33.
The bar 50 is also provided with holes (loops) 54 for its fixing to the wall 57 by means of pegs 38 or equivalent means .
In this embodiment of the invention, the installer has a single piece to manage, instead of a plurality of pieces, as in the first embodiment, and the hooking of the piece of furniture is guaranteed at the first attempt, as the interaxes between the sections 51 are identical to those of the hanging brackets 33.
The length of the bar 50 is calculated in relation to the length of the piece of furniture.
In both embodiments, the plates 32 and the section 51 can be equipped with an anti-disengagement system (55) in correspondence with the holes 42, as described in patent application MI2009A000699.
As already mentioned, the hanging brackets 33 are normally equipped with mechanisms 58, 59, for respectively regulating the height and depth of the wall cupboard to which the hanging bracket itself 33 is fixed, as described in patent application PCT/EP2009/005627.
The objectives indicated in the preamble of the de- scription have therefore been achieved.
The scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.
